The Five Solas of the Reformation

Scripture Alone | sola scriptura

That Scripture alone (the 39 books of the OT and the 27 books of the NT) is the sole rule and standard for faith and practice before God. (Luke 16:29, 31; 24:27, 44; 2 Tim. 3:15-16; John 5:46-47)

Christ Alone | solus Christus

That Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man. (Isa. 42:1; 1 Peter 1:19-20; Acts 3:22; Heb. 5:5-6; Psa. 2:6; Luke 1:33; Eph. 1:22-23; Heb. 1:2; Acts 17:31; Isa. 53:10; John 17:6; Rom. 8:30)

Grace Alone | sola gratia

That by God’s good pleasure alone, some men are saved to the praise of Christ’s glorious grace; others are left in their sin to their just condemnation, to the praise of His glorious justice. (1 Tim. 5:21; Matt. 25:34; Eph. 1:5-6; Rom. 9:22-23; Jude 1:4)

Faith Alone | sola fide

That grace of faith where people are enabled to believe to the saving of their souls, is the work of the Spirit of Christ in their hearts, and is ordinarily worked by the ministry of the preached Word. (2 Cor. 4:13; Eph. 2:8; Rom. 10:14, 17; Luke 17:5; 1 Peter 2:2; Acts 20:32)

Glory of God Alone | soli Deo gloria

Knowing that man’s chief and highest end is to glorify God, and fully to enjoy him forever, all holy duties Christians accomplish are exercised for God’s glory, by which He may pursue His own glory in us to the uttermost. (Rom. 11:36; 1 Cor. 10:31; Psa. 73:24-28)

#a moment i need to capture while it's still fresh #stargazing alone in the chill and damp of an august night #the crickets singing all around #northern lights filling the sky like nothing i've ever seen #the red colors even visible to the naked eye #pictures show the entire sky alight with red and green and blue #but they can't capture the delicate blue-white formations that i see with the naked eye #or the pulsing weaving swirling motion of the lights above #the high point of the night is looking straight up into the night sky #not north or south or east or west just up which is out toward space #not a direction tied to our world but out to god #and there were these constant swirling waves of light all pulsing toward the very center of the sky #and then a shooting star #the brightest and clearest of the night #streaks upward across the right-hand side #and after an evening of wanting to feel closer to god than i do when surrounded by his heavenly marvels #the prayer that comes to mind is 'glory'#glory to the father and to the son and to the holy spirit who created all this and let me see it #and there is no one to share it with #no way to capture what i'm seeing #no way to share this moment with anyone else #there is no one i'll be able to turn to and say #remember when we saw that shooting star in the middle of the northern lights?#this moment can't be captured or repeated it simply exists in this moment right now #it's beautiful and sad #and also a gift #i meant to stay out for maybe fifteen minutes #i was out there an hour and wish i didn't have to leave #and there was no way to share it but i had to try to share it with someone before i lost the moment

I drew Ahti II and his never before seen, very best friend Karleeen (three e's is intentional) for Halloween! They're dressed as Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens :) Someone likened Ahti II to Azi once and given that he already had a dark-haired "best friend" who is part edgy animal... it was only natural to have this costume arrangement. Please don't spoil anything about the show though, I am only in the first few episodes of season 1!!

On another note, imagine having to buy pants with eight pant legs. The cost would be insane...

God is Father. And He will meet you where ever you are, and do whatever is necessary. Nothing is too small, too big, too much of a hassle, too insignificant.

#in the past few years alone He has:#healed me from a 6 yr long ongoing heartbreak and ptsd from an abusive relationship that I psychologically just could not move past #given me 2 jobs that I absolutely love (and get paid better at) after I got fired from my 2 jobs for not getting vaxxed #calmed me during panic attacks and helped me endure bouts of suicidal ideation and psychosis #saved me from getting financially swindled and screwed during a car sale with a scammer who sold me a lemon #saved my 2 nephews and neice and they are now all baptized and professing Christians #helped me find little things I lost around my house #helped me find an apartment that really shouldnt be as affordable as it is for the area it's in #...is currently healing my eating disorder #...and much more.#He is worthy of all praise and ALL glory is His due. every good & perfect gift is from our Father #and I never ever want to ever be caught feeling less than blessed or unappreciative of the God we serve.

#before my fellow Catholics come at me #yes I know that the monstrance door would be shut and any accidentals would be carefully maintained #I know that leaving the body of Christ on the altar like that would not be what happens in real life #bc priests don’t want to desecrate the sacrament. I know this do not yell at me about this.#this piece was inspired by my complicated relationship to the Eucharist #because I am very rarely in a state where I can receive it. it just sits before me impersonal. a reminder of how bad I need to go to confess #but it’s very easy to forget that in essence. the host and wine *are* the body and blood.#and that further. we are the body of Christ. and our work cannot and should not be contained to the structure of the church alone.#the true meaning of the Eucharist is both flesh and spirit #God both escapes and rises above any attempt to contain His glory #there is no containing a miracle. no miracle is clean and neat and pretty and palatable. by nature it disrupts our status quo.#so the door to the monstrance is broken; God bleeds on the altar.#orchids paint
