Well, we couldn't stop ourselves from falling in love with a couple of very special dogs. This little character is The Goof Moose (Moosey). She is very nervous and shy around people, which has hindered her ability to be adopted, but we found she warmed up to us incredibly quickly. We'd like to fly her (or one of her other less fortunate neighbours) from Japan to the UK to live with us and really give her a chance for a great life outside the shelter. (We are establishing which dog, out of two, needs adoption the most, but one that can also suit our lifestyle and adapt to the UK. This treat bag, folks

So @dogs-on-logs mentioned the Etsy shop where she got her vests (https://www.etsy.com/shop/GiveADogAHome) and I went to look. The dog vests are very nicely designed and all but DID YOU SEE THAT TREAT BAG?

IT'S A HINGE. A ONE-HANDED HINGE.

Do you know how long I have been looking for a treat bag that stays open, but also closes easily? I have *so*many* fanny packs, including three I made myself, with zippers and velcro and stiff leather with flaps that fold over.

This beautiful thing has a hinge that pops open easily one-handed and pops closed too, like when a horse has spotted the source of the treats and wants to investigate:

... or (more importantly) keeping treats from falling out when I need to be bending over doing Chore Things. Or, you know, posting trot. (Or jogging, I suppose, I bet some people do that while out with their critters.)

There's so much room in there for dog treats, horse treats, the maker even suggests a couple tennis balls.

There's a pocket in the back perfect for sliding a phone in & out. I've been using it, it works great, but since I'm using the phone to take pics I have cardboard so you can see it. The sides are also pockets, the maker suggests using for poop bags & such.

Plus this front velcro pocket, which looks good for Coggins papers, ID, maybe a little cash, definitely pen and checkbook on farrier day, etc.

I initially thought that loop with the snap was going to be pleasantly handy for hanging the bag while not in use, but once I put it on I realized it was probably for attaching a dog leash. It is, of course, working great for hanging as well.

thank you, thank you, thank you for this ask! dog gear is a big obsession of mine. i check etsy for new gear every day, and i have, like, a ten foot long list of everything i want to get.

top five bits of dog gear that i currently own:

hurtta trail pack — very new. i absolutely love it. kima is clearly comfortable in it. when we were hiking last time, he stalked a few cyclists (y’know, in that stereotypical border collie way)! his former harness never gave him enough freedom to do that.

dog treat training pouch from giveadogahome — this pouch is perfect. it’s comfortable, it’s room-y, and it’s convenient. imo it’s well worth the $44 that i paid for it.

waves dog collar from buddyscollars — this collar looks fantastic on kima. everyone who notices it under his fur thinks it’s gorgeous. plus, it’s durable.

leashboss 1 inch nylon training lead with padded handle + drawstring backpack — love this leash. it holds up well in all weather, and it’s strong.

gogo pet products comfy nylon lead — even though i have my sights set on buying kima much more beautiful and functional leashes, i am extremely happy with this leash. i bought it when kima was young and still chewing on what ever his monster teeth could grab, and it’s held up very well. what i really like is the scissor clasp; it makes me feel especially safe when walking kima.

dog cooling coat by  — summers in missouri are absolute garbage. my boy is so hot. he needs cooling gear.

biothane leash & collar set — it’s waterproof! & the color would like nice on kima!

roma’s rainbow collection — obviously i need to get this. kima needs a pride month get-up plus i’d be supporting a fellow dogblr!

fire hose tug toy — he’s got enough toys for now, but eventually, i want to get kima one of these durable toys. mostly for training, but maybe for playing tug, too.

Violet went with mom to donate supplies to our local animal shelter. At first she was terrified since she came from a shelter but then mom told her they were there to help other fur babies and she got happy. Then she saw the dog house and things got real again. Even the sweet volunteer couldn't make Violet shake her nerves cause she could hear all the barking and meowing and she was scared she was going to be abandoned. She got better though as they walked back to the car but then got worried for all those precious fur babies and didn't wanna leave them. RESCUE A SHELTER PET TODAY. This sweet little guy has had waaay too much today with. His brother and him got separated after his brother was adopted. He was left behind wondering where his brother went. VERY hard on a dog!!!! Now he is very sad, heart broken into a million pieces and has no idea what happened. This little darling needs a new family and a reason to smile everyday. Please, give him that dream come true.

He has no name, just a number #A5463458, he's 10yrs old, extremely underweight (weighing only 8lbs), and he's blind in one eye. He's an adorable mess. He was brought in with his brother, and they were in pretty bad shape. I imagine they were scared, being in a scary place, surrounded by awful sounds, and scary people. But at least they had each other. Not anymore. His brother was adopted yesterday, and he was left behind and now he's all alone💔

No dog should be in a shelter and especially not a senior who obviously by the looks of him had a pretty shitty life before he was brought to and left at the shelter.
