I am 25 years old. My pronouns are she/they. Most of my free time is spent reading, working out, or cooking.

About my studies

My bachelor's is in religious studies. I also studied Mandarin and Classical Chinese in undergrad.

I am currently getting my master's in library and information sciences.

I am learning Mandarin and Classical Chinese, Japanese, and Sanskrit.

Oh my god. I actually have a nemesis. It's the scholar who wrote one of the best articles on my thesis topic where they perform a lot of truly spectacular close readings yet somehow end up reaching the exact opposite conclusion that I do, to the point where one of their quotes summarizes half of my thesis but in the exact opposite way of what they meant by it

So I am currently trying to incorporate the suggested corrections for my article and I love how inattentively they read it. "You mention the contract here, but only explain what it means on the next page"...Miss girl, I explained this contract in the introduction and what gets explained on the next page is a completely different contract!

about me: my name is avery; i'm 24 and currently based in the southwest USA. i am a first-year phd student in environmental engineering, with research focused on bioremediation. in undergrad, i studied plant biosciences and philosophy, both of which fueled my interest in building a world where everyone can enjoy a clean, healthy environment.

aside from school, i love being outside, reading (esp by huxley, butler, leguin, burroughs, and nietzsche), raving, drawing, gardening, and hanging out with my cat.

i’m rose :)

i’m starting the last year of my master’s so i figured i’d give this gradblr thing a shot for the accountability if nothing else, since i have to write my thesis now (oh no)

my last year of university was completely online, and while that was definitely the best + safest thing to do, it did leave me feeling a bit disconnected from my studies. so i’m hoping this blog will help me feel more engaged again :)

but hello, again! my name is frances (he/him/his), i’m 23 & i’m entering my first year of my master’s program. i’m studying educational leadership with a concentration of higher education! i graduated in the spring with a bachelor’s in sociology.

i’m going to be using this account to kind of journal my progress through my program + some of the other things i’m up to, including student involvement, any grad assistantships/internships i have, and other projects. also i will be sharing the new planning/organization strategies i try, since i tend to cycle through them depending on my workload, and i am still trying to nail one down that i will keep using.

gradblr intro (1 year anniversary!)

Today, I am celebrating (read: patting myself on the back for) the one-year anniversary of my studyblr! But not only that, I am also leveling up, and introducing this blog as a gradblr!

So, this first anniversary thing...

I am the former queen of abandoned blogs, and shocked that have managed to avoid that title for a sixth time. This is my first studyblr, and my last, I am confident in that! There are thousands of you following my adventures now, which still sounds ridiculous. I love linguistics so much that if I had to study it alone for the rest of my days, I would gladly do so. But, I am happy to have you along for the ride. :-]
