Controversial opinion time, but I like the 1979 'Gonchiyrov' furry anime series. Yes, it was very sanitized and barely resembled the original, but the episodes I had on VHS as a kid I memorized word for word.

Too bad it seems the only trace of it left are few cels on japaneese auction sites. If I was wiser 15 years ago I'd never get rid of that tape...

BUT. @ fanfic writers taking a shot at goncharov: are your fics based in the canon or fanon timeline? I think this is an important distinction we as goncharov fans should address

Is now a good time to mention that, with Goncharov and Shigeru Mizuki's The Miraculous Notebook coming out in the same year (1973), and given Ohba and Obata's penchant for Western films, there's a massive, definitely non-zero chance that Goncharov had a significant influence on Death Note?

okay i know we’re always talking about the symbolism of how the theme of time is often expressed with clocks, and i get why, it’s made very blatant, but can we discuss the themes/conflicts expressed through every time they smoke? that scene with katya and sofia where they’re walking through the market and katya’s trying to get the most she can out of her cigarette even though there’s barely any of it left. when andrey and goncharov light each other’s cigarette’s in a way katya & goncharov never do. when goncharov’s looking for a box of matches and ends up finding katya’s gun. i’m not quite smart enough to put it all together but there’s definitely something there
