y/n loved grace for as long as she can remember. when the sky people first arrived, everything was so new. the metal buildings that kept the sky people alive were weird, the air in there made the na’vi’s lungs hurt if they stayed in it for too long, and they were all so small. humans are so tiny that they can literally pick them up like dolls.
so when grace augustine, a xenobotanist in her early twenties, met y/n, who had just turned 20, everything was new but the two loved new. this was the first time y/n saw a sky person after she was told by her elders to be wary of them.
despite being tall for a human, grace was still small to y/n. like a baby! y/n loved staying by grace’s side all day, every day. basically on grace’s side 24/7 if y/n didn’t have anything to do back in hometree.
if grace needed to get more samples in the forest, y/n was there to help her, well, that is until grace got her own avatar body. but before that, it was y/n carrying grace everywhere. even having her fly with her on her ikran at one point.
it was their kind of bonding of some sort. while grace’s avatar was being grown in the lab, y/n was just a huge cat following grace everywhere.
to everyone (who didn’t even take the time to get to understand the na’vi’s), y/n was an annoyance, especially during the time that grace opened a school for other na’vi’s to learn english. because even after classes, y/n would follow grace back to the labs but never long enough for her to lose her breath.
y/n just didn’t want anything bad happening to grace especially when she was not around. pandora was such a big planet and everything present in its forest would gobble these sky people up.
grace loved how protective y/n was towards her. even if all her co-workers don’t give two shits about her, she has y/n there to tell her otherwise.
y/n was like the sun to her moon, the light in her darkness. even if she never had her avatar, she didn’t mind bonding physically with y/n because what mattered to her was her love and y/ns love. the amount of love she received from y/n overweighs all the hardships she gets once she returns to the labs.
maybe… maybe with time, she can leave hell’s gate and stay with y/n until they both grow old. but now is not a time. just a little more wait, okay y/n? wait for me.

Chapter 4 - Becoming an avatar driver
●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡●♡
Jake watches the link bed statistics for a few moments to make sure everything was running smoothly before hastily jogging towards the room your avatar is.
“Brain activity looks good”
Said the scientist outside, watching your impending awakening through a glass screen. Jake entered the room having abandoned his gun and instead focusing on you, he looked worried but concentrated as he looked at your blue form. All they had to do was wait a few more moments.
—--------
The moment your eyes close your vision tunnels. You're surrounded by hues of blue, pinks and purples as you feel as though you're being transported across the thin barrier between subconscious and reality. Only moments later, you feel like you've been grounded once more, hitting this new reality with a mental thud.
Your body feels fresh, momentarily unnatural, then your eyelids begin to inch open, the harsh white light greatly contrasting the soft blue you had closed your eyes to.
This caused you to wince slightly and bring your hand to cover your eyes on reflex - your hand was blue. It was as if you had forgotten what you were doing and this strange change in colour startled you.
Realisation started to set in, you were blue, the transfer was successful.
As the harshness of the light subsided you look around the room further, seeing a few scientists all dressed in exo masks and baby blue suits but what stood out to you most was the only other avatar in the room, Jake. He stood out from the plain scientists and adorned bright colours with his skin which were further highlighted by the darkness of his clothing.
He smiled slightly at you, flashing those sharp canines.
The scientists soon huddled around you, asking you to sit up to which you complied. Everything seemed to be heightened. Your eyesight seemed to sharpen; your skin felt armoured and your hearing felt like you could listen to birdsong on the other side of Pandora. They asked you to touch your fingers to your thumb and then shone bright lights at your pupils - each test feeling more unnecessary than the last - they soon finished and you practically ripped the wires from your arms and stood up.
Your feet felt uneven and your head slightly light as you suddenly felt the affects of being 10 feet tall but it was a passing side effect, the grin soon returning to your face. Your tail whipped wildly behind you due to the appendage still feeling foreign, you knocked viles from their holder's and devices from their tables, it seemed the more embarrassed and nervous you got the more skittish you tail would get.
You look over at Jake, flushed with embarrassment, but he reassured you that when he first experienced his avatar he turned the whole lab against him.
After everything calmed down you took your first few baby steps to the world outside, Jake being there beside you for any assistance you may need. The world outside looked different without a mask, everything looked real now and the air fell crisper than the air on earth, everything felt cleaner. The gardens of the lab were almost military grade; they had training courts which had become dilapidated through lack of use and the overgrown gardens that you knew Grace had once loved. Everything seemed abandoned.
There were only a few avatars left in the compound but all were science geeks that had very little interest in things outside the natural life of this vast world; this meant the playground for all the other avatars had been cast aside out of everyone's mind.
Despite the dull nature of the desolate space, you enjoyed this new feeling, you enjoyed the featherlight tickles of the grass beneath you bare feet and Jake hadn't uttered a word since you'd come out, deciding it was best for you to take everything in before bombarding you with the bare bone rules. The two of you walked through the grounds, feeling the rays from the various midafternoon suns beating down on the secretive life on Pandora. The walk was calm and peaceful as you took in this new experience until Jake eventually broke the silence.
“You handled this a lot better than I did on my first test drive.”
He seemed reminiscent.
“I'm not surprised, you would've had a more fulfilling experience than me.”
You respond in a way so that you weren't mean and instead justifying his excitement, acknowledging how this experience was an extensive change for him both mentally and physically.
The two of you spoke a while longer about how it was that Jake felt when he was finally able to use his legs once more; through the whole conversation you allowed him to speak, letting him get everything off his chest as you were probably one of the first in a while to be sharing in a mildly similar experience. You felt special being trusted with such information.
However throughout the conversation you could tell that exposing his experiences like this was unnatural as he left out key information about his prior life and the hardships it held. Alas you summed this up to both his prior marine experience and then living in a proud warrior tribe, the man seriously couldn't get an emotional break.
Finally the two of you end up by the gate that led into the outside world of Pandora. The gate was thick and tall serving the purpose of keeping you in and whatever wasn't in out. It made you feel insignificant, this world had so much more life than you could currently comprehend, you had seen nothing yet you had seen a lot. Jake then turns to you and places and awkward hand on your shoulder, giving it a pat before dropping his hand - it was clear any other strategy than bossing people around was still strange to him.
“You'll do good here”
He said four such simple words and it still inspired hope in you, hope that you might be able to faintly follow in his footsteps.
“Thank you, for helping me and everything”
You were extremely grateful for this experience even more so for everything else to come, you spoke again.
“Are we going to see the forest tomorrow?”
You asked with hope but Jake looked at you nervously.
“We can make a basic start…. But Neytiri wants to inspect you before you go too far out”
He says, rubbing the back of his neck. You knew Neytiri was a fearless warrior and extremely protective of the people as well as the forest and rightly so. Although, Jake had said this as if it were something to be afraid of, now you knew you were going to have to impress this woman if you wanted even a shot at exploring the forests.
—-------
Jake walked you back to the hut were the other avatars sleep before bidding you goodnight and saying he'd be there again at 9 in the morning tomorrow, possibly with the feared yet respected Neytiri.
You collapsed into the specially made beds and fell asleep only to wake back up in your human body. You pushed the lid of the link bed open and groaned with the slight soreness of your muscles, against your better judgement you climbed out the chamber and looked around the room. Everything was the same dull grey colour with various pieces of technology the sight made you miss the vividity of the forests even though you had not experienced them.
You trudged your way through the bland corridors and into the communal eating areas once more, tonight's dinner was teylu and spartan fruit for dessert. The teylu looked unappetising as it was essentially a massive grub cooked amongst vegetables, the texture was soft with a tougher skin and it had a slightly sweet taste to it after you got over said texture. Dessert was much more appealing the purple skin being slightly bitter as you bit through to the sweet blue flesh, overall the conversation was the same as the previous night but with less tension.
Norm decided to pester you, interviewing you about your meeting with Jake, it's as if he was using you as a sponge for information that he could wring out later - in a good way of course. Something he found highly amusing was when he decided to ask if you had an attraction to Jake and when a slight crimson hue came to your cheeks you couldn't get the boyish grin off his face for the entire evening despite your denial. He was insufferable and tolerable at the same time, your only peace coming when he finally fell asleep in the adjacent hammock with you not too far behind.

Thank you everyone who has supported the story so far, I know it's not much so constructive criticism is welcome. Just also wanted to say that due to schools starting back up I won't be able to update in the week but will aim to update every weekend x

Cuddling with Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite <3
chubby lesbian human reader because i said so
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i know i know neytiri doesn't "particularly" like the company of humans
and it's true she hated your guts the first time you two met
she saw you walking through the forest one day while she was hunting
let's just say she wasn't happy
while you were examining various plans she jumped from the tree and immediately settled a dagger at your throat
"i'm not RDA, i'm one of the science guys" you almost pissed your pants 🫣
"next time you come back i'll kill you" she says to you sternly as she dissappears
her english was amazing but grace did tell you she ran a school for the na'vi children so you figured she learned there
despite her warning you continued coming back to the forest and exploring
she just watched you from a far
always with a bow & arrow in hand incase you tried to do something
that went on for two weeks until you went to touch a poisonous plant
"do not touch that" she says sternly as she comes out of her hiding place
you were straddled by her sudden presence "why?" you asked with confusion
"it is poisonous" she says while looking at you with nothing but curiosity
and that's how your "friendship" started
you'd come to the forest everyday after lunch and she would show you the beautiful plant life of pandora
she became curious about your body
it was so different from the na'vi one
she've never been so close to a human before, grace was always in her avatar while she was teaching at the school
one night you wondered too far and she suggested to make camp, sleep and then start the journey back tomorrow
it was rather hot so you decided to take off your shirt while you slept
neytiri was mesmerized by your body
your breasts & stomach were larger then hers but she wasn't disgusted
you look so soft she thought to herself
as you both layed down onto the forest floor, she couldn't help herself as she pulled you into her and cuddled you
you were very surprised by the sudden change in the na'vi woman's behavior
she gently starts poking & touching your stomach, you've always been overweight so you are extremely insecure about it
"look i know it's disgusting but could you please not poke it please?" she pleades
neytiri looks at you confused "what do you mean? i'm simply admiring the beauty of your body" she says as she continues stroking your stomach
you blush heavily at her words, you never had someone compliment you like that, especially compliment your body
"thank you tiri" you smile as you nuzzle your face into her neck as she holds you close
she blushes intensely herself as she hugs you closer to her body
from that day on you two were inseparable
she would do everything with you
showing you the plant life of pandora, teaching you how to use a bow & arrow, telling you about na'vi culture, teaching you the na'vi language, introducing you to seze and you even went flying together <3
she would come to the lab with you to watch you work because apparently "being away from you for two hours is unacceptable"
she is very very very protective of you
if she sees another human or even another na'vi staring at you (it doesn't matter it can be out of disgust, curiosity or even admiring you and looking at your body) she immediately wraps her arm around your waist protectively
especially when it comes to tsu'tey because he does make jokes a lot of the times
adores the size difference between you two, pats your head a lot and when you get annoyed she kisses your forehead
she praises you a lot knowing that you are extremely insecure about your body
and you cuddle every single night, she kisses & caresses every inch of your body, making sure that you feel beautiful & appreciated

Grace Augustine X Fem Omaticaya Reader
A/N: You are 45 years old here considering Grace herself is 50
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have known Grace for years, you remember her young and fresh-faced just as you were when she first landed on your home. She was bright, curious, and wanted to know everything and anything she can about life here from the plants to the Na'vi, and Eywa herself. You were intrigued because you have never seen a human before and when she came out in her Avatar you were just as curious because she looked like you but, she had four fingers instead of three like you and she had what they called eyebrows. Her eyes and nose were smaller as well but, you were so intrigued that you looked over what would be considered imperfections. You remembered your first interactions.
"Hi," Your head was tilted to the side as you watched the Na'vi look-alike come alive and look at the plants, intrigued with the fauna and the insects and animals that wandered around. You were supposed to be out hunting when you first caught sight of her in those weird garments. you have never seen such garments before. They seemed they would get in the way of hunting, of trying to move silently in the trees. They will get caught on branches and twigs.
"Hi?" She was even speaking a language you have never heard before and it seemed she caught herself because to your surprise she greeted you in normal Na'vi fashion
"Oel ngati Kameie." Her accent was different but, you can overlook that. Giving a tentative smile you slowly made your way to her, placing your bow down so as to not spook her. You were curious as to what she was doing and she seemed as if her whole world lit up when you got closer to her. It seemed she was just as curious about you as you were about her. This can be interesting.
"Oel ngati Kameie" You ignored the way her smile made you feel at that moment.
That was the start of a long and beautiful friendship with her. Over the years you have watched her connect with the Tsahik and Olo'eyktan as they welcomed what we called dreamwalkers into our home. They did not seem to be a threat and were simply curious about our way of life. She had opened a school for everyone to learn English and you were there to help mediate the children and to help her translate the rare times there was a loss of translation. It was also the first time you saw her and you realized how complicated your feelings were about to get.
However, all of that changed when the school was attacked by humans after Sylwanin and others destroyed their trucks and she as well as many children were killed. Sylwanin was the oldest daughter of the Tsahik and Sylwanin and per their order of them, all dream walkers were banished from entering the home tree and were to be killed on sight once in their territory. You were distraught over such a loss but, you couldn't bare being apart from her. You would volunteer to watch them, you would sneak off whenever you can to watch her and talk to her for a bit but, that was far and in between. The damage caused by the humans was too severe and therefore put a strain and hold on your feelings for her. Years went by and more humans came and the only time you even cared about one of them was when Jake Sully came and was declared chosen by Eywa. You were happy. You figured times have changed and one day your Grace would be able to connect with Eywa, come to the Home tree, and be able to see you. As time went by with teaching Jake Sully, you were informed of something spectacular by Neytiri herself
"Jake Sully has managed to convince my parents to let Grace come back." Your head had turned so fast that the beads in your hair clinked together to eye Neytiri who had a small smile on your face. You had seen her as a daughter and would always talk to her and Tsu'tey whenever you can. They were the only ones to know of your feelings for Grace and just how devastated you were that she was not allowed back to Home Tree.
"Are you sure? Ma Grace can come back? You promise?" You had dropped the bowl you were making in order to turn fully to Neytiri who let out a little chuckle at your eagerness.
"Yes, Sa'nuk. Your Grace will be here." You sent a prayer to Eywa before engulfing Neytiri in a hug and ordering her to take you to Jake Sully to personally thank him for this opportunity.
That was a while ago and you had re-connected with her and she brought a peace to your heart you never knew you needed. All of this did not last as Hometree was once again attacked by the humans but, this time they destroyed Home Tree completely. Your heart broke into a million pieces and you felt betrayed. You felt a deep sinking hurt and you were with Neytiri banishing Grace and Jake. It was their fault you no longer had a home and your Olo'eyktan was killed. You had prayed and prayed until Jake had shown up on Toruk and hope was brought upon the people once again. However, peace was not brought upon you when Jake informed you that Grace was dying. You felt as if you can cry going through the motions as Jake and Neytiri brought her body and her Avatar to the spirit tree. You knew there was a good chance that it wouldn't work and you had convinced Mo'at to allow you to be at the front. If anything, you wanted Grace's last face to be yours.
"Ma Grace." You pet her hair as everyone chanted. "My sweet, strong Grace." You watched as she reached for a weak hand to hold the one you had on her face.
"Oel Ngati Kameie, nga yawne lu oer...ma Y/N." You felt tears escape you as the words you longed to hear, begged for her to say escaped her lips as everything went silent. You waited with bated breath as her mask was removed and it was silent. Too silent. No movement. You felt your ears pin to your head, your hands shaking not wanting to accept that your Grace was with Eywa. Just as you were about to whimper her Avatar moved, your eyes focusing on her face watching as her eyes slowly opened, focusing on you. You sent a prayer to the Great Mother feeling a much bigger, much bluer hand guiding your face back down to hers.
" Ma Grace." You brought your face down to hers pressing your foreheads together
"Ma Y/N." You knew everything was going to be okay. You will be pulled out of the Time of Great Suffering.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's insinuated that we have the same ending as Avatar 1 except Grace lives here. This was a little different than how I usually write but, I think I did a pretty good job. Let me know what you guys think!

Forest Of Dreams PT6: Dear Diary
Neytiri x reader
Wordcount // 7k
Summary // Lynn documents her progress in video logs as Neytiri updates her mother on the skills she's passing on to Lynn.
Warning // talks about death, language, animal death,
A/N //Ok so this chapter is gonna be a little different just a warning, it's not gonna be drastic just a different I guess idk. So you know that scene where Jake does a video log of what he's learning that's what this is but it also sprinkles in some solely Neytiri scenes with her family
Also I’m so done writing this if it’s bad or really fast paced that’s why
Speaking Na’vi (unless were with just Neytiri)
[Y/n is talking in a video log]
«Neytiri's memory»
‘Thoughts’
*Whispering*
*Mini time skip, like a small location change
Tumblr media
You sat down on a table with the camera, adjusting it to make your face more in frame, and flicked it on. You were so tired you half debated on just sleeping in the pod that night
[ alright, so this is… vid log 15, times 1357 hours or just 1:57 now 58,] you slouched your shoulder and dragged your hands across your face [do I have to do this like now, I'm exhausted grace,] You tried to plea with Grace [“nope, do it now when you still remember”] you turned back and continued your log of the day
[alright im in the cabin right now and the days go by in a bink]
*
[the language is a pain in the ass sometimes]
“No no it is Mikyun, MIK-YUN, try again” “Maiky-” she smacked your forehead “MIKYUN” she pointed to her ears while you rubbed your forehead “Mikjan?” she flicked your ears “Mikyuun” “Mikyun” you had finally got the word right, she nodded her head before moving onto eyes “Nari”
[some words I know by heart now, like skxawng, which means moron or idiot, get called that a lot by her]
You are in the river hopping from rock to rock “Hey Neytiri, race ya” You begin to jump from rock to rock before your foot slips on a particularly slippery rock, Neytiri just rolled her eyes while looking down at you “skxawng”
*
[Norm and Jake's attitude towards each other has gotten better though. when Norm helps me with the language, Jake joins sometimes]
You were sitting on the table while Norm was teaching you to pronounce ‘oel ngati kameie’ correctly. you knew how to say it already. It being the first phrase Neytiri drilled into you
“Ok so the hand movement is important, it's like giving a handshake to someone important” you explained to Jake “Yeah it's like I see you but not seeing physically but spiritually like I understand you” Norm elaborated on the social side of the greeting
*
[on typical days we go in the treetops and explore, My feet are getting tougher, my legs are moving faster by the day, and my body is stronger the more im here. Neytiri says ‘I have to trust my body, don't think just do’]
You and Neytiri were running along the canopy going from branch to branch, she was ahead and you had to keep up with her. She grabbed ahold of a branch and swung to another one, you slowed for a moment before leaping towards the branch and running with her again
[but sometimes I think she's trying to kill me]
As you and Neytiri were running you saw her leap off a branch deeper into the canopy of huge leaves. You saw her glide and slide to each leaf effortlessly, and eventually land gracefully. You looked down in awe at her before you realized you'd have to jump down to her as well. You debated in your mind if you really wanted to risk this but Neytiri beckoned you to come with her hand
“fuck it, you only live once” You tilted your head and looped your bow around you, backing up before running off, throwing yourself into the air. you're pretty sure all of Pandora could hear your terrified screams as you descended. You hit every leaf on your way down rather harshly. And unlike Neytiri, you somehow got caught in a few vines
You attempted to grab the leaves to slow the fall but it was useless. Neytiri was just wincing at you as you fell. She jumped back a bit when your bow landed near her before you finally came down. You landed on an oversized mushroom which, thankfully, broke your fall. You rolled off it hitting the ground hard though. You stood up looking up trying to act nonchalantly as possible as you brushed off your collected vines and picked up your bow
*
[she even showed me some na'vi costumes and such]
As you were walking on the forest floor doing some tracking when you came across a fruit. It looked like a banana, though a heavily misshapen banana. You picked it up to examine it. It looked fresh as well
“Hey Neytiri, what's this kind of fruit?” She looked up from the tracks to see you holding a utumauti, she got up and walked over to you “You found a utumauti, a canopy fruit. They are very hard to find fresh and untouched.” she took the fruit from you to expect it “it's considered lucky to find one like this” and handed the fruit back to you
“Eat it you deserve it” You nodded your head and tried to find a way to open it, “you want some Neytiri?” she shook her head “It is considered rude to take” You shrugged your shoulders before taking a bite out of the fruit “I won't find it rude if you take some” you offered a big pice to her. She reached out her hand hesitantly before finally taking it and eating it. Some of the juice squirted out of her mouth, and without thinking you went to whip it away with your thumb
She stood frozen, her cheeks darkened a little bit, she smacked your hand away and went back to the trails she “skxawng” she muttered under her breath. Only then did you realize your action and apologized
*
[I have come to realize that archery is not my forte, and I believe it's because of my posture. ]
Your archery abilities were far from desired. You had a bad stance, and you couldn't aim for shit. On your first few days, Neytiri would often smack your arms into place and pat your core to get you to strengthen it
“Txur ni’ul, stronger” She gestured to her core and breathed in deep, you readjusted your posture hoping it would be correct this time. But apparently, this was worse cause she just approached you and manually adjusted your posture, and told you to shoot before slapping your elbow back into place again.
You didn't even hit the target…
You heard laughing in the distance to see Salau coming towards you with her bow in hand “Haha Lynn your so bad” she pointed her finger at you, you looked down at her with annoyance on your face “Well if you're so good why don't you give it a try kid” you challenge and she just smirked at you, she got into position and released her arrow
It was a bullseye…damnit
She looked at you with a shit-eating grin while you scowled down at her and stuck your tongue at her. Neytiri eventually sent her away to get back to your lessons
*
[Every day, we watch the trails, look at the tracks near the watering hole, and listen carefully for any noises. Or changes in the smell of the air]
Neytiri said you two would track some nantangs. First, she had you identify what their tracks looked like. You found some trails and followed them for a long distance until you thought you had lost them.
Neytiri stopped at new tracks. She inspected the dirt, her head went in a direction before you both heard something in the distance. She went towards it as you followed her
You two crawled up a small incline to see a family a nantangs, a mother, and some pups. Now you were a little scared because the last time you had a run-in with them they tried to kill you. But the more you looked the more you cooed at the pups, you couldn't help but think of dogs when you saw them
[she talks about the energy of the forest and how it flows in the animal's spirits- “Hope the tree-hugging craps, not your final”] Jake interrupted your log with a laugh [“It isn't all about the eye-hand coronation and studying for some test”] Grace also chimed into your log [“she needs to listen to what Neytiri is teaching her”] jake gave a look and used a hand to mock grace, you just rolled your eyes
[“Try to see the forest through her eyes”] You turned around to them with an annoyed look on your face [“hey im kinda busy doing something, could you two quit it”] Jake put his hands up in mock surrender with a grin, while grace hummed and went back to her work.
*
[I managed to gather some courage to talk to Neytiri's parents. Asked if Grace, Norm, and Jake could visit the village sometime, Eytukan was hesitant, but Mo’at looked excited at the idea]
Norm walked up to Mo’at with his head down in fear and respect, he introduced himself and Jake was right behind him ready to go “I see you tsahik Mo’at, may the great mother smile down on our first meeting” Mo’at leaned over to Grace “he speaks well”
When it was Jake's turn “I See You…Tshakik Mo’At. May Mother Smile…To Us…First Meeting” it was botched, so botched you couldn't hold in your laughter, Mo’at leaned over again “Him not so much” The two older women laughed at this meeting
Sometime later you brought Grace over to the group of children you grew fond of
“Hello, children” Grace walked to a group of children, salau’s popped her head towards to voice and practically ran to Grace with the other excited children behind her. Grace kneeled down to accept them in a hug
“You all grew so big” The children all surrounded her with smiles so big it looked like their faces would split. the girls grabbed at her small braids “You all are so pretty” The girls giggled at the compliment
“You still remember your English lessons” They all nodded their heads, especially Salau. She got to practice by talking to you. She pointed to her ears and all the children said ‘ears’ in English. Then she started to count on her fingers, they all counted up to three on their fingers, but Grace continued up to four on her, she wiggled her pinky and all the kids giggled at it
In the corner of your eyes, you could see Jake looking around the village, many of the warriors eyeing him suspiciously, especially Tsu'tey. You walked towards him and threw your arm around his shoulder “Brother, your Na’vi is terrible” he scoffed and unlatched you from your grasp, but you took his arm o show him some stuff
*
[Neytiri finally takes me to hunt with her, sometimes we find animals and just admire them together]
You and Neytiri were looking at tracks again when you two came across a herd of sturmbeast. You went to draw your bow but Neytiri stopped you. “You are not ready, for now just watch” She went back to observing the animals. She looked calm and collected, she was just admiring the animals, something she always did when you would into the forest.
*
[sometimes she takes me out at night, she says it to bask in the great mother's beauty, but I think she just wants to hang out]
While exploring at night you came across some fan lizards or kenten as they called them. You saw it on a branch, Neytiri shook your shoulder encouraging you to touch it. You reached your hand out to it slowly, when you grazed it its wings shot out in a circle and floated away, you laughed and looked to Neytiri. She laughed and went to some tall grass and scared some more kenten and chased them around trying to catch them.
You looked around to see them all fly away, Neytiri acted kinda…cute in a way, she chased them around while grunting at them, you reached towards one, and another came flying towards you. You leaped for it but it was too high, both you and Neytiri couldn't stop laughing.
One flew past you both, you looked at each other, you grinned, and started to race towards it, she took after you not long after. She was catching up with you, so you ran faster, you hopped over logs and branches trying to catch the kenten.
You hopped onto a branch while Neytiri ran under it. You made your final leap to the kenten but alas it flew too high, you fell to the forest floor and landed with a thud. You open your eyes to see Neytiri looking at you. You stare at each other for a moment before you start to laugh. She was still under when you popped yourself onto your knees, she started to laugh to when she pushed you off her.
You landed in the dirt still laughing when a kenten landed near you. you were quick to grab it. It rested in your hands as you inspected it, Neytiri brushed up against you to get a better look at it, and you moved it closer to her. You two let it walk on your hands before letting it go. You two just sat in silence letting yourselves catch your breaths.
Now you were admiring eyes beauty, everything glowed, as the now familiar greens, blues, and purples glowed like stars. You didn't know it but while you were admiring the forest, someone else was admiring you, like you were stars.

[I even get to ride on neytiris ikran seze. That was pretty fun but also terrifying]
You once again made the trek up Home Tree to the canopy. Neytiri was dressed in raiding clothes, as you had come to learn.
“What are we doing today? You already showed me your Ikran” Once you made it to the top she turned towards you giving you a piece of meat “I am showing you how to fly, so you know what to do when you become taronyu” You nodded to show you understood
“But how will I do that” Neytiri smirked and then turned her back to you. She proceeded to make the same calls that she did when she first showed you this place. That's when you connected the dots “Oh no don't tell me-” you were caught off by an ikran flying out from the tree, the same one Neytiri rides “This is Seze, my ikran, She has seen many hunts with me” she beckoned you forward, you kept your head down as to avoid her eyes
Neytiri took your wrist and held it up to Seze's mouth “We will ride her together, but first she must be comfortable with you” You looked up and looked at her mouth and offered the meat to her. She took it happily, and when she finished it she chirped happily.
Neytiri praised the animal before giving her another piece of meat. She made the bond with her and hopped on, she held out her hand to you, and you looked at it for a moment before eventually grabbing her hand. You swung your body over seze and sat behind Neytiri. You were unsure where to put your hands but just decided to put them on her shoulders.
“Are you ready?” you made your sitting more comfortable “Yep” and with the confirmation, she took off fast, out of instinct you wrapped your arms around her waist to get a better grip, scared you'd fall off. You could faintly hear a gasp leave Neytiri's lips, out of the shock neytiri lost focus and seze reacted by declining a bit. But Neytiri quickly focused again and seze flew straight again.
After overcoming your initial panic, you looked around and noticed that you were actually up in the air. You could feel the wind blowing on your face and your hair whipping around in the breeze. You loosened your hold on Neytiri's waist to get a better look over the waterfall you flew over, as Neytiri looked over at you, she couldn't help but notice the look of amazement on your face. She gave you a grin that could’ve made your day if you saw it.
"Hold on tight," she said as she got into position. You both began to ascend at an angle, with Seze flying higher and higher until she suddenly stopped and began to fall backward, causing the three of you to plummet downwards. You let out a scream of terror and once again your hold on her waist tightened, you could hear Neytiri laughing, you wanted to yell at her but you could feel seze turn upwards
Your tight hold on her loosened a bit when she leveled out, at this point, you had an iron grip on her and seze. You heaved heavily, your heart fell to your ass and you felt dizzy “Never- never do that again” You placed a hand over your heart to calm it down. But she just laughed as you both flew.
[Thankfully Neytiri didn't try anything else, or I would’ve died on seze]
*
[well that's all that happened today, now I'm going to take my happy ass to bed, Lynn Sully signing off]
The log turned off and showed your other logs, Jake just stared at himself. He went to download the newest entry you recorded. He felt conflicted, he could see just how happy you were, how much you were learning, so to just take it and hand it over to Quaretch made him feel like he was backstabbing you, well in a way he was.
“We're buying time Jake” Trudy came over to him “If we dont give him something they’ll pull the plug on us” Jake took her words into consideration and handed her the port. Just as he did both Grace and Norm came into the cabin, talking about the samples they just took.
“Alright I'm about to head out, Do we need anything” “Yeah could you pick us some cocoa and peanut butter, Jake what does Lynn like” Jake looked up at her “Hmm, oh she likes pudding cups, any flavor…really”

[LOCATION- CABINS/Hometree]
“Ok so tomorrow HQ is making us do medical checkups, unfortunately, we can't get out of those,” Grace said with a hint of annoyance, it was a rare moment where all five of you sat eating dinner together “They will take all day so that means you will have to take a break from lessons with Neytiri” you paused midbite at that information “but-” “no buts, you have to, you’ll have to tell her”
*
The next morning you got up early and got into the link pod to talk to Neytiri. you woke up to see Neytiri already awake staring at you. Her eyes were wide like she just got caught doing something
“Umm morning” you waved to her while sitting up “Oh yes, good morning” she to started to get up, getting out of her snonivi, she noticed that you didn't make any attempts “Why aren't you getting up?” you scratched your head “umm well I have to go to home base for a medical check-up, it's mandatory so I can't do lessons with you. Sorry” you offered an empathic smile to her
“Oh, ok I understand” For some unknown reason she felt saddened by the thought of not spending time with you “If I have time ill try and come down, but can't make any promises” She shook her head “No, it's fine, you don't need to come”
there was an awkward silence in the air before she turned away, she could hear rustling in the air before she descended the spiral
* (Pass this point all na’vi will be typed normally)
She used to train for her tsahik duties with her mother, but your lessons had interrupted them. She entered the healing tent and sat with her mother “My child, why are you here and not training LynnSuli?” Mo’at was grinding some herbs “She is busy today and can't make it” Neytiri looked away, only looking in her mother's direction when she handed her some paste she had made earlier
Mo’at hummed at the explanation, “Well, how has the dream walker been doing?” neytiri's tail swished to the side a bit “Well, her language has gotten better, she can hold a conversation before reverting to her tongue”
« “Umm…could you please hand me the wrap, please” You Na’vi had improved immensely, you could actually talk to people without pausing every second to remember a word, “you're getting better, you dont sound like a child” You had puffed your chest out at the compliment, “Of course, it has, I have the best teacher” You winked at her before you started to eat your food »
“Hmm, I heard from Tsu'tey that her shooting was that of a child, is that still true” Mo’at had a grin on her face as she elbowed her daughter “No, her shooting has gotten better too, she actually hits the target” she chuckled a bit
« you drew the bow back, your posture almost perfect, key word almost. You had gotten better to the point that Neytiri had stopped smacking you into the correct place. As she adjusted your elbow and forearm you couldn't help but notice how close she had gotten, her face was practically next to yours before she noticed the closeness. She backed away and motioned to shoot. You shook your head with a small smile and released the arrow, this time it was really close to a bullseye. You had a big smile on your face and turned to Neytiri “Hey look, I hit the target, and so close to the center!” you went over to the target to retrieve the arrow while Neytiri shook her head in amusement. »
*
The day had passed by rather slowly for Neytiri, without your usual banter.
Currently, she was eating lunch with her family, along with Tsu'tey. “My daughter, why do you look sad” Neytiris's father, Eytukan, had asked as she didn't really engage in conversation
“Nothing Father” her mother scoffed at that “She misses her Tawtute, she was mopping around all day in the hut” Eytukan seemed interested in this information “Why do you miss this Tawtute my daughter?” she looked embarrassed at the question “I do not miss her, just…umm…board without her, her dumb antics are funny” she straightened her posture to make it look like she knew what she was saying, when in fact she was just bull shitting her response, she really did miss you
“Hmm, well if your so board without her, why dont you entertain us with stories about her little antics” her mother tried to help her daughter, “it's what I do when your father is away from me” but she also wanted to know a little about you, since you tend to avoid her out of fear “she seems to have plenty river stone beads in her hair” Neytiri seemed to think about it
« “Hey Neytiri look at this stone!” you two were by the river, and your eye happened to catch a really pretty teal stone “Yes, it is really pretty, will you do something with it?” you looked up at her with curiosity “what do you mean” she nealed down with you “you can turn these rocks into beads and craft them into something, or you can put them into your hair” she pulled a bundle of her braids “like mine, these were carved from wood”
Where her hair was braided with little beads in them, your hair on the other hand was very basic and plain at the moment, it had a few small braids done by Salau but the rest of it was loses and tied back “yeah sure can you show me how?”
You two would often come to this bed and pick out rocks you'd find cool or pretty “Back on earth we call these rocks Basalt, there are made up of plagioclase and pyroxene minerals” You went to pick up another one “and this one would be granite, its made up of quartz, potassium feldspar, and sodium feldspar” you looked to Neytiri to make sure she understood, she nodded her head so you continued, in truth she didn't understand a word you were saying but you looked happy
“Typically, these rocks have rough edges, but being near a body of water caused them to erode over time due to the constant washing. This process usually takes years, but I believe that the water in Pandora has a higher level of acidity, which accelerates the erosion.” you went on and on about the rocks and Neytiri just sat there and listened and tried to understand what you were saying. You had collected so many stones that they decorated your once bare hair »
“Lynn really likes rocks, we go by to the river and she picks up the stones and admirer them-” a loud laugh cut Neytiri “HAHA, that demon likes rocks, HAHA, of course, she likes rocks she is dumb as one-” Tsu'tey yelped when Neytiri pinched him “she is not dumb! She says back on earth she was the smartest eveng in her school, she went to a school to be knowledgeable in stones to”
she tried to defend you but Tsu'tey still insulted you “If she was so smart then why does she learn rocks” Neytiri and Tsu'tey arguing were starting to grate on Eytukans nerves “ENOUGH! Tsu'tey” Mo’at then stepped in “Lynnsuli is strange but we must value all of Eywas creations, even ones as small as rocks” Tsu’tey huffed at the notion and Neytiri wore a smirk showing she won the augment
The four of them continued their meal before they heard someone come up to them “NEYTIRI!” she looked over her shoulder to see Salau running towards them “Have you seen Lynn? I haven't seen her all day” she huffed like she just ran a lap around hone tree “She had to do Tawtute things so is not here” Salau shoulders slumped a bit “Aww, I was hopping she could play with me” Neytiri patted the ground “Well, why dont you sit with us for a bit” Salau ears perked up before sitting down
The five of them sat and talked and finished eating their lunches. They all left at one point, Salau and Tsu’tey to do lessons, Eytukan was requested, and Mo’at went back to the healing tent. Leaving only Neytiri. When she finished her food she went out to the riverbed. She was just walking when she noticed a nugget of amber, she picked it up and walked back to home tree with it

[LOCATION- HELLS GATE Hours before]
You were just finishing up your check-up when someone from the bridge came over to you and the doctor “Mr. Selfrige requested Lynn Sully, alone” You looked to Grace, he seemed to tack that alone because of her. She nodded to you “alright I'm almost done just give me a minute
*
You and the guy from earlier walk into the bridge to see Selfridge playing mini golf again, it seems that’s every time you see him he's playing golf, “Mr. Selfridge, Lynn Sully is here” The man presented you to him and walked back to his station. “Ms. Sully, happy to you in the flesh again” he didn't even look up to look at you “Yeah, whatcha need me for sir, if I may ask?”
He finally looked up at you “Yes,” he pointed at you “if you just wait for a minute for my other guest ill explain everything to you” he walked over to his office and you followed, once you got in there another man entered. He just happened to be Colonel Quaritch “You must be the Lynn sully I've heard so much about” he stuck out his hand for you to shake it “Oh um yeah, nice to meet you *I guess*” you shook his hand then retracted it back into your pocket.
Selfridge spoke up catching your attention “Well I'm sure you wonder why I called you in,” he took a swig of his coffee before continuing “The thing is we need you to hurry up your process of moving the natives out, so, for now, I want you to report to Quaritch-” that confused you “why do I need to report to him?” he gave a blank stare
“Before I was interrupted, I was going to say that we plan on actively making them move, by force. And your reports will be nice to have” Quaritch stepped in “Think of it as an extra motivator for you, if you don't get them out peacefully, my team will have to get them out with force”
“And what if I refuse?” you were getting pissed, your fist were balled up in anger, Selfridge answered “We’ll pull you from the program and send you back to earth” Quaritch also added to the pile of bad news “and we’ll go ahead and remove them, it can be done as soon as now” there really was nothing you could do, if you refused they go ahead with it, but if you agreed you could at least get them out naturally.
You hung your head in both shame and anger “Fine, ill do it” Selfridge perked up “Good, you already wasted two months and a half, just speed it up and you'll be fine” he dismissed you both, you looked out the many windows to see it was already nightfall, you plans of spending time with Neytiri were squashed.
*
By the time you all got back to the cabin, you wanted to sleep. But grace all made you eat dinner together again
Your mood had spilled into the room, Jake kept looking back at you and then to Grace “Hey, what's wrong with you?” Jake asked while stuffing his sandwich in his mouth “I was planning to spend time with Neytiri” Norm looked at you sympathetically “Yeah that does suck, I would kill to be learning the Omatikaya ways” Jake looked at Norm with a blank face “I dont think that's what she meant” he looked at you “what does she mean then?” Jake put his hand on your shoulder and then on his heart “She just misses her girlfriend Neytiri”
“Lay off man, I dont like Neytiri like that, besides, she promised to that guy Tsu’tey” Jake didn't buy it “Yeah, and I can breathe the air here” “fuck off jarhead” you bit into your sandwich with some aggression behind it
You got up and went to bed, just wanting this dreadful day to end
You settled into your top bunk, and you looked at the ceiling that was bare, on normal nights you could see the stars before you woke up in the link pod, but tonight you'd have to imagine the stars to go to bed. Sooner than later you felt sleep take you in its arms.
*
You were chasing someone in the beautiful forest of Pandora. You hopped over bioluminescent logs and branches. Ducked under branches. And crossed over a small river before you finally caught the mystery woman. The two of you were laughing before she escaped your grasp and ran away again.
You chased after her with the biggest smile on your face, her laughter could be heard echoing through the forest.
By the time you caught up to her again, you were at a tree, it glowed like the stars in the night. She stopped running by this time, she was standing, just admiring the tree. You came up behind her and grabbed her by her waist. She giggled and writhed and you grasp. You set her down on the ground. She turned around, and when she did you couldn't help but gasp. Cause who was this mystery woman exactly?
Nytiri
You two just stared into each other's eyes. You studied every detail on her face. Her freckles glowed against her skin, and the markings on her face framed it beautifully. Some braids fell in front of her face, you slowly went to brush them behind her ear. You went to lean in closer, her doing the same. Just as your lips were about to meet
*
You gasped awake. Your heart was racing and sweat coated your forehead. You checked the time to see it was 3 in the morning. You laid down again, instead of sleeping again, you were thinking about what your mind just conjured up. Yes, you had dreamed about girls before, but they were just girls you found cute. You never really thought of Neytiri like that, or at least that's what you thought
Yeah, there had been times you thought she was pretty, and times when you thought she was more beautiful than the moons. But you never thought you could think of her in the light.
While staring at your ceiling you fell back asleep again.
*
Hours later you woke up to both your alarm and the strike of thunder. You sighed and got down from your bunk and went to get ready for the day.
You eat breakfast and brush your teeth, by the time you were ready Norm was awake
“Hey Norm, sleep well” you waved to him as you walked over to the pod bay “Yeah it was alright, though you waking up didn't help” you paused “Oh you heard that? My bad didn't know I was that loud” you rudded your neck while looking at him “its fine, but what woke you up?”
‘crap, do I tell him? He's not Jake I'm sure he wouldn't make fun of me, but what if he tells Jake, ill never hear the end of it from him’
“Oh umm, a dream is all” You shuffled off to your link pod before he could ask any more questions
////
[LOCATION- HOME TREE]
You descended down the spiral to see Neytiri walking towards you. You waved to her while walking over to her. Your dream from last night flashed in your mind giving you pause. You quickly snapped out of it when she stopped in front of you
“Hey Neytiri, sorry I couldn't come yesterday” Neytiri had a small smile on her face and had her hands behind her back “It is fine, though it was boring without you” You cocked a smile on your face “Really, so what your saying is that you missed me” her cheeks burned at that notion “no, it's just your dumb antics are funny, and without it, it is dull”
You shook your head “Ahh, well glad to know I can be funny to you” Neytiri shifted her weight on her other leg, and you noticed she had her hand behind her back “Whatcha got there Neytiri?” her eyes widen before she hesitantly pulled her hands to her front. In her hands was a necklace
“I made this yesterday, it's made from amber I found near the river, figured you’d like it”. You took the necklace out of her hands and examined it. The necklace had teal thread. And a polished amber rod in the middle, it was beautiful. You looked at her with big eyes, and she looked back at you with expecting eyes “Neytiri-” she cut you off “If you don't like it I can just keep it” She reached for it but you held her back and held it in the air away from her
“WOAH hold your horses! I really like it, do you think you could put it on for me?” you laughed at her reaction, she was clearly nervous about you rejecting her gift. She stopped her attempts. you turned around and moved any hair out of the way. She tied a knot in the necklace and tapped your shoulder
“Too bad I don't have a mirror, But I bet I look good” You smiled down at her, and she gave you a small smile “We should go eat” She took your arm “I'm sure this body is hungry” and as if on cue, your stomach rumbled, you blushed a bit before being taken by her.
*
You two walked over to where the other people ate, your presence had become so common that the people no longer stared at you with disgust or fear, now they looked at you with indifference or just waved and smiled at you.
The two of you walked over to where you normally sat but Neytiri just kept walking, she looked back and nodded her head for you to follow her.
The more you walked the closer you got to where you'd be sitting, and wouldn't you know it, it was with her parents and Tsu’tey.
She sat down and looked at you, seeing you frozen in place. She rolled her eyes and yanked you down.
“Hello, Lynnsuil, trust that we won't bite '' her mother teased, clearing the tension “I might'' tsu'tey jokes, you giggled a little bit. You opened your wrap, it was just some vegetable that was cooked.
Her father was the next to say something “I see my daughter finally gave you that necklace to you” he eyed your neck well your new necklace to be specific. In the corner of your eye you could see Neytiri freeze, her father continued “She's been working on it for weeks now, yesterday she finished when she found the amber.” “Oh yeah, hehe, it's beautiful” You didn't know what to say really “She gets her craftiness from her mother” he smirked at Mo’at
You all sat in the circle talking and eating. Moat and Eytukan share embarrassing stories about Neytiri and Tsu’tey, both of them objecting whenever a new story was shared
“There was this one time Neytiri was running with her sister in the river, they were jumping from rock to rock, Neytiri challenged her sister to a race, and as soon as it started she slipped into the river” Both Eytukan and Mo’at laughed, Neytiri groaned and hid behind her hair. You laughed though, cause she constantly made fun of you or lecture you when you'd make mistakes.
Though one thing was clawing at the back of your mind, where was her sister? Grace mentioned that she had one but you never saw her. And she came up in storys
“Hey if you dont mind me asking, where is her sister? I haven't seen her since I got here, is she doing something outside of a home tree?” they all went silent, they stared at you, Tsu’tey stood up and stormed off. “She died at the hands of the sky people” was all Eytukan told you before he to stood up and left. Your eyes widened “Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't know” Mo’at put a hand on your shoulder “It is ok child, you didn't know, her death still plagues our hearts” You looked to Neytiri, she looked upset you could tell she was resisting the urge to cry “why dont you two go start your lessons for the day?”
*
The two of you walked. The only words Neytiri had spoken was that you two would hunt.
You want to say something, but comforting wasn't your strong suit, hell the way you and Jake comforted each other after toms funeral was getting drunk.
But you decided you should at least try, she was your friend after all. You put your hand on her shoulder, preventing her from walking. “Do you, uhh, want to talk about it?” her shoulders tensed before she turned her head to you. She had a debate in her head before she quietly nodded her head. The two of you sat on an exposed root,
It was silence before she started to talk “My sister was a kind woman, wise beyond her years” She had a faint smile when remembering her sister “It was her and Tsu’tey who would've led the clan after my parents, but she was taken by the sky people, murdered where she stood in graces school, for trying to fight against the sky people poisoning our waters” you remembered the bullet holes at graces school, your heart dropped for Neytiri. You grabbed her hand and squeezed it
You looked into her eyes, with words she thanked you. You understood her grief. Only three days before you left your brother was ripped out of your life
“You know how I mentioned my brother Jake and the stupid stuff we did? Well I have another older brother, his name was Tom” you started to tell her about tom, before this you spoke of him, it hurt to much
Lhe and Jake were twins but we're nothing alike” you joked “Jake was dumb as a rock but good at anything physical while Tom was the Brains, couldn’t run for the life of him”
You could feel tears sting your eyes but you continued “After our parents died, he took me in while Jake served, when we were accepted into the avatar program we were so happy, we trained together, studied together” Your grip on her hand tightened
“but he was murdered by a thief, all he wanted was his money” by this time tears slipped through your eyes. This was the first time you cried since your brother's death, the first time you cried for him
You felt Neytiri's hand leave you and move to your back “I'm sorry for your loss” you wiped the tears from your eyes, “yeah, I'm sorry for your sister as well, she sounded brave” you looked into her eyes, they were big and looked glossed over. She stood up and grabbed her bow “we must continue our hunt”
When you got up you noticed an imprint on the soil, you crouched down to notice and yerik tracks “hey i found some tracks, they seem fresh” you looked around a bit “they seem to lead this way” you pointed with your bow
*
It was started to rain by now, making reading the trails a bit difficult but you still manage to find a yerik grazing.
You crouched low to the ground, and drew you bow. It seemed to noticed you when it hissed at you and flared its frills at you to scare you off. You drew your bow back taking aim, you let your arrow go, it hit it dead center on its torso.
As it feel to the ground you both rushed to its side, you drew your knife and crouched next to the animal howling in pain.
“I See you, Brother, and thank you.” you started the prayer before finally ending its pain “Your spirit goes with Eywa, your body stays behind to become part of the People.” you sheathed your knife and took the arrow “a clean kill” you looked to Neytiri
“you are ready”

Part 2: Betrayal Is An Inherent Part Of Love

Tumblr media
[Name] took a deep breath, she was leaving her home. Her home, the forest, all she had ever known retreating behind her as she joined her family in the sky. She knew why they were leaving, she did, but that did not stop the stinging in her chest at the thought of leaving. Now that they were in the sky, it all became so real. The crisp air was a sharp reminder of the life she was leaving behind.
Blinking back tears, she was brought back to the time she spent in the forest as a kid. Her younger brother–Neteyam, only younger by a year–chasing her and Kiri as they struggled to run away. She almost smiled to herself, things were easier back then. There were few memories she had as a kid that lacked the heart wrenching feeling she had become accustomed to.
She hardly remembers it but she knew when Kiri and Neteyam were born, her parents were elated. Another child to share their love with, how exciting. Thats what [Name] thought as well, until they started to take up all of their time. That makes sense though, they were babies after all. But none of that seemed to change as time went on. Even as Neteyam and [Name] were being taught to hunt, Neteyam seemed to be favoured. Long hunts where [Name] would catch three fish and Neteyam one, were often ‘teaching moments’ for Jake and Neytiri.
They knew that Neteyam had do be hunter if he was to be the future Olo'eyktan, so they took special care in teaching him. Kiri, almost from the moment she opened her eyes, had an connection with Eywa. The girl was already a miracle, coming out of the body of Dr. Grace Augustine. But when all of the Ikrans around them started to protect her tiny baby body out of the blue one day when she was crying, they knew that she must be trained to be the next Tsahik.
All of this [Name] could forgive and forget, and she almost did, until Lo’ak was born. [Name] had an understanding that Kiri and Neteyam would always have most of their parents attention, so when Lo’ak was born, she was more than ready to give him the attention she didn’t get. But Lo’ak almost seemed to get more attention than the other three, even when he was no longer a baby. Lo’ak was always trying to “live up to his brother”, although his brother never kept him from the attention from his loved ones. When [Name] finally realized that Lo’ak was getting more attention despite ‘being the outcast’, that’s when that all too familiar feeling set in, she was never going to be the centre of attention.
[Name] was in no way bad at anything, not in the slightest. She had no problems picking up all of the things she was taught as a hunter. No, the problem came when she wasn’t the best at anything she did. Despite being taught the same things as Neteyam and Lo’ak, she never seemed to be anything other than average. She made most of her targets with almost exact accuracy, but, unlike her brothers, she wasn’t as fast or as precise. Her lack of struggle or brilliance with any of the skills she had meant a lack of praise or extra practice time with her parents, and thus less attention.
One might think that [Name] had jealousy for her sibling success, Kiri training to be the next Tsahik, despite that being [Name]’s natural role as the oldest daughter or even Neteyam’s future mate’s; and Lo’ak and Neteyam becoming better and better warriors with the help of their parents. But [Name] never was jealous, she could only find pride in herself when she watched her siblings succeed. She only wished to have a sliver of the attention.
So, [Name] became silent, never making a fuss as she was left to fade into the background of her family’s lives. While her sibling were off training with their parents, [Name] was left to practice her skills on her own. [Name] remembers getting better at making flower crowns, beading, using a bow and increasing her strength. But none of that ever mattered. Even when [Name] decided to make her family flower crowns, she couldn’t have been older than eight, they hardly bothered to thank her. Instead favouring the hammock, where they all snuggled close. [Name] tried every time to be in the middle, but no matter how hard she tried, she was always at the edge.
Things only seemed to look up when Tuk was born. Everyone was overjoyed when it was announced that Neytiri had given birth to another health baby girl. Tuk was unbelievably loving from the start, loving all of her siblings equally. [Name] was just happy that she could share her love with her bright-eyed sister. When Tuk was young, [Name] would often take Tuk into the forest to teach her how to make flower crowns. One day, they had come back with enough for the whole family. Everyone was delighted, praising Tuk for her work, even after Tuk told everyone that [Name] had taught her. Although it stung a little, she was happy for Tuk and was proud at her skills in flower weaving.
But as all good thing do, the time of Tuk and [Name]’s hanging out had seemed to come to an end. Kiri and Lo’ak were spending more and more time out in the forest with Spider and Tuk had decided that she didn’t want to miss it. [Name] couldn’t blame her, she never wanted to miss spending time with her family either. Once again, [Name] was left to train and explore on her own.
[Name] let out a sigh, it had only been a hour and she was already tired of flying. The air only grew cooler as they began flying above the great expanse of water that was the ocean of Pandora. Taking in a deep breath, [Name] tried to shake the thoughts of her childhood out of her head as they only exhausted her. As [Name] exhaled, her Ikran exhaled as well and she was reminded of the time [Name] and her brothers attacked the sky people’s train.
It had been a few weeks of coordinated attacks on the sky people’s supply shipments and Jake had allowed [Name], Lo’ak, and Neteyam to scout for them again. Jake was always worried about his children in an active war zone, but Jake knew that the only way to improve was experience. So scout they did. They were doing well, informing everyone of approaching ships and making sure everyone was safe, until Lo’ak decided he wanted more action.
Neteyam went after him, [Name] following close behind, both hoping to ensure their younger brother’s safety. Once they had landed, [Name] had found Lo’ak with a gun and Neteyam reminding him that their dad was going to kill them. [Name] tried to warn them of the incoming ship, grabbing Neteyam’s arm, pulling him just barely out of the way when a ship crashed. That didn’t shield them from the knock back though, the crash sending them sprawled on the ground. [Name] had guess her dad had seen them when he came running in to save them.
[Name] had watched as he checked Lo’ak’s body for injuries before yelling Neteyam’s name and searching for them. Once he had found him, throwing him on his back, Jake Sully made his way to his Ikran. She could hear Lo’ak’s voice alerting his dad that [Name] was by the crash as well, but it all became blurry as her ears began to ring and tears started to swell in her eyes. [Name] was already stumbling back to her Ikran when her father finally caught sight of her.
Apparently, Jake hadn’t seen her and thought she was still in the air, as she learned once they had gotten back, but that did nothing to undo the hurt that struck into [Name]’s heart.
Only a few days later did Spider, Lo’ak, Kiri, and Tuk go off into the forest again, this time with [Name]. Tuk had successfully convinced [Name] to come along although [Name] was wary. As they had jumped from branch to branch, wandering deeper into the beautiful rainforest, [Name] finally gave herself a moment to breathe. Tuk often got distracted by the wildlife, and [Name] couldn’t blame her, so she stuck by her when she got side tracked, following after her when Lo’ak would yell for them to catch up. It was times like these, when she would hang out with her family that she felt like an outsider. Sure, she knew and loved her family like no other, but she never really felt a part of the family, always left out of the conversation.
Looking back at it, [Name] could hardly remember the events that led up to her siblings, Spider, and her being held by their queues by dream walkers. It all seemed to go by so fast, similar to the pace of her heart. Then all of a sudden, she heard her mother’s calls and looking around she could tell that the others had heard them as well. It rest was a blur, a flurry of flashing lights from the guns, and bodies moving quickly. [Name] was held still, her attempts at biting the avatar holding her, futile. Only when Neteyam run out from behind a tree and shot the avatar behind her, was she free. She had ran to push Neteyam out of the way of gun shots when she was met with her father. They eventually made it out, but not without losing Spider.
[Name] understood Spider, and even as she sat atop her Ikran on their way to a new life, she had understood how he had felt as an outsider in the family. Spider may not have been a Sully, but he sure did get a lot more attention from them than [Name] did. The poor kid was now stuck with the sky people, who were doing Eywa knows what to him. [Name] could remember Kiri’s face when she found that Spider was taken. It hurt [Name] to see her sister so broken.
The entire ride had been silent, nobody spoke while they flew, a side from a few questions of how much longer from Tuk. [Name] had been so stuck in her thoughts that she hardly realized when the waters below them started to lighten. The waters of the ocean clans were beautiful, so full and bright. As they approached, Na’vi people of the ocean could be seen swimming in the reef, and tending to animals. [Name] took another deep breath, this time she was pleasantly surprised to find the air much warmer and less sharp. For the first time since learning they were leaving the forest, [Name] started to feel hopeful of their new life. Maybe here she could be happy.
The Ikrans started to slow as they descended, leaving [Name] to mentally prepare herself. When they landed, it became quickly apparent to the Sully family just how many people were surrounding them. [Name] tried to follow in her father’s footsteps, holding up her hands as if to show she was no harm. It was only after a tense conversation, that the Metkayina people decide that the leaders two children would teach the Sully kids.
It seemed from there that things started to look up for [Name]. It was scary at first, but after her and her siblings jumped in the water for the first time, it all seemed to come into focus for [Name]. The water was glowing and quiet, providing [Name] solace while she thought, something she thought she would never get. Under the water was calm and safe, somewhere that [Name] felt instantly at home in. Home had seemed to be a foreign concept to [Name] in the recent years, so she welcomed the strange but lovely feeling.
Over the next few weeks, [Name] improved her swimming and breathing tremendously. Despite almost being separated from the learning group her family was in, [Name]’s skill only increase. She heard what the Metkayina kids would say and watched how they would move, hoping to use this information to better her own skills. All of these worked and many of the Metkayina kids noticed this. An outsider learning their ways at the speed she did? That was something to speak about.
[Name]’s improvement of skill and thus overall attitude went unnoticed by the Sully family, although this time she did not have a reason why. The best answer she could come up with was that they were busy. But what were they busy with? Neteyam was no longer training to be the future Olo'eyktan nor Kiri as the Tsahik, so why were all of their attention still away from their oldest daughter and sibling? The sheer truth of the matter always seemed to bring tears to [Name] whenever the thought came to her mind.
So she stayed in the background, trying to throw herself into the ways of the Metkayina. And while she seemed to do much better than her siblings, it didn’t help her gain any attention. The only thing that staying in the background did was shield [Name] from most of Ao’nung’s teasing. That didn’t stop [Name] from seeing the teasing that Ao’nung berated her siblings with.
It was one sunny day on the shore of the Metkayina clan, Kiri was watching a place in the sand and [Name] stood not far from her by a tree. [Name] had been mildly worried about Kiri for the past few days, and how she had been treated by the kids of the ocean tribe. So, [Name] choose to stick by her that day, while Kiri laid alone on the beach. And it was a good thing she did because it wasn’t long when Ao’nung and his friends decided to pay her a visit. They had made their way over to her, laughing and calling her a freak. Kiri, being the sweet heart she is, didn’t understand what was happening at first, but quickly understood when they continued to call her names.
[Name] walked away from the tree she was leaning on, shouting at the boys to stop teasing her and leave her alone. Lo’ak joined her, not willing to let anyone pick on his sister. Lo’ak was about to fight them when Neteyam showed up with his future clan leader ways. [Name] almost rolled her eyes at his mediating, but ended up smiling when he seemed to resolve the conflict. She was always proud of Neteyam for his charm. But then of course Lo’ak wasn’t ready to let go and he turned around to punch Ao’nung after cleverly tricking him. One thing lead to another and Neteyam and Lo’ak were fighting the whole group as Kiri and [Name] fought to keep down their laughs.
It was only two days later that [Name] sat at that very same beach, enjoying the waves crash against the shore. The last few days, she had been hard at work, doing everything she could to be faster, hold her breath longer; be better. That’s all she had ever wanted. This day, [Name] decided she was going to take a break while the others did as well. [Name] let her self-take a deep breath, enjoying the air while it was in her lungs. She closed her eyes, enjoying the sun when all of a sudden her vision becomes dark as if a shadow had blocked her from the sun. Furrowing her eyebrows, she opened her eyes to find that Ao’nung and his friends surrounding her.
[Name] could only scuff, she could only imagine what they wanted with her. Standing up and beginning to walk away is when they began their teasing.
“Freak!”
“She has demon blood.”
“Not even real Na’vi.”
[Name] could only shake her head, it didn’t really matter, she just wanted to leave. But they blocked her exit, surrounding her completely.
“Where are your brothers? What they no here to save you?”
“They probably don’t even care about you, freak!”
[Name] only looked at the floor blankly. A few minutes went by and [Name] could tell that the group was waiting for something to happen or someone to pop out of nowhere and stop them. But when that never came, the smirks on their face seemed to drop like flys.
“You are probably right, they don’t really care about me,” [Name] spoke evenly. She knew this to be true, as much as she didn’t want to think about it. It had always been true.
The boys looked around at each other, still hoping that one of her brothers would walk out of nowhere and yell at them for messing with their sister. But as [Name] expected, still no one came.
Ao’nung shook his head incredulously, “That cannot be true, they tried to beat us up for Kiri.”
“And I bet they would do it again, but I am not Kiri,” [Name] sighed, her previously tense shoulders deflated in defeat.
“Why are they not here than?”
“Well, I have never really had the same amount of respect my siblings have had. Even being the oldest never seemed to reward me with much attention.”
“You are the oldest? Why were you not taught the ways of the Tsahik?”
“Oh you heard about that did you? I am still not sure. Kiri was always the best choice, but as the oldest, I still think I should have been taught as well.” [Name] looked down at the sand once again, she did not like to have such thoughts.
Another boy piped in, “You are always separate from them, why is that?”
[Name] sighed, her struggles with family were not easy to explain, especially not in front of a group of strangers known for teasing.
“I’ve always tried to be close with my family, but whether they know it or not, they seem to always push me away.”
All of the boys shook their heads, seemingly ashamed of this behaviour as if they could never.
“How long has that been going on?” Ao’nung asked, leaning forward as if he needed to know the answer.
“Pretty much since Neteyam and Kiri were born,” [Name] exhaled, biting her tongue. “Not that it really matters, I love my family so much it doesn’t even matter.”
All of the boys looked at each other once again, except this time a silent understanding passed between them and they nodded in unison.
Ao’nung began to speak again, this time he had no hint of teasing in his voice.
“We did not wish to tease you or make fun of you, we just wanted to get back at your brothers for roughing us up.”
“Yeah,” Another boy began. “We just wanted to get on their nerves, you were just collateral.”
“In all honesty, many of the Metkayina kids have noticed how hard you have been working to learn more and how amazing you are in the water,” Ao’nung explained in earnest.
Whoops of agreement sounded from around [Name], and the girl found herself smiling at the support.
“Wow… I didn’t know anyone noticed…” [Name] muttered.
“How could we not? A forest girl swimming better than many of our own? Thats unheard of!” Ao’nung beamed at the oldest Sully girl and [Name] bit her lip to stop her from giggling.
“That is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me, thank you so much.” [Name] smiled at the group with the most genuine smile she has had in a long time.
“While we are here,” One of the boys behind her started. “My sister has always wanted to meet you, I would love to introduce you to her.”
“Yeah my sister would love you!”
Many of the boys offered to introduce [Name] to members of their family that would love her. The thought had almost sent [Name] to tears as she beamed at the boys around her.
“You should hang out with us, you know, join our group," Ao’nung suggested, looking around for conformation.
“I don’t know, I wouldn’t want to intrude,” [Name] smiled sadly.
“Do you all want to be friends with [Name]?” Ao’nung asked loudly, looking around at the boys again.
When all they heard were whoops of approval, [Name]’s face was bright and her eyes glassy.
“You have no idea what this means to me, thank you guys so much.”
“Don’t sweat it, you are one of us now.”
And one of them she was. From that day on, [Name] was with Ao’nung and his friends all day every day. It was only a few days until the boys introduced [Name] to their sisters and other friends. And they loved her, playing games with her, challenge her to races, hunt beside her, and laughing with her. [Name] had been having the best time of her life. She would wake up early and go to bed late in order to make the most of her time.
She started to get close with the girls of the clan, being invited to braiding circles and gossip sessions. [Name] was finally getting the attention she never had, and she loved it. Although at times she would miss her family, having hardly any time spent with them, she knew that they didn’t notice her absence. Every time a thought of her family crossed her mind, one of the girls would help her remove it from mind. They had her back, and she sure as hell had theirs.
[Name] even bonded with a Tulkun, effectively reenforcing that she was Metkayina in all who knew her’s minds. Everyday became one of hope and happiness for [Name] and she could hardly remember he life in the forest. As much as she loved the forest, a place that she would always regard as home, she felt more at home with the Metkayina then anywhere else.
Apparently one Sully had taken notice of the absence of the oldest Sully sister, and Tuk was upset that nobody else noticed. The brushed her off at first, telling Tuk that [Name] was just doing her own thing as she did. But after a few months, Tuks nagging became more and more rational, leaving the family to think, where was [Name]?
[Name] was sat on the beach one day just before eclipse hanging out with Ao’nung when Lo’ak, Neteyam, and Kiri cornered them.
“Where have you been?” Lo’ak inquired, his fists tight and voice strained.
“Here,” Ao’nung laughed, watching as a slight smile grew on [Name]’s face.
“You know what we mean, where have you been the last few months, [Name]?” Neteyam stared at his older sister’s face as if searching for an answer.
“I didn’t think you would notice…” [Name] muttered to herself.
“What?” Kiri asked sadly.
“I have been with the Metkayina, with my friends,” [Name] put simply.
“But we are your friends [Name]! We are your family!” Lo’ak exclaimed.
The calm that once sat on [Name]’s face drained at Lo’ak’s words. Ao’nung chuckled breathlessly at Lo’ak, what was he saying.
“Some family you are. You just left her to be on her own and didn’t even notice when she was absent!” Ao’nung was furious at this point, having seen everything.
“What, that is not fair! We having been learning! We were busy learning your ways,” Neteyam explained.
“[Name] has been doing just fine, and she hadn’t ignored you at all until we stepped in.” Ao’nung stated.
“Step in my ass, she was probably bullied into being friends by you! No way she would choose you and your friends over us,” Lo’ak argued.
“Is that true, Lo’ak? Do you really think that I would chose people that have never chosen me over over them? I was not bullied, Lo’ak, I chose them,” [Name] explained, finally having enough.
“While you all were out doing whatever you were, I was left alone, never being allowed a spot in the family. Lo’ak, you always say you are the outcast, but you have no idea.” [Name] hardly understood what she was saying, all of the pent up feelings buried deep seeming to explode.
“You should have told us! We would have helped you!” Kiri spoke, trying to reason.
“No, Kiri! I couldn’t have! I was alone, left to fend for myself. You all were alway to busy and at the end of the day it didn’t ever matter what I did, it was never enough!” Tears were streaming down [Name]’s face at this point.
[Name] took several deep breaths as the Sully siblings reflected on their lives.
“Can you all just let me enjoy this?” [Name]’s voice was much softer now, more vulnerable. “I was happy, can’t you just let me be happy?”
[Name]’s words broke them, tears starting to swell in their eyes. Ao’nung wrapped his arm around [Name], whispering comforting words in her ear. Then from behind them, a whole group of Metkayina kids walk out from behind a rock and surround [Name] and Ao’nung.
“We really don’t appreciate how you have been treating our sister.”
“Yeah, you are kinda shit siblings, how can you forget your sister?”
“Don’t you know how kind she is?”
“Can’t you see how skilled she has become?”
“Why don’t you see her love for you guys despite how you have always treated her?”
Their words were like knifes in their hearts, far worse than Ao’nung had ever said to them. And as they started to retreat back to the village, all they could think about was how it all went wrong. How much had they witnessed and still missed. Looking back, not many of their memories included their older sister. As they approached their marui, their thoughts went to Tuk, who has loved [Name] the most. How was she going to respond? How was their mother or father? The day [Name] left them would always leave a scar in their hearts, how could she betray them?
Or really, how could they betray her?

You loved spending time outside in the forests of Pandora, soaking in everything you saw. You spent more time out of the lab than in it most days.
Spider even joined you at times, trailing behind you like a lost puppy. You probably knew the forest better than the boy, even with his frequent associations with the Sully children. You practically never left the beautiful scenery and spent too many hours exploring every little thing you could. So, he found it best to follow your lead whenever he tagged along on your journeys.
Norm liked to say that you were a lot like Grace Augustine in some ways. Always wanting to analyze and study every single plant you came into contact with. Always too caught up in admiring the beauty and wonder that Pandora provided. Of course you never met the woman but you saw plenty of her video recordings with Kiri and on your alone time. You could say that the two of you had similarities but none that were too significant.
You knew almost every inch of forestry on the moon-planet. Almost.
There was this one place that Spider had stumbled upon many years ago after running around with Lo’ak. It was his little hideout spot whenever he needed time to himself or wanted a break from things. He didn’t think about sharing it with anyone else until you mentioned how bored you were one night, complaining about how you practically seen every inch of the forest and that there was nothing else to see. You loved everything you saw on Pandora but missed the first time admiration one held whenever they saw something they had never seen before.
Spider wasn’t exactly sure if you had already scoped out his little getaway spot but nonetheless, he still wanted to share it with you.
“I don’t think you’ve been to this place though,” Spider speaks up one day, pulling your attention away from whatever you were studying underneath the microscope.
The teen also often offered his company to you whenever you were in the lab doing whatever scientists did. He liked spending time with you, even if you were too caught up in doing sciencey stuff that he had absolutely no clue about.
“What do you mean?” You asked, eyebrows furrowed together in confusion.
A shit eating grin stretched itself onto Spider’s lips. Good, he thought, she doesn’t know what I’m talking about.
“You said that you’ve seen every inch of the forest,” he replied, twirling a pipette in between his calloused fingers, “but, I’m sure you haven’t seen my hideout.”.
Curiosity sparkled in your eyes, back straightening in attention.
“What does it look like?” You asked, genuinely excited about the secret place Spider had kept from you for whoever knows how long.
Spider had you right where he wanted you. Like a prey in his web. There was no way that he was going to give you any details of what it looked like. Where’s the fun in that? He wanted to see the pure, genuine look of amazement on your face when you finally saw the place he was talking about.
“Nuh uh,” Spider tsked, poking your cheek with the pipette, “I am not falling for that. You’ll just have to wait and see tomorrow,” he finished, face inching closer to yours.
Your eyes rolled in annoyance, not pleased with Spider's answer. You at least wanted to know where the spot was or what some of its features looked like, it would help that anxious-excitement feeling that always crawled its way into your stomach whenever you discovered something new.
“Wherever you’re taking me better not be somewhere where I have to climb,” you retorted, slightly pushing back his head with your hand, him snorting in response.
“It’s not that bad. Besides,” he replies, “I can always carry you up there.”.
Spider was ridiculously strong for a human boy his age. The first time you realized it, your stomach twisted in knots. The two of you were play fighting in your early teens when the male managed to pin you down with just one arm, the other slithering in between your bodies as he tickled your stomach. It was in that brief moment that you realized how different and quickly Spider was changing, thanks to puberty.
Just the thought of Spider carrying you up to wherever he had in mind without even breaking a sweat made butterflies erupt in your stomach. You began to wonder how his toned arms would feel around your body or how his tense back would feel against your front as it flexed due to his climbing. (Your mouth began to water a little at the thought. Oh how you wished he would just pull you into his embrace and hold you so you could feel the flexing of his muscles as he did so.)
You quickly scoffed the thought away, shaking your head at the dirty blondes' response. He very obviously took pride in his strength and the fact that he could most definitely carry you anywhere without much difficulty.
“Sure you could, Spider,” you added, your eyes squinting a little at the boy in front of you, unplugging and turning off the microscope you were using.
Spider smirked at your response, tossing the pipette to the side as he saw that you were getting ready to clean up, signaling that you were done for the day and we’re going to head off to bed.
“Night, beautiful,” Spider whispered, ruffling your hair a bit before he turned and left the lab you were occupying.
“G’night,” you replied, pink dusting your cheeks in reaction to the nickname he gave you early on into your friendship.
He always called you that. Max had explained to him what the word meant when he overheard Jake call Neytiri that when he was only a child, wondering what it meant. Max told him that he should only ever mean it whenever he called someone it. So he did. You were the only one he called beautiful and probably would be the only one he ever called that and truly meant it.
“Tomorrow, three hours before eclipse,” Spider quickly added, heading peaking through the door of the lab, a smile on his face as he voiced the time he planned on taking you out.
You only hummed out in acknowledgment, shooing him away as you focused on your task of cleaning up your area of the lab.
You really couldn’t wait for tomorrow.
———
“Hurry up, you’re going to make us late,” Spider whined out, sprawled out on your freshly made bed, a ball of yarn in his hands as he tossed it up and down towards the ceiling.
You rolled your eyes at the boy, annoyed at his words. It wasn’t like there was someone else waiting for you at the spot he wanted to take you to.
“We are fine, Spider,” you scoffed out, finishing tying up your shoelaces together besides the teens head as your body was in a seated position. Your hand briefly reached out towards Spider’s knotted locs, messing with them a little before he turned his head to teasingly nip at you, teeth not making contact with your skin. You squealed in response, hurriedly pulling back your hand in order to avoid the boy's sharp teeth.
Spider barked out a laugh at your response, tossing the ball of yarn to the side, softly landing on the floor with a dull thud. Another thing he loved, messing with you. He took great joy in doing it and seeing your reaction.
“Yeah well, the faster you finish getting ready, the faster we’ll be at my spot,” he retorted, pushing himself up to a sitting position, a bored look on his face as he looked at you.
Spider had only been in your room for around fifteen minutes, barging in when you just finished braiding your hair yelling about how long you were taking and how by the time you were done, it’d be sunrise already. He was all ready to go and had been waiting for you for almost thirty minutes before coming into your room unannounced. He usually did, which caused you to throw whatever was closest to you at him, demanding him to get out. You got used to it over the years but still, you needed privacy and sometimes, you felt like you rarely had that around Spider due to his spontaneous barging into your room. You gained the ability to change out of and into your clothes incredibly fast, almost always narrowly missing flashing Spider.
“Okay, okay, I’m all ready,” you responded, hands going up in surrender as you stood up from your spot on the bed, dusting off the back of your thighs and the front of your shorts.
Spider groaned out in relief, hopping off the bed and grabbing your packed bag that was placed by the doorframe, throwing it over his shoulder before grabbing your hand and rushing you out in excitement.
“You’re gonna love it, I swear!”.
———
The both of you had arrived and climbed up to the place Spider had wanted to take you to in an hour and a half. The sun was just at eclipse when you arrived. Spider didn’t hesitate to crouch down a little so you could jump onto his back, legs and arms tightly around his neck and waist before he began the ascent up.
“We’re here,” Spider whispered, slightly out of breath from the exercise. He tapped your thigh twice, signaling that it was safe for you to let go.
The first thing you saw were vines. Lots of them. It covered almost every inch of solid rock, clinging across the surface until your eyes landed on a small opening, the vines dangling over it as the twine and its leaves cloaked the opening. No wonder you never knew of this place. Regardless of it being too high up for you alone to climb, it was very well hidden by the green vines.
It seemed like it was a cave, from what you could see. Peeking past some of the small openings in between the vines, you couldn’t see much light through the gaps. It seemed to be pretty dark and the only light that was getting through was the sunlight that managed to squeeze between the vines.
“You excited?” Spider asked, anxiety settling itself in his stomach. He wanted you to like his secret spot. It was special to him. He didn’t even tell Lo’ak about it and he tells the Na’vi boy practically everything.
“Very,” you replied back, eyes still glued on the intricate weaving of the vines. You tried to imagine what was behind the plant's structure, excitement setting in.
You liked finding new things but this felt different. More personal. Spider told his loved ones almost everything, so you were genuinely surprised when he brought up the fact that he had a secret hideout. And knowing that you were probably the only other person to see and know about this place made it even more special and personal.
“C’mon,” Spider whispered, taking your hand in his as he gently pulled you inside, pushing the vines to the side to make room for the both of you to get through.
It was dark at first, the numerous vines making a dull thud sound as they fell back into place once Spider let them go. But then, small blue dots of light appeared, scattered across the walls and ceiling of the cave, lighting up the space in its dim light. The longer you two walked, the more brighter it seemed to get. The biolomenscient dots got dimmer and dimmer the further you and Spider went, the warm glow of the sunset replacing it.
Another opening made its way into your line of sight, giving you the perfect view of the eclipse and more.
“Holy shit,” you whispered out, hand still grasping Spiders.
The sight before you was absolutely breathtaking. Ikran flew across the setting sun, shrieking in delight as they dipped and dived. The floating mountains were scattered across the sky, thick and large vines connecting them to each other so they didn't drift too far from another. The vibrant colors the setting sun emitted settled across the horizon and danced across the tops of the trees beneath the cliff you and Spider were currently standing on.
Spider smiled at your response, warmth spreading across his body as he came to the conclusion that you were enjoying the sight before you. He felt nervous before, not wanting you to not like where he was taking you. But now, he felt so happy. Happy that you were awestruck and couldn’t tear your eyes off of everything in front of you.
“Like it?” He asked, hand squeezing yours to catch your attention.
“Like it?” You replied, eyes still darting across the beautiful scenery in front of you, “I love it! How come you didn’t take me here earlier?” You pouted at the end.
The boy only chuckled in response. To be honest, he considered this place to be his. Like a little secret. He wasn’t planning on sharing it with anyone. But the more he thought about it and visited the small cave slash cliff hideout, the more he wondered what it’d be like to share this place with you. He was over the moon when you agreed to tag along last night. This was no longer going to be just his spot but the both of yours.
Spider slightly tugged on your hand, guiding you to follow his actions in sitting down, legs dangling over the cliffs edge.
“It’s so beautiful,” you commented, settling yourself next to Spider, hands still intertwined.
The human boy hummed in response, eyes never leaving the side of your face. The setting suns colorful rays reflected off the glass of your mask, highlighting your bright eyes as you continued to gawk at the gorgeous sight in front of you.
To Spider, your beauty could never compare to what was in front of him. He had seen this kind of sunset millions of times before but he always found himself thinking of you whenever he gazed at the eclipse and the colorful horizon. You were truly one of a kind. He always felt special whenever you graced him with your presence. His eyes never left your face whenever the two of you hung out, oftentimes running into things on accident which made me even more flustered once your laugh reached his ears. If he were in a Na’vi body, his tail would be swaying furiously back and forth like a dog excited to see their owner whenever his eyes settled on your figure. You always had a special place in his heart. Which makes this moment even more special.
“Hmm, just like you, beautiful,” he whispered back, nudging your shoulder with his.
A wide toothed smile made its way across your lips, a giggle escaping them as you shook your head at the boy. “Cheesy,” you replied, eyes finally tearing away from the sunset and settling on Spider.
Your breath hitched in your throat when you realized how close the two of you were. Your shoulders were touching and your clasped hands were in Spider's lap, his thumb rubbing the back of your hand. If it weren’t for the masks you had to wear, you most likely would be able to feel each other's breath. Just the thought gave you slight goosebumps.
“Sappy,” Spider agreed, laughing in response to your previous statement. He tended to be overly romantic whenever around you. Albeit he never outwardly voiced his thoughts, he still thought them. You only got a glimpse or two of that side of him, it only being during whenever the two of you were joking around or he was trying to bring your spirits up on a particularly hard day. It never failed to make you feel better or laugh in response.
Your eyes were stuck on Spider's face, glancing from his eyes, to his nose down to his lips, and then back up to his eyes. He was probably the prettiest human boy you’d ever seen, and the only one you’d seen.
“Want to know how I stumbled across this place?” He asked, cheeks reddening at your intense stare.
“Please,” you responded, shifting a bit to face more towards the boy, hands still tightly interlocked.
Spider brightly smiled before starting, glad to be finally sharing this, his place with you.
———
You had stayed out way past curfew, too caught up in the beauty of Pandora to realize just how late you and Spider stayed out.
He had you put yourself on his back again on the way down, your hands returning to grip his shoulders as your legs tightly wrapped around his waist. You found yourself thinking about his muscles and his strength again, making yourself blush at every thought. The fact that you were so tightly pressed up against him and could feel his back muscles twitch and flex as he climbed down didn’t help, at all.
But he too was blushing. There have only been a handful of times where the both of you were in a position like this, so close together. Most of them were when you were children and still needed the comfort of someone else to sleep, Norm often finding the two of you entangled together as you softly snored away in your deep slumber. The other time being when you had a tickle fight and he pinned both of your hands above your head and tortured you with his swift fingers against the sensitive skin of your stomach. Spider almost kissed you that day, if it weren’t for Max’s interruption, telling Spider that Lo’ak was there for him. And the other time being now. It had been so long since he had you this close. Of course you two hugged and had sleepovers whenever you were bored, but even then, you never had your body that close to his and vice versa. Spider could feel the beat of your rapid heart against his back, smirking at how fast it was pumping.
It was nice to have you this close to his body. Especially in this circumstance. He felt like he was protecting you, in a way at least. Spider knew that you didn’t have the type of training he did regarding exploring the expanse of Pandora’s forests. You mostly explored on your own and kept to the forest floor whereas Spider leapt from tree to tree with Lo’ak and climbed whatever he could. And regarding this fact, he knew that you wouldn’t be able to pull yourself up to climb all the way to where he wanted to take you as well as back down. So this was the least he could do. Have you cling to his back as he descended back down to the mossy ground.
The minute your feet touched the floor, you took off sprinting, shouting at Spider to race you back to the lab. Poor boy barely had any time to process it, standing there in shock for a few seconds before quickly following after you, catching up to your figure within minutes.
The boy beat you to the lab even with your head start.
“No fair!” You whined out, huffing and puffing from your sprinting. Damn, you thought to yourself, and to think Spider does this everyday.
“Hmm, sucks to suck I guess,” Spider teased, patting your head as you stood there with your hands on your knees trying to catch your breath. Your mask began to fog up from your ragged breathing.
You playfully slapped Spider’s hand away as you both walked up the stairs to the lab, the boy holding the door open for you as you walked through.
Once the door shut, a hissing sound reached your ears, signaling that the filter was forcing out the Pandora air and replacing it with the air you and the other humans needed to breathe. When the small light above the second door turned green, you quickly discarded your mask and pushed through the secondary door.
“That was so much fun!” You exclaimed, wide smile on your lips as you turned back towards Spider, watching him place both of your masks back onto the small rack they usually reside on.
Warmth spread throughout Spider’s chest at your exclamation, proud that he was able to make you this happy from simply sharing his hideout with you. “I’m glad you had fun,” he replied, a gummy smile spreading onto his lips.
“Thank you so much for taking me! I really enjoyed tonight,” you continued, same smile still plastered on your face.
You felt grateful that Spider wanted to share a place he had found and kept to himself for a while with you. It made you feel special. Really special. You wanted to do something for him that showed your gratefulness. But your mind kept drawing blanks the more you thought about it. It had to be a grand gesture that showed him just how much you appreciated tonight as well as him in general.
Silence settled itself between the two of you, it resting comfortably in the air. Seconds had passed from the last time you spoke, eyes darting around Spider’s painted striped skin, the paint fading from the days excursions. As your eyes settled back onto his face, you realized that he was staring at your lips.
A lightbulb went off in your head. Yes, a kiss would work.
“I am very grateful that you decided to share your hideout with me. I feel honored,” you began, taking a step closer to the boy in front of you, “Is there anything I could do to show my appreciation?”.
Spider gulped at your question, one thing coming to mind. But, the boy only shook his head and shrugged. “It’s alright. I’m just happy to have spent tonight with you,” he replied.
Sappy motherfucker, you laughed to yourself, feeling yourself melt at how sweet Spider was being. You knew that he’d never force you to do anything that you didn’t want to do. Another thing that you loved about him. (Right after his face and muscles, of course.)
You hummed in response, inching closer as you did so. You could practically hear how fast Spider’s heart was beating against his chest, making you slightly smile at how you might be the cause of it.
“I think I have something in mind,” you trailed, straining your neck a bit to look up at the boy as you finally stood chest to chest. A few strands of Spider’s locs fell in front of his face and dangled besides yours, hand going out to tuck it behind one of his ears. The boys knees almost gave out at the movement, stomach twisting in knots and skin beginning to tingle from your gentle graze.
“And w-what could that b-be?” He stuttered, dark blush covering his cheeks. He felt his heart beat even faster as the seconds ticked by, if that was possible.
You smiled up at Spider, right hand coming to gently take his left one. “A kiss, perhaps?” You asked, not expecting him to agree right away.
“You…you w-want to…to k-kiss me?” He shakingly asked, the hand in yours intertwining his fingers between yours. He couldn’t believe that this was actually happening. That you suggested that you both kiss. He’s dreamt of kissing you ever since he saw the couple down his hall kiss when he was younger, Max yet again had to explain the action to him. Ever since he knew that he liked you. Since he knew that you’d be the only one for him as long as he breathed.
You nodded at his question, eyes falling from his eyes to his lips and back to his eyes. You also dreamt of kissing the boy. You wanted to ever since you saw an Earth movie from the twenty-first century where the two protagonists were lovers. You wanted to experience everything that the two lovers in the movies experienced with Spider. It was something you often caught yourself daydreaming about when you had nothing else better to do.
At your confirmation, Spider gently and delicately cupped your face in his warm and bigger hands, bringing you closer to his lips. There was a sliver of space between your lips and his, the teen boy waiting for something. Spider’s eyes searched yours for hesitancy and when he saw none and received another nod of your head, he pressed his plump lips against yours.
Your left hand went up to his waist to steady yourself, knees nearly giving out on the spot as your brain realized that this was actually happening.
Warmth was the only thing you felt from the kiss as well as adoration and care. You thought the whole fireworks thing was a bit silly whenever a character in a movie talked about it. But this, this was so much better than fireworks. You could feel how much Spider loved and cared for you through a single kiss. Could feel how nervous you made him through his shaky hands and rapid heartbeat. It was much better than fireworks. You felt loved and cared for through your shared kiss. You only hoped that Spider could feel the same things you did from the kiss as well.
The two of you stood there for who knows how long, kissing and pecking each others lips. You only broke away from the kiss two times to inhale more oxygen before you passed out. Spider meanwhile kissed all over your face as you did so, placing gentle kisses against your cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin before slotting his lips against yours again once you filled your lungs with sweet oxygen.
A loud cough erupted from behind you, halting the both of you in your kiss. Fear and anxiety spikes through your system, eyes widening as you slowly turned around to see who caught you and Spider kissing face.
“I don’t want to know,” Max started, arms crossed against his chest as a sleepy expression painted his face, “Just, get to bed. Separately. And if anyone asks, I saw nothing, okay?”.
You swear you never ran to your room so fast in your life, giggling out into the quiet corridors of the lab with Spider trailing behind you. Yeah, sorry Max, but there was no way that either of you were going to bed in your respective rooms tonight. There was too much to talk about and catch up on.

“What do you mean pregnant?” Jake questioned looking absolutely bewildered.
Next to you, Norm cleared his throat, “While we were doing our rounds here, Dr. Reeds discovered it. We ran some tests and turns out it’s true. Grace’s avatar is pregnant.”
Jake frowned, “I’m sorry, that still doesn’t explain how she got like this.”
You shrugged, not looking up from your tablet, “Well, apparently when two avatars love each other very much—”
“We don’t know.” Norm instead answered, sending you a glare, to which you ignored.
After your rather strange discovery, Norm got in touch with Jake and an hour later the rest of the scientists were cleared out of the room. And in replacement, three tall ass Na’vi crowded around Augustine’s avatar tank while you and Norm—still in human form—stood on the other side of the tank, staring straight at the glass while Jake, Neytiri, and Tsu’tey looked over it.
Their reactions were as expected. Jake confused. Neytiri wary yet curious. And Tsu’tey with his usual scowl—you were seriously beginning to think it was just the way his face was set—but with a hint of apprehension.
“She’s two months along or more, I’m honestly surprised we hadn’t noticed it until now.” Norm frowned, looking at the small stomach. The avatar wasn’t showing yet, perhaps because of how thin they all naturally were—but upon further inspection, the small two-month-old bump was quite noticeable.
“So, it just appeared? No explanation?” Jake questioned, also frowning down at the avatar. “How is that even possible?”
Again, you shrugged and finally looked up from your tablet. “Well, that depends,” Frankly, you didn’t want to be here. Being practically stuck in the same room with two people who both pissed you off and had you on guard constantly. Like they were going to attack you at any second—perhaps throw more baseless accusations your way. It would often leave you exhausted afterward. “What exactly was Dr. Augustine doing before her avatar ended up unresponsive? Any secret relationships? Did you ever find her sneaking out—possibly to meet someone in secret?”
Jake was the one who responded, unfortunately. “We shared a station together for three months. She never left that place or met with anyone.”
Norm nodded in agreement while Neytiri placed her hand on the tank glass, “In her last moments we tried moving her spirit through Eywa and into her false body. But she was very weak…Could she have been with child then?”
“Had to be. She couldn’t have been pregnant after—after she passed.” Norm crossed his arms—almost like he was hugging himself.
Well, that wasn’t much to go on but you didn’t say it out loud since the very sight of this woman’s avatar—or at least talking about her clearly made the four of them react.
You had no personal connection to the late Dr. Grace Augustine, she was your role model of course but that was about it. You’ve never met her, therefore you were the only one with an unbiased perspective.
Their reactions were different but the same in some ways.
Norm hid it by pushing forward and moving the conversation along. Neytiri doesn’t hide her emotion when talking about Dr. Augustine. Her face was gentle and grief-stricken. You wondered if Neteyam, who was snuggly strapped to her chest, felt his mother’s strong emotions.
Jake wore a mask of sorts but you could still see the traits. Low ears, tail tucked behind his leg, avoidant gaze—it was then you realized how easy it was to read Na’vi’s expressions. You wondered if reading humans was difficult for them, except for Jake. Na’vi just had a more expressive face. Unless they were experienced at hiding it well.
Like Tsu’tey. The clan leader looked distant and was the quietest out of the four.
You supposed that Grace seemed to be the one thing that bonded the four. Especially Jake, Neytiri, and Tsu’tey. They had each other to lean on, you could tell by how unconsciously they neared each other.
But you and Norm? Maybe you could lean on each other but it wasn’t necessarily the same.
You lost your mother. Who could you lean on?
It must’ve been nice.
You knew you had been staring too long when Tsu’tey’s eyes locked with yours.
As subtly as you could, you looked away to tune in back to what Norm was saying, “So obvious questions aside, what should we do?”
“That’s not an obvious question?” You frowned, earning a jab in your side from him.
The three were quiet as they glanced at each other—or rather they were having a silent conversation with each other. You could tell by the way Jake raised his brows in question. Neytiri’s meaningful look. And Tsu’tey’s narrowed eyes.
You tucked the tablet under your arm and cleared your throat, drawing their attention to you, “While you guys decide who should take care of it, the avatar would have to stay here. The baby—if there is truly one in there—would have to be born here.”
Norm nodded in agreement, “Grace’s avatar will be under Dr. Reeds’ care since she is the one who identified the fetus—"
“No.” Tsu’tey instantly scowled.
“Told you,” Norm mumbled next to you.
You rolled your eyes, briefly locking eyes with Neytiri who watched the two of you with a small frown. There was a flash of something that floated passed her eyes, something you didn’t have time to make out right now.
“The Sky People know nothing about caring for a child of our people.” Tsu’tey scowled. “None of them do! I will not trust the child—or sa’nok’s body in the hands of—”
“—Demon. Yeah, you’ve made that clear.” You cut in calmly, earning a warning look from Norm and a vicious glare from the clan leader. You ignored both, “The facts don’t change. The body cannot be moved. The avatar is essentially dead—this tank is its life support, therefore the baby’s life support. So, if we keep the avatar and the baby here—"
“You do not get to decide this—”
Now you were irritated. You tried. You really did. “Then deal with a dead fucking baby for all I care—”
“Reeds.” Norm frowned.
“Tsu’tey!” Neytiri hissed, giving the man’s arm a slight shove.
The only person who appeared calm was Jake—which wasn’t surprising. He was looking at you, not with malice or accusation, but with contemplation. “If we keep the baby here…?”
You pressed your lips into a thin line and let out a short, agitated breath. “Since the avatar is basically dead, it can’t push the baby out the usual way when the time comes to it. We’d have to perform a C-section to get it out.” Tsu’tey opened his mouth to protest but you quickly beat him to it, “Once the baby is born, it’s yours. I nor the rest of us have an interest in keeping it here. It would be illogical. Are rations are terrible already—we don’t have the resources to take care of a baby. So you won’t have to worry about it being raised by demons.”
In the last part, you directed your pointed look toward Tsu’tey was still glaring at you. A part of you was smug, the fear and hesitation around him slowly going away.
You really didn’t care much for what he thought about you and you made sure he knew it. Of course, being this reckless with your mouth wasn’t the smartest idea and he probably didn’t appreciate it—but perhaps that was the best part about it.
He hissed something in Na’vi at you, which he knew you wouldn’t understand. The one thing he had over you. And with his own carefully crafted smugness, he knew this too. You rolled your eyes.
Neytiri snapped at him in response which seemed to surprise both Tsu’tey and Jake. You glanced toward Norm with a questioning look. He leaned toward your ear and mumbled, “Essentially, Neytiri’s okay with you watching over Grace’s avatar.” You both watched Tsu’tey reply with the same amount of ferocity. “And Tsu’tey’s pissed that she’s siding with you.”
You hummed but didn’t respond. Neytiri agreed with the plan, this also surprised you but you refused to allow the others to see that. Instead, you’d hold your chin high and bathe in your victory of having at least one of them agree with you for once.
It was nice that Neytiri was defending your idea. At least someone in this room was sane enough to.
Jake, who had been silent up to this point, suddenly cut into Neytiri and Tsu’tey’s argument, which caused the both of them to turn to him. He said something to them in a lowered voice and before you could ask Norm what he was saying, Neytiri and a begrudged Tsu’tey suddenly left the room.
You watched their retreating figures with quiet curiosity, until Jake spoke again in English, “Norm, can Reeds and I have the room?”
Now you were frowning. Hell, you were sure you looked like Tsu’tey then. Norm gave you a pleading look, one that said, ‘Just talk to him’.
And it took a lot. Every bit of strength to restrain yourself from snapping at Norm and telling him it was a bad idea to leave the both of you alone.
But instead, you ended up holding back a groan in your throat. You wouldn’t let him see you snap like that. You wouldn’t break your resolve so easily around him again.
Eventually, you nodded stiffly, “Go ahead. We’ll be quick.”
After a nod and a pat on your shoulder, Norm left you and Jake alone.
The last time the two of you had been alone was when you set your mother’s lab on fire. You wondered if this was his chance to find fault in you again. To throw more accusations your way.
Jake watched you. And you watched him.
Stubbornly, you weren’t going to speak first. After all, he was the one who wanted to talk to you alone.
After another few seconds of you sizing each other up, he finally spoke, “Why the sudden interest in looking after Grace’s child, huh? What’s in it for you?”
You raised a brow, “Do you want some kind of sinister motive?”
He frowned at your very sardonic response, “No. Just the truth, if that isn’t too much.”
“The idea of truth seems subjective here.” You argued dryly. “No matter what I say, somehow I’m still made into this heartless demon you all have painted in your image. Don’t be surprised when I start acting like it at some point.” The latter was a dark joke of your own. But you failed to make that known to him.
Jake glared, leaning on the tank. The glass was impenetrable, it wouldn’t break under his weight. But it would leave unnecessary hand prints for someone to clean later. “Christ, can we just be straight with each other? You said yourself you had no interest in raising it. So why willingly volunteer to watch it?”
Despite your dislike for being alone with him—or him in general—you expected this question. It was an easy answer to which you had no problem responding to. Whatever it took to get this interaction done and over with as quickly as possible.
So, you gave a simple shrug, “The avatar got pregnant without having any intercourse. And I’ve checked. The development is impossible but remarkable. I want to study it closely, to learn how it happened and how it will continue to develop over time. Hell, we’re not even sure if this is an actual baby inside. Could be something else. We won’t know until it’s out.”
The answer didn’t seem to satisfy him. You could tell by the way his ears remained pinned at the side of his head, “So that’s what all of this is to you? A science project?”
“I’m a scientist.” You said plainly as if the answer was obvious. “Plus, it gives me something to do here. I have to make up the time I’ve lost.”
Jake frowned as if waiting for more. You did not offer more.
“And you think you are capable of doing it?” It was your turn to frown. That was a question you weren’t exactly prepared for. More or less that was the last thing you expected him to ask. “Are you really equipped to take on something like this? Especially now?”
You glared now, “Are you questioning my credentials?”
“No, I have no doubt that you’re good in your field—”
“Excellent. I am excellent in my field.”
“—Your actions are unpredictable—”
“Ah, so you’re questioning my stability.” Your skin boiled with barely hidden rage. You wouldn’t let him see you snap like that. You wouldn’t break your resolve so easily around him again. “Afraid I’ll blow up another lab?”
Jake scowled, “That’s not funny.”
“It wasn’t a joke.”
It was a standoff. The two of you. Jake’s gaze was intense and yours severe. His jaw tightened and he shook his head with a humorless snicker, “You're impossible.”
“And you have no right to question whether or not I am in stable condition for a job I am qualified for.” You snapped back, your resolve barely holding by a thread. “So, is this what you wanted to talk to me about? Is that why you wanted to see me alone so that you could ridicule me without eyes watching? Do you think you’re a better man for that, Sully? Why don’t you just be straight with me, like you wanted? Stop fucking beating around the bush!”
“Yeah?” He challenged with a mocking chuckle. “You want me to be straight with you? Fine. Tsu’tey doesn’t trust you with Grace’s avatar—”
You scoffed, “Clearly!”
“—and I don’t either.”
With a shrug, you placed your tablet down, “Frankly, Sully, I have no interest in earning your trust. I’m here to do my job. That’s all. A job I have no choice in doing since I am stuck here on your planet. Trust has nothing to do with it.”
He looked resigned, guarding his face once more. The silence was all too consuming.
Jake didn’t want this. He was supposed to be making peace with you. At least attempt to be cordial with one another.
But you were impossible. You were difficult.
You saw no point to this conversation. Never did from the beginning. Why he wanted to talk to you in private only to rehash what’s already been said. What’s already been known. You didn’t understand what he was trying to do here. There was nothing else they could possibly talk about past the subject of the mysterious fetus. You did not want to be here.
He was impossible. He was difficult.
Jake straightened his back—a small inkling in the back of your mind wondered if that was the Marine in him. Standing to attention, as if addressing someone with power well above him. Or his enemy. You really couldn’t tell with them. “So where does that leave us?”
“It’s really simple, actually.” You crossed your arms. “The body can’t be moved. The avatar stays here. And so does the growing fetus. You clearly want it so it will be all yours when it’s born. Far away from my destructive hands. Does that work for you?”
After a long—unnecessary bout of silence—Jake finally pushed away from the tank, “Norm will be with you?”
You glared and clenched your jaw, “If that will get you to leave quicker, then yes.”
His tail lashed behind him, “Fine. Do what you want.”
Finally, he left. And you were alone.
After a moment of silence. After a moment of gathering yourself with a bit of pride left , you moved closer toward Dr. Augustine’s tank and frowned down at the growing stomach, “Good luck, kid. If you’re not careful, he just might end up as your father.”
Tumblr media
The following days continued as usual, except after you were done with your garden, you headed over to the tank room to check on the fetus. You did things like making sure it’s kept healthy and or safely growing in the womb. Surprisingly, it was just as peaceful as tending to your garden. Sometimes a few scientists would pop in every now and then to check on other tanks, but most times it was just you and Dr. Augustine’s avatar. And it wasn’t entirely so bad being in almost total silence for the first time in a while.
Neytiri would come to the gardens whenever she could. Either keeping you company while giving advice and directions about how to better your crops. Or gently scolding you about how loud you continue to be while trekking through the forest.
Today, you were doing the latter. It was something different, a little change in your usual routine. You now carried your tablet in a bag in case any alert from Dr. Augustine’s avatar notified you as you followed Neytiri through the forest. Mimicking her every movement like you had done last time.
“You move with the forest. You listen. You see.” Neytiri jumped over a branch as you finally finished the climb up the tree the both of you were on. A part of you was envious of her ability to climb with ease while your cheeks only flushed with both being out of breath and embarrassed as she watched you try and fail to climb this godforsaken tree.
“Okay,” You nodded as you settled on the branch with her. It was uncomfortable, especially squatting the way she was. “What exactly am I supposed to be seeing?”
Neytiri frowned, “I cannot make you see. Only you can.”
You looked down at your now bare feet, not really sure how to respond to that or what it really meant. And you had a feeling that if you asked again, she’d probably scold you for it and further confuse you. So instead you looked up at some of the leaves above you. You raised your hand and let your fingers gently graze it, so very gently as if it would crumble beneath your touch.
The forest was overwhelmingly beautiful. Every day it was like you were looking at it for the first time. The healthy trees and plants. The wildlife that you avoided but watched from afar. Hearing the quiet streams of water running about in whichever direction you turned.
Somedays it reminded you of what you lost back on Earth. What the world had done to it. And how many, many years ago it had once looked as beautiful as this.
On other days, you appreciated the forest. For its food, for its beauty. Sometimes you liked the idea of calling this place your new home even though you weren’t quite sure what the exact word ‘home’ meant to you right now.
While caught up in your misty thoughts, you missed the way Neytiri watched you quietly. How she noticed your hidden wonder. The way your lips almost curve up until it’s back in that firm straight line again. Or how your face became gentle even for the slightest second before it’s gone as quickly as it had come. Like you were consciously keeping yourself from being content.
It was intriguing, watching how Sky People worked. Though of course, Neytiri would never admit this out loud.
But most of all, it was intriguing—almost alluring—watching how you worked.
Eventually, she caught sight of your mother’s songcord still wrapped around your wrist with a small frown.
Your slow methodic thoughts were soon interrupted when Neytiri grasped the wrist with your mother’s songcord around it. Instantly you tensed as she brought your wrist closer for her to see. But once you realize she made no sudden moves to take the cord from you, you relax. Only slightly.
She thumbed one of the beads, “When you die, your family sings your songcord to remember your life. And then it is given back to you.” Neytiri looked at you then, curiously. “You do not know your mother’s songcord.”
It wasn’t a question but more a knowing statement. Carefully, you took your wrist back from hers and held it close to your chest, “Obviously, I didn’t get much of a chance to.”
She nodded but didn’t push on the subject. Instead, she stood up on the branch just as something shuffled below the both of you.
Neytiri grabbed your arm and pulled you to your feet, “Come, come!”
Shed led you through the trees. It was especially difficult to keep up going from branch to branch and copying her movements to the best of your ability. At some points, you nearly slipped only to be quickly caught by Neytiri and forced to keep going. You both admired and envied her ease in prowess.
At some point, you both landed in a tree that gave you both a good view of the forest floor. There, was a creature slinking around the thick bushes. Neytiri crouched on the branch to watch the creature just as another came out into the light.
“Nantang.” She pointed at the creature below. “You Sky People call them viperwolf.”
“Nantung.” You repeated slowly, crouching down next to her.
“Nantang.” She corrected.
“Nantang.”
With a small nod, she gave your forehead a little shove with an open palm hand, “You are not good with our language.”
But she didn’t seem annoyed when she said this. Instead, she looked rather amused with the way her ears were raised high and her tail swinging behind her.
Below you, the viperwolves began moving away from the trees and further within the bushes. You watched them curiously, moving Neytiri’s hand from your forehead, “Are they dangerous? The—Nantang?”
“Most are.” Neytiri frowned, dropping her hand to her side. She then stood. “We leave them be. We do not kill unless—unless we have no choice.”
“Hmm, so no hunting them then?” You watched her thoughtfully. “So are you guys vegetarians?” She stared at you blankly. You pressed your lips into a thin line and reconsidered your words, “Do you not eat any meat?”
Understanding crossed her features as she nodded, “We do. Just not them.”
You nodded, crossing your legs together on the branch you were sitting on as you thought about this. After another pause, you took out your tablet from your bag to take down some notes—only for Neytiri to smack your arm and scowl, “No. None of that! We move.”
“Alright, alright.” You sighed, placing your tablet back into your bag. “But if I slip again, just let me fall. I deserve it for being so unathletic.”
Neytiri rolled her eyes and pushed forward. Reluctantly, you followed her.
Tumblr media
At some point, you stopped wearing shoes in your avatar body.
Tumblr media
After unlinking for the day, you headed over toward the tank room, only to find a certain Na’vi already there talking to Norm. Both noticed you and stopped whatever conversation they had upon seeing you enter.
“Ah, Reeds!” Norm cleared his throat as you approached Dr. Augustine’s avatar. “We were just finishing up here. We’ll be out of your way soon.”
You shrugged, tucking your tablet under your arm as you studied the controls of the avatar’s tank. “It’s not like you’re not allowed in this room. All I do is make sure the baby is healthy and leave. Doesn’t really take that long.” Eventually, you allowed yourself to acknowledge the Na’vi curtly. “Sully.”
“Dr. Reeds.” Jake nodded back with a tight, awkward smile.
“There haven’t been any big updates if that’s what you’re here for.” You said while staring at the avatar. It twitched every now and then as usual.
“We were just catching up.” Norm explained with a faint smile sent your way. “How’s the garden holding up?”
You shrugged, keeping your focus glued to your work, “Everything’s growing just fine. In a few weeks, we might be ready for harvesting. It’s actually fascinating how fast everything’s growing.” If you were in your avatar body, your tail would be wiggling from side to side at this revelation despite your monotone voice. “Neytiri’s been a big help too—the Na’vi way is a lot more effective compared to human techniques and efficiency. I’m actually starting to wonder what else I could learn from her…”’
It wasn’t intentional, but you were really beginning to become intrigued by the Na’vi and their culture. If you were going to be on Pandora—for what seemed like a long time—then you’d have to get accustomed to their ways at some point. Especially, when you didn’t have any particular interest in causing problems with them by doing everything wrong and very human-like. Attempting to do it their way was the only way to go and the easiest path so far.
Norm was grinning at you and you frowned, “What?”
“Nothing. I’ll leave you to it.” He then turned to Jake. “You stayin’ longer?”
Right, you had forgotten about him for a second. Briefly, with little interest, you glanced toward Jake who gave a short nod, “Yeah, I’ll stay for a little bit.” He then met your gaze, matching your guarded expression. “If that’s not a problem”
Norm watched the two of you, noticing the tension.
You stiffened. What the hell was this guy’s problem? Did he enjoy fighting with you, what was it? There was nothing stopping him from waiting until you were done so that he could have the room alone. But for some reason, he thought staying with you there was a good idea.
He must’ve been some kind of masochist. Yeah, had to be.
That, or he was keeping a close eye on you. After all, he did say that he didn’t trust you. Wouldn’t be a totally impossible thought.
So instead, you answered his question with one of your own, “Is it a problem for you?”
His tail swished behind him, “No. Not at all.”
He watched you. And you watched him.
You sniffed and returned your focus back on the avatar, “S’like I said. I won’t be long.”
Cautiously, Norm spoke, “I’ll leave the both of you to it then, yeah?” He walked passed to you, not before mumbling, “Play nice,” and he departed, leaving just you and Jake in the tank room.
The room was deathly quiet as you worked. You figured since Jake was going to be here watching over your every move, you’d ignore him and just do the work. Quick enough for you to leave and be out of his presence. That was all that mattered at the moment.
There was just nothing more to talk about with him. Besides the fetus, you couldn’t fathom what else there was to be discussed.
So far, you were actually doing a good job pretending he wasn’t there. Sure, he was a ten-foot-tall alien that practically towered over you and made you freeze every time something in the corner of your eye moved—it was him every time—the work in front of you was distracting enough. And so was observing the mysteriously pregnant and obviously brain-dead avatar.
It was weird, no, fascinating. How an avatar would end up pregnant without the user actively using it was beyond you. It was like one of those unsolved patient stories or records back on Earth. Only this time you didn’t have to worry much about necrophilia. At least you hoped you didn’t. You put that in your notes.
“I’m sorry about your mother.”
Despite your stubbornness, you froze. Unsure if what you heard was real or perhaps that you imagined it. A part of you hoped you imagined it. A part of you hoped that you had just gone crazy. Yes, that should’ve explained it. Some childish part of you just wanted someone to pity you for once. To say these words to you. And so you imagined them to cope. You imagined someone would for once see you passed the Dr. Reeds. Human. Demon.
It was only your imagination—
“And I’m sorry for how I acted before.” Jake continued on the other side of the tank. Your grip on your tablet tightened as you listened to him. He paused for a long moment as if carefully considering his words. “You’re in a difficult position and I didn’t make it easy on you. That’s on me.”
So much for ignoring him.
You forced yourself to look up at him, a frown on your lips, “What do you hope to gain from this? Why apologize now?”
He winced but didn’t back down. His resolve was much more brazen unlike yours which was still barely hanging on by a thread. Unlike you, he wasn’t exhausted keeping it up all the time. “A truce. Especially, since I will be visiting often.”
Now you were more annoyed than confused, “Why do you need to keep visiting? I already said there haven’t been any updates. Plus, Norm would be telling you whether or not you’re needed here—”
Jake shrugged, ears twitching, “Well if I’m hoping to be her father, I gotta see her progress for myself, don’t I?”
You stopped and watched him both warily and—maybe intrigued by this new piece of information. It wasn’t shocking, really. You kind of figured he would end up taking responsibility for this child. And you had no doubt Neytiri and—possibly Tsu’tey agreed to this considering how much all three of them seemed to care for Dr. Augustine. It wasn’t at all surprising that they decided to raise the child as if it were their own.
“And you’re willing to endure interactions with me for this child?” You chuckled humorlessly. “How brave of you.”
But Jake shook his head, “No, it’s not just about the baby. We have to work together on this. All this hostility—it has to end right here right now. We don’t have to like each other—but I will admit I wasn’t fair to you and I let the situation—your whole arrival get to me. A rookie mistake on my part. I thought—I was protecting my clan.”
For a moment you really considered him. Considered his words. Considered all of him. All of what you knew of Jake Sully so far.
And then you remember Norm’s words to you all those nights ago. When you were going to meet the Tsahik. You remember him saying that they were scared when you had arrived and you remembered understanding that. In the midst of your anger, you understood why they acted the way they did. Still to this day, a part of you knew they were justified in their hatred for the Sky People. Hell, you faced DeVoe and developed a certain dislike toward those people as well.
But it was still your anger. You would not take the blame for something that was out of your control. Something you had no part in. You would not apologize for being put in unfortunate circumstances.
Surprisingly, Jake seemed to read your mind as he said, “I’m not asking anything from you in return. Just a truce and an apology. You deserve that, at least.”
You pressed your lips into a thin line, clutching your tablet close to your chest, avoiding his gaze, his expectant look that waited for you to respond. Right now you really wished you were in your avatar body because you hated him looking down at you. You hated being small around him.
But your steeled spine made up for it at least. “We don’t have to like each other.”
Jake nodded, “We don’t.”
You sniffed, “Good. Because I don’t particularly like you still.”
“Yeah,” He sighed, massaging his face. “Sometimes I don’t either.”

Neytiri didn’t come the next day. Which wasn’t out of the ordinary. Some days she just didn’t come. She had a baby and a clan to worry about after all. You couldn’t exactly expect her to put all of that on hold for you and your little garden.
Plus, there wasn’t much to check in the garden anyway today. All you had to do was water it and make sure the sun was shining on the correct plants. So, you spent most of your time foraging in the forest—making less noise like Neytiri showed you—gathering new fruits and mushrooms to plant once your other ones were finished growing. Of course, you’ll already have the seeds from the newly grown plants but it was nice to have a few extras just in case.
When you finished your foraging and stored all the fruits and mushrooms in a safe place, you unlinked from your avatar and went to the tank room. Technically, you weren’t really required to check it every day once you got a better understanding of the tank. It was specifically created to hold a growing avatar, sure, but you didn’t know if that stretched to a pregnant avatar or not. So checking on it every day was an extra precaution.
You weren’t exactly well informed about how the whole avatar creation or technology worked. All you knew was the information that was given to you through your mother’s diary videos. Even then she really didn’t go into too much detail about it as she kept jumping from one point to another with haste and excitement.
So, during your visits to the tank room, you took notes. By now you are almost halfway through your journal the more you write. And it wasn’t even organized, just a bunch of random notes and thoughts on a piece of paper. With writing that looked like chicken scratch.
When you had nothing more to write or look at on the tablet, you examined what would be Dr. Augustine’s face on the avatar.
Norm came in at some point and you asked him, “What was she like? Dr. Augustine.”
He’d smile fondly at the avatar, his eyes glazed over in memory, “A brilliant woman who cared a lot for the Na’vi. You know she had a school? It’s what made her fall in love with it all. The children loved her.”
You raised your brows curiously when he said that, “You mention you’re around children for most of your day. Are you running her school now or something?”
“No.” He laughed as if the thought were impossible. “No, I just help out with the Omatikaya children whenever I can. Sure, I do teach them English but not on the level Grace did it. Not even close.” His eyes twinkled when he looked at you. “I think she would’ve liked you.”
You didn’t say anything to that. Instead, you offered, “Don’t sell yourself short, Spellman.”
“Same to you, Reeds.”
A few days went by and it was time to harvest your garden.
Neytiri came with Neteyam strapped to her chest. He was wide awake, staring around wide-eyed and curious as usual. Your chest felt just a bit lighter watching him, his innocence so very infectious. You had never been around many babies—no younger siblings and all. It was always you and your mother. And many other scientists. Come to think of it, you weren’t really surrounded by many children your age. If any at all.
You filled the second basket up with more fruits from your garden before glancing toward Neytiri who was picking the mushrooms and collecting them in her arms.
“How are they?” You called.
Neytiri looked back at you and nodded, “Very healthy. Enough to feed an entire village.”
You walked over to her and hummed, tail swinging slightly. “You think it’s too much?”
She shook her head and smiled contently, “No, you did really well with them. Do you plan to make more once you’ve harvested?”
“That’s the hope.” You nodded, crossing your arms. Neteyam’s large yellow eyes looked at you quietly as you moved around her to get a better look at the mushrooms. “Maybe I’ll dial it back with the next one. Technically, I didn’t plant these, all we did was save it from dying. Imagine if we let them die, all of this. What a waste it would’ve been.”
“I’ll help whenever you do,” Neytiri assured, which surprised you. She then grabbed your wrist. “Come. We should put this all away. We’ll travel through the trees again today.”
Intrigued by this, you nodded. After you brought all the freshly picked fruits, vegetables, and mushrooms to the scientists to put away, you followed Neytiri into the forest.
It was the same as last time. Both you and Neytiri quietly moved through the trees—it was a struggle still to climb again but thankfully Neytiri didn’t notice. Or if she did, she didn’t say anything. Just correct your body whenever you are doing something wrong. Whenever she did correct you though, it made the climb a little easier as you went.
You ran into one of those viperwolves but were able to get past them without any problems—again, thanks to Neytiri. But you did eventually end up running into a couple more creatures that seemed to be less dangerous.
One of them being those horse-like creatures.
“Pa’li,” Neytiri had called these creatures while petting one of them.
You watched them in awe and interest as she mounted it. She took her braid—queue—and placed it near the pa’li’s antenna. Your eyes widened when the tendrils between the queue and the antenna connected. Once it did, the creature calmed underneath Neytiri. Becoming familiar with her, as if they had known each other for a while. And maybe they did.
Neytiri smiled down at it, “We bond with them just as we bond with the rest of the life here. It is our way.”
A few other pa’li galloped toward you. One nudged past you but was quite skittish about it. At first, you didn’t approach it right away. Instead, you tried to remember how Neytiri did it. Slow in approach, which actually worked. The pa’li watched you, both warily and intrigued.
When you were close enough, you grabbed your queue and placed it near the antenna. Awed, you watched the tendrils slowly connect. A sudden unfamiliar feeling hit your body when your queue connected with the pa’li. The sensations were strange but you felt another emotion that wasn’t your own. The pa’li.
Scared but curious about you. Hesitant to get near you but also feeling the bond beginning through your queue. It was all so strange and unlike anything you’ve ever felt before.
A sudden shudder hit your spine just as the pa’li screeched and ran off, breaking the connection.
You grunted while Neytiri laughed, “Maybe next time, tanhi.”
There was a small pout on your lips, a quiet part of you missing the strange and new connection, “Guess I’m just not an animal person.”
“You will try again soon.” She assured as she slid off her pa’li with Neteyam babbling against her chest. “But it will not be today. I must leave for a hunt soon. Another day, perhaps, I will teach you.”
You were surprised at this, “Really? Teaching a Sky Person, huh? Does that mess with you morally or…?”
Neytiri frowned, “Teaching you will help you survive. Not me.” She patted the snout of the pa’li before watching it gallop away with his group. “It is not the first time I have taught a Sky Person our way.”
It took you a moment to realize what she meant, “You taught Sully, didn’t you?”
She did not answer this of course, but you had a feeling you already knew it without her having to say it. “Do you want to learn or not?”
Your tail swished, Neytiri noticed. “I’d like that. Besides, you’re a pretty good teacher as far as I can tell. I don’t think I’d want anyone else.” There was probably no one else who would even offer to teach you like Neytiri did. So, this was the kind of offer you couldn’t refuse.
Neytiri nodded, the beginnings of a smile reaching her lips. For a moment you admired her smile.
And then the next you envied it.

Jake was in the tank room on another day. You entered as usual in human form. A week had passed since your agreed-upon ‘truce’ and you were slowly growing accustomed to his presence the best way you could. Most days, he wasn’t always there. Those were the days when you were relieved and felt like you could relax a bit.
But on the days he was there, you took to ignoring him like you originally planned. And thankfully, he didn’t seem bothered by that. Sometimes he’d ask questions here and there about the fetus, but other than that, the two of you were in your own little worlds.
And you were fine with this. Perhaps Jake had the right idea about this little truce. It certainly made things easier. You were still tense around him of course—mostly because you felt like he was watching you whenever he thought you weren’t looking—but it was manageable.
Upon observing the avatar, you noticed the belly bump becoming just a little more visible as time went by—which wasn’t much time at all. You began to wonder about the differences between Na’vi pregnancy to human pregnancy.
Currently, you are going through past video logs of Grace Augustine to get some idea of how her avatar came to be pregnant.
Once more you were reminded that you weren’t alone as Jake spoke from the other side of the room, “Any theories?”
You glanced over your shoulder to see that he was watching you work with an intense look—or maybe his face was naturally like that.
A beat went by before you considered responding to his question, “Besides divine intervention? No, not really.” You turned back to the logs and made a face when Norm started showing up more in her videos. You turned back to Jake who was still watching you, “Norm and Grace didn’t—”
“No, no, they didn’t.” Jake quickly said, looking just as uncomfortable as you felt asking. “God, at least I hope they didn’t—I wasn’t always around them when linked up—he was always with Trudy actually—you know what, I rather not think about it.”
You hummed, “It was worth a shot asking.” After shutting and placing your tablet down on the table you sat at, you sunk further into your chair as you began mumbling to yourself. “Looks like I might as well have to stick with your Eywa impregnating her. Virgin Mary and all.”
“Right.”
Another silence settled between you two. You wrote down in your notes while absentmindedly listening to Jake’s quiet breaths further behind you, too acutely aware of his presence.
“About what I said about not trusting you…” Jake started and you refrained from rolling your eyes at the interruption of your note-taking and thoughts. “I’m not here to monitor you or anything and I didn’t mean—”
“Sure you did.” You say simply, glancing back at him with an impassive expression. “No point in going back on it now.”
“I was reckless with my words—”
“Reckless words have some truth to them.” You shrugged and turned back to your notes. “If it helps, I don’t trust you either, Sully.”
“Neytiri does.” That made you pause. That made you look back at him in both defense and confusion, trying to figure out just what he was trying to get at here. Jake wore a look of contemplation as if he were trying to figure something out himself, “She was the first one to agree to you watching over Grace’s kid. She fought Tsu’tey on it when usually she’d be on his side whenever it came to humans. That means something to me.”
You considered his words. Truth be told, you didn’t know why Neytiri agreed to it. Frankly, it was going to happen either way—but having Neytiri unexpectedtly on board with the plan wasn’t something any of you saw coming. You still didn’t necessarily know how to feel about that yet.
But it seemed Jake did.
Instead of addressing it, you clicked your pen close, “I’ll send updates through Norm if anything changes. Maybe through Neytiri too whenever she makes her rounds over here.”
After a pause, Jake nodded, “Copy that.” Surprisingly—and quite relieving—he began to take his leave. Which meant that the conversation was now done, thankfully. Before he left the room, he turned back to you with a twitch of his tail, “And thank you, Doc.”
“Just doing my job, Sully.” You shrugged, closing your notebook. “It’s about time, right?”
Tumblr media
It meant something. It had to. Even if he wasn’t sure if he believed in all this Eywa stuff, he believed in Neytiri. He respected Mo’at.
They saw something in you that he clearly could not see just yet. Perhaps it was now time he had to open his eyes.
Perhaps it was time for Jake to finally see.

“Quaritch is rolling the gunships, he’s going to hit Hometree.”
Trudy spoke out of breath due to running, holding her helmet.
You moved, standing up. “He can’t-“ What the hell?
“My God.” Grace says, before she sprints towards the control room, followed by you, Jake, and Norm.
“Dr. Augustine, you cannot be up here!” A guard says to her. You shoved him out of the way in frustration. “Back off.” You said, you weren’t about to let them destroy Hometree.
“Parker. Wait, stop. These are people you’re about to...” Grace said before the guard yanked at her again which made you angry, pushing him away from her. “I said back off.”
“No, no. They’re fly-bitten savages that live in a tree!” Parker says, pointing at Grace. “All right? Look around! I don’t know about you, but I see a lot of trees. They can move!”
“There are families in there. There are children in there. Babies. Are you gonna kill children?” You questioned. You were fuming as you stared Parker down.
“You don’t want that kind of blood on your hands. Believe me.” Jake said. “Just… let me try to talk them out. “They trust me.”
Parker looks at the three of you before he gives in.
“Calibrate fast. We’re going in, right now.” Grace commanded as the three of you along with Jake rushed towards the link units.
“Calibrating three, four, and five.” One said as you approached the link unit as it opened.
“Run sequence.”
“Initiating. Thirty seconds.”
You hopped on your link unit, placing the frame onto your body.
The last thing you see was Selfridge going to Jake, saying something to him as the unit closed.
You were panicking.
Closing your eyes, you opened them to find yourself back at Hometree. You blinked back a few times before standing abruptly, looking around for Grace and Jake. Once you’ve spotted them standing up. You rushed over to them. “Let’s go.” Jake said.
“Ma senpu, ma sa’nok!” Neytiri calls, gathering the attention of the olo’eyktan and the tsahik.
“Eyktukan, I have something to say.” Jake spoke, looking at them while you and Grace stood back. “Listen to him.” You said, your eyes meeting Tsu’tey’s.
“Speak, Jakesully.” Eytukan granted him the permission. “A great evil is upon us… The Sky People are coming to destroy Hometree.”
The people reacted, huffing out. You looked around, face contorting in worry.
“Look, tell them they’re going to be here soon.” Jake said to Neytiri as she translates the message. “You have to leave. Or you’re going to die.” Jake continued. “Are you certain of this?” Mo’at asked.
You looked at Jake, then back at Tsu’tey. “Look. They sent me here to learn your ways. So one day I could bring this message and that you would believe it.”
You watched as Neytiri turns to face Jake towards her, her hands feeling like they were being burned from touching Jake as they extend and retract on his chest. “What are you saying, Jake? You knew this would happen?”
“Yes.”
“Look, at first, it was just orders, and then everything changed.” Jake talked to Neytiri. “Okay? I fell in love. I fell in love with the forest and with the Omaticaya people. And with you.”
You frowned as you saw Neytiri’s tears fall. Then her ears fell. “I trusted you…” Her voice cracked. “With you..” Jake convinced. “I trusted you!”
“Trust me now, please-“
Neytiri screamed at Jake, looking at you and Grace before she returns her gaze to Jake, shoving him away from him. “You will never be one of The People!”
You heart ached. “We tried to stop them-“ You tried to explain but Neytiri held her palm up, turning her head away and going behind her mother. You looked at Tsu’tey.
He was angry, he was distraught. How could you do this to him? After everything… after he had taught you their ways, fell in love with you, and... even chose you in front of Eywa. His eyes that once looked at you with fondness now glared at you with hate, resentment. He hadn’t uttered a single word to you.
“Bind them.” Eytukan commanded as he was quick on his feet, not sparing you a glance as he held Jake down.
You now felt yourself being tugged, you swallowed, looking up at them. “You have to go. They’re coming.” You begged.
“You have to leave now!” Grace says. You were pushed down to your knees as your hands were bound. All you could do was frown as they had decided to fight.
The three of you were bound to a post in a line. The people were gathered around you, waiting. Then you heard it, the choppers.
“Go! Please!” You spoke. “Run to the forest!” Jake shouted. “They will destroy this place!”
“Neytiri, you must go now.” Grace said, but it was ignored. Then they were in front of you. “Have no fear!” Tsu’tey shouted. “Tsu’tey, please!” You said, fighting against your restraints. He ignores you. “Take the Ikran, attack from above.” Eytukan commanded Tsu’tey as he followed, running towards Hometree but he paused for a moment as he looked at you.
There it was still, resentment. However, his eyes also held sorrow. “Tsu’tey…” You called but he shakes his head, yelping at his teammates as they went and climbed inside Hometree.  Your eyes then caught sight of the gas cans being launched at you, smoke clouding your vision as you heard the people coughing, trying to get out.
Eytukan had then commanded to open fire, their arrows doing little to no damage on the RDA aircrafts. Then your eyes widened as they switched to the rockets, hitting Hometree square on the ground. “No!” Jake screamed as the missiles kept firing and firing. Then a chill ran down your spine.
Tsu’tey was still in there.
“Stop!” You screamed. Your heart pounding as tears rolled down your face. “Get everyone to the forest!” Eytukan signaled, leaving the three of you still bound.
“Neytiri!” Jake called to her, but she just gave a blank stare as she walked away.
“We gotta move, he’s gonna blow the columns!” Jake said to the two of you. You breathed in deeply, tears clouding your vision as you tried to break free from your restraints. “I- I can’t.” You spoke out. “You can, come on now, (Y/N)!” Jake says, struggling to break free from his own.
Then you see Mo’at approaching as you blinked, carrying her knife as she approached the three of you, her knife dangerously travelling to Jake’s neck.
“Mo’at, no!” Grace pleaded. With tear-stricken face, Mo’at cries out. “If you are one of us, help us.”
She then cuts Jake’s rope, freeing him. Next it was you, then Grace.
“This way!” Jake said, you followed him, your eyes couldn’t help but look around you as the people still struggled. Then another round of missiles rained down.
It exploded, sending a wave strong enough to knock you over the branch as you coughed out. “Come on, Grace. Move!” Jake says, helping Grace to hop over the fallen huge branch. Then you supported Mo’at in crossing over as you hopped over in time as large missiles came.
“Head down!” Jake says. “Down, down!” He says, as you hid yourself behind the tree branch. Explosions rang left and right as your lip quivered. All you could think about was Tsu’tey.
Then the final blow hit. Leaves started to fall amongst you. You heard it. The large creaking sound of the base of the Hometree snapping.
Everyone looked up in horror as they knew what was coming next. “Go. Go!!” Jake pushed you in front of him as you ran. You looked back and forth as you ran, your face scrunching as you ran for your life.
Separate branches then fell. You were about to run into one when Jake yanked you towards him. “No, no, get back! Back!”
The screams from around you had struck your heart, your whole body feeling frozen as you hear their screams become muffled as Hometree finally surrenders, dropping.
You kneeled as you watched around you. Destruction. There were flames and sparks everywhere. Smoke still hanging in the air. You grasped at the ground beneath you, closing your eyes shut as you hear Mo’at scream in terror at what just happened.
It followed by more screams and cries. You couldn’t take it. You stood up, walking around to see if the rest of the people are still okay, somehow. Your breathing became ragged as you tried to look for a sign of Tsu’tey. You prayed to Eywa with all your might that he must’ve made it out alive.
You feel fresh tears running down your face as you walked with the people. Jake excused himself, saying he was going to look for Neytiri. You began walking with Grace, with your heart heavy. Grace frowned from beside you, going to wrap an arm around your shoulder to rub your arm.
Then Parker pulled the plug.
You were still walking when Grace suddenly dropped down, lifeless. “Oh no…” Was all that you managed to say when you feel yourself slip from your consciousness, dropping alongside her.
The children around you were alerted. “Tsahik!” They called out to Mo’at.
Suddenly, you were back in the link unit as it opened. Anger. That was all you felt as the first guard you see hovering above you was given a punch on his face. He pulled you out from the link unit as your hands were bound yet again. “You murderer!” You hear Grace scream at Parker.
“How could you?!” You shouted as you were being yanked to stay still.
Now you were detained. You had your head in your hands as your thoughts ran almost a million miles an hour.
“What’s going on, brother? Long time no see.” You heard Trudy say, making you look at her to see her pushing in a tray carrying food. “Personally, I don’t feel these tree-hugging traitors deserve steak.” She chuckled.
“They get steak? That’s bullshit. Let me see that.” The guard spoke, crouching down and opening the cart door.
You saw how Trudy approached him and then bought a gun out, making your eyes widen. She then aimed at his head. “Yeah, you know what that is. Down, down.” Trudy said, making the man lay on his stomach with his hands up. “All the way down.” She said, before raising her hand and smacking the gun on the back of his head, rendering him unconscious.
“Trudy!” You hear Norm say. “Max!” Trudy called out and Max comes into view, typing something on the padlock and the door opened.
All of you now were running to get to Trudy’s samson. “Trudy, fire up the ship, go!” Jake said, making Norm and Trudy head to the outside.
You also reached the first door, pulling it open and going over to grab your mask, handing one to Grace, and Jake. “Max, stay here. I need someone on the inside I can trust.” You heard Jake say as you handed him his exopack.
Reaching samson 1-6, you helped carried Jake onto the chopper, once he was on, you quickly handed his wheelchair to Norm. “Come on!” Trudy said, knowing that her unauthorized engine start was now notified.
Then bullets sped past you as you helped Grace get back on, the last one to board was you. “I’m taking fire, let’s go!” Trudy shouted.
“Come on, (Y/N)!.” Norm said, pulling you up. You held onto him as you managed to sit down, exhaling. Now you were up in the air.
“Yeah! Wohoo!” Jake and Norm cheered. “Everybody alright back there?” Trudy asked.
You were about to reply when you felt it. A wet sensation on your side, warm, sticky. You breathed out, placing a palm against it, making you wince as you saw that your hand was covered in blood. Your blood.
You gasp out a breath. “Fuck.”
Jake had a smile on his face when he turned to face you, but that quickly dropped when he saw the bloodstain on your side. “(Y/N)’s hit!” Jake said. “Oh, shit.” Grace said, inspecting you.
“What?” Trudy said, looking back. “Get the trauma kit!” Jake said to Norm. “Trauma kit’s forward, on the bulkhead.” Trudy says. “Keep the pressure on, (Y/N). Hang on, alright?” Jake said as you squinted in pain, the adrenaline leaving your body as you were about to possibly bleed out.
Reaching the link shack, Norm had linked to his avatar to monitor the outside as the link shack you were currently in was now being hoisted up by Trudy’s chopper. You laid against the fluid gel pack on one of the link units. Trauma kid had been applied and you weren’t feeling any better.
You then felt Grace inject something on your arm as her face contorted in worry. Jake revealed the blanket covering your body to see the bandage was already beginning to get soaked further of your blood. You clenched your jaw, eyes fighting to stay awake.
“I’m gonna get you some help, (Y/N).” Jake promised, placing a hand on your arm after he places the blanket back on you again. “You have to be strong, hold on (Y/N). The People can help you, I know it.”
You let out a shaky sigh “Why would they help us?” You shifted, but every move you made hurt. Jake looked at you, biting the inside of his cheek. “Get some rest, alright? We’re almost there.” He only said, patting your head as he moved away. You closed your eyes.
After Jake had claimed Toruk, he now had to face the people.
“Tsu’tey te Rongloa Ateyitan, I stand before you… ready to serve the Omaticaya people. You are Olo’eyktan, and you are a great warrior. I can’t do this without you.” Jake said to Tsu’tey, his eyes pleading.
Tsu’tey thinks, blinking to look at Toruk before he looks back at Jake, nodding. “Toruk makto, I will fly with you.” He said, placing a hand on his chest, however. The next words that came out of Jake’s mouth had a chill sent to his spine.
“My friend is dying. (Y/N) is dying.”
Tsu’tey’s mouth went agape, he had been occupied with his anger, hate, and grief that he had forgotten where you were, or where your body was. He didn’t even find himself asking for you after the aftermath of the destruction of Hometree. Tsu’tey backs away, looking at Mo’at then back at Jake. “I beg the help of Eywa.” He speaks.
Tsu’tey’s brows furrowed “Where is she?” he demanded. The need to see you overcame him as his heart drummed in his chest. Jake’s eyes flickered over to Tsu’tey. “She’s here.”
You stirred awake as you blinked, the bright bioluminescent lights almost blinding your weak frame. You then see Jake, in his avatar, then Neytiri from beside you as she was wrapping you in something. “Stay with us, come on (Y/N).” Jake said.
“Be strong.” Neytiri adds, looking at you, placing her huge hand on your shoulder as you were laid down.
Then you spot Jake and Neytiri looking at someone before they stood up. You let out a deep breath as the face of the man you had wanted to see for the longest time appeared. “Tsu’tey…?” You muttered weakly.
Tsu’tey swallowed the lump in his throat seeing you. It was the first time he ever saw you in this form, your true form. You were small, smaller than him. You were weak as your eyes flutter open and close just to see his face. He bites his lip. This was truly you. The one he was mated with. It left a deep ache in his heart seeing you in this state, not even knowing the chance of your survival.
Tsu’tey inches closer, his hand going their way to place them on your head, down to your cheek, but it was covered due to your mask. You might live, or you may die.
“I see you.” You whisper weakly to him, a smile etching on your face as you reached up to him, your hand barely covering his cheek as he instinctively leaned into your touch. “I see you.” Tsu’tey answered, yet his heart felt regret.
“They’re ready.” Jake announced.
You and Tsu’tey looked at each other before he carefully swept you up in his arms.
Making their way towards the Tree of Souls, you opened your eyes, seeing this beautiful sacred site in your own form was overwhelming. You looked around, gasping. “This place…it is truly beautiful.” You mutter, only Tsu’tey could hear as he looked down at your awe-struck gaze.
Jake carried your avatar body as he laid it to the side. The people were gathered around as Tsu’tey now carefully laid you on the other side. You felt the cold ground. Then you had the feeling of vines crawling their way onto your body, trapping you in a hug, almost.
“The Great Mother may choose to save all that she is, in this body.” Mo’at explained to Jake as Tsu’tey never left your side. “Is that possible?” Jake asked. “She must pass through the eye of Eywa and return.” Mo’at answered. “But Jakesully, I feel her getting weak.”
Tsu’tey swallowed the forming lump on his throat as his eyes darted between your human form and your avatar. His hand going over to hold your shoulder. He nudges his forehead to the side of your head, a rare show of vulnerability coming from Tsu’tey. He scrunches his eyes closed, muttering his prayer with all his might.
“Do not leave me, tìyawn. Eywa, bring her back to me. Give her strength. Do not let her leave this world without me. Ma Eywa, it is all I ask.” Tsu’tey muttered against you, as tears formed in his eyes, dropping onto you.
Jake could feel the same ache in his heart watching the two of you. He treated you like the sister he never had, it had him closing his eyes, wishing that Eywa could hear his prayers. Grace, now in her avatar form stood side by side with Norm as she has a frown etched on her face watching Tsu’tey being vulnerable.
The moment Tsu’tey sat back up and looked at Mo’at, she had then commenced the consciousness transfer. Then the ritual chant began as the people held each other as they closed their eyes, praying that you might cross the eye of Eywa.
Tsu’tey chanted, keeping his eyes trained on you.
“Hear us, All Mother.” Mo’at praised. “Eywa, help her.” The people chanted. “Take this spirit with you and breathe her back to us.”
“Let her walk among us as one of The People.”
All you saw was a bright light, then memories flashed around you, in your human form, when you were little, then up to now as you watched yourself falling in love with Tsu’tey.
Eywa had known you. She knows you. She was real.
Standing there, you felt a wave of peace rush over you as your skin glowed. Looking, you spot a path, then you felt this urge to keep fighting. Breathing in, you feel yourself walking, jogging, that turned into a full on sprint as you desperately chased the end of the glowing pathway.
“Do not leave me, tìyawn. Eywa, bring her back to me. Give her strength.” You hear Tsu’tey’s voice echoing around you. Making you push yourself as you ran.
I am not leaving you. I will come back. Great Mother, hear me.
You finally reached the end as you were enveloped in a bright flashing light.
Tsu’tey’s eyes looked at Mo’at as her chanting stopped. His heart felt like it was about to burst from his chest as Mo’at ordered them to stop.
Tsu’tey and Jake circled around you as Tsu’tey carefully inspected your human body. Your eyes were closed as you heaved your last breath. Tsu’tey then jumped over towards your avatar form, his hand going over to your shoulder as Jake stayed with your human form. Mo’at hovered her hands above your human body towards your avatar.
Tsu’tey still glued to your side as his eyes never left your face. “What’s happening, did it work?” Jake frantically asked.
The vines running around the Tree of Souls glowed brighter than ever, almost blinding.
Tsu’tey then laid you on your back, his hand going over to cup your neck as he carefully hoisted your upper body in his arms.
“Tìtxen si, ma yawne. (Wake up, my beloved).” Tsu’tey whispers against you.
And then he feels that Eywa had heard The People’s prayers as your avatar stirred, then you opened your eyes.
Tsu’tey was the first one to see as he pulled you close to him. “Thank you, Great Mother, you have returned her to me. I am forever thankful.”
Jake rushed over to him as you awoke in your new body.
“Tsu’tey…” You said, a smile now crawling on your face.
“Hey there, big baby.” Jake said, breathing out his relief as he looked at you. You glanced at him and you shake your head. “Look who’s got you crying.” You said to him as he chuckled, the last of his tear rolling down his face.
“She has returned to us!” Mo’at smiled as the people yelped and cheered.
“Thank you, thank you.” Jake said, looking up at the Tree of Souls.
Tsu’tey still held you in his arms, eyes scanning your face as you smiled at him. Eywa has returned you, Eywa has returned you to him. He nuzzles his forehead to yours, closing his eyes as you reached up to cup his cheek. “I thought I had lost you.”
Even though the looming threat of the RDA still hung, Tsu’tey could not be bothered as he feels you breathe beneath him.
He was then filled with determination as he looks at The People. He was going to do everything he can so they could win this fight. He then glanced back at you. He was going to fight for you.
He was going to fight for a future with you.

You had many things that you felt grateful to Eywa for. Some where your clan - your family - the Omaticaya. For your Sa’nok (Mother) and Sempul (Father) and their love for you. For Eywa’s love for everyone and everything, for her allowance for you to to breathe and walk on her planet.
You were thankful for Jake Sully. Former human, a sky demon, who came to Pandora and learned the way of the People, and in turn becoming one. You were thankful for Turuk Makto (Shadow Rider) who brought peace to Pandora by defeating the humans, despite having worked for and been one himself. You were thankful for Jake Sully, who became your mate.
What you were the most thankful for was the blessing of your and Jake’s children. Neteyam was your first son, who was conceived just before the battle against the sky people. His birth was a beacon of hope and new beginnings, and the start of a family that would eventually become six.
Around that same time came Kiri, the sudden and unexplained daughter of Dr. Grace Augustine. Grace had been part of your life since childhood, and her tragic death was a heavy loss on the clan. But her passing would then reveal itself to not be the end of Grace’s legacy. Jake and you took Kiri in without doubt the second you knew of her existence. Sweet little Kiri, your daughter in all but blood.
After Kiri was the second and last son of yours, Lo’ak. His birth was a joy for the whole family, and a great happiness for his brother and sister that would become older siblings. With your second itan (son), you and Jake though that the family was officially complete. That was until you feel pregnant once again when Neteyam and Kiri was 7 and Lo’ak 6. You were currently almost halfway through the pregnancy, and you and Jake couldn’t be happier of your big family.
”Alright kids, it’s bath time!” Jake called out for Neteyam, Kiri and Lo’ak who were running around playing in the mud outside of the hammock. You were preparing the last of the food that you’d eat after the children had bathed.
They slowed down, Neteyam and Kiri pouting while Lo’ak full out whined at the news that playtime was over. ”But Sempul (Father)! Please, just a few more minutes?”
Jake shook his head, hands on his hips. ”Nope. Come on, food’s almost ready.”
They collectively groaned but obeyed their father, to which you smiled. With one glance at them, you realized that today Jake would need your help to bath them if you wanted the meat to still be warm when they were done. So with that you rose up onto feet and followed them down to the body of water, Kiri’s little hand creeping itself into you own.
Bath time took a little longer than usual due to the excessive amount of dirt and small sticks in-beaded in your children’s hair, but with the help of Jake you all made it back to the kelku while the food was still somewhat warm.
Dinner was as usual a time where everyone shared about their day. Lo’ak, Kiri and Neteyam did most of the talking, excitedly telling vivid stories of all the adventures they had during the day. You and Jake offered played out reactions to spur them on, asking followup questions to hear more of their excitement. That exited retelling steadily faded away to slow blinking and yawns escaping their small mouths. You smiled, getting the small ones to bed wouldn’t be hard this night.
”Lets get you all tucked in now.” Jake fondly said to the kids, and they did not complain this time. They instead nodded and rose from the floor. Kiri and Neteyam rose up their arms in request for their Sempul (Father) to carry them, which Jake did. Lo’ak looked up to you, arms asking for you to also pick him up. You did so with a coo, pressing a kiss to the boys forehead.
Jake and you carried the children to the place your family slept, cuddling up into a nest of tangled limps. It wasn’t every night that you all slept tangled up like this, what with your children growing older, but tonight was one of those night.
”Goodnight Ma’ite (My daughter).” You cooed, pressing a kiss to Kiri’s little head, which Jake copied. She smiled, murmuring a goodnight in return. You then did the same with Neteyam and Lo’ak. ”Goodnight Ma’itans (My sons).”
”Sa’nok (Mother), can you please sing?” Neteyam requested bashfully, Lo’ak going in with small pleading and Kiri nodded enthusiastically also in agreement. Jake laughed a little at the familiar request they had asked so many times before. You smiled warmly, agreeing instantly. ”Yes, Sa’nok (Mother) can sing.”
The children settled back, relaxing into their parents warm embraces as you started to sing the same lullaby that you’d sung over a thousand times by now. Barely halfway through the song, your children where peacefully asleep. Your voice faded away as you and Jake shared a loving smile.
Jake lend his neck down to kiss you softly. You hummed against his lips, as content as can be. You relaxed back against his strong shoulder, closing your eyes. Jake’s hand settled gently against your swollen stomach, where it would remain as a protective blanket for the rest of the night. ”Night, [Name], sleep well. I love you.”
”Goodnight, Ma’Jake. I love you too.” You whispered before letting yourself fall asleep, safe and happy in the arms of your family.

neytiri
learned human anatomy from grace when the school was running
met you when you came in with jake sully
you were around her age. she was 19 and you were 20
being a scientist like grace, you had an avatar ready for you like how jake used his twin’s avatar
when you’re out of your avatar, you tend to forget that you still get your period
like jake (when he’s an avatar), she can smell whenever your period is near
she’d ask grace what you like during your period and does her best to make you feel as comfortable as you can
she’d do anything to make you smile
she’d take the pain away if she can but she can’t so the next best thing she does is make you feel comfortable as much as she can
whether you like it or not, she will bring you food and uses that oxygen mask just so she can stay with you (even if she hates the lab and other sky people)
many many woven clothes for you to wear both for your avatar and your little human self
rests her head on your abdomen and litters kisses on them from time to time
calls you sweet nicknames in na’vi language
Tumblr media
kiri
like her brothers, she knows about human anatomy because of their dad and because you’re her friend
she thinks periods are stupid and why should you women on earth get them
you explained that it’s related to getting pregnant
boooooo na’vi women don’t have to bleed just cause they didn’t get pregnant
I KNOW I’M JEALOUS OF YOU ALL
would laugh at your misery (not in a mean way but it’s just to lighten your mood) but she’d help you as best as she can
being a tsahik-in-training, she brings you soothing creams and gives you these small homemade medicines to lessen the pain
BEST MASSAGES I SWEAR
weaves you blankets to keep you warm because you always feel a lot colder when you have your period
would feel bad when the pain is too unbearable to the point of you sometimes crying
ears flat on her head as she held you in her arms as you cried your pain out
she would rock you to sleep as best as she can
even if you complain that you’re not a baby and why was she treating you like one
she shushes you and tells you to go to sleep
Tumblr media
tuk (platonic)
when you first got your period, she was SUPER confused as to why you were bleeding
like her brothers, she was confused as to why you were suddenly bleeding one day
cries for her mom and dad that y/n was dying and bleeding
jake laughed and explained to his youngest that human girls like you get their periods and it’s a normal thing
HOW CAN BLEEDING BE A NORMAL THING
jake then gives his youngest a small lecture on human anatomy and tuk was like
ooooohhhhh that’s kinda stupid
she’s really kiri’s sister. she spends too much time with her older sister that she’s becoming a mini kiri
anywhos
she would ask any of her older siblings to come to help her get food for you
like fish or meat, she asks for neteyam to help her
but for fruits, she gets them herself
makes little bracelets and teaches you how to make some
cries when you cry
the babies cry
she sleeps beside you as much as she can before neytiri picks her up and jake fixes your position in bed before leaving you a kiss on the forehead and they leave the lab
tuk would come running back when she woke up back home
no one is taking her away from her best friend ESPECIALLY when her friend needs her
Tumblr media
ronal
she didn’t give two shits when you got your period one day
why should she? you were the same species as those who were hurting pandora
but seeing you uncomfortable throughout the day and seeing you physically try to lessen the pain, maybe a little help won’t hurt
she would leave some soothing paste by the entrance of your pod (you’re wearing an oxygen mask) and leave as quickly as she visited
would watch you from afar and have her kids be the ones giving you the things she made for you
since she was still not that fond of humans, she doesn’t give any physical affection
but maybe, if you prove to her that she’s wrong with her assumptions
then maybe, just maybe, she can be a bit physically affectionate toward you
Tumblr media
tsireya
the sweetest girl out there fr fr
when she learned that you humans get periods, she immediately tries to find ways to ‘stop them’
but when you explained that it can only stop when women get either pregnant or become old, she was bummed
like c’mon, there must be another way for it to stop
she doesn’t want you getting hurt but you explained that it’s the side effects of it and you can’t really stop it
but that doesn’t stop her from doing her best to help y/n out as best as she can
the best medicine and soothing cream only for y/n to use
weaving warm blankets for y/n since being near the ocean makes it really really cold at night
gives the best best bEST hugs fr fr
need her to be with you the whole day? she will stay with you for as long as you want her to be
she won’t leave you unless she has something to do
Tumblr media
grace augustine
going with grace to pandora was the best decision you did
although everything was new, you didn’t mind the new surroundings so long as grace and you were together
since arriving in pandora, your period became irregular because of stress from the travel and just in general getting used to everything
grace was there all throughout as you were to her
but soon enough, everything became normal again and you two sync up with it
when you feel that your period is getting close, you tell grace and you two stock up on pads
she cooks for you and makes you your favorite drinks
you give her massages (she loves them so much)
when one becomes very emotional, the other lets them go take a rest the whole day
when you’re in your room the whole day, she brings you pandora samples like flowers or fruits and explains to you what they are
she brings you some fruits that are edible for humans to eat
cuddles at night are a must for the two of you. neither of you two goes to sleep without the other

Jake x Avatar!reader x Neytiri
Chapter 7: The adventure begins
Word count - 1.6k (not proofread)
Note: Hopefully this chapter is more intriguing, I've got most the boring buildup bite out of the way now and I can start getting to the crux of the story, woohoo!
•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡
The forest was lush with life around you. The soil was dampened with recent rain fall making the ground feel spongy beneath your feet while the air was thick with that foreign humidity that was native to Pandora. You felt out of place as it seemed each step you took a twig would snap beneath it or a rustle of leaves would be left in its wake.
Jake and Neytiri were silent, they moved through the forest with ease but it was second nature to them now unlike you, a fresh face in this savage planet. You trailed behind them with wide eyes as you felt the scornful gaze of hidden creatures track you, you tried to focus on the path ahead.
Jake walked slightly hunched as if he were still a marine while Neytiri stood tall with her eyes gazing above it, she knew she could handle herself.
A while later, echoes of voices could be heard.
The outskirts of the village began to appear with tall watchtowers full of armed guards standing proud amongst the vegetation, the stalks of the mighty towers covered in ivy and moss to disguise them. The warriors looked down from their huts at the Oleyektan and Tsahik, confused as to why yet another dreakwalker has been allowed past their bounds. Some warriors held guns stolen from the war while the more interesting of the lot held arrows encased in thin razor like spines that had been crafted from the abandoned artifacts.
It was intimidating yet intriguing. You found yourself avoiding eye contact with each one although you know their eyes are heavily trained on you, you felt the relentless urge to just wrap your arms around yourself in a selfmade blanket of comfort but alas you didn't want to appear weak.
The sound of chatter and yips became louder the further into the forest you went, the village life growing denser. You noticed how Neytiri dropped part of her defensive stance and instead straightened to show her swollen stomach, she was proud and she should be as she was carrying the next leader - their heir. The chatter begin to hush as the chiefs walked past, the clan pressing their fingers from their heads and down towards the earth in a sign of greeting and respect before eyeing you.
They could smell the strange freshness that laced your skin as if you were newly born, which technically you were. They didn't outright show their disapproval out of respect to their leaders but you saw how their ears slightly pulled back and mothers hid their young behind their legs.
It made you feel self aware and you finally relented and wrapped your arms around your lean stomach, trying to protect yourself from the ever present stares. It didn't make you feel any better.
The huts here were mainly built in the trees, hidden from normal view, but if you looked closely you could see manually placed planks of wood that would circle the trunks of the trees leading to woven pathways throughout the sky. You followed Jake and Neytiri closely, unsure of where they were taking you.
The people that had now been left on the path behind began to huddle as soon as you left, their whispers chasing and taunting you as you felt their stare flick from your back then back to their friends. Jake noticed it too and he offered you a small smile that you returned. He knew what it was like to be stared at, to be the talk of the town, but at least he had the training to not care for any of it but here you were, a feeble little scientist buried deep in her shell - how were you going to survive this?
Neytiri paid the whispers no mind as she continued to lead the way through the constant forming crowds until they reach a tree with one of the said staircases wrapping up from its base. The climb looked long and dangerous.
She looked up to where the tree met a platform before looking at you.
“You must climb”
She said as if it were simple, as if you wouldn't die with one wrong step.
“I've never climbed before”
“Then you will learn now or you will not survive”
It was at this moment you think back to one of Jakes call logs where he would speak of first entering tribe life, he said Neytiri went by the motto ‘learn or die’ and here she was, proving his point.
You felt yourself begin to tremble like a frightened pup and Neytiri either noticed and didn't care or just didn't see, you placed your bets on the first. Jake however clapped a hand on your shoulder and gave it a slight squeeze.
“I'll go first and you can watch what I do”
He says reassuringly and steps on the first plank, his foot slightly angled so he could maintain balance. He repeated this step at a slowed pace to show you his every movement and you did just that.
“Now you go”
You heard Neytiri say in a surprisingly encouraging voice.
“I will follow you”
She states, you knew this was one of the rare occasions she was trying to reassure you, that she would protect you on your ascent, yet it just added pressure that in case you'd slip you'd now not only squash the Tsahik but a pregnant Tsahik at that.
Nevertheless you nod, trying to reenact what Jake had done before, you place your foot at a slight angle on the plank. You then feel Neytiri come close to you from behind.
“You have turned it too much, you will instead lose balance this way”
She explains and you straighten you foot slightly.
“Well done”
She praises and you can feel a blush of excitement and pride flush onto your cheeks. You then push off the ground and slowly but carefully begin your wobbly ascent.
Neytiri trekked the steps behind you, her movements fluid and accurate while watching you like a hawk. She'd give you frequent instruction yet also compliments at every turn - it was clear she had picked up you responded better to being gently guided than yelled at. The complete opposite of Jake who would never listen unless you clipped him round the ear.
After what seemed like an hour long attempt, you felt your feet hit a wider yet spongyer surface and you could've cried out in relief instead you settled for a pleased sigh. Neytiri came up behind you shortly after and you swear you saw her feline-like smile before she covered her mouth with her palm.
You turned to Jake with a proud smile as if you wanted him to be proud of you also and he had a smile on his face as well, his eyes crinkling slightly. Jake knew you were proud of yourself and he was too; however he secretly knew you made more of a meal out of that than he did on his first attempt.
“Well done”
He says with an amused tone but you were to relieved to hear the slight tease in his voice.
You now looked out across the vast tribal land from a whole new perspective. The edge of the patch of forest descended into a sheer cliff face that rivalled the height of the hallelujah mountains, you could see the bottom of their rocky forms peaking out the underbelly of the clouds. Inside the tribe land was just as fascinating, the na'vi had crafted a massive network of spiderweb-like patterns, connecting each tree to its sibling and each bridge ended with a nest like hut, some big some small. You could see na'vi of various shapes and sizes making their way throughout the levitated village, some holding baskets of fruits while others were just children chasing each other with wooden carved toys. No matter where you looked there was a smile.
The spongy pathway you were on lead to the second grandest hut their was, it was colossal in size while still looking cosy despite not being able to see in due to a warm toned woven covering blocking everything but the light from entering. The outside of the hut was decorated with beaded strings and carved symbols, some you recognised as the religious symbols of the Omaticayan tribe. It was only then you realised who's hut you were standing in front of.
It was Mo'at's.
Neytiri looked over at you before she spoke.
“My mother would like to meet you, she wants the blessing of Eywa to see if we should teach you our ways.”
It was here you could see Neytiri was slightly more accepting than you originally thought. Maybe it was due to you sharing a bond with Grace, that Neytiri felt like she owed her adopted parental figure this one favour and it was.
Neytiri had seen Grace as a mother, as she saw her dying, about to be taken by Eywa, it was then she realised she truly loved the woman and wished to honour her death in any way she could. Maybe you were this way, maybe you were how she could keep her unspoken promise to a dying woman.

It was a beautiful day on Pandora. Quietly humming to yourself, you made your way towards the forest where you would be collecting photos of many different plants to further your research. The book ‘Pandoran Botany’ that Grace Augustine wrote was literally like your Bible. You spent countless hours working with the other botanists to learn more about these plants and what they are capable of providing. Their beauty and wonder never failed to amaze you.
You’ve spent almost the past week coming out into different spots in the forest to capture photos of plants and try to identify them without looking in the book. Of course, you didn’t stray too far from the lab but each day you ventured out a little further and further, not being able to contain yourself each time you seen a new plant you’d never seen since you arrived on Pandora. But what was the harm, right?
You were crouched down in a spot, carefully focusing the camera on the details of this plant you found.
“What’re you doing out here?” A deep voice startled you, making you jump and gasp, nearly dropping the camera. You whipped around to find the source.
“Oh, Lo’ak,” you blew out a sigh of relief with your hand over your heart, “You scared the shit out of me!”
He laughed, flashing a wide and charming smile, looking at you in amusement. “Sorry, didn’t know you were so jumpy,” he teased with his hands on his hips.
You stood up from your crouch and gave him an eye roll, trying to suppress a smirk.
“Well, what are you doing?” He asked for the second time.
“Oh yeah— I’m just taking some pictures of some plants for my research,” you explained as he nodded in response. “What are you doing?” You threw the question back at him.
He tsked, “Last time I checked you’re on my terrain. Didn’t know I needed a reason to be out here.” He tilted his head at you holding your camera.
“Let me see this,” he snatched the camera out of your hand.
“Hey!” You tried to grab it back but he dangled it way above your head due to his much taller stature. “Be careful with it, Lo’ak, it’s got important stuff on there!” You scolded while jumping up and attempting to get it back. It was to no use, though.
He chuckled and seemed to enjoy teasing you. “Awww, the little human girl can’t reach. Aren’t you just pathetic?” he laughed and feigned pity, poking out his bottom lip in a fake sad expression all while holding you off with one strong arm.
He threw it up in the air and gasped to scare you, only for him to easily catch it with his large hands. Your heart dropped, not wanting the camera to shatter and lose all the photos it possessed.
“Knock it off, Lo’ak!” You shouted angrily and kicked his shin, only to make him bust out laughing.
“You’re so cute when you’re angry,” he kept laughing and petted your head.
“I’m not a fucking child, stop treating me like one!”
“Oh, yeah?” His eyes danced around playfully.
You didn’t answer, you didn’t know if he was still teasing or if it was a trick question. You just stared at him, eyes filled with anger.
He smirked and looked away from you to look at the camera, clicking through its contents.
“Hmm, these are pretty pictures,” he stated observingly, “But Eywa, you would look so much prettier in this camera” he flirted shamelessly.
You scoffed and rolled your eyes, trying not to blush. It was no secret Lo’ak has always been a huge flirt.
“Oh please, Lo. Don’t you have anything better to do than flirting with me?” You asked peering up at him with your arms crossed.
He loved you calling him his shortened nickname and how you teased him back. He liked to think you were playing hard to get. All the other girls would’ve already submitted to him by now, but what’s the fun in that?
“Nah, I don’t think I do.” He quipped. “Have you never wondered what you’d look like on here?”
You raised an eyebrow. “What’re you talking about?”
“Like they do back on earth. I think dad called it ‘porn’?” He asked nonchalantly.
Your jaw fell to the ground after you nearly choked on your spit. A blush crept over your features, not being able to hide your blush this time. “Lo’ak! You pervert!” You shoved his stomach and tried acting offended that he would insinuate such a dirty idea.
He chuckled at your reaction. “How am I the perv when you’re the one blushing, huh?”
Your blush deepened, much to your dismay, and you looked down at your feet.
He squatted down to be on your level. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d almost think you are curious about it” he spoke lowly, and you swore you could feel his breath on your face. He stretched an arm out to pull the strap of your tanktop and bra down your shoulder. Your stomach did flips and you were frozen in place, unable to stop him.
“Tell me you want to,” he demanded, already feeling impatient. “I know you do, I can smell you, but tell me you want it.”
“I-I want it, please,” you gave up your fight easier than you’d like to admit.
“Hmm, good girl. I knew you had it in ya,” he praised, loving that he broke you and won. He turned his attention back to the camera in his hand and pressed a button, making a red light come on in the corner as he pointed the camera towards you.
“Hey everyone, Y/N here is gonna show us how good she can be whenever she’s not bickering like a brat or hiding in that damn lab,” he started, and you blushed and couldn’t help but laugh at him.
“No one is seeing this, Lo.” You made it clear and shook your head, looking at him and not the camera lens.
“Oh, come on! I know that but don’t ruin the fun, baby.” He laughed. His smile faded and lust clouded his eyes, darkening his expression. “Now let’s see you take those clothes off, sevin,” he rasped.
Your heart was racing and you were nervous as hell. Not only because of the thrill of doing anything sexual with this hot Na’vi man, but also the thrill of doing it in on a video?? You were sure your heart was about to beat out of your chest.
Your hands were shaking a little as your reached for the bottom of your tank top, slowly peeling it up to raise it over your head and off. Your nerves made you slower and less confident. You had the first item of clothing off at least, time to tackle the rest.
“C’mon babe, this thing won’t be able to finish our video at the pace you’re going,” he laughed behind the camera, holding it up to his face to make sure you were perfectly centered.
You huffed in frustration and wiggled your shorts and panties off in one quick tug, flinging them off to the side and unsnapped your bra in a swift move as well to be completely naked. “There! Happy?”
He lowered the camera from his face so he could fully take in the sight for his own eyes. “Fuckkkk, yes,” he groaned out deeply, reaching down to palm his tented loincloth that was aching for some relief. His eyes were hooded and ate up every inch of your naked form, licking his bottom lip in the process.
His evident approval made your confidence boost and you didn’t feel as insecure to be exposed in front of him. You rubbed your thighs together as slick coated your pussy lips, you were more than ready for whatever Lo’ak had planned in that dirty mind of his. He chuckled seeing your apparent neediness and untied his loincloth with one hand, the other hand still making sure the camera caught every inch of your glory.
His cock sprung out as the cloth fell to the ground. You couldn’t help your mouth from hanging agape, taken aback by how huge and heavy he was. It took effort to force your eyes off his beautiful erection and back up to his equally beautiful face. He motioned you with his hand. “C’mere, babe.”
You gently walked towards him, waiting for him to make a move. He reached his hand out and grabbed your tit, fiddling with your nipple between his fingers. He smiled when you couldn’t help but hum and whimper in satisfaction. Then he lowered himself in a squat to get on your level and positioned the camera to get a closeup on your boobs.
“Fuck, these are perfect,” Lo’ak said while groping them, “Truly a work of art.” He continued to get all the angles of your breasts while playing with them, making your heart speed up.
Then he lowered himself more, opting to sit on the ground in front of you. Without warning, he hiked up one of your legs and you quickly gained your balance on your standing leg, hands finding rest on top of his head. He angled the camera to get a good view of your pussy as his other hand began playing through your glistening folds, collecting all your slick on his long fingers. You whimpered above him, the rough pads of his fingers bringing much pleasure to you.
He spread your lips apart, gaining a perfect view to your little hole. Looking through the camera, he made sure this stunning view was being captured. You blushed deeply at the way you were being put on display like a pornstar, but it turned you on beyond belief.
“Such a tiny little tawtute pussy,” he hummed and looked up at your eyes, “I’m gonna fuck it so good.”
You clenched around nothing, your one standing leg suddenly growing weak and wanting to give out. “Please Lo’ak!”
“Lay down, now,” he demanded and you wasted no time in rushing your way down to the forest floor, spreading your legs wide open.
“You’re so good. What a good little slut,” he praised you. He grabbed his rock-hard dick and ran it up and down your slit, earning a moan from you. Once again, he held the camera up and made sure it was getting all of this. Your pretty self laid out on display for him and his dick starting to breach your hole. It was nearly too much for him to handle.
Pushing in slowly, you gasped at the stretch and he groaned as you sucked him in your tight walls. He pushed and pushed until he nearly bottomed out, giving you a minute to adjust to his size. “You okay?” He asked, genuinely concerned you might break in half.
“Mhmmm, go, please!” You thought it was more painful with him being still inside of you instead of moving.
He obeyed and started with some short thrusts to get you going. He knew the interspecies differences would make this nearly impossible if you and him weren’t so damn turned on right now.
Squelching noises filled the air as you took him in your pussy so well. Your noises of pleasure only encouraged him more, and he swore to himself he wouldn’t cum until you did.
“Fuck! You’re so fucking wet and tight around me,” he said breathlessly.
“Mmm, feels so good, more!!” You shamelessly begged as he sped up his thrusts.
“God you’re so good at this. Taking me so well.” he groped your tit some more with his free hand, marveling in the way they bounced around from his steady and hard thrusts.
You moaned loudly and felt your orgasm approaching as the pleasure intensified. You reached down to rub your little nub and threw your head back, screwing your face up.
“I bet you’re so wet because you like being recorded, hm? You like being a filthy whore every once and a while?” He degraded you, but he was right, and God, it only turned you on more.
“Yeah everyone, look how she’s rubbing her clit and trying so hard to cum. How pathetic,” he spoke to the ‘audience’. The thought of someone else watching this was all you needed to finish. You came hard around him.
“Fuckkkk!!” You screamed and kept rubbing your nub quickly. You felt warm liquid coat your hand and splash around.
“Holy shit!! We’ve got a squirter!” Lo’ak said in awe and surprise, continuing his thrusts but they got sloppy as his orgasm overtook him too, not being able to hold back anymore at the sight of you squirting on him.
“Shit, I’m cumming!” He announced and came inside of you, somehow finding more room in there to put his cum.
Your combined sounds of pleasure and heavy breaths rang through the air. You were both a sticky mess from sweat and cum.
He lowered the camera and ended the video, laying it to the side as he collapsed on top of you. You were both trying to catch your breath.
“Well, that wasn’t what I had in mind for what I was going today,” he joked.
You snickered. “Yeah. You’re telling me.”

can u make a enemies to lovers with neteyam or jake? x fem!reader? xx!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Gifs not mine)
Pairing: Jake Sully/fem!reader
Summary: Y/n doesn't like being outranked by Corporal Jake Sully, and Jake doesn't like Corporal Y/n's attitude. This rivalry eventually stretches past their human existence.
Warnings: Military attitude, one-way thinking, implied brutal death, enemies to tolerated allies to lovers, alien prejudice/racism? (that one's a little tough to word I guess), swearing, etc.
Word Count: 2k+
A/N: Thank you for your patience, and sorry it took so long!
Also, Jake and Neytiri don't end up getting together and having kids in this one. I couldn't bear to do my Mama dirty like that.
~~~~~~~~~
Corporal Y/n L/n was many things. Tough, capable, determined, and loyal. The RDA was lucky to have her... at least that's what she tells people. No task was impossible and no mission was too dangerous. Y/n followed her orders down to a tee, so you could imagine the anger she felt when her loyalty was shoved aside in exchange for wheelchair-bound Corporal Jake Sully.
There's no such thing as an ex-marine, and yet Y/n has never met the next closest thing until she met Jake. Honorably discharged after the loss of his legs in Venezuela, Jake was only in Pandora for the sake of the RDA not having to waste millions of dollars on an avatar whose rider, Jake's twin, is dead. Technically, Jake shouldn't have been mingling with the war dogs at Hell's Gate and should've stuck to the scientists. But Selfridge and Quaritch had other plans and had asked Jake to go undercover as their eyes and ears among the Na'vi.
Y/n didn't think Jake deserved all the credit he had been given after he managed to insert himself with the Omatikaya, and she voiced her opinion to him, "What'd you have to do? Bat your cat eyes at them?"
Jake knew when he was being mocked, clenching his jaw and narrowing his eyes back at her, "They accepted me after I told them I was a warrior from a neighboring clan."
"Seriously? What clan?"
He had the gall to look bashful in front of her, the tips of his ears turning pink while muttering under his breath, "The Jarhead Clan?"
She laughed in disbelief and likely disgust, "Are you kidding me? 'They fell for that? If it's that easy, maybe Quaritch doesn't need you after all. I bet we could just walk in there claiming we're all from the Jarhead Clan."
"They're smarter than they look, and I don't see you volunteering yourself to communicate with them." The marine sassed back, his attitude getting the better of him.
"They're not worth my time," Y/n shrugged, nonchalantly, "They're clearly not smart enough to handle me if they ate up your punk ass lies."
"You don't exactly have anything better to do. Other than complaining, I guess."
She snaps her attention back to the man in the wheelchair, eyes glaring into his soul. It wasn't every day someone had the guts to match Y/n's cold exterior, and she didn't appreciate being badmouthed by the rookie who just got a lucky shot of working the same rank as her, "Watch yourself, Sully."
He smiled, the bastard, turning his chair in the direction he wanted to go, wheeling away, "I gotta head out. Unlike some folk, I actually have a mission to accomplish."
~~~
The scientists were moving out. Apparently, Dr. Augustine was spooked at the idea of Parker breathing down the neck of her operation so she's bringing her avatar team up to Site 26 in the mountains, Sully included.
Y/n was strutting down the hall and happened to catch Jake after he left the control room to let Quaritch know what was going on. She noticed a suspicious-looking smile on the marine's face and something didn't sit right with her at the sight of it. Without much thought, she held her foot out and it abruptly stops the wheelchair in its tracks. Jake peered up at her, his smile quickly fading when he realized who it was, his jaw tightening.
"You're smiling." She stated her observation out loud, gracing him with a frown to match, "It's not a good look, much less a normal look for you. Just remember whose side you're on, Sully."
How could she have possibly known what he might be thinking? She couldn't have known he was smiling at the thought of getting away, wanting to forget all about this place in exchange for seeing this world through the eyes of Neytiri.
No. There's no way she could know that. As suspicious as Y/n was, she was blind to everything Jake has experienced out there. He leans close, staring up at her with those hard, daring eyes, "I do. My side."
~~~
It bothered Y/n to learn Jake had betrayed them. Did she expect it? Obviously. So it bothered her all the more that she expected it. She could have prevented this by stopping Jake from leaving or reporting him to Quaritch, so why did she let him go?
She decides that she can fix this mistake by helping blow up Hometree and further help in the battle waiting for them in the Hallelujah Mountains.
Did she feel regret watching the magnificent tree crash down, likely killing hundreds of Na'vi in the process? Only for a moment, her mindset now on her orders to return back to Hell's Gate. Best foot forward, she manned the gun as they flew to the Tree of Souls, only to be ambushed by the Na'vi, astride direhorses, and ikran. Y/n didn't feel regret gunning down as many as she could after watching the bastards kill her friends and acquaintances, people she worked with for years and formed bonds with living on a moon so far away from home.
She was thrown from her gunship, however, before she could fully enact her revenge. As she fell to her death, she watched the battle going on above her. She watched her gunship being tossed around by the devil itself, the Great Leonopteryx, larger than any ikran she had ever seen. The beast and its rider, Toruk Makto himself, smashed Y/n's gunship against the side of one of the floating mountains, and she's forced to watch it explode in debris and flame. Her heart drops, however, when the blades of the ship came spiraling through the air and toward her falling form.
That was the last thing she remembered before everything went black.
~~~
FIFTEEN YEARS LATER...
Instead of black, she's blinded by an overly bright hospital light. Only, Y/n wasn't in a hospital and she felt like she was lying on top of a stainless steel dissection table. Disorientated and sore, Y/n focused on the voice of the doctors (were they doctors?) surrounding her field of vision. They instruct her to take it easy and flex her fingers. When she lifts her hand to do so, she's suddenly wide awake and self-aware.
Her hand was blue.
~~~
Following her resurrection came the other Recoms of Project Phoenix. Z-Dog and Wainfleet were next, then Ja, Brown, Fike, Lopez, Prager, Walker, Warren, Mansk, and Zhang. Most of them she knew back at Hell's Gate, or at the very least was acquainted with them. Finally, Quaritch came to and Y/n couldn't lie how entertaining it was to watch the colonel wake up and immediately kick in his fight or flight mode. It didn't help that Lyle thought it would be a great idea to greet Quaritch with his new ugly avatar mug. Later on, Wainfleet admitted that he already forgot about his new body and didn't think how the colonel would react, and in response, Y/n laughed and called him an idiot.
~~~
Their temporary resurrection and reunion were cut short when they arrived back on Pandora. Quaritch gets them to work immediately after receiving his orders from Ardmore and the Recoms are sent out into the wild to test out and see if the moon would react to their presence. So far, they hadn't triggered any immune response. No animal attacked them and the plant life kept still. The new and improved avatars track down the old shack where Quaritch breathed his last breaths, locating his remains and extracting the old footage from the AMP suit.
What they didn't expect to find there was a human boy, running around, acting like one of the Na'vi, apart from his breathing mask and exo-pack. He was about sixteen and clearly someone who had been left behind in the initial evacuation when the humans were driven off Pandora. When they captured him, he introduced himself as Spider Socorro, none other than Paz and Quaritch's son. But Spider wasn't very adamant at the idea of the colonel standing over him being his sperm donor.
"You're not my father! My Dad is Toruk Makto! He's on his way to save me! He knows I'm here, and he's going to kill every single one of you!"
That bit of information only enraged Quaritch even further, and Y/n couldn't exactly blame him. First, Jake betrayed his own kind, killed many humans, forced them to go home with tails tucked between their legs, and now he's raised Quaritch's son up and brainwashed him to be an animal.
The Recoms take Spider's threat to heart and secure him, keeping him tied up in the center of their circle as they wait for Ardmore to come and pick them up. It was dark and it had started to rain. They kept their backs to each other and kept their eyes peeled on the jungle line. And yet, they never saw him coming.
It was all a blur. Due to the darkness and the rain, Y/n was one second too late to realize that she had been separated from the group as the Recoms were getting picked off, one by one. There was the familiar sound of a grenade launcher being triggered before Y/n had the time to dive down and cover herself to the best of her ability. The explosion goes off somewhere nearby and her ears begin to ring, debris of dirt sprinkling down on top of her. The shouts from her team slowly die away, following the sound of Ardmore's ship picking them up. She tries catching her breath, her mind not yet realizing what had happened just as hands began to grab at her shoulders, her instincts driving her to fight or flight mode.
She kicks them away and scrambles to put a distance between herself and the stranger, lifting her AR in her arms and pointing in their direction. In front of her stood a tall Na'vi man, only he had the traits of an avatar-- a very familiar avatar.
The snarl she let out wasn't as human as she was used to. It was more feral and she tried not to let it surprise her, "Shit. Sully."
Jake Sully's eyebrows furrow at the voice, eyes frantically scanning her form. Definitely an avatar but dressed in camo and currently pointing an AR at his face. The voice sounded strangely familiar, but it wasn't until he noticed the name patch on her bulletproof vest did his eyes widen in recognition. He peered back up at her eyes, tilting his head, "L/n?"
She cursed again, rage pooling through her eyes as she gnashed her sharp teeth at him, "Traitor!"
Y/n goes to pull the trigger, but something from behind had clubbed her in the crook of her leg, forcing the limb to give in and collapse against her will. She shouts and the trigger slips, the gunfire missing Jake by an inch as he barrels forward when the moment of opportunity strikes. He wrestles the rifle out of Y/n's hands and pushes her to the ground, using the orange slap-cuffs she possessed and using them against her, restraining her hands behind her back. Y/n snarls and hisses like a wild animal caught in a trap, her ears and tail lashing violently as she's forced face down into the mud, the whole front side of her wet and cold with the rainfall still pouring like nobody's business. With her head tilted off to the side, she realized her attacker was none other than Spider with a large branch still heavy in his hands. With his captive secure, Jake stood up and stepped toward the human boy, kneeling down to meet his height and checking him over for injuries or cracks in his mask.
"You alright, kiddo?"
"Yeah," Spider breathes, smiling faintly when Jake gently knocks his knuckles against the glass of his mask affectionately.
"Good. Let's get you home. Your sister's probably worried sick."
That was news to Y/n. From what she understood, Quaritch and Paz only had Spider, unless the colonel was getting around. Looking back, Paz could have cozied up to others, but from the few encounters Y/n had with her, she didn't seem like the type. Socorro was high maintenance.
Still left on the cold, wet ground, Y/n continued to struggle until Sully remembered that she was there, and the bastard had the gall to smile down at her while patting Spider's shoulder proudly, "Well, son... not bad for your first catch."
"Go to Hell!" She screeched back. This had gotta be the worst night of her life.

Keep Me Ablaze
Jake Sully x Neytiri x Fem!Reader
—-
a/n: i don’t think you guys are gonna like this but i hope you all enjoy anyways!!
Chapter Twenty- To Die For
—-
“Aunt Grace?”
Your voice is small, right at the end of her bed, but some instinctual part of Grace that has adapted and evolved to fit you will always hear you.
She rubs the sleep out of her mind, let’s her mind wander to the worst, but when she sits up there’s no blood to be found anywhere on you.
“Oh,” she breathes, feeling slightly better. She cannot handle losing you too. “What’s wrong, baby? Can you not sleep?”
She hopes it’s just something like that, so she can just wrap you in her arms and drift back off to sleep. But you look so small at the end of her bed, stuffed animal tucked to your chest, eyes downcast. She knows it is not just that, and her heart hurts, she has never wanted you to feel anything other than happy.
“C’mere,” she urges, holding her hands out, and it takes you a moment but you walk over. She picks you up, helps you sit on the bed. “What’s wrong, baby?”
You let out a soft sound that starts like a cry, and Grace has never wished more for her sister to be here.
“Aunt Grace, why don’t I have a Mom?”
She thought she had a few more years until you asked, more time to mourn, more time to figure out what to say. She doesn’t know what to say, not know. How is she supposed to tell you something like this?
It’s almost like the two of you have been living in a glass cage, and she is taking a mallet to it.
“Why don’t I have a Dad?” you continue, eyes wide and fixed on her face, shiny with tears in the light from the moon that slips through the window.
“Oh, baby…” she whispers. She feels nothing like the woman she knows she is. She feels nothing like a guardian to you, an aunt, someone to love you. “You do have a Mom and Dad.”
“I do?” you are just a child.
She puts her hand on the side of her face. “Yes.”
“Where are they?” you are just a child.
She hates this world for being so cruel, she hates the world for taking so much from before you even knew what they meant to you.
“They’re… not here,” is the best she can come up with. She almost can’t be the one to tell you they’re dead. “You’ll see them, one day.”
“A small time?” you ask hopefully, those bright and curious Augustine eyes staring right at Grace. “Or a big time?”
She rubs her thumb over your cheek.
She can’t break it to you, she can’t be the one to break you.
“You’ll see them, one day,” she says.
—-
“One three,” Grace says, wrapping her arms around Jake’s legs.
You tentatively place your hands under his back, feeling like you’re betraying The People as well, like you’re just as bad as him.
“One,” Norm starts, “two, three!” he grunts, and the three of you manage to get Jake into the helicopter.
You take a deep breath, reach for his wheelchair, but Grace grabs it before you can. The gunshots start. You flinch, but you’re used to the noise by now. They’re not quite near you, not at this position.
“Get on!” she shouts over the whirring of the helicopter blades, ready to take off and take you far away from here. It’s easy to leave Hell’s Gate, this place was never a home for you.
You look Grace up and down, but she is already picking the wheelchair up, so you turn. You crawl on, towards the bench in the middle, panting from the running and the thrill. Adrenaline pumps in your veins like a second supply of blood, making you feel so alive and on top of the world.
In this moment, with the gunshots ringing in your ears, the sound of the helicopter blades becoming everything, cool metal under your palms as you steady yourself against the bench, wind whipping around, a thousand colors bursting behind your eyelids- you have never felt more alive.
“Grab my hand!” Norm shouts, and you open your eyes to find him tugging her on. “Come on, we’re in. Let’s go!” he shouts to Trudy, and you start to lift off the ground.
The realization comes fast and quick, like a strike of lightening. The sides are open wide, and with the way the helicopter is turning, where you are, where the bullets are coming from- they’ll hit you unless you duck.
You mean to do it, you really do, the world is just all too much and too loud and your adrenaline is fading and you can barely think-
“Y/N!” someone shouts, before a body slams over top you. You groan as your head hits the metal bench, but something like the forest fills your nose, even though you’re still at the base.
The base smells of metal and humans, not like the forest. That smell has been burned out of the air, here.
But it’s the forest overtop you, covering you like a blanket.
The gunshots stop for a moment, and the helicopter finally finishes its turn, now moving straight away from the base.
“Are you okay?” a voice asks, a hand brushing back your hair, rough, a warrior’s touch. But the motion is still soft, it’s simply the pads of his fingers that are textured and wrinkled. “Are you hurt? Baby? You ok?”
When your open your eyes, Jake is on top of you, but he pulls back his hand, using it to help himself sit up straight.
You burn with and without his touch.
You tell yourself it’s just the memory, but you know a part of him is forever burning inside of you.
It’s like you can never escape him, and this is all so normal, and it all comes rushing back.
You push against his chest, and he lets you, eyes roaming over your body to see if you’re hurt.
“I can take care of myself,” you spit. He chuckles to himself, staring at your thigh and smiling, tongue touching his canine tooth. When he looks up, you can’t stop looking at him.
“Never hurts to have some extra help, sweetheart.”
You pull in your bottom lip and sneer at him. “I don’t need your help. I don’t,” you say, but your voice holds an undercurrent of something you wish wasn’t there. Doubt. Love.
“Well it sure looked like it.” Everyone else is shouting and laughing, celebrating the victory, but your entire world narrows down to him and you. To this moment.
“I don’t need you,” you hiss.
“Doesn’t matter,” he shrugs, staring at you hard for one more second, eyes like a fire on yours, until he turns away. “Would still die for you, even if you hate me.”
I do, you want to say. I hate you. You betrayed me, betrayed Neytiri.
But you don’t. Because he saved your life, and you love him even after all of this.
You swallow quick, slide your hand along the metal.
You watch as the tip of your middle finger touches his pinky, and then you watch as he places his pinky over the ends of your fingers. When you don’t move away, because in this moment you really don’t think you can, his hand slides into yours like it was made for him to be there.
“I hate you,” you whisper, as the both of your stare at your entwined hands.
He laughs. “I love you.”
Suddenly, Grace’s groan cuts through the air, taking your eyes away from your hands and towards her.
“This is gonna ruin my whole day,” she chuckles, and when your eyes meet hers, they’re wide, in fear, in love, you don’t know.
She looks down to her stomach, and you follow her gaze, see the blood spurting out from behind her hand.
It’s like a blooming flower, you think, before your throat forms a sob and tears stream down your face.
