Veritas Ratio: The Rogue of Light
Rogue: The passive stealing class
One who steals aspect for others
Alternatively, one who shares or one who redistributes aspect with others
Light
Abstract: Knowledge, Awareness, Attention, Relevance, Fortune, Luck
Literal: Actual Light (Brightness), Vision, Eyes, the Sun, Stars
Tumblr media
This is gonna become a series isn't it?
It is. Now let's get going on discussing everyone's favorite interstellar scholar: Dr. Veritas Ratio!!
Let's get the obvious out of the way: His aspect.
Tumblr media
Light is more commonly known as the aspect of knowledge. But instead of talking about he’s light-bound personality wise, why don’t we shake things up a bit? We know that he's a smart and knowledgeable man, but what more can his aspect offer for us aside from that?
To fit with Ratio's Greco-Roman theming, I'll briefly discuss the World of Ideas in Plato's allegory of the Cave.
Forgive me to if I do get the allegory wrong and please feel free to correct me!
The gist of this is that ordinary people are like prisoners chained to a cave, only able to perceive reality through shadow puppets and the distorted noises that bounce off the cave walls. These prisoners were born in the cave and had been raised in the cave, not knowing anything else outside of it; ignorance. It's only when they break out of their chains do these prisoners start their path to enlightenment and they achieve it so once they see the bright sun outside of their cave; the World of Ideas.
Ratio seeks to break everyone from the chains of ignorance and guide them towards enlightenment through spreading his knowledge throughout the universe.
Tumblr media
Ratio is the man who would forcefully break the prisoners' chains and nudge them towards the light, as much as he could anyways.
And for one specific character, he hopes it is enough.
Tumblr media
We'll get back to him later! Next I want to talk about is Ratio and his connection to Christian Gnosticism, which likely had served as inspiration for the concept of the Light aspect in Homestuck. I will be borrowing ideas from one of optimisticDualist's essays so I highly recommend giving it a quick read before continuing onward.
According to Gnostic myth, the world was created through the desires of an aeon named Sophia, an Emanator of light. I should also note that the Greek word for wisdom is Σοφία.
Sophia longed to understand God in His entirety, but in doing so she committed treason and was thus cast out of heaven. Her desire gave birth to Yaldabaoth: a blind, violent, and ignorant god who knew nothing but himself. He created the material world that you and I perceive, shielded from the light of Sophia that birthed him. Because a blind god made the world in his image, the denizens of his earth are also blind to Sophia.
So what do banished gods have to do with the purple guy?
Well, just like Archimedes and screws, things come back around. In order to save yourself from Yaldabaoth’s world, one must be delivered a certain knowledge that is delivered by a “messenger of light” and thus gain the ability to perceive Sophia and her World of Ideas.
In other words, salvation can be sought in what Gnosticism calls a gnosis.
However, one cannot just simply be gifted a gnosis. Those who seek Sophia’s salvation must be driven to reach it, reach beyond the Demiurge’s dark and imprisoning world and into the intangible, bright world above.
Doesn’t that sound familiar?
Tumblr media
By Gnostic definition, Ratio should be an Emanator of wisdom, helping curing others of ignorance and helping them on their way towards enlightenment. Hell, you can even say that he's a sylph with all the constant allusions to healing and helping, especially since that Ratio's a Doctor.
Tumblr media
However, we all know that this isn't true. Within Ratio's character stories, it can be inferred that his one goal in life is to become an Emanator of the Erudition. His arduous pursuit of knowledge was likely all in hopes in attracting Nous' gaze.
Yet, despite all his efforts, Ratio was never spared a glance
Tumblr media
Dr. Ratio is a model Emanator of wisdom by Gnostic standards, yet within his own universe his Aeon of Erudition does not acknowledge him. No matter how hard he tries, he will never reach the status of a member of the Genius society, almost as if he wasn't destined to be a part of it.
Let’s talk about his class: The rogue.
Rogues in Homestuck are the outcasts of their societies. They're loners, isolated, unable to fit in with the groups they want to identify in.
Rogue of Heart Nepeta Leijon lives alone in Alternia's wilderness far from troll society with her lusus as her only companion that is physically close to her.
She's been explicitly described as lonely, creating comics and ships of herself and her friends in order to mitigate her feelings of isolation from other trolls:
Tumblr media
Then there's Rogue of Void Roxy Lalonde, who for her first 16 years of life was the only human within her town of carapaces, whom she provides food for. The only other human in her post-apocalyptic world is more than 1700 miles away.
Being a Void-Bound, her isolation is very much apparent, but her loneliness reaches its apex during her bad end in her Pesterquest route. Drinking herself to a stupor as the undeserving consequences of seeing her mother just once consumes her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then Rogue of Breath Rufioh Nitram, who was seen as a mutant for his wings and thus was avoided by his fellow trolls, which took a blow on his self-esteem.
Tumblr media
Rogues also struggle with a surplus of their aspect and trying to cope up with that extra while it consumes them. Nepeta taking on the personas of other people through roleplaying, as well as her cave walls being covered in shipping grids. Rufioh living a literally directionless grubhood as travels with a nomadic group called the Lost Weaboos, not to mention his wings, a symbol of freedom, being the cause of why he views himself so lowly. And then there's Roxy, who feels so alone in the carapacian bastion that she fills that void with insobriety, befuddling her mind.
So what does this have to say about Dr. Ratio? All three rogues here have exhibited some type of self-worth issues and a desire to connect with others, but due to being so engulfed by their aspect, it hinders them from reaching that goal...
What if tiny Ratio exhibited such intellect at such a young age that throughout his childhood, he was told that he would be a great scholar growing up? Maybe his genius would earn him a spot within the Genius Society. He was even admitted into a university during his adolescent years.
Tumblr media
As that is impressive as that sounds, can you imagine how isolating that can be for a child? Ratio, the only kid in class with his classmates years above him, talking about things outside of academia that he's too young to understand. Meanwhile Ratio likely doesn't interact with those his age as they couldn't provide anything to stimulate his brain. It could also be vice-versa too: Ratio trying to talk to them about topics far beyond their comprehension and they just start to distance themselves from him, unable to understand him, making an outcast out of him.
His intelligence and genius isolates him from making any genuine friendships during his formal years of life. At least, any that we know of before 2.1.
This loneliness does seem to follow him well into his adulthood as well: Becoming a celebrity comes with its own flavor of isolation: being surrounded by the limelight yet no one will truly understand you.
And let's not forget about his ambitions to become an Emanator of the Erudition, to become a member of the Genius Society, which he fell short of...
Tumblr media
...something that he holds quite close to his chest, a betrayal of his self-perceived character. He became yet, once again, an outcast.
Another thing, I want you guys to got to Ratio's wiki real quick and see how many characters mention him.
How many people do you think were close to Ratio?
Within the team selection menu of Star Rail, Ratio has lines for when he's added to a team with Ruan Mei and Herta, yet the reverse isn't true. Both Genius scholars say nothing when added to a team with Ratio already in it, almost as if they don't acknowledge him.
There is, however, only one character who says something when added to a team with the Mundanite already in it.
Can you guess who it is?
Tumblr media
But, as for all classes, their lives aren't meant to be miserable forever. A Rogue must find a way to overcome this loneliness; piecing through the walls of their confines made of their aspect. Instead of just keeping all their aspect for themselves like their Thief counterpart, Rogues find fulfillment through sharing their aspect, often by taking it from one source and distributing it to others. Or in some cases, exchanging something else in order to hand out.
And after all this, I dare say that Ratio joining the Genius Society would be the worst mistake he'd ever make. Stay with me, I have my reasons:
Though we never got to see much of Nepeta in action, we know that she distributes Heart through her shipping chart, arranging couples, distributing aspects of their personalities to see who would go together the best.
Tumblr media
The amount of thought that she puts into her ships puts a Sylph of the same aspect like me to shame!
I digress.
In exchange of bringing attention to the Watterbitch that's about to destroy their game, Roxy was able to obscure the progression of her session from prying eyes, covering it in a blanket of blankness in order to keep Batterwitch from knowing what they're up to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then for Rufioh, his Alternian counterpart The Summoner lead a rebellion against the Condecse, using his wings to guide his fellow trolls towards freedom.
Tumblr media
And even after his defeat, his tale lives on as Pupa Pan. While the tale of his rebellious predecessor the Signless is silenced and therefore lost to obscurity, the Summoner's story lives on, allowing the idea of freedom to flow into the mind of young trolls.
Tumblr media
Dr. Ratio's entire character is dedicated to making education accessible for all. Though some of this does end up into his desire to cure people of idiocy, Ratio does truly believe that everyone should get a chance to attain knowledge. I'd even say that his ambition is the reason why he became a professor!
Tumblr media
Ratio would dedicate his life towards his goal towards sharing knowledge, even if it meant forsaking Nous' attention in exchange.
His path also affirms this drive. One would expect that someone as knowledgeable as him would be following the path of Erudition, but instead Ratio follows the Hunt.
Tumblr media
Ratio's determination to educate, his determination to spread light across the universe manifested into the path he follows. Even if he's never accepted by the Genius Society, he won't let that hinder him or dampen his drive. Ratio just simply strides forward.
The people who make up Nous' faction are described as researchers that rarely interact with each other, and even rarer are the people who are willing to share their research. Ratio would have never found fulfillment in being a member of the Genius Society, I'm almost certain that by joining it he would just be seeking out more and more knowledge, more and more light, becoming more and more isolated.
And one more thing: Rogues are fond of those who manage to get close to them. They appreciate their company and are incredibly dear to them.
For Nepeta, she has Equius.
For Roxy, she has Calliope.
Rufioh had Damara and the Summoner had the Marquise.
So who does Ratio have?
Tumblr media
Even outside of a shipping lens, Aventurine is a very important person to Ratio. The 2.1 Penacony story quest demonstrated how much in tandem these two can be together; how much they trusted each other to pull off this huge gamble and draw attention to the death happening in the Planet of Dreams and Festivites. Luck and Knowledge, they both work in perfect harmony.
Aventurine calls him his equal during his episode in “Keeping Up with Star Rail”, claiming that Ratio’s the only one who can understand him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ratio and Aventurine must have something closer than just mutual respect however. Before Aventurine goes off into his grandiose self-annihilation, he checks up on him. He risks breaking their façade of disgruntled-coworkers-at-best just to make sure Aventurine can continue on.
Tumblr media
Ratio does care for the Stoneheart. So much so that he imparts luck to quite literally the luckiest man alive in hopes that his advice will carry him out of the darkness that he’s in and back into the light. Bringing him out of the blinding Nihility and back into the World of Ideas, back into reality.
And it makes this note all the more important when Aventurine accepts Ratio’s advice, accepting his light when most would brush it off.
Tumblr media
Ratio is a bright person, yet most cannot see past his luminosity and at the same time, he can’t shine bright enough to attract those he aspires to be. To remedy this, the Rogue of Light distributes his lights to others who needs it. He wants to cure those inflicted with ignorance and guide them towards enlightenment.
Knowledge for knowledge’s sake is not his Ratio rolls. His altruism may go against what the Genius Society believes in, but he wouldn’t change his ideals for anyone, steadfast in his determination to cure idiocy.

OK SORRY FOR SO MANY OOC POSTS ive got the spirit inside of me to rp my idiots but the server im in both of them are literally out of commission. but i think ive come up with a solution which is always m,y solution to problems like this and its fantrolls based off the fictional characters and its so funny bc my solution is ALWAYS to make them a gold blood (richie tozier troll core. i lvoe that guy if i had richie muse id be posting on him now) but ive got some ideas im gonna put under the read more
due to denji and levi having such similar back stories and general similar theming i think itd be really fun to, if i was to make themm trolls, make them some sort of twin duo or something, or two trolls in helms training that have some sort of psionic connection to eachother. i was tihnking about having them be hatched from the same egg but were seperated due to unforscene situations, but reunited sometime before they started their blog. id be writing them either on a single blog or two side blogs that are connected to a different blog (maybe this one) with the both of them either running from helms training or arre actively IN helms training (though im thinking of having them be running from int) and auugh.............. yeah

Here's my analysis of n25's classpects, I also made art of them, and changed the godtier designs a bit to fit them better, made it a bit more personalized.
Kanade - Sylph of Time
Tumblr media
Sylph is a class that heals with their aspect, or creates the aspect in others.
One of the symbols of the aspect of time is music.
So you probably know where I'm going with this, Kanade wishes to save as much people with her music as possible, no matter the cost, even if it takes a toll on her physical and mental health. She spends as much time as possible on composing, to get more time she consumes energy drinks and eats instant noodles.
Sylphs have natural understanding of their aspect - Kanade is a composing prodigy, at the age of 10 she was making better music than her father, and in area conversations it's revealed that she's a living timer, she knows exactly when the light will turn green because she counts the seconds and never misses.
When she promised Mafuyu to keep composing for her, it made Mafuyu keep trying to look for her true self. So in classpect terms, she literally created more time for her. Her music also brings comfort to thousands of n25 listeners, keeps them going. Kanade is a patient person too, she has no problem in giving Ena more time to work on her art if it means it'll be better, in this case she's the most understanding in n25.
Mafuyu - Maid of Void
Tumblr media
Maid is a class that is burdened by their aspect, and is also 'made' of it. It's often interpreted as a class that creates their aspect for themselves.
The aspect of Void symbolises emptiness, nothingness, the unknown, shadows, secrets, lack of meaning, but also infinite potential and hidden talents. It's an aspect of people lost in the dark.
So the Maid of Void creates nothingness, is made of nothingness, and is burdened by nothingness, which sounds weird but actually fits Mafuyu very much. She literally created empty SEKAI from her true feelings - how cold and empty she feels. She also keeps n25 and her true feelings a secret from her mother. And regarding the burden of nothingness - she is tired of not knowing who she is, she is tired of coldness and emptiness she feels in her chest.
But I don't think Mafuyu hates what void represents, she likes the calm and quiet of empty SEKAI, she cares about her empty aquarium, she does find some comfort in nothingness, it's just the fact that there's too much of it.
But it's not all sad and gloom, Void is hidden potential and talents, which Mafuyu has tons of, to the point it makes Ena jealous.
Ena - Prince of Space
Tumblr media
Prince is someone who works hard and relies on outside validation. Basically Ena.
Space is associated with arts and crafts, it's about creating material stuff you can touch.
I don't have a coherent analysis here, just trust me bro. I really can't explain my thought process here as well as I want, so I'm just leaving you the short classpect description, check out the sources if you wanna know more about the classpect.
Mizuki - Knight of Heart
Tumblr media
Knights are people who put up a front to hide their weaknessses and insecurities. They're also the guardian of their aspect.
Heart is an aspect of identity, Heart players live rich inner lives and are invested in self-discovery, they tend to be dramatic and often struggle with being misunderstood.
Mizuki does everything they can to hide their problems under their bubbly personality, they don't want to be too bothersome to others. When Ena is worried about them, Mizuki feels like they're a bad person. They've been hurt in the past, and struggle with anyone getting too close, essentially, guarding their Heart.
It may be hard to notice at first, but Mizuki is one of the most emotionally intelligent characters in the cast. They did self-discovery, they do self-retrospection, and in turn they understand other people better. They're quick to pick up when something is wrong, or when someone feels down - they see the little things. Mizuki was the first character to notice mafumom's weird behavior too.
Sources:
@classpect-navelgazing - My main source, I recommend checking them out because their theory is different than the classic view of the classpect and is pretty interesting. Very well made too! I think their aspects descriptions are better than the canon ones lmao.
@dahniwitchoflight - I used some of the elements of their theory too - most notably the bits about Maid and Sylph class. Good to check them out if you're interested!
The extended zodiac quiz - It has a lot of problems and I don't consider most of it canon, but the moons description and time's description are fine imo.
These sources are condtradictadory, yes, and while reading them you might notice that I didn't stick to some of the descriptions that much, but doing this little analysis I kept in mind that in the end the classpects are more about the vibe than anything else (but also not really, you see, it's complicated)

Classes of Light - AO Classpecting
Chosen Keywords: Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning
TEZ Keywords: Knowledge-seekers, students, problem-solvers, precision, scholars, researchers, resourceful, driven, (fussy, pedantic, insensitive)
CANON: Those bound to the aspect of Light are the universe's knowledge-seekers. They are, above all, driven to learn and understand. They are great alchemists, able to take multiple sources of information and synthesize them into something useful. They are scholars and researchers, absolutely dedicated to knowledge for knowledge's sake. They are the ultimate students, and although that might conjure up the image of people sitting around peacefully waiting for knowledge to be brought to them, that couldn't be further from the truth. The Light-bound will go after knowledge with a fierce intensity that others may find distasteful. They aren't overly concerned with laws or norms, either. They often take rules as simple suggestions, instead searching for loopholes or work-arounds. At their best, the Light-bound are resourceful and driven. At their worst they can be fussy, pedantic, and insensitive.
All of the analysis written below is my own writing, analysis, and thoughts as based on the sources I consulted. The statements are my own analysis, but they may function as a "fill in the blank" statement for you to create your own interpretation of the classpect as you please by replacing the aspect word with any of the provided keywords above.

Knowers/Changers
Mage (Active): Know - Too Much Experience with Light
A Mage of Light is almost constantly experiencing knowledge and evaluation from the people around them and their surroundings, which gives them a unique understanding of how insight and the meaning of something can help a situation... or hurt a situation.
A Mage of Light is flooded with Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning), uniquely experiencing both the good and the bad of it. As a result, they gain a unique understanding of what Light is and does, often resenting it or becoming jaded and frustrated with it, but never rejecting it. Their challenge is to become open to new insight or different perspectives than their own.
Heir of Void (Inverse): As the Mage of Light knows Light in a flood of both good and bad, they end up embodying Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have an indirect relationship with Void; because they know and experience Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning), they fully embody and thus must change Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Mage of Light does not undergo the Heir of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Heir class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
~
Seer (Passive): Know - Too Little Experience with Light
A Seer of Light is surrounded by secrecy and many potential unknowns, and lacks knowledge and insight in their life, and as a result are driven to learn everything they can about meaningful evaluation in order to understand what they previously lacked.
A Seer of Light studies Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning), craving knowledge of it from their previous lack of it. They seek knowledge of Light with a fierce intensity in order to gain more understanding of it, acknowledging the potential consequences of doing so and dealing with them later. Their challenge is to learn how to translate their insight and knowledge into action and decision, as well as learn how to manage their engagement with Light so as to not overwhelm themself or others.
Witch of Void (Inverse): As the Seer of Light attempts to gain experience with Light from their previous lack of it, they end up changing Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have a direct relationship with Void; because they change and thus half embody Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities), they gain experience with and thus know Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Seer of Light does not undergo the Witch of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Witch class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
~
Witch (Active): Change - Too Little Embodiment of Light
A) A Witch of Light embodies knowledge and the insight it gives them, in order to change their own and others evaluation of what something means.
B) A Witch of Light embodies the evaluation of what something means, in order to change their own and others knowledge and the insight it gives them.
Witches are self-assured and conclusive individualists. They pick and choose which parts and pieces of Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning) fit into their own already determined desires, making Light embody themself and changing it to suit their own wants and needs. Their challenge is to achieve a stable balance in themself without losing themself to Light or their own changing whims.
Seer of Void (Inverse): As the Witch of Light changes the pieces of Light within themself, they end up experiencing Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have an indirect relationship with Void; because they change and half embody Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning), they gain experience with and thus know Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Witch of Light does not undergo the Seer of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Seer class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
~
Heir (Passive): Change - Too Much Embodiment of Light
An Heir of Light embodies the ability of evaluation, meaning they are knowledgable; however, only by changing themself can they change the insight they gain and the meaning of it.
An Heir of Light inherits and embodies Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning), allowing Light to change themself or itself. They have huge amounts of Light related strengths, allowing themself to be surrounded by Light or naturally gravitating towards it. Their challenge is to not get stuck on Light, to know when to move on and change themself to keep themself balanced.
Mage of Void (Inverse): As the Heir of Light embodies Light within themself, they end up knowing Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have a direct relationship with Void; because they fully embody and thus must change Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning), they know and experience Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Heir of Light does not undergo the Mage of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Mage class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
-
Utilizers/Allocators
Knight (Active): Utilize - Too Much Skill with Light
A Knight of Light would be very skilled in using the knowledge they possess and the insight it gives them, to protect and defend the evaluation of others and the meaning given to them.
A Knight of Light is extremely adept with their Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning), their driving effort to protect it and others through it. They are loyal to Light's cause and naturally gifted with it, using it as a tool to achieve whatever they set themself to. Their challenge is to learn how to be less harsh on themself, to accept and learn from failure, and to accept the assistance of others when they need it.
Rogue of Void (Inverse): As the Knight of Light utilizes Light from their loyalty to it, they end up valuing Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have an indirect relationship with Void; because they utilize and are skilled with Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning), they value and thus give/allocate Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Knight of Light does not undergo the Rogue of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Rogue class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
~
Page (Passive): Utilize - Too Little Skill with Light
A Page of Light is a beginner when it comes to learning and evaluating the knowledge they gain, but they repeatedly strive to master it using the insight they've acquired and the meaning they've ascribed to it.
A Page of Light starts unskilled in Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning), learning how it works and how to use it to its full potential over time. In their many attempts to master Light, they teach others the value of Light, becoming an unintentional source of inspiration. Their challenge is to keep at it, learn from failure, and eventually master Light, being able to confidently provide Light to others.
Thief of Void (Inverse): As the Page of Light attempts to gain skill with Light from their previous lack of it, they end up allocating Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have a direct relationship with Void; because they take/allocate and thus do not value Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities), they gain skill with and thus utilize Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Page of Light does not undergo the Thief of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Thief class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
~
Thief (Active): Allocate - Too Little Value towards Light
A Thief of Light lacks knowledge and evaluation in their life, resulting in a fierce desire to possess such things for themself and leading to them not understanding the value of the insights they gain and what that means, as they take knowledge and the evaluations of others from others and hoard it all to themself for their own benefit.
A Thief of Light takes Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning), either craving it fiercely from their lack of it in their lives or simply because they like it, stealing and hoarding it all for themself and their own personal benefit. Despite their outward confidence with Light, they often take it at face-value without learning of its true value, being unsatisfied with how much Light they hoard and craving more and more. Their challenge is to focus less on attaining and more on learning about the value their aspect, as well as to let others have their aspect and learning why it is important to others.
Page of Void (Inverse): As the Thief of Light allocates pieces of Light to themself, they end up gaining skill with Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have an indirect relationship with Void; because they take/allocate and do not value Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning), they gain skill with and thus utilize Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Thief of Light does not undergo the Page of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Page class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
~
Rogue (Passive): Allocate - Too Much Value towards Light
A Rogue of Light would redistribute, allow others to take, and/or give knowledge and insight to others in the name of balancing the meanings born of evaluation.
A Rogue of Light gives Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning) away, either because they have a lot of it already, or are able to get it so easily they don't know what to do with so much of it. They often know the true value of Light, and are able to see where there is too much or too little of Light and redistribute it in a balanced way around themself. Their challenge is to not let Light run dry within themself, and to learn how to healthily balance Light in themself.
Knight of Void (Inverse): As the Rogue of Light values Light within themself, they end up utilizing Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have a direct relationship with Void; because they value and thus give/allocate Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning), they utilize and are skilled with Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Rogue of Light does not undergo the Knight of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Knight class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
-
Enhancers/Destroyers
Sylph (Active): Enhance - Too Much Reliance on Light
A Sylph of Light is a pure source of insight and the meaning behind it, and driven by knowledge and evaluation, attempt to restore/purify the meaning behind others insights.
A Sylph of Light starts off relying on themself for Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning), attempting to heal, restore, and enhance Light in others. They are a pure source of Light for others, and though this can cause frustration and irritation in themself and others, they can see ways for Light to help and heal the struggling of others. Their challenge is to learn how to listen to the needs of others instead of assuming they know best, and to balance themself by learning that it's okay to rely on others for Light sometimes.
Bard of Void (Inverse): As the Sylph of Light enhances Light from their love of it, they end up fearing control of Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have an indirect relationship with Void; because they enhance and rely on Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning), they fear control of and thus destroy Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Sylph of Light does not undergo the Bard of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Bard class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
~
Maid (Passive) - Too Little Reliance on Light
A Maid of Light relies on anyone or anything but themself to tell them knowledge and information as well as what it means, before learning how to rely on themself, restoring and purifying their knowledge and what it means for themself through precise evaluation and insight.
A Maid of Light starts off pushed around by others' view of Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning), but eventually allow Light to heal, restore, and enhance themself, making them into an entirely new person and purifying their aspect to themself. They start out relying on others for Light or being told by others how to interact with Light. Their challenge is to listen to themself instead of others, and to not let others opinions dilute their aspect as they restore it for themself and allow it to make them into a new person.
Prince of Void (Inverse): As the Maid of Light attempts to gain reliance on Light from their previous lack of it, they end up destroying Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have a direct relationship with Void; because they destroy and thus cannot control Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities), they gain reliance on and thus enhance Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Maid of Light does not undergo the Prince of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Prince class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
~
Prince (Active): Destroy - Too Little Control of Light
A Prince of Light is surrounded by knowledge and the evaluative demeanor they crave, but they can't control it or have no means of reaching it, so they lash out because of their own insight and meaning, to destroy the evaluated knowledge that others have, in the name of their own insight and meaning.
A Prince of Light destroys Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning) with Light or in the name of Light, and as a result, often end up appearing as Void (Secrecy, Unknown, Potential, Possibilities) at first glance. Princes start off with disdain or hate for Light, likely because of its overwhelming presence in their lives, and because despite its abundance, they can never seem to grasp or control it for themself. Their challenge is to be able to recognize Light's presence in themself before they destroy themself beyond repair, and learn that they do not need to control or bend Light to their will.
Maid of Void (Inverse): As the Prince of Light destroys pieces of Light in themself and others, they end up gaining reliance on Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have an indirect relationship with Void; because they destroy and cannot control Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning), they gain reliance on and thus enhance Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Prince of Light does not undergo the Maid of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Maid class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.
~
Bard (Passive): Destroy - Too Much Control of Light
A Bard of Light is surrounded by a lot of evaluated knowledge, but fears being controlled by it or fears the control such things have over them, and as such ignores the evaluated knowledge and allows it to deteriorate via keeping it unknown and letting it wonder into possibilities; only by embracing meaningful insight can they begin to destroy the secrecy that destroyed them.
A Bard of Light allows Light (Knowledge, Evaluation, Insight, Meaning) to be destroyed via simply not reaching out for it, and ignoring its presence in their lives, leading to them appearing as Void (Secrecy, Unknown, Potential, Possibilities) at first glance. This is typically due to a fear of being controlled by Light; while they may see benefits to what it could offer them, they can also see all the downsides to it simply because of their fear of what could go wrong. Their challenge is to be able to embrace Light and not be ruled by its whims, learning to control the way it impacts themself without letting it be destroyed.
Sylph of Void (Inverse): As the Bard of Light fears control of Light within themself and others, they end up enhancing Void, whether on purpose or accidental. They have a direct relationship with Void; because they fear control of and destroy Light (that which is knowledge, evaluation, insight, and meaning), they enhance and rely on Void (that which is secrecy, unknown, potential, and possibilities). Because the inverse classpect is a ghost of the true classpect, the Bard of Light does not undergo the Sylph of Void's challenge; their relationship with the Sylph class and the Void aspect is purely surface level.

what do you think karas godtier would be? (other brothers too? but mostly kara)
Funny you should ask that! I actually was and AM working on fancy godtier art for them all, and that's STILL in the works, BUUUTTTT...
i did draw some very rough color references for myself for said fancy pics! i really took a long time mulling over their personalities with my buddy who plays dirk, they're like. insanely awesome at assigning godtiers and -- honestly, i feel a lot of previously assigned GTs for these guys tend to be a bit like. surface level? rather than looking super super deeply at ALL their traits and WHY they are the way they are. Hearts in the right place, but i just don't feel like enough of them tend to be considered when pondering this kinda stuff personally. And I get it, these guys ARE crazy complex!! but. there's a TON to be taken into account.
example, i often see something like void assigned to karamatsu, and while some parts of it DO fit him, it really just isn't his personality ... karamatsu my karamatsu i have many thoughts on but it's unique how he always holds out such hope and has such faith things CAN get better even if not for himself, so i always thought he'd be WAY more of a hope player anyways. plus all his knight imagery, yknow...
but that's only a little bit of the reasoning! i have more for all the others. I'll just give a quick run down and show the pic i had made.
page of blood osomatsu
knight of hope karamatsu
sylph of void choromatsu
bard of rage ichimatsu
witch of space jyushimatsu ( though frankly any witch could probably work for him )
thief of mind todomatsu
Tumblr media
I can totally elaborate more on these, but you'll either need to send another ask OR wait til i drop the full fancy godtier designs i have for them that will include the analysis of them all!!!

*get another four characters out of my pocket like really long awaited return bronze coin, random hair, red button, parts of my dignity and shame*
*puts it on ur desk*
i have more
witch of blood (derse+prospit)
prince of rage (prospit)
thief of doom (derse)
lord of heart (prospit)
shortly they are alpha version of others, they are tighter and godtier in the same list, from top to bottom where top first.
godtier analysis and session analysis (maybe? please? i hope i dont worry you too much or overwhelm you. i apologize for doing both of those things and if your uncomfortable just tell me)
-cloud
yes!!! okay, so
a witch of blood manipulated obligations and relationships. they would be a VERY interesting team leader. could be quite manipulative.... when i think of witch of blood, i kind of think of makima from chainsaw man.
Prince of Rage is VERY interesting to think about. I'd say they lean heavily towards toxic positivity, since they destroy rage and chaos while ghosting hope.
Thief of Doom is going to a matyr. They're gonna be aaaaall doom and gloom. Tries to shoulder on all the team difficulties. You think YOUR problem is bad? Well theirs is worse!!
Lord of Heart is going to be CRAZY. They ARE emotion. They ARE impulses. They have nothing that holds rhem back. Definitely might be a problem child of the group.

You might’ve already got this before, and I’m asking this in genuinely good faith.
Your essay was very interesting, and convinced me of Erikar as a ship reading. I also really enjoyed your dissection of Eridan as a very honest person drawn into destructive behavior. It very much lines up with his status as a Prince of Hope! One who destroys conviction/belief through conviction/belief.
What confused me was your insistence on the hidden hand of the author. Death of the Author and all that, what’s implied in the text can be taken on its own separate from commentary but you seem to be doing an autopsy— the text implies [this] so *Hussie* must have intended for [this] and then tried to cover it up. If they genuinely thought it was a better ending, why not do it? Why the secrecy, why the feints? I think it’s a little conspiracy-brained to insist on a secret “better ending” that we don’t have author’s word or drafts on.
I’m also a little drifted on your frustration with the deaths of the trolls? You write that the theme of Homestuck— a standard coming-of-age story, a reckoning with society and the exit from youth— is undercut by the deaths of the trolls, because that means they *had* to die, in *punishment*. I disagree. Their deaths are tragic, not just.
Homestuck has a lot of methods of revival, the choice to (for the most part) perma-kill some characters (the trolls for one, and then AR, WQ, and WK) is a deliberate choice to make death mean something. If dying doesn’t mean anything, what are the narrative stakes? Murderstuck marks Gamzee as a threat, Eridan as a tragedy. The deaths there are meant. To be sad. To demonstrate that sometimes kids don’t get to grow up, that sometimes the society they live in cuts them down.
Homestuck is a sad story at times! It doesn’t need an ending where everyone gets to live to keep its coming-of-age conclusion.
I hope this made sense. I’m not trying to attack you, I’m just skeptical of some of your points. I hope you go on to do more analysis in the future!
If you want to believe that, go ahead 👍 again, arguing my points on that front would require its own entire essay, lol, so I'm not really planning to do that as the answer to an ask. The only thing I really want to say here is that while Homestuck is often sad, as you say, its underlying tone is unwaveringly hopeful right up until Game Over/the Retcon, and even kind of beyond that. If you prefer a sad story, then you can have a sad story, but it's just not a reading consistent (to me) with the entire rest of what Homestuck is.
For example, the whole narrative grapples with the debate of predestination vs. free will. Do things happen in Homestuck because they have to, or because characters are making choices? But with the introduction of John's retcon powers, it lands firmly in the "free will" side of the debate: the retcon powers outright defy the power of stable time loops - a reflection of how Breath is associated with freedom and choice. This is the optimistic option.
Another thing the narrative grapples with is the realness vs. fakeness of magic. I don't think it's hard to argue that between LE's "evil wizard" status and Godtier!Calliope's wand-induced black hole that the arrow falls firmly in the realm of magic being undeniably real. This is the optimistic option (and yet another narrative element that Eridan is extremely relevant to).
Moreover, even post-Retcon, there are elements that are kept that soften the tragedy already present in the story - for example, the concept of the Ultimate Self, and the implication that all surviving characters will eventually achieve it, takes the edge off all their doomed and dead counterparts, who won't actually be relegated to double death in the dream bubbles, since in a way, they'll live on through their alpha counterparts. It turns those sacrifices from bitter to bittersweet, and serves as a counterpoint to common takes like John being sad that he doesn't know the version of his friends that exist post-Retcon. The inclusion of it in the post-Retcon story, even with its botched delivery, says to me that Homestuck is still intended to be optimistic at its core, even with the extreme Giving Up that Hussie did.
And let's not forget how Calliope gets to come back to life, no strings attached, and that her stated purpose is only to live. Up to the end, the tone is that of HOPE, and I think there's no mistake that HOPE is supposed to be what defeats LE.
As I said in replies on that post, as an artist, I just can't imagine spending literal years, and literally a million words and thousands of images, writing something that's so thematically and tonally consistent, only to hard swerve right at the end, without extenuating circumstances.
And the thing is, there WERE extenuating circumstances, and they're fairly well-documented.
The kickstarter got funded, and while the story is muddled, we know the production of the game was extremely troubled, and Hussie was having difficulty being a project lead for that while also grappling with everything else. Everything else being, of course, an ever-increasing number of irons in the fire - more third-party artists he had to commission and manage, more merchandise he had to be on top of, bigger updates to sate the demands of the fanbase.
Which, speaking of, was infamously one of the most awful and toxic fanbases to ever exist, and one that Hussie has deliberately attempted to distance himself from since. I can't imagine the kind of daily abuse, harassment, callouts, and worse that Hussie had to endure as Homestuck's creator during the fandom's peak years. I don't blame him at all for turning against them.
Therefore, given the way the tone and themes hard swerve, the way several characters get bent entirely out of shape (you're telling me Karkat had several means before him of bringing his dead friends back and WOULDN'T SAY ANYTHING???), the way several plot threads are simply left dangling in the air, and the way some characters reach really weird and unpleasant conclusions (davepeta, gcatavrosprite), I think it's actually LESS reasonable to assume that the ending we got was the original plan. Hussie saw that to do the ending he wanted to do back in act 4, he'd need to write for a year, maybe two years more, and then looked at his mounting stress and pressure, and looked at the fanbase he'd come to hate, and just went "nope." And I can't even really blame him for it, lol. In his position I'd probably do the same.
Also, please don't mistake "the deaths are undone" for "the deaths will not have mattered" - I think there's a reason that the game over timeline characters still exist post-Retcon. Their arcs don't end with their deaths, and their failures are weights on them that must be narratively resolved - I believe that they go on to be the ones to defeat LE, although I have much less evidence to support this. It just makes narrative sense to me - the post-retcon team focuses down the Felt, various Jack Noirs, and the Condesce - the latter of which is their final boss, as the ultimate representation of the shitty society they're doing away with on their path to creating a new one.
Meanwhile, the dead and "irrelevant" versions of the characters, the ones who grappled with and were harmed the most by what LE represents - immaturity, selfishness, and cruelty - go on to band together after death, and defeat him in the bubbles, a culmination of their vengeance for the havoc he wreaked. And with him being destroyed in the bubbles by the dead and irrelevant, symbolically, he will be rendered nothing more than a bad dream for the waking, relevant, and alive.
Thus Gamzee is still an antagonist, although it becomes (Gamzee) and (Equius) who go on to form LE. Those deaths and those failures still matter, they still happen, they still have narrative weight. Even without the Game Over versions of the characters still existing and still being important, the decision to welcome antagonists like Gamzee and Eridan back into the fold is rendered more complex and more significant BECAUSE we've seen how badly they can go.
The speech originally given by post-Retcon Vriska to (Vriska) is also, to me, a weird artifact of this hypothetical original ending - as it exists within the actual comic, it's said by the wrong person to the wrong person - Vriska with her character development reset to a (Vriska) who's had her characterization destroyed in order to make the first Vriska seem more right. I think originally, it would've come from (Karkat) to Meenah, the latter of which being the one whose idea it was to fuck off with the treasure, and who caused the Beforus team's worst problems, and who has a track record of fucking off whenever she's tasked with taking responsibility. Thus, it would serve as a conclusion to Meenah and Karkat's arc, as well as Game Over Sadkat's arc specifically, would convince Vriska to go with him, and would give Meenah some narrative commeuppance, which would kickstart some sort of Beforan troll feelings jam that would rally them together to actually be useful for once in their lives/afterlives and contribute to the LE fight.
Again, if you PREFER the sad ending, I can't stop you, but the reason I'm going in on there being an "original ending" that isn't sad is because the sad ending doesn't make narrative sense. Why is the ultimate self speech coming from a combination of two characters that barely spoke? Why is it triumphant that Meenah and character-development-reset Vriska get to be the big goods in the fight with LE? Why do multiple prophecies suddenly get dropped right at the end when all other prophecies DO come true? Why does Karkat spend so long being sad his friends are dead, and also why is he deliberately set up as the Friends Troll (blood = bonds), and then suddenly not care that multiple methods exist for bringing back his friends? Why bother softening the blow of all the dead/irrelevant alternate selves if they're intended to be fully tragic? Why introduce a mechanic that would let them save whoever they want consequence-free and then not use it to do that? Why does Roxy love wizards so much and then not get to meet the wizard boy? Why is the entire rest of Homestuck so carefully crafted, so narratively satisfying, so thematically and tonally consistent, and then all of it goes to shit right at the end?
So yeah lol this is the SHORT version lol this isnt even the LONG version of this essay

I saw you mentioned kujou sara on your hope player post, would you mind elaborating on your reasoning behind her being a hope player? Im not judging i promise I’m just a curious Sara fan lol
Of course! I'm more than happy to elaborate~
Kujou Sara: The Heir of Hope
Heir:
One who is influenced by their aspect
Alternatively, one who inherits their aspect or one who becomes their aspect
Hope:
Abstract: Conviction, Imagination, Fantasy, Delusion, Actual Hope
Literal: Light, Wings, Feathers, Religion
Tumblr media
Hope is the aspect of ideals and conviction; driven by what they think is right and deliver justice to what they consider is wrong:
Tumblr media
Kujou Sara is no different. The Lady Tengu has earned the title 'Devotee of the Divine' for her loyalty to her Archon Ei. She is known by many people of this characteristic of hers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She had even abandoned her ties with her fellow youkai in order to serve the mortals of the shougun's land, as said by Dainslief
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's a comment Kokomi makes on her faithfulness to the Shogun, commending how she can uphold it no matter what her god demands of their people, and perfectly summarizes her classpect:
Tumblr media
The context of this opinion comes during the middle of a civil war between the rebels lead by Kokomi and the Shogun's forces led by Kujou Sara. The battle has arisen from a decree in which all citizens of Inazuma must give up their visions, either voluntarily or by force.
Most, if not all, were discontent with the Vision Hunt Decree and opposed it, unlike the Tengu General who in fact upheld it. She believed that the manifestation of her ambitions was not hers, but Ei's and would gladly return it to her if asked of her.
Tumblr media
Sara held the belief that the Shogun had the right to withdraw everyone of their visions, including hers, and so she became the head of the Vision Hunt Decree.
So how can a woman who isn't a mortal come to adore the Shogun so much?
Tumblr media
According to Sara's vision story, the Tengu fell from a height that should've killed her. Yet the next morning, she was found relatively unscathed. The only thing that could explain the anomaly was the glowing vision in her hand.
There is a common misconception that the Archons are the ones who hand out visions, and that prenotion is the foundation of Sara's beliefs.
She believed to be favored by the Electro Archon herself and was rewarded a vision and thus saving her life. And for saving her life, Kujou Sara devotes it to the Shogun.
Which segways nicely into her class: The Heir
Heirs, like Witches, are a part of the Magician class, but instead of influencing their aspect as they like, Heirs are influenced by it.
They're natural born leaders, often being the driving force of their teams that propel them towards their goals.
Egbert is one such Heir. The first character you meet in the webcomic and the leader of his friends' SBURB session. This Breath-bound was able to direct the rest of the Beta kids on what to do during the early part of the game. He was also the first to ascend to godtier, a massive step in SBURB's progression.
The most important instance though, happens after the events of Game Over. John, under Terezi's instruction, is sent to F1X the timeline with his retocon powers so it doesn't lead to the utter oblivion of everyone and their session.
In other words, Egbert can influence the direction of the timeline.
Tumblr media
However, when an Heir's aspect comes to them naturally, they mustn't let it consume them.
Heir of Doom Mituna Captor once was a powerful psiioniic that had the ability to foretell disasters, which could've been used to guide his SGRUB team away from trouble. Despite its usefulness though, no one would belive him, causing things to take a turn for the worst for the goldblood:
Tumblr media
With no one taking into consideration his warnings, Mituna was left to himself before his mind is consumed by his visions: Burning himself out to protect his teammates from an unknown threat, becoming doomed. That final act of heroism rendered him powerless and brain-damaged.
Then there's Heir of Void Equius Zahaak. He had very little in terms of screen time. Void is the aspect of isolation and the b100 b100d and usually kept to himself in the start of Hivebent. He has strength that surpasses most of the beta trolls to the point where he can bruise anyone with the gentlest of touches from him, making him unable to even touch another troll.
Though he was able to overcome the loneliness with his moirail Nepeta, Equius wasn't able to save himself from succumbing to irrelevance and obscurity; Being killed by Gamzee and his identity being overwritten by AR, effectively erasing Equius from the story
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To tie this all in with Kujou Sara... yes, she is described as a charismatic and natural-born leader as well as often being what inspires her troops to keep on fighting, a symbol of hope. Just as an Archon's power is proportional to their people's belief in them, Sara's belief in hers empowers her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sara's sense of right and wrong matches those of the Shogun, inheriting her morals and making them her own. It feels almost as if she embodies her will.
She is willing to fight and take down those who don't obey the Shogun, even going as far to wage war with Watatsumi Island. But Sara would do anything for her god if it meant that she was doing the right thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like before, it's admirable that her loyalty knows no bounds, but she's is so consumed in the shogun that it harms the people that she is supposed to protect. Gorou, a general on the other side of the war, and Kazuha both comment on this characteristic of hers. Her devotion to the Electro Archon is the driving factor as to why she went along with the Vision Hunt Decree despite it being unpopular to Inazuma's citizens. Rather than listenting to the Shogun to demonstrate her allegiance to Inazuma, she should've listened to its people as the Vision Hunt Decree has caused some to loose their drive to live.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only is this loyalty detrimental to others, but also to herself as for most her life she put the shogun before her own personal desires:
Tumblr media
After the Hunt, however, Sara starts to break out of the mindset she has and starts to think for herself. Her first act of her individuality is to apologize to those she has hurt during its reign.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Heir of Hope, Kujou Sara has already shown to be a great commander for her army, so much so that I would consider her to be Inazuma's leader if it weren't for Ei's puppet.
An Heir of Hope is powered by belief. If this lady Tengu were to place more of her devotion into the people she swore to protect, then perhaps she could ascend from being a major figure head of the Kujou clan to one that would reflect Inazuma’s image.

rubbin my hands together like a little fly rn love character stuff and analysis stuff I’m a prince of rage let me explain while I was reading homstuck in that time of my life I was stuck in a situation where I couldn’t really get away with being mad about how I was being treated and I internalized that a lot and ended up being pretty like forcefully numb sort of like toxic positivity but more numbness then positivity and I’d shy away from anything or anyone to aggressive I’d definitely slip up and lash out so id like associate that time in my life with Homestuck cause that’s one of the things that got my through that time and as I read I worked through a lot I let myself express negative emotion like outwardly without blaming myself for it and I learned like a little ego is good that’s just self esteem and when I express stuff I lash out and blow up less and talking makes me feel better now I’m pretty damn good at deesclation learned how to control my environment better and I’m safer cause of it not totally out of the woods yet but definitely doing better much smarter about braving it out so I feel like there’s definitely the sense of princes almost destroying themselves by trying to remove my aspect rage from myself by controlling how I reacted cause I had to and then blowing up but then I learned how to express my emotions while still deescalting so I could stay safe even in rough spots and also communicate without getting aggressive cause my issue was I was good at talking and smart and I picked up on stuff but I’d get stop defensive when I talked it was aggressive and offputting so no one listened when I called stuff out(mainly old old shitty teachers shitty parents when I was still in school) but I got it now I can manage my tone while still being honest and call stuff out also I reported all those guys so it’s all good now so now it’s gone from suppressing things to blowing up to learning how to rebel and report in a smart way when and how to talk and put up a fight and how to manage my emotions and have support systems so thing don’t go sideways I’m in therapy and dude the other day my buddy said I was always the dude back in highschool who was like legit moral like I knew what was up when adults and people were being dicks I actually got praise for it it felt nice cause I always felt like a mess lashing out and I was but at least I sort of had the right idea just needed to flesh it out lol anyway dude I like the godtier polls and the analyzes and stuff this blog is cool take care also I like the outfit for the most part but the poofy asshole prince pants dont fit the vibe for me and I hate the fact I’d be stuck in tights NOT wearing those dude uncomfortable af I would not be able to I don’t like the feeling of tights bro

witch of blood here ✌️ (i suppose anyway... not to be pedantic but i have a hard time w the idea of classpects for real people bc i view it as a character arc analysis and real ppl dont have character arcs. but i digress i did pick this for a reason) ive toyed with several different aspects throughout the years but blood is the one resonating w me atm, i feel as though i have a strong understanding of like. how people connect to and interact with one another, and in my friend group right now i am definitely the one who brought them all together and keeps us all in touch, like i literally host the hangouts every week lmao. i deliberated w a few different classes but ultimately went w witch because i feel like my relationship with my aspect is very hands on and generally speaking within my control, but also something i had to put a lot of definite effort into learning. im lowkey autistic so interacting w people doesnt come naturally to me, but its something i spent a lot of time learning how to do better, so i feel as though i have a unique approach to it but ultimately can control things in a way that feels v witchy to me. if that makes any sense lmao. also im realizing this could imply that im manipulating my friends or smth and thats not what i mean LOL i just mean that i used to feel that it was completely out of my control how my friendships and relationships went and they often spiralled badly to places i didnt like but now i have a better understanding of ppl and friends in general and can use that knowledge to maintain good strong friendships. i love my friends ❤️🩸
hahah i dont think it reads as manipulation, & anyways manipulating is a neutral act. ur technically manipulating ppl just by talking to em, yk? anyways, this was a cool read. i also deliberated a lot before picking witch 4 myself. witches kick ass.
anonymous:
maid 9f doom here. im not really good at classpecting, I'm not even sure this is what truly suits me but I like to view classpects as my personal journey and it's hard to imagine what maid of doom really means to create with doom, when doom itself is destruction. my journey as a person was always to listen and do what I was told and I was miserable and I still struggle to find my own right in this miserable wrong world. ive been tossed from person to place and told to do everything right and i have this overbearing need to do what is right. But more often than not when I find myself struggling to break free from it all that's exactly what I need to do. break it all, all my personal connections, my stability, my life, when I am at my lowest I burn down all that was once good that I now see was holding me back and truly start anew in my own way. sometimes you need to light a fire before you can start to see new life. this is all probably terribly cringe and oversharing in a way, and I'm not even sure if it makes any sense? oh well.
i think this makes a lot of sense B] u got a cool worldview there & i defo agree w it. thank u for sharing it, it's rly cool to see how ppl who choose doom view their life hahah.

reporting from the light poll! i'm a seer of light, and while we can find plenty of canon content for such a character, here's my opinion on it: 'light' as a class imho is about fortune, luck, knowledge, and relevance. i could point to about a million things in canon about that, but to simplify, these are all things that rose, vriska, and aranea, our canon light players, center themselves around in varying proportions. i also think that light players tend to have an association with pathways or courses of action, and have a good idea of their own path, whatever it may be. rose has a plan, vriska has plans to spare, aranea has plans. i choose light because, one, every quiz ever made tends to give me light, and two, i feel that set of characteristics fits me well. i have a plan, but it's not set in stone - i'm constantly looking for things that might divert its course. for seers, on the other hand, we have rose, terezi, and kankri, and a solid amount of information on all of them. seers are mostly regarded as a passive class, which i find interesting, because rose and terezi play extremely active roles in canon, and kankri as well to an extent. my thoughts on this are that while seers actively pursue knowledge of their aspect, the way they utilize the knowledge is passive - passing it onto their sessionmates to do with as they will, more often than not. a seer rarely directly intervenes, and instead seeks understanding of their aspect and tries to foster something of that understanding in those around them. i chose seer for myself because i have a very 'everyone else's choices are their own, but i want to have all the information i can' attitude towards life. i'll tell anyone things that i see and may be relevant to them, but it's on them to make their own choices after that. i'm obsessive in my pursuit of everything that i crave knowledge of, from hobbies to my profession to the world around me. alright, that's enough of a wall of text. yes i've been called a rose kinnie, and that's fine, i too am a goth lesbian, so how could i complain? thanks for running these polls, they're incredibly interesting! have a wonderful (whatever time it is for you) :)
this is a rly well thought-out one. it always bugged me that seers r relegated to being so passive when the sufferer, terezi, & rose were doing all their sick shit. i think i saw someone say, somewheres, that seers are "punished by the narrative" for trying to be active? as in they cosmically shouldn't have been? hah... seers rule
thanx for the kind words btw, glad other ppl r getting mileage out of this. take care hope ur well B]
@ausgoth:
i get to have 2 classpects because im built different. prince of light and knight of void sit around in my head and beat each other up all day. probably to be expected by someone with 2 classpects, i used to super heavily identify with the heart aspect. i went through a bunch of different classes while the comic was updating when i was vibing with heart. i still enjoy and identify with the heart aspect to an extent but having 2 distinct classpects is much more accurate for me personally.
hell yeah dual classpectorz. i luv it. dual classpectors have my sword. i also i guess dual classpect, but i never rlly understood the heart aspect @ all until rlly recently. wonder how many others relate to u or myself here. for me anyways, i just see space & breath as very interrelated concepts & the way they overlap is rlly specifically relevant in my life, yk? fun stuff :J
thank u guys for all the cool replies, hope others had fun reading em like i did & take care

honk :o)
hi how're you doing
can i pls get a classpect analysis for an heir of rage (it's me i'm the heir of rage)
(derse) heir of rage analysis coming fresh from the oven!
so to start off simple; heirs generally embody their aspect, passively altering it. rage is the aspect of anger and unpredictability. naturally, a heir of rage would embody anger and unpredictability, altering it and influencing the rage of others around them.
our example of a heir in canon: june egbert. june is the heir of breath, and embodies freedom--- powerwise, she is able to physically transform herself into wind as well as manipulate it to move the way she wants. in terms of her personality, she tends to go along with the flow, just doing what she's told to do by others. her power of retcon plays into this too, allowing her to free herself from the narrative and arguably free her companions from the doomed timeline of game over by resetting it.
our example of a rage player in canon: gamzee makara. gamzee in canon is unpredictable, being kept pacified by his sopor slime until he runs out, at which point he kills two of his teammates in a fit of anger. throughout the whole game, he does unexpected things--- spriting his dead friends, getting to earth c early and raising caliborn (somehow).
derse dreamers generally gravitate towards rebellion; they reject the expectations set on them by the game and by the people around them, and usually end up taking an unconventional path to beating the game/their land quest/godtiering.
rose is the most particular example of this. instead of following her land's quest, she ignores it and focuses on finding information in her own way. this leads to her seeking answers from the horrorterrors, who reside outside of derse, and ends with her going grimdark. in the end, she abandons her planet and its quest entirely, instead trying to destroy the green sun; it's ironically through this that she ends up godtiering.
with all these in mind, your heir of rage would either embody unpredictability and/or anger depending on which part of the aspect they're more bound to. they might be exceedingly random or convince others to do things for arbitrary reasons. they could also have a short temper, and might be good at making people angry (i.e manipulating their rage) either purposefully or on accident.
they would be extremely averse to the game and its "plan" for them, which would pair well with their anger. they might be a contrarian, disagree with people just for the sake of disagreeing. despite this, they wouldn't necessarily be all around bad to hang out with--- they could be a go-getter, or inspire others to take action when something is frustrating them. they would make good rebels against unjust systems.
(and as always reminder that that a player's personality is also dependent on factors other than their classpect, and making your classpect a big part of your identity sometimes ends up hurting the player (vriska) as much as it can be freeing for them (aradia)!! thank you for the ask hope this was useful ^-^)

ok so this is technically an elaboration on an earlier post i made like a week ago but
ive been chewing on "what is kirito's classpect" for a while now and only recently came to a conclusion
so derse and void were obvious
but class?
superficial analysis would say knight or prince, but once you actually start to know the character better it starts becoming clear that doesn't add up, that's the beater facade pretending to be a knight or a prince, it's not the actual character
so then my first thought was "heir maybe?"
but that also doesn't quite add up with the story progression and itd give her the same classpect as equius which doesn't feel right
and then i finally got to the unital ring arc and it all clicked into place
it's the isolation
the 2 centuries of "star king", the early isolation in aincrad, the fact she keeps trying very hard to be "fine", doesn't say it when things bother her so it digs in deep to the point it's just *normal*. and she can become as overpowered as the context allows and it won't matter. because the system's always bigger and she can't change what actually matters most
*witch*
kirito is a witch of void
which has the added bonus of you know
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^the godtier outfit
which is fun to think about in sburb AUs!
dual-wielding swords in a swooshy dress fuck yeah!

i still think karkat calling gamzee a faker ( wrt his godtier ) while bringing attention to his codpiece ( which he canonically packs with money ) is the closest i will ever come to honest to god genuine transmasc gamzee ' analysis ' ( quotes because its bad )
