Hi sorry I am honestly stoned rn but gotta question and figured I’d ask now before I forget. What’s ur opinion on my chemical romance (specifically the concept album Three Cheers for Sweet revenge (the story of a man and a woman who are separated by death in a gunfight and he goes to hell only to realize by the devil telling him that she's still alive. The devil says he can be with her again if he brings the devil the souls of a thousand evil men and the man agrees to do it, and so the devil hands him a gun. And the man goes out collecting all of the souls before realizing he’s the thousandth evil sword and he had been tricked.)) but yea- what do u think of the songs?
Take it easy there champ…
-Bill

Album: A beginner's guide to faking your death
Artist: Jhariah
Released: 2021
Genre: Pop Punk
Review: I’m usually not a fan of musical-esque albums, but this might just change my mind. Well-produced and with fantastic, rich instrumentals uplifting the crystal clear vocals, this album knows exactly which elements of theatre it can use to elevate its sound and when to break away into tropes from electronic and even breakcore (I hear those drums). Some songs are even foreshadowed by others earlier in the set, repeating motifs from other tracks in new contexts. It’s hard for me to describe, but this album really perfects the “musical-esque” album concept, and is well worth a listen.

finally managed to make it all the way through listening to my icimi vinyl for the first time yesterday so here’s some highlights of how that went.
-it took me 3 days to listen to the whole album. there were parts i just had to replay and then other parts that i couldn’t stand to hear at that moment so i just did something else or went to sleep instead.
-that was another thing. music was so good it was putting me to sleep lol. (i am talking about side b!!!) (also didn’t help that i was already tired from work and whatever else)
-becoming the lastnames made me cry TWICE. i hate that song bc it makes me feel things :/ bc it really is an incredible song for a lot of reasons. first time was just in general. second time was when he hits that high note at That One Part
-bc i cried at lastnames i couldn’t cry at euthanasia. i always cry at that song, so that was actually nice to Not for once.
-pretty much for the rest of the time i listened to that side i wanted to cry but legit couldn’t bc lastnames had me Wrecked lol
-a day goes by and i Finally put the Other vinyl on the thing! half decade and vampire reference were just as good as usual. however,, i forgot that you liked this is the track After that. so hdh and vampire put me half to sleep and i just hear WELCOME TO YOUR PLATFORM. it was a whole jump scare and i have never ripped my headphones off faster. because of That i couldn’t bring myself to listen to it. fast forward to main character. much better.
-third and final day: against the kitchen floor made me cry right off the bat :) sex, drugs, rock n roll had me on the Floor (literally. this whole album is just blow after blow) AND THEN THE TRANSITION TO BFB MADE MY WHOLE DAY!! i forgot it was there but omfg i love that silly little song.. 47 seconds of whatever that is between all the heavy stuff was so nice i legit had to listen to it again before i could listen to willard! it was like the opposite of the you liked this transition lol
-white noise hit so hard at the end. i love that song but.. yknow Usually i don’t get silence after i listen to it and that was just. …hm. (in the best way)

The Doors - L.A Woman
100
When it comes to the endless discussion of what may or may not be, the objective "best albums" of an artist's discography. I usually spend my time prolongedly at the sidelines. I very much like to make arguments on more subjective terms. L.A. Woman is not my favorite Doors album. That would probably be Morrison Hotel. However, every now and then. I feel unexpectedly strongly about an album, for no consistent reason, I can't think any differently about how much better one album is than another. L.A. Woman is one of those albums.
The doors we hear on this album are virtually indistinguishable from their 1967 counterparts. At that point, it wasn't as much about the music. The band and, in particular, lead singer jim morrsion are the most human they have ever been on record. But with that, humanity comes hand in hand with a great deal of distress. Jim morrsion sounds just that, distressed. So much so you can hear it in almost every single word. Guitarist robbie Krieger and keyboardist ray manzarek's musical mutualism is the most tight on this album. As opposed to their undeniably brilliant but messy debut in 1967. They are able to give each other time to breathe. The blues rock styling of the songs serves as a perfect vessel for some of the best solos of the band's career. Even morrsion poetry, which could be overbearing at times on previous albums, is kept firmly on the ground. And almost never does it take you out of the experience.
Even in a discography full to bursting with brilliant musical ideas and concepts. The Doors managed to deliver an album that, even contemporarily, is the perfect swan song for morrsion. Himself a deeply flawed man on the brink of an untimely end. It is also by pure coincidence, a masterpiece in its own uniqueness...

The always terrifying experience of starting to get obsessed with a band and doing a quick search on Tumblr to find out if one of the members has killed someone or something else before discovering it through an anon telling me to kill myself because i listen to problematic people

Released: 2006

Review: I have never believed in the idea that suffering is intrinsic to good art— but even I will concede that sometimes the best art comes from the worst places (like New Jersey). Jokes aside, after engaging with MCR mostly through Gerard Way fancontent that belongs in a museum and 18 layers of memes, actually reconnecting with the album made me remember how damn good it is. It’s harder for me to talk about albums like this that just have really good vibes… but let’s be honest you all know how good MCR is. Go listen to them again they still slap just as hard as they used to and we both know this.
