Because I saw a post about this again: I find the common fandom belief that Laura is a particularly chaotic player baffling. She is a great player! She is an exceptional actor! She is also easily one of the most cautious players in popular actual play. The cupcake move was great as a narrative/character choice, but it relied entirely on an existing item and spell, and the stakes, while high, were unlikely to be lethal and certainly not game-breaking. I would ALSO push back on the idea of calling players "chaotic" when you actually mean "makes bold choices" or "made the GM laugh;" Emily Axford is a genuinely bold player and also has a profound respect for GMs and the stories they are telling.

Summary: Whatever had happened must have been recent - the child, who they had discovered crying all alone outside the house, was scared and probably hungry, but otherwise unhurt. Kay's comments: Accidental child acquisition at its finest! Really enjoyed this short story, very cute and I love how in-sync Wangxian are with their intentions. The poor child in question has had a rough few days behind him, but Wangxian will take good care of him. Excerpt: It took the rest of the afternoon to walk to the small village Lan Zhan had spotted while they were traveling. Lan Zhan carried the child the whole way, despite Wei Ying’s attempts to take a turn. Every time the little boy even thought Lan Zhan might be letting go of him, he began to cry in loud, heartbreaking sobs. Neither of them could bear to put him through that. Wei Ying was thankful for the famous Lan arm strength; so impressive that he could carry the little boy for so long without tiring, and the memory of Lan Zhan striding down the road with a baby in his arms would stay with him forever. Was that something Lan Zhan wanted? Wei Ying had idly considered the idea of raising children with Lan Zhan every so often - maybe more than that, actually - but he wasn’t sure how Lan Zhan felt. Lan Zhan had raised A-Yuan, as much as he could within the Lan clan’s strict way of doing things. Maybe he didn’t feel the need to do it again. And there was the problem of actually acquiring a child; despite what he had told A-Yuan all those years ago, he knew they didn’t actually grow like radishes. Of course, they had a child right now, a child who had unfortunately gone through a tragedy. Not that they could just keep him. Could they? And they would probably discover relatives in the village. Wei Ying shouldn’t get attached.

Tango is actually part of the so called monsters - he is an Ovinnik!

Ovinniks are spirits from slavic folklore that inhabited barns and although usually protected the grain from fire, they could also be the one setting it aflame if provoked. They were depicted either as a small old man that could turn into a barking cat or just as the cat. Basically.

Tango in the AU has two forms - a more human and a cat one, between which he can shapeshift at will and that's how he was able to fly under the hunter's radar so far.

He doesn't really have a permanent home but at the moment he is staying around Bdubs and Keralis (although later on he is found by Jimmy and they have a barn together <3)

Marin is just the town's cat. She can be found lounging about in the sun and knocking stuff off of roofs (it's not her fault if you put stuff that high up). She arrived in the town on her second life and then just. Opted to never leave. She gives a lot of people nicknames (such as Ren is Renke to everyone else and he will throw a punch if anyone else tries calling him Ren)... and despite her willingness to help people, she is very respectful of secrets. If she sees things she shouldn't "know" then that's fine, she won't tell anyone. So everyone in town lets her do whatever and wherever she wants.

I live about 10 minutes away from the Countryside Proper, and 10 minutes away from a decent sized town, and 30 mins away from the city, so it's just perfect for me! I'd love to be closer to the sea, but you can't have everything and I'm very glad to live somewhere with so many trees and lovely open green spaces...
