One of the most important things we can do is to listen to our bodies👂🕺. That’s what intuitive eating is all about! So even though we THINK we would love to eat a burger 🍔 or a donut 🍩 every single day, the truth is it could be too much for our bodies. They are wise enough to know what we need, when we need it and where’s our limit. We just have to pay attention. ⠀ Have you ever felt that you’ve eaten too much, let’s say… chocolate 🍫 , that all of a sudden you can’t even smell it 🤢? That’s what happens when we overflow ourselves with the same food; the pleasure vanishes and you just get tired of it . Even if we go the other way around! Imagine the only food you have is a bunch of vegetables 🥗. Veggies for breakfast 🥗, veggies for lunch 🥗, veggies for snacks 🥗, veggies for dinner 🥗 Well, your body will ask for something else, probably the opposite just to take a break from that eating routine. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ In order to feel good when it comes to food, it’s essential to maintain the balance ⚖️. We have to fuel our bodies with a little bit of this 🥗 and a little bit of that 🌭. The reason for this post isn’t to show you what is a better or worse option, or to label any foods as healthy or unhealthy. At BEYOND we love to teach balance! As part of tracking your macros, we still have goals to hit each day that include 80% whole food diet, adequate serves of fruit and veg, and hitting the fibre target However what we also like to teach is that without labelling food as good or bad you don’t feel like you have fallen “off track”. Someone might go out and eat and order a McFlurry and assume they have ruined the entire day is nutritional intake because of one thing, which is very untrue! On the flipside even foods labelled as “healthy” Can contain a high amount of calories which may affect that days total goals of a calorie deficit. ? Can you eat a McFlurry and still lose body fat? While no one specific meal will make you gain or lose weight, your meals and snacks for the day all together will add up to hit your target goals.⠀ ⠀ As a reminder, for fat loss, you need to be in a sustainable caloric deficit. For muscle gain, you need to be in a caloric surplus. For science, you need to be at a caloric maintenance level.⠀ ⠀ While that exact caloric number will be different for everyone, here are some examples to help you reach your goals.⠀ ⠀ As you can see for the weight loss meals, they’re not devoid of all complex carbs. While at dinner, I skipped the rice for cauliflower rice, at lunch, I still included the full sweet potato and just skipped the toppings that were in the muscle gain meal.⠀ ⠀ Additionally, I made sure I had plenty of healthy fats in the weight loss meals but still had a smaller portion than in the muscle gain meals.⠀ ⠀ More info below:⠀ ⠀ 🍳Breakfast fat loss - 2 eggs + 2 egg whites, 1/4 avocado, 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes + 1/4 cup mushrooms + 1/4 cup asparagus sautéed + 1 piece Ezekiel toast.⠀ 🍳Breakfast muscle gain - Added 2 eggs, + 1/4 avocado, + 1 tbsp pb.⠀ ⠀ 🥗Lunch fat loss - 4oz chicken, 1 sweet potato, 1 cup broccoli.⠀ 🥗Lunch muscle gain - Added 2oz chicken, added 1 banana + 1 tbsp pb.⠀ ⠀ 🥘Dinner fat loss - 4oz wild salmon, 1 cup cauliflower rice, 1 cup mushrooms + 1 cup kale sautéed in 1 tsp olive oil.⠀ 🥘Dinner muscle gain - Added 2oz salmon, subbed in 1 cup rice for 1 cup cauliflower.⠀ ⠀ 🍓Snack fat loss - 1 cup strawberries + 25g chocolate⠀ 🍓Snack muscle gain - 1 cup straw + 1 banana + 45g chocolate⠀ .
