I'm like 90% sure if I don't get more of your ghost au I may just implode so like 🥺👉👈
not necessarily my AU but i ended up drawing smth based on a scene from @novethegreat's fic, "In Love With A Ghost". ooohhhh you wanna read it so bad ooooohh
+more google doc delusions ive had in my head for a long time and havent been possessed to draw under the cut please work god please
i like to think once yosuke gets over the whole undead roommate thing he starts to feel bad for leaving yu at home all day. (like a pet dog.....) so at some point he invites chie and yukiko over. maybe it’s a study session. but at first yukiko can’t make it so it’s just chie. yosuke tells yu to stay put in the room since chie is scared of ghosts (just like yosuke she’ll never admit it though lol). chie says that she and yukiko have been working on a new recipe and offers to cook which yosuke shoots down Very quickly, offering to cook himself, since a "friend" of his has been teaching him-- he very conveniently leaves out the whole undead roommate thing. but when he’s preparing the food he accidentally cuts his finger. yu forgets what he’s told and rushes through the walls into the kitchen scaring chie on accident.
yosuke: OW shit
yu: (phasing through the wall) yosuke! are you ok?
chie: yosuke! are youuuuuuUUUUAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHH
yukiko, the occult lover, is unable to see/hear ghosts… but when she hears abt "OHHH HANAMURAS APT IS HAUNTED ITS SO SCARY ITS AWFUL!!! i mean the ghost didnt kill me or anything he was actually pretty polite but its AWFUL!!!!!!" from chie, she gets sooo excited and begs yosuke to invite her over (for the ghost obviously not for yosuke. which is a bit of a blow to his ego LOL). and she comes in with a ouija board so she can talk to yu
yukiko: so. where is it?
yosuke: his name is yu. damn, not even a hello.
yukiko: well, where is he?
yosuke: …right over there.
yu tries to play along bc he thinks its fun, to yosukes exasperation. however he has trouble staying solid for very long so it takes foreverrrrr. but basically i think yu and yukiko writing each other notes to communicate like point blank pen pals would be cute… also when the others are around who can hear yu, playing telephone with what he says to yukiko and fucking it up (on accident OR on purpose) would be rly funny

hi! hope you're having a good day :) idk if you still write for it but could you do a romantic yosuke hanamura/reader where reader convinces him to watch a scary movie with them? poor boy is scared SHITLESS but tries to put on a cool and brave front, ultimately giving up and cuddling with reader on the couch (maybe a hint of making out too if you feel like it lol)
┃A …Successful(?) Movie Night
₊˚⊹♡Yosuke Hanamura x gn reader
₊˚⊹♡wc: 748~
₊˚⊹♡warnings: fluff <33
₊˚⊹♡notes: Yooo Anon I do still write for Yosuke! Thanks for requesting~ Also, your request inspired another Yosuke fic so I thank you for that lol. Check it out here if you’re interested ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
₊˚⊹♡Main Masterlist
“Megan, Scream, or IT?” You ask.
His face contorts into something akin to disgust. “Can’t we watch something not.. horror related?” He begs inquiries.
“What? You scared?” Your knowing smirk matches the confidence in your tone, since you know Yosuke won’t back down from a challenge.
“No! Let’s watch Scream. That ghost face face dude isn’t all that scary anyway!” Yosuke retorts, with his arms crossed across his chest in defiance.
“Alright then.” You triumphantly do a little cheer before you load up the movie. Yosuke makes his way over to you, sitting beside you on the couch. He doesn’t protest, but his bouncing leg betrays his calm demeanor.
Once the movie is loaded you sit beside him, and he’s quick to close any distance between the two of you. His leg continues to bounce, a bit more frantically now, as the movie begins.
You eye him worriedly, thinking maybe this isn’t the best idea after all. Before you can suggest a different movie his leg suddenly stops bouncing and you feel a weight drape over your shoulder.
You turn your head to see Yosuke’s arm draped across your shoulders, and a goofy smile makes itself apparent on your lips.
Maybe you were worried over nothing? He seems alright now, surely things will be fine.
☆⋆。𖦹°‧★
“Oh my god oh my god no look oUT- AHHH!” Yosuke’s booming shout startles you more than the scene playing before you, and soon both of his arms are draped over you as he practically jumps in your lap.
You can’t help but snicker at the complete 180 this man’s attitude has done. Over the past half hour, he appeared to be unfazed and even enjoying the movie, a small smile on his lips as he watched the movie beside you.
Lo and behold, once the first “scary” moment occurred Yosuke’s facade crumbled to bits.
“Name, this is too much! Did you see the way he brutally- oh mY GOD!” Yosuke buries his face into the crook of your neck as loud shouts can be heard from the TV.
You tear your eyes away from the TV to look at Yosuke. His fluffy hair all but obscures your vision anyway, and a quiet sigh of resignation escapes your lips.
You gaze at his trembling form with the fondness and adoration of a lovesick fool.
You wordlessly change the movie, putting on some random trending show on Netflix instead of continuing the movie.
Yosuke takes awhile to notice, still trembling in your arms, so you wrap said arms around him and rest your head on top of his.
It isn’t long before your movie night transforms into a cuddle session.
Yosuke’s blissful sigh reaches your ears, and his body relaxes. Your fingers gently card through his fluffy head; his hair feels like the soft touch of a cloud against your fingertips.
“You okay now?” You can’t help but tease him. “Oh, shut up.” His grumbled reply only serves to make you smile.
He finally removes his face from your shoulder, and your heart lurches when his eyes immediately search for yours. “Sorry if I ruined our movie night..” Yosuke’s sheepish apology, coupled with his forlorn expression, elicits a coo out of you.
He’s so cute.
“You didn’t ruin anything Yosuke. Sorry, next time I’ll pick a movie I’m sure we can both enjoy.” His eyes widen in surprise at your thoughtful words. His mouth parts to reply, but your lips capture his before any sound can escape.
He’s startled, yet he wastes no time in returning your sweet kiss. Your eyes close as your fingers find purchase in his soft brown locks. You feel his arms wrap around you, pulling you into him as you share a pleasant kiss.
You pull back, but his lips are on yours once more.
Oh, how you adore the way his lips curl up against yours in a small smile.
You feel pure bliss and tranquility as you bask in Yosuke’s warm embrace. When you two part once again, Yosuke’s lips press against your nose, your cheek, and your forehead before they gravitate towards your mouth yet again.
Your body melts against his, and his arms gingerly cradle you against him. A monet passes before his lips regrettably leave yours, although your lungs thank you for the opportunity to breathe.
“If this is how all of our movie nights will go, we should do this more often.” His cheeky suggestion earns him another kiss to his inviting lips.

oh god where did i leave off. oh fuck i left off with THAT? oh geez sorry
in my defense, the music in the next area is great so i didn't want to leave and i'm almost to the boss i think? Reverie, Yukiko, and Kanji make a DEADLY team, and while I am Big Mad at Yosuke:
he starts every battle first and has tentafoo/Cause Panic. so. he's just maddeningly useful, idk what to say.
Huh I somehow thought the other character was next but it's Rise time!
Man. I like Rise a lot. Out of all the romance options she's the only one I'm considering at all because she's neat. Rise is an idol who is taking a break from the business to return home to Inaba and recuperate. And right from go, she is just on another level from everyone else.
She knows about the Midnight Channel (though doesn't understand it's a supernatural hit list yet) and is aware of the dangers around her. The Idol business in all its forms across the world fucking Sucks and it's clear to see it's had an effect on her, like emotional stretch marks from having to mature really fucking fast. She's been in her late 20s since she was 13 and it shows.
Oh and she's working in her family's tofu shop for the time being.
/googles ganmodoki
oh i would try this in a fucking heartbeat. Also, Yosuke, bro, what do you mean you don't eat tofu. Like... no tofu ever? I'm American and I eat tofu. It's good.
(I do genuinely want to eat more tofu but I cook for a whole household and they are less willing to let me experiment with tofu. Please pity me. 8C I heard if you squeeze out all the liquid or even freeze them first, they become really easy to fry? Anyway. Sorry, I cook a lot.)
Anyway aw shit Rise inadvertently reveals to Dojima that we're working this case. Worse, Dojima is not immediately angry or confrontational about it. OH NO, he purposefully avoids being confrontational about it.
Instead he puts Adachi on our tail.
Look at that man's face. Does this motherfucker have a single candle on behind those eyes.
Which leads to discovering a stalker who Adachi arrests as the murderer.
GODDAMMIT ADACHI. Whatever, it gets him out of our fucking hair.
buuuuut in that time, Rise got got. goddddddfuckingdammit.
An idol who's shadow self is on some level genuinely an exhibitionist. Whoo boy that's... a lot. Also, out of all the shadows, I find Rise's the most creepy, weirdly? Maybe because Idol Culture scares the shit out of me and I don't even remotely understand the appeal. It's like this terrifying black box of concepts I can't divine anything out of.
In TV World, I feel SUPER BAD for Teddie. I keep flying through these dungeons in one or two days and not really coming back to the TV World to see him. Which is a shame because I genuinely love Teddie! I think he's top three characters for me right now.
I was trained in the unhallowed halls of Tartarus, I know how to curbstomp a dungeon, okay? I wish I was around more for Teddie. 8C
YOSUKE HANAMURA WE ARE GONNA STEP OUTSIDE IF YOU MAKE TEDDIE SAD, DO YOU HEAR ME?
i just went from Big Mad to cackle in like a minute. CHIE OH MY GOD. "Aw buddy, you're sad? Yeah, you can hit on me, I'm cool with that!" i'm dying. it kind of says a lot about Chie's opinion of Teddie vs everyone else since she's the one who shoved the boys into the river at camp.
She has standards, is what I'm saying, and I respect them immensely.
say what
omg yes yes yes yes yes yes lemme see it what is it
STAR SOCIAL LINK: GET. THE STAR IS SO FUCKING GOOD FOR TEDDIE TOO! The Star comes after darkness has fallen and you are lost in the night with no sense of direction. It is the pinprick of light in the distance, the hope that gets your feet moving again after the despair has settled in. It is not a promise of warm or answers or completion, but it is sign that the story is not over, that you aren't over, and encourages you to follow to the next page.
TEDDIE IS GREAT FOR THE STAR, AAAAAAH!!!!!

oh jeez fantasy with a prophecy au
idk whatever kind of prophecy my brain can spit out but it has something to do with a sun-blessed prince of the Hanamuras trapped in a tower and a mighty beast to guard him or something like that, which is why everyone thinks it's teddie at first. like, blond hair, blue eyes, extremely sunny disposition?? there ain't no way it isn't him.
This makes his parents very sad, because they know he's going to be stuck in a tower at 18 (at least thats how the prophecy went) but at least he'll be safe. but in the meantime, they'll have to lavish all the love they can onto him while he's still here.
unfortunately, this means that they kind of priorise teddie over yosuke. doesn't help that teddie is more or less beloved by the kingdom and anyone that has heard of the prophecy goes "oh you poor thing" to teddie, which makes yosuke feel like hey! everyone clearly likes teddie more, why do i even exist! i'm kind of a fuck up compared to him aren't i!
until like idk few months after he turns 18, yosuke is literally right outside and a tower cage starts growing, and captures him. as it turns out, some wicked witch having heard that teddie is supposedly the prophesied prince, decides that it really wouldn't hurt to take the other prince as ransom or for power or something idk and teleports him somewhere not quite far away, but not quite close to the Hanamuras' kingdom.
unluckily enough teddie happens to be caught up in it all as well, but the thing is. the witch has never seen the hanamura princes before. they have no idea what teddie looks like. which is why they have no idea that he's like legitimately the so-called sun-blessed prince. the moment they spot him, they go "well i do need someone to chase off any knights and whatnot the king and queen might send this way" and turns teddie into a dragon.
the spell fucks up a bit so teddie still has complete control over his thoughts and control over his new... dragon body. if the witch shows up tho, he doesn't really have anymore free command over his body. the witch kind of binds him to the tower as well, so he can't really leave. not that he would want to leave yosuke behind, of course.
now yosuke's panicking because a) teddie's now a dragon and b) this is ALL my fault oh god what do i do this is such a massive fuck up in the big fuck up that is me
he can't really escape, theres no way out and if teddie's bound to the tower like hell he's not going to try and find a way to get him unbound. and hey, at least the tower has food and someplace to bathe.
like a month passes and yosuke still hasnt found a way out of his situation. it's easier to beat himself up, but even that's grown mind numbingly boring. all he can do is sit there and wait, like some damsel waiting to be rescued. teddie however is kind of having a nice time being a dragon. he does not tell yosuke this tho.
One day later, Seta Souji is summoned to find Prince Yosuke.
(- theres a part of the au where teddie thought that if he went along with the prophecy it would make everyone happy, especially yosuke. but he's happier being a dragon than the sun-blessed prince that he's apparently meant to be.)

Seen here: Me IRL jumping because I was so concerned about Morgana that I fucking didn't notice Akechi was here until the little card icon appeared. BEIGE ALERT.
Akechi bro this is like not a good time but also i'm worried about missing flags for the extra content so I guess we can hang. (Morgana, I know you are going through a crisis rn but pls forgive me okay.)
man i haven't taken a bath in probably about 15 years, are they that good? my friend sent bath salts from japan, i should just try them. people are super into baths in this game.
oh because apparently they are some key to heart-to-hearts I guess???
wow that is a Lot
I was joking to cardiganism that something about Akechi makes me want to study him under a microscope. They said probably because out of the whole cast, he's the most opaque. Which, yep, honestly.
If the seed of Akechi's justice is wanting revenge for the mistreatment of his mother by his absentee father, that's... potentially high-minded?
Honestly a later moment from Akechi is way more interesting so I'll hold until then.
jfc are you my Vriska, what is this? what's the term? The pathologically competitive?
Is that true?
You know what's weirdly rare in video games? Liars. I feel like when it comes to quests for truth and understanding in games, the usual force pushing back is unrevealed information, not someone giving you false information. And in the games where outright lies are used, they tend to be used sparingly, as a second act twist that sets up the rest of the plot.
I think it's less common to have to deal with a character that just lies to you continuously without any real indication that you are being told a lie. Akechi itches at me because he's not, like, the Citadel Council keeping big secrets from the galactic community. He's a guy who is lying and I don't have any context for what the truth is.
Anyway, I guess it's time for the class trip.
... Mishima, I'm not going to nonconsensually change the heart of someone who cheats at video games.
WHY DOES NO ONE IN THIS GAME TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF BEING A PHANTOM THIEF SERIOUSLY? This is why I have always hated the Phansite and I especially hate the "rankings."
Also, I know this is shocking news, but I love Futaba. The realism of this is great.
Also hey I'm up to 9 for Yoshida, and is that the big reveal for every Confidant? That they totally knew you were a Thief the whole time? That'd be super funny. Bc I think Yoshida knows too.
DO NOT PULL A FUCKING NAOTO SHIROGANE, AKECHI, I SWEAR TO GOD. I WILL LEAVE YOUR ASS TO GET EATEN BY FOG.
I wanna reach through the screen and shake Reverie. Morgana is seriously on the verge of a breakdown, isn't comfortable reaching out for help, and you're LEAVING HIM FOR A TRIP TO HAWAII.
WHICH: SPOILER. SUPER SUCKS EXCEPT FOR YUSUKE ONCE AGAIN, SHOCKER
/puts head on desk and yells
they really did work to make joker the MOST pretty huh
god i thought the beach trip was boring but the hawaii trip actively sucks
it's just Ryuji wanting to get laid so bad he does splash damage of suck to everyone around him...
(what the fuck ryuji, chill the fuck out, this shit made me fucking uncomfortable)
Mishima literally refusing to talk about anything except the Phansite's Alexa Traffic ranking
And Yusuke being the fucking load-bearing column of this entire game I swear to god. He is the only reason I did not just press fast-forward and skip this ENTIRE section. It was miserable.
Atlus. Atlus. Atlus. Stop fucking punishing me for not having a romance locked in these games. This whole segment was more excruciating than Yosuke Hanamura's Joker Mode. I'm dead serious. It was less homophobic but something felt more homophobic to me specifically. I think because my was of reacting were much more locked down. Whatever.
God, send me back to Japan so I can check on the people I care about. (Ann, Yusuke, not you, I'll never be mad at you, I love you both. If I got to spend this trip having mai-tais with you, it would have been a blast.)
OH SIDEBAR:
motherfucker where have you been, I have been trying to talk to you since school started and you just blow me off! rude!
I don't think Maruki is a good therapist but I think he's decent with people. He notices Futaba and Morgana talking and uses it as a springboard for conversation. Or, tries anyway. Futaba is still working on being observed by other humans. We know how that is.
Then, Futaba sees that Maruki..... has a book on cognitive psience. And Sojiro immediately tries to throw him out but Futaba is like "chillax" and actually talks to him.
Maruki notices the past-tense and tells Futaba that her mother sounds cool and would be proud of her.
He's a nice guy.
However. He's working with Reverie to talk through basically the necessity of pain and trauma in people's lives, has mentioned wishing that pain was curable through more easily actionable means, and is toting a book on cognitive psience.
there is not enough side-eye in the world.
Hey Maruki, can I see your phone real quick, do you have a weird malware app on there?
Out of images, whup.

How about this!
When did you first discover souyo and what made you get into it?
oh my god thank you i owe you my life bc now i have an excuse to talk about souyo and my personal opinions, my favorite thing to do /lh
i only got into souyo july 2022 when i started playing p4g after buying it for steam... i have said this a million times to my friends but yosuke is exactly my type of male character (flirty, obnoxiously straight, a bit annoying and pushy with girls but secretly deeply insecure/jealous/attached to another guy lol) so i kind of knew from the very beginning i would be attached, i just didnt know HOW attached i would get... i think the tipping point is because yosuke is just super super cute in my opinion and i have a weak point for brunettes lol, on his own he powers like 80% of my brainrot
i do not think i have ever been this obsessed with a character, usually i just lurk in fandoms and look at other peoples' fanart/fanfics and whatnot, i think at the end of last august i was like "okay if this is a normal hyperfixation (not sure if i should use this phrase but if the shoe fits...) it will go away soon" and now it's been. over a year. so thanks yosuke hanamura
to be honest i think i'm a souyo fan by virtue of being a yosuke fan. like i grew to love souji a lot but if yosuke was not in p4 i would not be where i am right now
anyways tl;dr i like souyo because

“Hanamura.”
Dojima’s voice cut through the heavy silence, the loudness of Yosuke’s thoughts.
He looked up from the table, from his food. “Yes?”
Dojima picked up the breakfast dishes, meagre though it had been. Breakfast was breakfast, and it was surprisingly easy to find resources for it. The Shadows didn’t need them, so they were left well alone. Half the people in town had left during the initial wave, which meant more resources as well.
All in all, not the worst apocalypse Yosuke could have found himself in.
“Mind trading with Nanako as a healer for a bit? She’s starting to come down with something, and I don’t want it to get worse from overworking.”
Dojima stood at the sink, the tap water running. Yu got up and gently nudged him aside, taking his place.
Dojima frowned, but allowed it.
“Yeah, I can do that. Nanako, make sure to tell us if you ever feel bad, okay? We don’t want you hurting yourself,” Yosuke replied. Nanako looked up from her notebook and nodded, before continuing to scrawl in her little six-year-old handwriting.
Dojima approached him, placing a hand on his shoulder. Warm, comforting. Well-meaning, not to strangle him in his sleep like the icy one of Yu-
“Are you okay, Hanamura? You seem out of it,” Dojima asked, brows furrowed in worry. Yosuke looked away, fidgeting with his long-broken headphones.
“Had a nightmare. Kinda- No, really messed me up,” Yosuke muttered, trying to keep his gaze anywhere besides Dojima.
Dojima sat down next to him, attentive and listening. Chie, who had been sitting in the living room, somehow managed to subtly usher Nanako away, into a different room that they had built onto the house.
“What was it about?” Dojima asked. Yu, who was still washing dishes, stilled, listening.
“...Everyone had died. I couldn’t- I couldn’t save any of you. I tried to save you and Nanako, but-”
He drew a deep breath, trembling. “When I came back to the southern shopping district- The rest of the team had died together. Naoto and Rise, Kanji and Teddie, Chie and Yukiko. But- Yu hadn’t. He was alone. God, I- It was a nightmare but it felt so real. I feel like I should have done more, even though there was nothing I could do.”
Dojima silently wrapped his arms around Yosuke’s shoulders, warm and safe. Comforting.
Warm. Safe. No threat of danger.
“It’ll be okay. I know how much that kind of nightmare messes with you. We’ll keep each other safe, alright? That won’t happen. We’ll make sure of it.”
Yosuke nodded, burying his face into the soft fabric of Dojima’s shirt.
Everything would be okay. They would be okay.
SCREAMING GOING INSANE ALSKNDFBDNDDJDBBDDJJ YOSUKE AND DOJIMA DYNAMIC AAAHHHHH its perfect mav i dont know what else to say.

one very weird and specific brainworm that always persist in my mind is Yosuke as the seemingly flawed-person-but-always-tries-his-best in the relationship having an angelic type of boyfriend who is secretly not-so-nice to Yosuke, but ofc it's not obvious to anyone else (besides Souji probably) and Yosuke also never brought anything up because he thought it's no problem, it's probably his own fault anyway. And his boyfriend is awesome so, lucky him.
Also i'd love for this to be a comedy, but the one that leaves an underlying bitter taste. Like Yosuke being left standing for two hours in the rain waiting for his boyfriend who never came for their supposed date, but portrayed in a funny light
(it's still painful but it's forcing you to laugh awkwardly at it. I feel like this type of "angst" fits Yosuke Hanamura the best. Plus this kind of setup in the beginning tend to give even more of an emotional impact the moment things ACTUALLY got serious later on)
Also there is a typical "shovel talk" and stuff like that
("Oh god Yosuke what did you do?"
"Yosuke, if you make him cry..."
"Yikes! Yes ma'am!")
etc etc whatever
Idk man but this kinda shit gets me going.

pq2 thoughts after finishing it!:
i think. it is a g. game. it is a persona game i will admit!
no but srs i think its good if youve never played a persona game which i assume is why its on 3ds only. it really does feel like discount persona with all of the last three cast thrown in? and some of the gameplay improvements (this game's gameplay aged better than fes and p2's LMAOO) i guess its a compromise to reach fans who've never actually played the main games cause they dont own a playstation console or something.
at the same time it makes no sense for "new fans" to play because you need at least some background knowledge of the prev characters and plot to care.
in my case i knew everything abt p3 and p5, only osmosis knowledge of the plot of p4 so i ended up using the p4 cast the least in my playthrough :( so theres that. not worth playing if u dont care abt the other casts imo
...so we agree the characters are the selling point here, its advertised as a mega crossover and whatever but. people complaining that theyre "watered down" to base traits or even traits they didnt have in the first place are Right LOL except for a scant few characters who get a lot of expansion. but for the most part none of them are themselves (like yusuke... 😔.... akihiko.... aki not as bad as yusuke but they have the same writing problem)
no one expects the characters to rly individually shine when theres so many ofc, the game even pokes fun at the "limited screen time" joke but like. what else is there to this? 🤔 well
character interactions! those were good. everyone expected detective princes meetup to be really great but i loved the other pairs like haru and mitsuru (heirs with distant dads...), and the PQ OC girl with futaba :] (introvert friends!!)(theyre like sucrose and collei in this year's windblume if you go there)
speaking of akechi though. yea he's part of the list of characters that surprisingly did not get butchered and in fact expanded upon in this game. aside from akechi it's P3 FeMC.
others i liked were P5 MC (his dialogue choices are SO out there), shinjiro aragaki, ken amada, yukiko amagi maybe yosuke hanamura and P4MC but their personalities just stayed the same instead of getting possible new insight?
i liked velvet room guys too theyre goated frfr! yes including marie. even i was surprised (probably cause akechi gets to poke fun at her and the twins hdjdhdhd)(cute)
i cant put P3 male MC anywhere cause i will always be biased towards him 😔🫰 (he was great btw)
but the crow character expansion in particular intrigued me and leads me to accept this game as canon like some ATLUS USA reps intended. akechi: stripped away of his obligations is a cunning, introspective and overall respectable young man and the game showcased all of his core traits well. he purposefully isolates himself from the main group and gets called out on it, consistently is the one that makes the most sense in discussions, gets various little moe moments... he honestly seems like he doesnt know what to make of all this forced bonding with strangers but he cant help to indulge anyway. 😭 he's vocal in discussions about their plans but a passive :) face in the background during fun moments until he's addressed or curious. the way he furthers the narrative along like they wouldnt get as far as they did without him i feel. but between all of that he was the main character to me.
the end scene where he seems regretful that he has to leave and go back to his revenge plot.... hurts. because for all intents and purposes we just saw akechi if he didnt have all that baggage and was just allowed to exist as himself. a smart guy with a whole life ahead of him. but he didnt choose that.
😔
oh god that emoji is huge but anyway. FeMC!! ^_^ the problems of toxic positivity being addressed in her arc was great. they really tried to give her as much love as possible without being too happy (persona games tend to make their characters suffer anyway to even things out) and it was great! her writing reminds me of kasumire's mental illness but with less romance tease pandering.
ah yes and the obligatory Persona side game OC... hikari and nagi. honestly wished they didnt exist as much as i liked hikari's thing 😔 it got old and outright cringe man im sorry like surely the devs could come up with something better than this?? way to not explain enlil and mess with the in-universe power scaling too LMAO. 2/10 is being generous!
anyway its a fairly short game in persona standards so i cant really say it's time wasted when i got so many character interaction crumbs..... i guess i lucked out by liking the characters that i do instead of ones that kinda got shafted in this. (except for aki but 😔 i just kinda accepted his blown out of proportions awkwardness outside of P3)
it's..... a 6/10 from me overall! music and velvet room attendants + nanako cameo DLC carried

god fuckign dammit i cant stop thinking about thefucking hospital scene
just rewatched it and i don't want to spend 5 hours formatting a long unhinged twitter thread so here we are. i am mishmashing the game and anime and manga scenes together in my personal canon blender. p4 spoilers of course
cause like, naoto is the one to suggest they throw namatame into the TV. and kanji's on board with it too. but the one yu has to fight over it, the one yu has to think carefully about and talk down, is fucking yosuke hanamura.
of course everyone has a personal stake in it considering namatame was going around kidnapping everyone, but yosuke specifically...
he phrases it like "we have to stop him before he hurts anyone else," but it seems like a big part of his motive is revenge. saki's kindness meant a lot to him, regardless of how real it was, or selfish his motive is, and it wasn't fair she had to die. so now he's gonna kill namatame. and it doesn't matter if that goes against his morals, or if no one else is willing to do it. he is absolutely dead set on killing namatame (pun intended). the only thing stopping him from doing it is yu.
it's ironic looking back. because like yosuke, namatame also lost someone important to him, and is trying to use his power to do what he thinks is right in his own way... just like yosuke wanted to be a hero, namatame wanted to be a savior, but yosuke is too blinded by rage in the moment to see that. the big difference is who got to them first. yosuke's had yu with him the whole time to keep him grounded, and eventually, the whole investigation team- namatame got adachi.
(side note- i more often think about yosuke+adachi parallels; how they're both bored with everything, but yosuke has the team and adachi pushes everyone away, but that's not really relevant rn lol)
there's also the scene where yu goes to confront the true killer alone, and yosuke's waiting outside when he comes back. and at that point he's not angry anymore, just… disappointed. (feelsbadman) but i don't think it's because he changed his mind.
after you calm him down in the hospital, he's STILL thinking about doing it:
(another side note- the va in this scene is top notch. this line gave me chills rewatching it. first time i saw the hospital scene i was getting a little scared lol)
and after learning the true killer's identity he fucking hates adachi. even after defeating him he never really forgives him. he still gets pissed and tries to attack adachi when he shows up unexpectedly in ultimax:
yosuke was 100% willing to kill someone, and he'd 100% do it again if his partner gave the okay. but as much as he hates adachi, he understands that he's important to yu, enough to know yu would break their promise and sneak into the TV alone. and despite how he might feel, he doesn't want yu to lose someone important to him too.
there's also the scene in the anime after the hospital, where after yu tries to send everyone home promising he'll be okay, yosuke comes back to comfort him. he's still upset, but he's deferring to yu's leadership and more importantly, making sure that his partner is okay comes first.
that's why i think it's great the anime puts the fist fight after the hospital scene. cause he spends his whole social link struggling with his grief and insecurity and jealousy; and then, in december, with tensions running high and these nasty revelations about himself and awful feelings swirling inside, it all finally comes to a head. and he tries to get it all out in the only way he knows how: two dudes beating the shit out of each other. Thats True Love Babey.
not much of a point to all this, except that i really love yosuke's character (and souyo) lol. something is wrong with him. I Know What He Is. he's like the team mood maker and he's always joking around (and i think golden especially looooves to play him up for comic relief), but perhaps the moments when he lets the veneer slip are the moments where he shines the most.

i have to choose an obvious cliche… how about the move attract
hello i love cliches! here is souyo
This was officially the last time Yosuke went shopping with Yu.
"Partner, what're you doing?" Yosuke sighed, pointedly keeping his gaze away as he folded his arms across his chest.
Yu, who was struggling to keep the yellow, sparkly ribbon balanced on his head, bit back a smile and crept into Yosuke's line of vision. He fixed a pout on his face when he was certain Yosuke could see him. "Hanamura-kun, look at me please," he said, voice pitched high. Well, as high as Yu could go anyway.
Yosuke snorted at the voice and turned away. "No way. We're not doing this in fucking Croco Fur."
"H-Hana--" Yu interrupted himself with a snicker. He set his hands on Yosuke's shoulders and whirled him around. "Hanamura-kun, am I pretty yet?"
Yosuke opened his mouth, brain flickering between a "Stop calling me that" and a "Dude, cut it out" before all his thoughts went crashing down.
He'd always known Yu was good-looking; if it wasn't his own two eyes that told him that, it was the horde of confessions Yu received throughout the school year.
But this was unfair. Yu looking at him like this--lips quivering from the effort it took to keep it in a pout, laughter bubbling in his throat, eyes crinkled and shining--it was so unfair. Even with that stupid yellow sparkly ribbon on his head, he was still so unfairly attractive just by virtue of being Yu.
Or maybe Yosuke had a thing for partners in stupid ribbons. Either way, it was stupid that Yu managed to attract him with something as stupid as this, and he was over it.
Yosuke shoved Yu’s face away, rolling his eyes and pretending he couldn’t feel the heat on his face when Yu laughed. “Shut the hell up and focus. You’re the one who wanted costumes for the team.”
Yu hummed in agreement, moving to pull the ribbon out of his hair. He turned to return it to its rightful place on the store aisle.
Yosuke turned away.
God, Yu had no idea what he did to him.
