Can I be honest for a hot second
I'm about seeing two more AI-generated fics away from deleting everything I've uploaded and never writing fanfic again
Because if people are happy with the slop the glorified text prediction produces, then it really doesn't matter, does it?
I don't matter
The work, the heart, the (frankly) mental and physical health I have sacrificed to make my works the best I can make them
Nothing of that matters
People just want CONTENT
Easily digestible, immediately at their fingertips whenever they want
They neither respect nor care about artists and writers and every other flavor of fandom creator
They just want to consume. And then discard it and consume the next piece. They don't care if it's stolen. They just want it NOW
People don't CARE anymore. So why should I
#fandom#writing#ao3#fanfiction#art#ai#anti ai#it's so demotivating#it's frustrating#i love writing#i love making up stories#and i love hearing from people about it#i love making people FEEL#but people don't want to feel anymore#they want to CONSUME and discard while they're waiting in line at the store#if you don't care about what you read#why should we care to write anything?#go forth and be happy with chatgpt#but know that whenever you like something it produces#it was STOLEN from a REAL PERSON#who put their heart into it#i fucking hate ai#it needs to die#nothing is fun anymore#this also applies to ai rpf#everything produced by an ai#if you're okay with ai generating fandom works#you don't care about fandom#and don't fucking whine about how fandom is dying#while you're twisting the knife

Anon wrote: Hi, I am 31M and wish to confirm whether I am an INFP or ENFP due to being unsure about which of the two types fits me better. In the past, I grew up in quite a violent environment and was bullied in high school for my appearance. I tried to get validation from my parents, but got dismissed and scolded for being 'weak'.
This soon unknowingly led me to lose touch with healthier Fi as I tried engaging in superficial 'friendships' by following other peer groups in class, despite being rejected by some of them using awful means, attracting attention in class for no reason and craving recognition for doing 'creative' stuff (which I did in a mini robotics showcase, winning an award).
I think I have Fi as I generally know what my likes and dislikes after experiencing them (jobs, food, people, etc) in my life. I also prefer individuality over conformity, disliking inauthenticity and corruption, and I would be quite opinionated about it. However, I believe it is unhealthy because the beliefs and morals I have used in my decision-making seems to be the opposite and contradictory (not being honest with myself and others). In the past, I have a tendency to take up jobs (warehouse assistant) that aggravate arthritis pain in my fingers and feet, although I already knew the repercussions in order to pacify my parents' complains for being unemployed. I don't really relate well with the other points except being seen as quite passive, flighty and uncommunicative.
I think I have Ne because my mind is always attracted to new and interesting things (online or offline) and often fantasize myself being in various scenarios (e.g. how I will look like being in various job fields that caught my interest, etc). I have also took interest in different kinds of jobs in the past but the interest tends to be short lived due to being distracted by new things appearing in my life. As of today, I still have no real direction for my career. I would feel disappointed when my family or relatives try to dismiss/shoot down my hopes for the future, though they can be unrealistic.
I find it enjoyable to be open-minded and resourceful as shown from my interest in comparing both astrology and MBTI (they are not really related). I would search up various descriptions of placements in astrology and try to connect them to the descriptions of the various functions in MBTI (e.g. Saturn in Capricorn can be seen as the Te-Si side of ESTJs (Order, responsibility, control) while being in Aquarius can be seen as the Ne-Fi (more open-minded and humanitarian) side of them when fully integrated). I would discuss these with various AIs (e.g. chatgpt, poe) and enjoy reading and replying to their opinions on my findings. I have also tried finding others' and my MBTI through analyzing our behaviors but ended up identifying with multiple different types back and forth without success.
I tend to appear optimistic and have a happy-go-lucky attitude with my life, while encouraging my friends who seem negative and have destructive views of the world around them, although I find it off-putting and frustrating to handle all the negativity.
I do dislike negativity and pessimism, which is shown from me trying hard to dismiss negative events that hold me back, unknowingly a detriment to my Fi and Si. I also tend to dislike people who tend to have too conventional views on life (getting a government job for job security, followed by marriage and children, then finally death) and getting too hung up on the past (why do they keep harping on it?). Lastly, I relate to being sensitive to being labelled to most, if not all of the attributes linked to Ne in the list (impractical, lacking common sense, careless, clumsy, scattered, inconsistent, unreliable, unpredictable, irresponsible, frivolous, manipulative).
Although I enjoy using Ne to do the above-mentioned stuff, I would say it is unhealthy because I have done nothing much to improve bad situations in life (e.g. not much progress in my career and having expectations that life can be smooth sailing if I remain optimistic and forward-looking).
I think I have unhealthy Si due to severe lack of focus on details in my life, such as jumping to new jobs/studies without knowing the full details of them, causing me to second-guess my choices and sometimes regret. I would also quickly dismiss my past as mentioned above, as I want to continue remaining optimistic and looking forward in life. This is also shown on my tendency to make recurring mistakes and then forgetting about them, unable to focus on the right thing due to being distracted by many stuff, getting tired and sick often due to having erratic routines for sleeping and meals. My degree studies and past jobs have suffered due to procrastination, leading to unfinished work/school assignments and sometimes even have to resort to working overnight to complete it. I am also picky about my comfort zones (dry toilets, keeping away from food/drinks that I dislike and can look quite passive/lazy to other people)
I think I have Te but it is also unhealthy. It is shown in me choosing to become violent when offended, releasing my negative emotions through hostile venting to others, having multiple fallouts with friends due to being too harsh and 'truthful' about their problems (although I managed to resolve the conflict eventually), choosing the fastest/easiest way to get out of impending trouble (e.g. Blaming others for my recurring mistakes at work and eventually choosing to leave the job, claiming 'problems' in the software being used to do my half-done work despite the problem being procrastination, and managed to fool my supervisor into giving more time to complete my work). I almost considered dropping out of university due to loss of 'newness' in my course (psychology related) and deteriorating grades, but after consulting with a school counselor, I decided not to.
Just a few days ago, I managed to find out the real motivations driving my behavior after many years, through deep introspection. I suffered from heightened abdomen and chest pains leading to a panic attack while discovering the truth and can't stop having flashbacks of my past behavior. Things have gotten slightly better as I wanted to move on to build skills and improve my resume, but it's still quite a struggle.
------------------------
There are enough signs of inferior Si + Si grip to strongly suggest ENFP is the correct type. Also, the fact that introverted function development is in a much sorrier state than extraverted function development is enough to determine E (over I).

Give The Dog A Bone
Whenever you are a heavy user of something, your friends and family take note. When it is their turn to buy something in a category in which you have expertise, they come calling with questions. Sometimes they even want you to go to a store with them, or online.
I have been there many times, having aided many people buying computers, cameras, and bicycles. Each of these can be expensive propositions, and it is understandable that someone lacking experience or knowledge would be nervous. It is fine to want someone to hold your hand while you are pulling the trigger.
That person who is the knowledgeable friend or family member is known as a market maven, and as long as people have to contemplate big purchases, there will be a need for them. Maybe you are one, or, more likely, have relied on one. But what if a company could provide one for you?
That’s exactly what is happening in the AI era. Although AI has been around for nearly a century, it is only in the last two years that it became a household word. While some fear the power of AI, the rest of us have been busy embracing it and figuring out how to use it to advantage. And we need look no farther than Amazon, which has now unleashed Rufus to all US shoppers.
Rufus is a personal shopping assistant, and is available on both desktop or laptop computer, and on their app. In fact, the app allows for both typed as well as voice queries. It can answer a wide variety of questions, much like you would put in a search bar, but Rufus can also go very granular, answering questions about the fit of a garment. It scans all of the posted product reviews, and aggregates them into a meaningful summary. Lastly, it can provide recommendations, not just suggestions.
Naturally, some people may be skeptical of a shopping tool provided by a retailer, because…well…it has a profit motive ultimately. That’s a fair criticism, but I took Rufus out for a walk and found it to do nothing of the sort. In fact, on some garments it provided enough negative information to give me pause.
As powerful as Rufus is, he is limited and is only as good as the information available. That’s true of AI tools in general, like ChatGPT, Claude, and the rest. In the case of Rufus, it can only convey product information that has already been provided by the manufacturer or Amazon, and when it comes to trickier questions like fit, quality of the fabric, accuracy of color, and so forth, it depends entirely on customer reviews.
That’s a whole other thorny issue, because we don’t really know what motivates people to write reviews in the first place. Are they market mavens? Or just disgruntled shoppers? The reviews section can be slanted when there is more of one than the other. I am a frequent contributor to Google Reviews of restaurants, hotels, and breweries, but I only write positive reviews. If I have a bad experience, I don’t recommend a place.
There are many customers, both happy and disappointed, who don’t write reviews, and their thoughts are not available for Rufus to parse. Rufus, you see, cannot go outside its own eco-system. You get what you pay for, which is nothing. Take it all with a grain of salt.
If you are an Amazon customer and take the time to scroll down an individual product’s page, you will find that Rufus is showing up there too, not just as a chatbot tool. Once you (finally) get down to the product reviews, you will see an AI summary of them, and it is identical to what Rufus would tell you if you asked. It’s a lot like the AI-enhanced Google results pages I’ve been seeing lately, with an AI-generated summary that appears at the top of the page, before any links for further reading.
Rufus is very smart. It cuts through the clutter, squeezing the juice out of oranges that may be overwhelming for shoppers. But it can’t mix that juice with anything else. If you want a mimosa, you have to provide the Champagne. But it’s a great start. Things will only get better from here. If you fear all of this technology, you don’t have to use it, but you also need to know that this is not going away.
Give the dog a bone. Write your review and be part of the process too. You may or may not be a market maven, but in a small way, you’ll be helping and holding the hand of many customers after you.
