✨ Men Don’t Fall for the Woman Who Gives Too Much
Attraction Principle #10:
When a woman doesn't give in easily and doesn't appear docile or submissive, it becomes more stimulating to obtain her.
In her book Getting to 'I Do', Dr. Patricia Allen emphasizes the importance of maintaining traditional masculine and feminine roles within relationships. She posits that every successful partnership consists of a leader (masculine energy) and a follower (feminine energy). According to Allen, a woman who embodies feminine energy should prioritize receiving over giving, allowing the man to take the lead. This dynamic aligns with the idea that men are natural pursuers or "hunters" in relationships. By not giving in easily and refraining from appearing overly docile or submissive, a woman presents a challenge, thereby stimulating a man's intrinsic desire to chase and obtain her. Allen suggests that such an approach not only respects traditional gender roles but also fosters a balanced and fulfilling relationship dynamic. Why Allen Supports Traditional Gender Roles:
Men Are Natural Chasers – Allen emphasizes that men thrive when they can pursue and provide. If a woman assumes a traditionally "masculine" role (chasing, initiating, leading), she disrupts the natural attraction dynamic, making the man feel unnecessary or even emasculated.
2. Feminine Energy Attracts Masculine Energy – She argues that when a woman embraces receptivity, softness, and the ability to let a man lead, she allows space for his masculine energy to emerge, which makes the relationship more fulfilling.
3. Balance Prevents Power Struggles – If both partners compete for dominance (both being in masculine energy), it leads to power struggles and disconnection. Similarly, if both are in feminine energy (passive, waiting to be led), nothing happens. She suggests that a clear balance of roles makes relationships smoother and more fulfilling.
4. It’s About Chemistry, Not Submission – Allen clarifies that embracing feminine energy doesn’t mean being weak or dependent. Instead, it means allowing the man to take action while the woman remains in a receptive position, creating the romantic chemistry needed for long-term commitment.
5. Men Need to Feel Useful – She points out that men derive confidence and purpose from providing, leading, and protecting. When a woman is too independent in a way that excludes men from fulfilling these roles, it can diminish attraction and motivation on his end. Allen’s Key Quote on This:
"If a woman is too giving, she robs a man of the opportunity to give to her. And if he can't give to her, he will stop investing in her."
TL;DR – She doesn’t argue that women should be weak or dependent, but rather that they should understand how gender polarity creates strong attraction and healthy relationship dynamics.

my most toxic trait is i fucking love work gossip. i play neutral not to be the bigger person or take the high road but to hear slander and hearsay from every side. two coworkers complained about each other to me in the same afternoon and i nearly blacked out from the rush

what if your doppelgänger wasn’t evil it was just a person. what if your doppelgänger wasn’t trying to replace you it was just trying to learn to be a person and you were the best model it had. what if your doppelgänger looked at you with your eyes and said with your voice that it just wanted to be loved. what then.

the weird schrödinger's emotion that is "that character death was narratively satisfying and emotionally impactful and ultimately the best way to handle their character arc" simultaneously with "noooo but I wanted them to live :( :( :("

i’ve started babysitting for a VERY christian family which is great because they pay me a lot of money but as someone who was raised almost completely agnostic it’s kind of insane. the 2 year old keeps asking me to read her stories from the bible. (why are we reading david and goliath to a 2 year old????) the 5 year old told me today that he was going to bring his legos to heaven with him. he also has repeatedly told me that the lego spaceships he builds are stronger than jesus. (not sure what to say to that. do i deny it??? are things allowed to be stronger than jesus??) had to stop myself mid sentence today because i almost told them im not going to heaven which would DEFINITELY have caused several meltdowns. they’re also both completely fascinated by my nose ring

ok not to be that guy but like. labor rights and working class rights can coexist with 24h services and late amenities. its certainly hard to do so without worker exploitation in this political and social environment, it’s not a conflict likely to resolve overnight. but 24h services are important and especially valuable to those of us that are disabled or are on a different circadian rhythm. in fact more professional, health, and government services should be available or at least possible to work on asynchronously (if applicable) during late or odd hours, while workers also get sufficient pay for their labor and proper consistent scheduling. this would be much easier on the workers with night schedules if the entire professional world didn’t grind to a halt at 5pmEST

>Join a union
>Hear people constantly complaining that the current union leadership is super corrupt, it's all just the same ten guys making all the decisions in secret and nobody else in the union ever gets to know what's going on
>Go to the monthly union meetings that are completely open to all 1200 union members
>The only attendees are the same ten guys every month, giving detailed reports about everything that's going on

Disability is not a punishment, but I think the world would be genuinely improved if every person involved in writing or regulating ingredient labels was mysteriously inflicted with at least one food allergy falling under each of the following categories: "natural flavors," "modified food starch," "artificial flavors," "spices," and "color." Down with ingredient labels so vague that they defeat the entire fucking point.

We were watching the glass blowing competition show on netflix because it's really cool to see those talented artists do their thing...
But I will NEVER forgive the judges for eliminating an amazing artist who's concept was that plastic hamster tubes are actually dangerous for hamsters yet they are normalized in our society so they made a beautiful glass rendition of an endless loop of colorful hamster tubes as an expression of how we can be trapped by society in a loop of behavior that is normalized but actually killing us
And the judges were like "this isnt DEEP ENOUGH" because they dont care enough about hamsters to learn and interpret the artist's statement at the level it was meant for.
Tumblr media
They literally saw the glass renditions of colorful tubes that represent suffering and being trapped in a glossy predesigned hell and went "this is too normal and isnt saying anything important actually" Fuck them!!!!
Anyways Gemma should have won and I'm so happy to see that she didn't let it stop her amazing concept and she continued with it outside of the time constraints of the show. Fuck yes Gemma
