Umm WTF? 2:45 a.m. just as the first Burger King King commercial did. They do this because they know that if the commercial doesn't go well with you they can just tell you that you were dreaming it, LOL

remember when gilette and nike and whatever started branding their commercials as 'short films'. this is the logical endpoint of that

the Gillette commercial just feels uncomfortable. It spends most of it's time showing bad things that not a whole lot of guys do and some of it even harmless (like the two boys in the backyard play wrestling) as if it's wrong. the commercial doesn't even feel like its about shaving like the Dollar Shave Club one with men and Drag Queens was. It feels like its telling men who dont even do these things that they need to do better in place of these bad men that they cant control.
Ok, for reference, this is the commercial.
1) one third of the commercial (30 seconds, :10-:40) is dedicated to what can be called “bad things that guys do”
2) this is not outlier behavior, see studies cited in my original reply.
3)
Tumblr media
4) the entire latter half of the commercial is about men speaking up, stepping in, peacefully intervening, and being a better bystander. It even shows real clips from viral videos of men breaking up fights and stopping violent behavior. There ARE things men can do to help, to speak up, to reduce the number of men who think that other men support and condone their behavior.
5) The emotion that you’re feeling is “defensive”. Breathe through it. Nobody hates you. Women aren’t coming for you. Our society has structural inequalities; it’s not your fault that it exists, but it is your responsibility to help fix it.

Ozai is the kind of person that would get offended with that Gilette commercial and that’s really saying something about the “men” today

If you believe toxic masculinity is a thing and you want to criticize it, fair enough.
But if that’s the case then you can’t deny toxic femininity isn’t a thing.

Honestly I kinda wish the Gillette commercial would have been broadcasted on the Super Bowl
White conservative "men" would be even more angry, and that would be really fucking funny

There's a new Gilette ad talking about how men shouldn't be assholes and I'm just,,, bathing in the tears of crybabies who feel offended by it. It's lovely. @ Gilette keep doing what you do best!!! Everybody go like the video and just give it love!!!

Feminine hygiene commercials are geared towards men because they make women look sexy and confident and suave. Could you imagine a razor commercial geared towards women? It would just be 20 minutes of someone stroking their leg going "hehe leg smooth" then walking around asking random people to touch it and then they would also say "hehe leg smooth"

I was showed this video in my English class and let me just say that I absolutely LOVED this video
And the comments are driving me insane
Many men are saying that this video is misandrist and sexist and that they are throwing out their gilette razors. The only people that are being offended by this video are the people who see themselves as the bully and the problem and are refusing to acknowledge that THEY are part of the problem. And excusing it with “so all men are rapists” and “but not all men do that” and “I don’t do that so it’s not a problem” makes you part of the problem
I would like to just point out that this video is getting more hate than love, and that is the main problem: that people, not men, but people, would rather be offended and reject the fact that they are the problem rather than acknowledge and fix it. The ad is trying to spread the idea that we can stop this behavior that is so toxic to society. Which brings me to the fact that many don’t even know what toxic masculinity IS. People are assuming that because the two words are associated that it means masculinity in general is toxic, but that ISNT THE CASE. For those who don’t know, toxic masculinity is where masculinity causes men to form into these stereotypes, where men are forced to hide their emotions and are bullied for not acting “masculine”. And the fact that people are being offended shows how much toxic masculinity is prominent in our daily lives.
I even saw some comments about how men are being forced to be more feminine, which just angers me to no end. And then they even had the audacity to say that if there weren’t any men, who would be our leaders and fighters??!!?! Which is just plain sexist and stupid.
And the worst part? Is that feminists are being blamed for spreading this “propaganda” and that it deserves all of these dislikes. This message is an IMPORTANT MESSAGE. Many men have not been told this before and it shows. They need to understand that this isn’t an attacking message but is supposed to be an inspiring message, a message that marks the beginning of change. But instead of growing up, they are being offended, stopping any progress that might be made.
Once again for people who can’t grasp this:
1) the problem is not masculinity, it’s TOXIC masculinity
2) the message is that there is a problem with how our society functions and it is a problem that you have the power to solve
3) if you are offended and defensive, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM, GROW UP
thank you, next
