What are the odds on the final episode just being an extended epilogue? Because 1) there's no Eri/Aerial-tier pilot/mobile suit combination for Suletta to fight (there's the Pharact, but Elan Prime is canonically a terrible pilot) and 2) I have a hard time seeing Suletta, who has had the lowest kill count of any Gundam protagonist so far, just start wiping out scores of SAL soldiers at the last minute.

I dunno, I agree with you that Suletta probably wouldn't kill anyone again, but that laser feels very 'must-be-destroyed-before-the-end' to me. Plus, with Eri potentially gone-gone for now (although I'm still holding out hope for one last scene with her and Suletta), something's bound to happen with Prospera, and it's really up in the air as to whether that will be good for her or not. She's not done yet.

I imagine a little more than half of the episode will be dedicated to tying up these loose ends, with the last third or more playing the part of an epilogue. And with Miorine's recent insistence on her and Prospera becoming family... wedding scene, anyone?

Do you think Haruhi and Kyon would confess their feelings for each other on their own initiative, or would they need outside interference?

okay so this depends super heavily on the setting and the context. i think that, left to their own devices, they will continue dancing around one another until college, or at least late in their senior year. however, the universe rarely leaves them to their own devices, and just looking at the text i see a number of hints that we're building to a shift in their relationship (random numbers; kyon considering transparency with haruhi in surprise and their standing throughout that book + the time travel shenanigans; his feelings growing more and more blatant via the last scene of seven wonders)

but like. there are infinite possibilities, and i think what (if anything) drives them to address it is a super important factor.

The fundamental problem with this idea is that it assumes that children are just small adults. They are not. We do not let 14 year olds drive a car or enlist in the military, and we do not allow them to vote.

it’s an old post, but this argument has some big holes in it that cry out to be addressed.

First off, I don’t assume children are just small adults! That’s one reason why I think they should be permitted to vote (or why I’m at least willing to entertain the idea). Children have distinct class interests by virtue of being children, and being mostly at the mercy of adults, so they should get distinct input into political processes so they can advocate for their interests. No, I don’t think 14 year olds should drive. Many can’t even safely reach the pedals! Although many jurisdictions allow 14 year olds to get a learner’s permit or a harship license, so clearly many people disagree with our position on that one. And no, I don’t think 14 year olds should be allowed to enlist in the military. I don’t think anyone should be allowed to enlist in the military! I think we should abolish the military. But even if I didn’t think that, I think one of the things children have a right to is a family life and an education, and an expectation that they could or should embark on a major life-altering career like joining the military might interfere with that. Also, at least in the US, the military frequently lies to and manipulates people to get them to join, in ways that younger people are particularly vulnerable to, so if nothing else we should raise the enlistment age to 25 to give time for a little jaded world-weariness to set in so people can more effectively see through recruiters’ bullshit.

(But if we gave 14 year olds the vote and 14 year olds voted en masse to lower the enlistment age to 14, I would certainly pay attention!)

But, more broadly, there are lots of competencies that vest at different times in the course of maturity; we recognize that the line between “helpless child, who should have no public competencies” and “fully autonomous adult” is a blurry one. At 6, you cannot be left home alone. At 10, you cannot have a job. At 12 you can’t drive, at 14 you can’t consent to sexual activity, at 16 you can’t vote or join the military, at 20 you can’t drink, and even at 24 you can’t rent a car. You can’t be a Senator at 28. You can’t be President at 34. Does that mean all rights of majority should be delayed until 35, when that final and most rarely-used capacity finally vests in U.S. citizens?

Of course not. Different legal capacities vest in us at different times, and the ages we put into law reflect a rough consensus on the average maturity of individuals at that age, their ability to exercise those capacities responsibly, and the interest of society as a whole. Arguing to lower the voting age, even by 4 years, isn’t an argument that children are functionally indistinguishable from adults; it’s an argument to alter one of those capacities, by a rather modest amount, because important individual and social considerations speak to it. It’s an argument that to be a child is not necessarily to be apolitical, or incapable of making choices about certain things, or to mean that one is not worthy of being consulted when certain important matters arise. If I were going to make a decision that would force a 14 year old in my care to move house, or change schools, or adopt a different diet, or upend their life in some other way, I would seek their input and their opinion. Voting seems to me at least as consequential as all of these things. Certainly it’s more likely than any of them to permanently affect such a child’s future. Should we not seek their opinion on this, then, too?

My thoughts:

Loud, messy & crude + composed, meticulous & refined is an amazing combination. The hilarity potential alone makes it worth it. Just... basically look at the kiiruma comics that minmo/luckcycler made (and I believe @shslstraws has done one too?).

The idea of Kirumi occasionally playing along with Miu’s wilder side without breaking her normal poise for a moment.

Miu with Kaede or Kiibo would be my top two choices! As for Kirumi, Kaede is also on that list lol - but also Rantaro. Generally, most of the more ‘mature’ side of the cast.

My happily ever after for them:

Miu gets to live out her days as her wacky inventor self while Kirumi makes sure she actually gets enough sleep to function. Also, considering Miu usually ends up making lots of inventions for whoever her object of affection currently is, I’m hoping for some non-lewd items to help Kirumi with her work.

None that I can remember, though a few of them appeared to be rather concerned for me.  The atmosphere of La Carneval has a way of bringing out its patrons’ friendlier side, it seems.

A shame I was only working there undercover.  If fate should force me to retire as a detective, perhaps I will see about finding a position there again.

Sadly, the Leicester Alliance had the most blind spots on the war maps.  The entire eastern portion was a big blank spot, and the exact borders of Albrecht, Muller, and Nilsson are complete conjecture on my part.  

There are a few things of note, however.  The one that sticks in my mind the most is the line of territories on the western border, Daphnel, Siward, Albany, and Burgundy.  I’m not sure what it means, but it must mean something.

14. Is there a character or ship you were so sure you would never write/draw but now you've changed your mind?

honestly, yeah! not so much ships, i don't care that much about romantic relationships outside of harukyon specifically (and also a few other Very Specific Scenarios i have mostly discussed before), but characters. for haruhi specifically: writing from anyone's perspective other than haruhi and kyon is really challenging for me, but it's also a fun exercise! see those little challenge prompts i did for a bit (i want to pick those up again with a less strict schedule, i think; i have like another month or two total of prompts lined up)

or even the beginning of deus in absentia: that wasn't originally going to be from asakura's perspective (actually, literally everything that's been posted so far wasn't technically part of the initial concept, it was all background stuff; i'm still trying to get to the point where i can include my initial ideas and notes. admittedly the fact that i haven't finished anything for it in over a year isn't helping.), but as i was setting it up in my mind i realized that i needed to understand the details of her motivation, and that writing it out was the best way to do that

(that au is complex enough that i also have other character-centric stories planned for... a vague at-some-point)

but yeah, the prompts thing is probably the best example; i realized i basically only write about haruhi and kyon, and while i like my niche, i also want to ensure that i do at least understand and explore the other characters from time to time, so i rolled a prompt generator and assigned characters/pairs to them

i've tossed around the idea of doing something about emiri kimidori recently, but there would have to be so much speculation that i genuinely don't know if i could make it recognizable

NOTES: Two days before the show closed on Broadway. Good amount of closeups and good quality filmed from the mid-mezzanine; there is a railing issue for a while in Act 1 but the taper improves. 'Me', 'Gaston' and 'Be Our Guest' are all predominantly missing and recording stopped for some time after 'Gaston', which created a little jump in the timeline to where Maurice gets thrown out of the tavern. Still a nice video with great closeups of the last Broadway cast.
