I am currently doing a Gale-run, and as soon as I could I dressed him in the angelic scion outfit and then in the wavemother's robe. Since I am romancing Ascendant Astarion, my headcanon is that AA put Gale in those clothes on to showcase the world what he has that they never will. Kind of like "You can look, but not touch".

Rolan has a skill for using the Weave, as seen by the fact that some of his spells have his name in front of them, denoting he's either taught himself how to do them or the composition of them differs in some way.

Once in charge of Ramazith's Tower and in between apprentices, Rolan will work on personal spell shaping projects. This can be using alternative spell components, or changing runes entirely for certain spells.

Rolan is able to visualize spells in the concept of parts, and certain runes can enhance or detract functions of spells if applied correctly.

Several year post Netherbrain he publishes his research on thunder based magic that culminates in the creation of his very own spell that is officially sanctioned and named after him:
