My latest essay is on Jess Levine's "Going Rogue!" I wanted to celebrate the drop of Andor Season 2 with a Star Wars game, and Going Rogue intersects with Andor's themes of radicalization and struggling to stay hopeful in the face of seemingly invincible oppression.

I asked Jess a ton of questions about her thoughts on the game, from Jyn Ero's character arc, to the place of cynicism in resistance movements, to the centrality of martyrdom in her text. About 1% of her answers actually made it into the script, but she's clearly put a lot of thought and actual action into the philosophy of this game. Cannot recommend her work enough- see I Have the High Ground as well.

Also, this video beat my ass. I probably spent 12 hours in front of a video editor to get this thing done, to say nothing of the writing of the script. Eventually mecha fractalization will get so advanced that they'll be able to precipitate sentient beings out of their metachemical supplies wholesale. Once we cross that threshold it's only a matter of time before a mech goes MIA with an empty cockpit and starts moving around on its own. Independent minds, and most probably not near human.

That's what we're risking with this proposal - a fully autonomous mecha system capable of self-replication with no allegiance to our people or our species. An epidemic of rogue operators on whom we'll have no knowledge and no control.

No mech will ever be equipped with unqualified self-repair technology under my watch, and any commander or technician who authorizes such a monstrosity in the future will be a traitor to their entire race.

I am unwilling to compromise. Do not contact me on this matter again.

Desmond as one of the creatures from 'A Quiet Place', absolutely wrecking the Templar's no matter what time period. And he looks like a piece if Eden, because Isu BS. (White with gold circuit like markings.)

There’s no way he can be mistaken as human with this form…

So Desmond would be known more on the side of merciless destruction.

Perhaps he’d even be considered a ‘curse’ placed upon the Templars, being able to hunt them down wherever or whenever they appear.

It all started with the death of Robert de Sablé.

No.

The massacre.

There bodies had been too mangled and all they could do was count the heads.

… after they found the heads.

After that, they only heard of the aftermaths.

It sounded like the massacre was random, high ranking and rich people of various backgrounds.

There were rumors that the Assassins have captured and tamed a wild beast.

But then…

Al Mualim died and, according to the rumors, the scene was just as gruesome as the other random massacres with only one other victim.

An Assassin by the name of Abbas Sofian.

A new mentor takes his place.

And… the killing stop.

Or so they thought.

It was only that the Templars hid better that news of the monster that kills those who worship God died down.

But the monster continues to hunt.

Again and again.

No matter where the Templars hid or how they pretend to be others.

The monster finds them.

And hunts them down.

Not even a cardinal…

… could escape the monster of the Brotherhood.

And it would be a while before the Templars realize...

Their only chance of survival is by making noises so loud, it will pierce the monster's heightened sense of sound.

((I want to make a blog for a character I made ages ago on City of Heroes/Villains. An ex-Arachnos Bane Spider soldier that had horrible experiments done on him, and now seeks out constant revenge on Arachnos with his equally deadly friends, Diego and Oougel. CoH/V or CoX is an ancient MMO that I play and was resurrected recently. It's also the first MMO I've ever played, so it's got a special place in my heart. It's a superhero/supervillain MMO with a pretty good character creator. This particular character that I wanna bring out uses the default armor for Arachnos soldiers called Bane Spiders because it was grafted to his body. Said armor keeps him alive and stuff. I wish I could display the stickers on his chest plate shown here in this pic my friend drew... damn in-game restrictions.

I could go on and on about this guy. I absolutely love this fellow. He means well, but most heroes would probably not want to have anything to do with him or his friends. They aren't exactly the stable type and are very heavy handed in their punishments toward villains. Art is by my friend, Flashtoo!))

Listening to the going rogue podcast has made me more aware of just what it is that various behind the scenes people are doing in the making of a movie, and frankly it just makes me more astonished than ever that anyone does manage to create any actually good and cohesive movies. By their nature, movies are the work of many hands, and they all have to be working together on the same creative vision, and that is so hard…especially when it all has to be done within constraints of things like budget and top-down studio decision-making and everyone's schedules. And yet brilliantly good movies DO exist! Amazing!
