the worst part about finding more and more about totk that i dont like is that ... it seems like one of my biggest fears is going to become true; all of my previous hyperfixations died because a new thing of the franchise came out and i didnt like it, turned that strange, perhaps unhealthy, love and attachment into disappointment and sadness and im afraid thats happening to zelda right now, the one hyperfixation i hoped could last or at the very least i would just grow slowly away from in a good way if it was just totk that i didnt like, tho its hard to see all the love people have for it and just ... feel the opposite about it, it would be fine (heck i really disliked links awakening but ultimately i just regret spending so much money on it, it didnt impact my feelings about the rest of the franchise) but because it diminishes everything about botw too .. a game that i still love deeply, its not fine aside from me not liking anything they did with the zonau, it basically steamrolled botw too, damn near ignoring it ever happened, cramming in zonau stuff where it wasnt before just so its literally everywhere, taking its mysterious and answerign them in boring ways, implying that stuff i loved so much about botw was yet just another zonau thing (the three dragons possibly having been zonau ..........the ancient hero mystery being .. that.......) people basically claiming as fact that its somehow slammed into the old timeline despite it making no sense nor has any evidence aside from some names that happened to be used once before or them saying whats the point of ever looking at botw again bc totk does everything "better" ...

you cant ignore it really, even if i try to ignore what i dont like, i know whats revealed in totk, and others know it too.

and in turn it all makes me go back to that strange self hatred i thought i had finally left behind, the why do i care so much, its stupid to care so much about a piece of media i have no control about anyway, whats the point of caring so much, you have wasted so much time and effort and thought and tears about something like this, why are you so weird, why cant you just be like everyone else and love it all, why are you like this, stop being like this.

knowing i cant stop being like this, fearing from the start it might happen just like it has so many times, that i fall in love with a piece of media so much that when it gets a new thing that i dont like but affects every aspect of it it all flips into anger first, then disappointment and sadness and in end into wishing i wasnt weird like this, knowing i cant change it ... and it turning out true

Tangentially related to some of the discussion i posted earlier but quiet literally the first RW Art Month i participated I did it completely on whim like, one day before it started. And I mostly did it because I hadn't drawn a ton of rain world and wanted to draw more. Fandom presence was a lot smaller than and I was one of a handful of artists who did the entire thing. Fast forward and I still do Art Month and I've gotten to work with VC directly. But it was quite literally something I decided to do completely on whim that set the ball rolling, and for something a lil more niche and certainly with a lot more dev/fandom art involvement than most. It's really random how and why you might get noticed more than usual, especially with the "toss it into the search and hope it pays out' mechanism of Socmed

things wld be easier if i was just an oc-centric artist (which i kinda am but only to myself in my head) but it Is how it is at this point (i want to draw my ocs more but they never turn out the way i want) and theres just so much i want to draw for the silly little media franchises that happen to capture my stupid little heart and etc.

its obviously not discounting the people who really enjoy my art style adn what i draw regardless (which im soooo so grateful for bc i never like expect anyone to stick around sicne my fixations change like the wind) but its like... these r the people i spend the most time with . and it sucks. i have to. second guess what i say and what i type and just. ok like i know its not that serious either but i hate it i really dont like it (<- im also just socially anxious if u cant tell)

and its also like i cant just extract myself from my friend group for a while to kinda cool off (read: muster the courage to be an idiot in front of them again) bc ummmmm um i dont have many friends . they are kind of all i got. (which is nice i like small circles(?) im not good at opening up to people.) and i do admire and like them very much but then i just feel like i get bit in the ass all the time (This past month) with shit like this i guess

and honestly like. well half the reason i keep switching fixations is BECAUSE of stuff like this where i feel self conscious of """"Being obsessed"""" over One thing so much so i just immediately switch tracks so fast but its just a cycle (Which i dont see as a bad thing tbh? it keeps my art moving and things fresh so like.)

And honestly i dont really try to . be too vocal about. fandom? stuff? when im with my friends? unless they bring it up first? i got burnt so many times with my vtuber interests so like lol ive Learned. but maybe it slips out too much? bruh. my bad i guess

in the end i really REALLY appreciate frm the very very bottom of my heart everyone that even remotely likes/appreciates my art (especially the persona stuff nowadays bc thats what im mainly pouring all my mental and physical and emotional into) like i really really mean it. because this stuff like my silly comics and stuff is really stuff i make for purely my own heart and just what i want to see kinda. and so it just makes me feel really warm that people also want to see it and keep seeing it and love it and everything like that. and, with all this kind of negative stuff going on i just go back and reread tags and comments and stuff and i feel encouraged to keep going and draw more and everything like that. so like really, truly, thank you. i really never thought so many people would like the stuff i make. even if its not really artistically good, or really deeply interesting, im really happy it could be something special to people out there

July 2015 - I drew me! (im 15 here) I drew this on my mom's ipad. I was having trouble finding my style around this time and i just tried my best lol

April 2017 - (im 17 here) yeahhhh its my voltron era :') ngl i had a good time in the beginning when the fandom was pretty small. i drew every day around this time and it lead to a looooot of improvement which was epic.

June 2017 - i drew this for nerdecrafter and it was a huge moment bc she saw it and loved it! i never really drew irl people so this was super fun and made me wanna keep trying new things :D

June 2017 - trying new things!! i started becoming very ambitious and i was sooo so proud of this painting. i did it in photoshop with brushes i found on deviantart.

August 2017 - i drew this right after a livestream or youtube interview of the va of pidge from voltron saying this teehee she saw it and loved it!!!!!! added more confidence in myself :D

August 2017 - i painted this at school! the new doctor trailer just came out and i was so excited :D i worked on it in my animation class after i got my work done bc we had some new epic computers in there with photoshop and maya yahooo. i think this was my first big painting?? i remember spending a few days on this.

September 2017 - i saw a lot of other artists posting their pencil sketches so i made this one specifically for posting and seeing if the algorithm was indeed leaning toward this. i was correct and this one did very well LOL babys first media and marketing analysis

October 2017 - learning about what makes a small internet comic good! I put this on redbubble and my animation teacher bought it :D she wore it in class and it was very cool (she said she feels this way all the time as a teacher lmao)

December 2017 - learned about side profiles! i tried really hard on this one and tbh i think it was pretty good for that stage in my art

March 2018 - my big hero 6 x voltron au GAHHHH still one of my most viewed videos on my youtube channel. My moms favorite video on my channel too. tbh the process for recreating the background was so tedious so i have mixed feelings about this one lol but man it was huge at the time

June 2018 - wowie non-vld art ! this is tracer from ow in the skin that had just released at the time. i liked playing with the lighting effects a lot :D

hmm i mean for a relatively big fandom it still feels very chill, which is nice. ive been in some very very bad fandoms and i think hermitcraft is one of the most enjoyable ones ive been in! but my favorite thing i think is still THE ART!!!! in every form. theres so much art and so many artists and all of it is so good!! i think seeing all the cool fanart was what made me check out hc in the first place, so yeah. big fan of art

You Remember that au I made right? it's the one were Mikey and Leo were raised by Shredder to be foot soldiers with Karai being manipulated by the Shredder, believing they have no one but themselves as family, and meeting Donnie and Raph, who are pals with Casey and April already helping them take down the foot solider to face off against Shredder. They cross paths with each other, which shapes how the story continues. Mikey starts to question Shredder, believing that the other side is who he should be with because he starts finding the way the foot handles things to be suspicious, so he goes on his own solo fights throughout this iteration, fighting Raph and Donnie every now and then, with Leo popping in to see assist and see if everything is okay. He also starts questioning his loyalty, but never brings it up since he believes in his father, Shredder, and sister Karai are innocent, so he and Mikey get into a fight, and Mikey chooses Raph and Donnie, which upsets Leo, who throughout the rest fights with Karai to try and get Mikey back on the shredder side. well I was wondering if you had any good advice on how I should start off with it I have been thinking about starting on Raph Donnie side so that I could set up Mikey and Léo later on but I don't know where to start with it do you have nay good suggestions for me? also I should I make Karai a trio with Mikey and Leo in the beginning or should I try incorporating her later on when things get more serious? sorry for the long ask btw.

I think the best way to start is to create the character designs, if you're not an artist just write it out, but what helps me to create new stories is to get the ground work down first

For my own au, I started this out MONTHS ago, like way before summer. I used to write fanfiction all the time (I'm talking about updating daily) but I fell out of that fandom and wanted to focus on art, so I would always start with the basis

What I have for my current au is: designs, world building, personalities, history (for major every party involved), relationships with others, side characters, enemies, and archs

Now the relationships with others was a bit unnecessary on my end but I still added it and it helped sort out some notes (like how Splinter and Shredder feel about each other since they grew up as brothers)

And the archs is where the real stories begin, theyre sorta arranged like chapters but some are like a day or two long in the time like, and others are months and even years (the first part that I need to start drawing out soon), theyre more like the most important parts of the story, hold on

Im gonna rename some of the archs cause the best chapter titles are the most comedic

But anyway Im starting from the beginning, a prologue sorta. Theres many routes you can take, but I think the origins are the best

However it would be cool to start with one side and have it be revealed. Maybe you could have Raph and Donnie run into Mikey and/or Leo and confront Splinter about it, then have Splinter tell them the true story of their mutation, I feel like that would be an interesting start

Lmao, yeah I kind of feel you there. I mean, personally? The fandoms perception of it being a r*pe allogory is the fandoms perception. Its not reality. And thats the thing. There was no actual s*xual assault and NO "s*xual intent" behind any of it, particularly in universe. Possession is possession. You can't depict it without, in some way, "violating" another persons body and mind. But not all violation is s*xual in nature, even if all violation can lead to like, similar feelings-- and imagery particularly when shown in an 'artistic' way.

Like I guess, as someone who has been assaulted like that, its almost offensive to me to compare an example of "spirit possession" in a piece of horror media, specifically when the source didn't seem to have the full conscious intention of their work being an allogory to SA, to actually talk about it as if it was real SA and that we need to seriously condemn the "possessor" as if they are a real literal r*pist. That's mind boggling to me. Like I'm just VERY sure that the Duffers did not intend it to be a r*pe allogory. The whole demonic possesion thing just an aesthetic they went with because its cool and creepy. Because at the end of the day no r*pe actually happened. There was no actual SA. And Its gross to pretend there literally was, to me, personally. And I feel like a lot of the fandom is particularly obsessed with the idea of it being literal SA is because it gives them good ol' fashioned whump fuel, especially for content regarding the ship between Mike and Will. Like it literally all directly orbits and connects to the Byler ship and the headcanon of Henry's sexuality and this horrifically ignorant misread of Henry's psychology and his idea of what a predator is. Like its crazy that he literally explained himself in full context and this fandom has still misread it and goes out of its way to twist the things he said... Like he was literally talking about the animal kingdom, ecological balance, and the comparison to political/social equality for people like him, minority groups, who CURRENTLY do not possess any of that. Like CHRIST in Henry's time racial segregation was still an active thing in the US.

He wasn't talking about predators in an exploitational way, he directly put forward the concept of 'a predator but for good'. Its literally what he said. He was explaining that predators (like spiders) in the animal kingdom are important because they weed away the undesirables, which keeps the ecosystem stable, without them, things would be bad. His idea was for humans, humans like him and Eleven, who had the powers they had, to be predators and weed away undesirables, bad humans, toxic humans, evil humans, to make the world a better place, especially for 'minority' demographics. And like I agree, even in its actual context this is ambitious and has the potential to go very, very wrong. But another thing about Henry is he's been trapped and locked away from the entire world for the last 20 years of his life. Henry has spent more years of his life locked away in a lab as a test subject and a slave then he spend free as a person. Henry only had 12 years in the "real world". My boys a little out of touch, theres no doubt about it, but this idea wasn't born from evil and a desire to hurt people. It was born from a desire to help and protect people from the same oppression and cruelty Henry had been subject to his entire life.

And my other gripe is that I feel like so many people in this fandom forget or ignore that Stranger Things is a period piece. Its not modern day. We're talking about conservative 1950s-1980s America. I don't think a lot of people fully comprehend exactly what the cultural, social and political environment was like back then but its really important to the show.

Anyway, as for how I'll feel? I don't know! I think I'll be confused, mostly. I know unless the Duffers come out and say "yea that was a r*pe allogory" I'm not gonna treat it as such. But I do genuinely believe at least SOME part(s) of my theory(s) involving the MF are true, whether or not Vecna has supreme control of it, I don't know, but I feel like there is more to it than just being a random cloud. Because theres just no way to me that the MF doesn't represent The Serpent from the DnD universe. Like if you know about the Serpent in DnD and you put it with what we know about the MF now in Stranger Things its Bang On. I also believe some inspo was taken From the Elder Brain but the Serpent I think is very closely referenced. And sure while it is sometimes stipulated in the DnD universe that the Serpent "isn't real"- or isn't its own being- and its actually just a figment of DnD Vecna's "madness", I feel like there is too many suggestions that the MF is something more than JUST a "tool" for Henry for that to be the cut and dry angle theyre gonna come at it as. (I mean they could but Idk, would feel a little off to me) How much more though? I don't know. I've entertained the idea of the MF just being a powerful being caught up in the mess of Henry's vendetta with the human world but I do personally lean more toward it being a ""malign god"" per se, of some sort just because thats a sexier aesthetic to me personally, particularly with how it feels like concepts with Vecna also references things like hinduism, and occult / esoteric themes and concepts (like the left-hand-path in particular!!) But if the MF is just a completely non-sentient power source for Henry its gonna feel weird to me with a lot of the other little things laced around the show. Taking things like the tentacles/vines/roots whatever for example-- I don't know how they intend to explain what/how they work or why they would be trying to get through to the normal dimension or why they were originally written as having a big part in turning Henry into Vecna, etc.

What’s something about your best friend that you love? oh this one is a really cute question… I have two ppl I'd consider besties :3 ugh they're both really passionate and love the things they love deeply so even when i'm not personally into their fandoms its so nice hearing them talk abt them and make me feel more comfy rambling abt things I love too… they're also both rly kind people and tbh that is the Best quality someone can have. nice to me. ALSO THEYRE BOTH GREAT ARTISTS and seeing what they create is soo cool and they inspire me… and they're both funny...lov my friends sm. if warm fuzzy feelings were able to be boxed mine would explode out of the box if I tried to shove them all inside. bc I have that Many Feelings of Love. (also...they both sent rly cute lil holiday boxes nov/dec and my GOD they know me so well. Feeling of Being Known is like. :") indescribable. sincerely so grateful to have met them both.

Do any of them have names? oh i WISH I was good at keeping plants alive OTL I've tried my dream is a tiny lil indoor area of edible plants or herbs or smth…also theres the fear my cat will Eat them (I mean Id be sure to get cat-safe ones but itd be ANNOYING to have to watch her that closely...) closest thing I kept consistently like an indoor plant was my plants in my fishtank when I still kept fish, but my goldies loved tearing them to SHREDS so they never lasted super long… -_- (im glad they were enjoying them and stimulated tho…)

@zoe-oneesama i think pretty much everyone knows about her Scarlet Lady AU, but just in case you don’t, it’s a reimagining of the show where chloe steals the ladybug miraculous from marinette and becomes a superpowered pain in the butt. it’s,,, so well done and really funny and lots of things that bother me from the show bother the author too so she fixes them LMAO

Recently came across your creepypasta art and its really good! Love your designs for them, especially Ben! On of your recent reblogs, you mentioned a monochrome version of him, how many versions of him have you seen and do you have any favorites? The whole idea of there being multiple versions of the pastas is pretty cool, it lets people kinda give their own spin on the characters!

hello welcome!!! :D yes! theres numerous versions of most creepypastas but in my time in the community as a kid ben was always the character with most interpretations! we can have a little ben drowned design history lesson under the cut!

monochrome ben was the one i grew up with and was popularized on deviantart by pastamonsters and an ask blog that used to be really popular but has kind of been forgotten by modern creepypasta fans known as askBEN-Drowned, whos ben looked like this v

(sidenote i loved this art style so much as a kid i tried everything to replicate it as a tot). i actually used to draw mono ben when i first came back to creepypasta in 2020, but when i decided to draw kind of a big detailed piece i realized having him monochrome in the piece would cause some trouble, so i made a color palette for him and that just kind of stuck. i really want to draw mono ben again though hes my favorite :D

mono ben is also where the whole 'ben is a pothead pervert' thing comes from as pastamonsters had ben smoking weed, and askBEN-Drowned had him both smoke as well as look at porn and love boobies. not something i partake in just a noteworthy piece of creepypasta history. i believe this may actually have been based off of dark link, too, whos an actual character in LoZ iirc.

another interpretation that also used to be popular but again is kind of forgotten by time was by an artist called L4Dpip-squeak who ran another ben ask blog on dA as well as a candlecove one

this interpretation is mostly dead to me though and id rather never have to see this design again as this artist was incredibly problematic and drew ben as a nazi as well as shipping incest and abuse and making s/a jokes although they never got called out for this i just literally remember it from when i was a fan as a kid. this artist also contributed to the 'pothead ben' trope but wasnt a pioneer of it rather this was just a widely accepted headcanon at the time by then.

then theres the most common design people use which is just link but smaller and with bleeding black and red eyes. v

nothing really too noteworthy about this one! ben drowned is a special creepypasta in that it was both a story on the website as well as an ARG off of the platform on youtube, so this kind of like. anime boy link with red eyes interpretation of ben just came from people reading the story but not knowing about the ARG, and not a lot of creepypasta fans that didnt already have majoras mask were willing to get too deep in the game to know what ''the statue of elegy'' was so they just, again, drew link with some artistic liberties. in a way, this version of ben kind of pioneered the 'black and red bleeding eyes' trope within the community which inspired another really popular but heavily ridiculed creepypasta ... sonic.exe, which started the ''hyperrealistic eyes'' trend, even if this design was never canon.

then theres the ARG BEN! nowww this one is actually really really new because of the ARGs recent revamp, so this design isnt all over the place but it is steadily gaining some traction!

this ones separate from the args ben and is an entity comprised of multiple people and i absolutely love this freak and i love drawing them even though i dont do it much

SO THATS LIKE all of the like. fandom-popular designs as most recent designs are just based off of the old ones, and as i mentioned mono ben is my favorite almost entirely due to nostalgia. theres many variations of other creepypastas too, though ben will always have the most interpretations accepted by the community jeff also has a good hefty amount of designs! and i absolutely agree with you! having artistic freedom with these characters is what a lot of people enjoy about it and i love playing with designs and using creepypasta characters as my little lab rats to practice designs on! Oh this is such a good question! (and im so sorry but my answer is going to be kinda cheesy haha)

I really like all of it for different reasons!

I love the show as a whole and the specials because it has one of the coolest concepts I’ve seen in a show. The more time has gone on, the more intrigued I am by the new things being introduced and the conflicts being explored. The fact that a show has drawn this many people in is kind of incredible in my opinion.

And then theres the fandom

Now i’m going to be honest, I’ve been watching miraculous since season one but only joined the fandom the night before the New York Special aired. I’m sure I missed a lot in that time. BUT! I am always so impressed by this fandom’s creativity! It’s one of the things that intrigued me the most about the fandom when I was looking in from the outside

For example, the sheer amount of aus I’ve come across? Absolutely uncanny and incredible. It’s like people just see something they love and turns it into something new that fits them even more, and I think it’s really cool

I’ve seen brand new artists and artists with massive followings alike create comics people (including me!!) follow and get excited about! And considering the amount of TIME and EFFORT it takes to make a comic, whether a multi part comic or a mini comic, it’s amazing how many artists are so inspired by this show that they create things like that

After nearly every episode I’ve seen Ao3 explode with fanfics about it and buzzing with thoughts and ideas and stories (stories that carried my brain through hiatuses). Brand new writers trying their hand at creating, seasoned writers coming up with more stories, there’s so much out there and I think it’s so cool how encouraging people can be

There’s SO much art and, as an artist, this obviously gets me really excited. I love how a show can provide so much inspiration that gives artists a chance to practice and improve so much! I, for one, have grown so much in my art because of the art I’ve drawn, and I’ve seen artists I follow improve and their styles change over time and I think it’s amazing.

The theories and meta?? People’s minds are insane. There are people in this fandom that make connections I never could, and they articulate them so well that I’m left in awe. Like, how cool is it that someone that smart obsesses over two teenage superheroes just like me, right?

Memes are always amazing. Honestly the creativity I’ve seen with memes and meme redraws? unmatched. This fandom is hilarious. I wish I had half the cleverness of some people here.

However, you didn’t ask for ALL the things I like about it; you asked for my favorite part. And, funnily enough, my favorite part isn’t exactly on your list.

My favorite thing about the Miraculous fandom is the people.

I have met people who have become some of my best friends. I've met people who are ready to encourage any and everyone. People who are still your friends beyond the fandom. Even people I don't know well or have never talked to directly seem kind and welcoming. I am so happy that the first fandom I've been a part of has been such a blessing.

I'm really happy to be here, I'm happy for the people I've met, and I'm happy for the experiences I've had because of miraculous. I love it all

i saw this question in a forum thread (a friend posted it) and it really set my mind racing. thought i’d post it on my blog to reach a wider audience because if you listen to any of these bands it might be something to think about next time you’re about to bring them up in conversation, or even if you’re just thinking of listening to any of them in private.

they might be giants haven’t heard most of their music tbh but it's too long of a name for a music band. elements of style, you know, Strunk Jr et al, you've GOT to be more assertive, so on, so forth. i think a simple, declarative "giants" would've fit better. you ask a guy at a party and he says "oh yeah i listen to GIANTS", man, you tell yourself, that's a big guy that listens to some big music. as it stands you really can't bring this up to anyone without loss of social standing the decemberists this band is pretty cool all in all if you know a little bit of russian history so you get the reference. decemberists = revolutionaries = a real go-getter attitude is what you're imagining when you hear the band's name. the thing though is their music is all funeral marches. i've not really listened to them, either, but just the two songs i heard felt samey. if you're at a bar and you're talking to someone who's not, like, oh, I know tzar nicholas, tzar chaikovsky and whatever, the "i majored in history" types, they'll just think of their shittiest winter when you tell them about the band, and imagine playing something from your ipod right after and it just sounds like wind going through dead trees and maybe wolves howling. i don't think they literally have songs like that, i'm not that stupid, but you know. evocation, program music. you can do that kind of stuff with a guitar or a flute. point being, you're not taking the conversation anywhere. sewerslvt i love good adult humor every now and then (the name i mean) but there really isn't much to talk about here. "oh this artist is really tragic" well okay cool but there's a time and place. i'm not at a greek theater. you know, the greeks, they were like "music is the most abstract form of art" and you're bringing up all this concrete stuff and i just wanna listen to a 4/4 beat. now, i'm being hyperbolic, of course i'm not a philistine, i can handle some pads, i even think putting a dial-up sound in your song is fresh and irreverent. but you listen to some of those songs and theres NO playful attitude there at all. you'd just sour the mood if you ever brought up sewerslvt and everybody would rather you didn't. the my little pony score i guess this is various artists technically, but nevertheless winter wrap up was my jam in 2015 or so. now i'd never admit to it because of certain things that happened to the fandom (too many to enumerate), but i'm bringing it up here for illustrative purposes. it's not because it's from a kids cartoon or anything, but when a fandom becomes embarrassing to be a part of, the "cringe" also bleeds onto the object of fandom (word in quotes because it itself has become "cringe" to use, i don't really want you guys to think i use it in earnest). i didn't explain it that well but i hope it helps. anyway if i think of any others i'll let you know.
