The hill I will die on is that LastLife!Etho (and Etho more generally) worries so much about rules and that's the reason some people think that he comes across as 'uncaring', especially when it comes to giving Bdubs his life. In episode 5, he tells Cleo he can't just give her the brewing stand - he can't just give things to red lifes, it has to be a deal. He is happy to make the deal for Bdubs to sign Scar's book to get him a life, and then executes the boogey kill (arguing that he didn't break any contract), and Then signs Scar's book himself. He goes on to argue that 'The Boogeyman took the enchanter' but when Scar counters that Etho was cured upon the kill so that's untrue, Etho backs down. He talks about rules and technicalities and he loves to play the game but he wants to find loopholes, not break rules.

That's why he hesitates to give Bdubs his life later on. All alliances with reds are cut, so he can't give anything to Bdubs without something in return. And yes he's a survivor yes he bends to the whims of others but he does care. He was the one out there working to get Bdubs back on yellow, and he was willing to make enemies to do it if he had to. He never fully trusts Bdubs and he vocalises that after he sees BigB kill Cleo ("it's always the ones you least expect") but he does care. He does.

Young Slayer! Cursed! But also intriguing, Slayer has always been gung-ho about fighting, hell every win quote he has with Sol is some version of "damn i wish we had a few square miles of room so we could really let loose", but I'm thinking that a few centuries back, Slayer was much more...enthusiastic about it. That is the face of a man who got a beer bottle smashed over his head and is delighted by that event because it means he gets to punch someone's face in.

Also apparently vampires can get youth if they drink enough blood? So that's a thing? Okay.

Thinking about factions and Vincent today

Usually I just say they're closest to the university because, even though that's not an in game faction, it is the most accurate (and they don't even have an actual account for it to matter anyway). If I were to pick an actual faction, it'd depend on where their story eventually ends up going. The options I have right now don't really have the deepest reasoning, but...

If they found out about the devils and bees, they'd be obsessed. Probably a bit too much. The need to know (and the power of a special interest) surpassing their anxiety, desperately trying to suck up and appeal to anyone to get more information. Ending up in circles that they know are definitely not good for them, just on the off chance of learning something new.

On the other hand, they do have a leaning towards the great game. Not for the usual spy shenanigans, mind you, but more for the surface connections. They still write to their parents back home and are always to know what the current Situation TM is up there. If someone wanted, say, updates on the neath in exchange for surface politics, they surely wouldn't be opposed... Just a few letters here and there wouldn't hurt.

hi hello this very tired looking lady is my ffx oc Edyss :3

The slightly cooler design on the left is supposed to be pre-ffx time, me and my besties made characters (i made a character and cried and begged them to make them too so they did ‼️) together and my pathetic self started rewriting the plot OF ffx with the new characters involved:

Edyss (mine) is 30 in the time of the main game, 20 back in Braska's story. She started as an artist, like a freelance crafter who worked on armour, weapons, even jewelry and accessories, all that kinda junk - and then she met Myga (my friend's oc, the al bhed guy in the first drawing and the one who gave her the black and red goggles teehee). The two of them [blah blah blah I won't rant too much, insert plot stuff here] shimmied their way into Braska's party yippee !! Myga uses and works with guns (machina, because y'know, al bhed things) and Edyss works on more traditional weapons and gear (swords, staves, regular ol armour).

Oh hey there's an Auron hidden in there because she's annoying and oh so bothersome to him! Her weapon was originally a claw/gauntlet of sorts - the one hanging off of her side in the left reference, but she eventually made a big official weapon for herself:

...as far as a personality, she's much more carefree and dorky during Braska's pilgrimage. Still pretty shy, but always curious about people and their weapons. She's a poor little freak of nature from Bevelle (the kind of loser who would skip classes to peep on warriors when they're in training because she wanted to be one.... and oh boy the things that did to her mental health 💀)
