!2/11/22 Leake Street, so good to be back in its crazy organic vibes, layers constantly being added to and the great ability to really connect to those who like your work. Tourists really enjoy the space and seemed to enjoy this flower version of Max The Virus. Really enjoyed meeting Ghost Format whose ghost character interacted with Max The Virus with some fun results. The Smurf version is still standing!

Paint Roller!
I already drew Paint Roller myself for the Kirby Character Project, but I didn't have the heart to leave him out of the guest artist collaboration, so just nobody tell him okay? His art style is very simple and flat but really appealing because of it. It's like striking graffiti or something. As an artist that's always on the move, it makes sense his art would be so simple, I suppose. Seems like all these artists have the same abilities.... none of them have any side hobbies or anything? Maybe cooking or something? Guess not.

Dmitry Aske is a Russian artist who came to contemporary art with experience as a graffiti writer. Born in 1985 in Moscow, he studied to become a graphic designer. Since the 2000s worked in graffiti, illustration and graphic design. Aske has developed his own recognizable style: the artist composes an image from several hundred fragments, reminiscent of mosaic, relief and stained glass, filled with bright local colors. At the same time, the style of these three-dimensional paintings refers to computer graphics, reminiscent of frames from animated films or images seen in virtual reality glasses. Aske himself says that his work is influenced by Lego, video games, Soviet mosaics and posters, which remained in his memory from childhood.
The artist has collaborated with such famous brands as Nike, Reebok, Sony PlayStation, etc. Since 2005, he has participated in group exhibitions in Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Mexico, Russia, and the USA. The first personal exhibition took place in 2016 at VLADEY Space. The works are in private Russian collections. Currently, Dmitry Aske creates outdoor large-format sculptures and interior multi-layered plywood reliefs.

I love seeing graffiti on cargo trains because they travel all over you know? Many of them stop in several major cities or even go from coast to coast on their tracks. Did this train pick up that tag in Atlanta or Detroit? Does the person tagging in Chicago know next week that tag will arrive in la? That another artist will add their tag right next to it? A collaborative art piece from people who will likely never meet?

Forward, but Never Forget/XOXO - Ch: 23 - Sumpside Waltz (Part II)
Tumblr media
The streets widen. Vi's steps slow. Ahead, a wall is bathed in a halo of lustrous lantern-orange light. A knot of Fissurefolk are gathered under its glow. Some smoke cigarettes and whisper somberly among themselves. Others kneel, their features cast in shadow. Their lips stir; their heads are bowed.
Vi realizes they are praying. To what, she can't tell. But whatever they believe in, it's not a goddess flung from the sky.
Their faith is rooted in flesh.
Her sister's flesh.
Vi stops short. Her eyes take in the mural. It covers the wall in its entirety. Gang insignias splash the charred base. Layers upon layers, an impasto chronicling the fall-and-rise of the Undercity's history. First the purple ruff of the Sledgerunners. Then the red carnation of Corina Veraza. Third, the stylized filigree of the Hush Company. Fourth, the vertical pistol of the Slickjaws.
Last is the Eye of Zaun—a typographical twist of Silco's name. A taunt in plain sight.
The mural itself is a masterclass of collaborative styles. Dozens of artists have contributed with angular scrawls of graffiti; cartoonish caricatures of folk art; cubist abstractions of bas relief. And yet the central figure is unmistakable. A girl balanced on a rocket like a surfboard. Her blue braids fly in twin comets. Her grin is both bloodthirsty and sugar-crazed.
VISIT ZAUN BEFORE ZAUN VISITS YOU.
A rallying cry for chaos.
AO3 - Forward, But Never Forget/XOXO
FFnet - Forward, But Never Forget (XOXO)
Playlists, Fanarts & Meta
Summary:  Zaun is free—and must grow into its unfamiliar new dimensions. So must Silco and Jinx. A what-if that diverges midway through the events of episode 8. Found family and fluff, politics and power, smut and slice-of-life, villainy and vengeance.

Jean-Michel Basquiat was an influential American artist known for his neo-expressionist and graffiti-inspired artwork during the 1980s. Here's a brief summary of his life:
Jean-Michel Basquiat was born on December 22, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York City. He had a tumultuous upbringing and dropped out of high school at an early age. Basquiat started as a street artist in the late 1970s, using the pseudonym SAMO (short for "same old shit"). His graffiti was characterized by its social and political commentary.
In the early 1980s, Basquiat transitioned from street art to the art world, gaining recognition for his raw and emotionally charged paintings. He often combined text and imagery in his work, addressing themes like race, identity, and class. His unique style and powerful visual storytelling quickly made him a prominent figure in the art scene.
Basquiat collaborated with the artist Andy Warhol, and their work together was widely recognized. His art was featured in numerous exhibitions, and he became one of the youngest artists to exhibit at the prestigious Kestner-Gesellschaft gallery in Germany.
Despite his meteoric rise, Basquiat's life was marred by personal struggles, including issues with substance abuse.
Tragically, he died of a heroin overdose on August 12, 1988, at the age of 27.
Today, Jean-Michel Basquiat's artwork is celebrated for its profound impact on contemporary art, and his paintings continue to fetch high prices at auctions. His legacy lives on as a symbol of artistic innovation and social commentary.
•••

Taylor Schultek's "Chaotic Neutral."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Currently on view at Gallery Poulsen in Copenhagen until April 29th, 2023 is artist Taylor Schultek's solo exhibition, "Chaotic Neutral."
New York-based painter Taylor Schultek, who first appeared at Gallery Poulsen in 2016, has become an integral component of the gallery's identity through two solo exhibitions and numerous group shows both in Copenhagen and at international art fairs. Schultek now prepares to launch his third solo exhibition in collaboration with Gallery Poulsen, titled Chaotic Neutral, which features hyperrealist representations of contemporary urban life.
Schultek's urban landscapes weave together subcultures, modern narratives, and virtual spaces, drawing from his personal experiences in New York City, memories, and digital realms to depict our current place in time. Schultek's artistic practice is rooted in graffiti, which informed his understanding of urban life's nuances and expressions. His figurative narratives blend elements such as personal interests, intimate city spaces, technological advancements, and societal anxieties. Simultaneously, his works incorporate digital aesthetics, using back alleys, underground tunnels, trains, rooftops, and virtual spaces to construct an autobiographical space balancing between fiction and reality. While Schultek's paintings may appear dystopian, they serve as a means for both the artist and the viewer to engage with and appreciate the present moment, reflecting on their relationships with their ever-evolving surroundings.

Hi Palooza denizens! We are so happy with how the discord has grown over its first month and to celebrate we would like to host a little anniversary event over the next few days: An opportunity to be in the discord’s banner by participating in a collaborative magma project!
In a few days we will be opening a magma board so that members of the palooza can collaborate together and create our official banner for the discord server! To join in all you have to do is RSVP via the sesh.bot post in the #event-schedule channel! Then on June 20th we will be letting people into the magma- not to draw but to reserve a spot on the board for their sona (this is to make sure everyone who wants to join in has enough space). Finally on June 21st we will formally open the magma for people to begin the collab!
We hope for as many people as possible to join in, and large collabs can be very chaotic- so please please make sure to read the rules and our guide before participating!
Thank you so much for helping us reach this far! It has been so heartwarming to see what was once just a small project, grow so big and reach out to so many people. It has been our greatest pleasure to be apart of something so wonderful <3
How to participate:
You must be a part of the Palooza Discord in order to join, as we will drop the magma link in the server. -RSVP to the sesh bot Banner Event on discord (this helps us figure out how much space everyone needs) -Join the magma on the designated day (TBD) to ‘reserve’ your character space, Which is on 20th June. -When the magma is officially opened, draw your character with others on the page. Sonas and AU characters are fine!
Make sure you finish your addition to the banner in a timely manner! Layers with unfinished drawings will be hidden after a couple of days.
Rules:
No NSFW
Signatures won't be legible at the size the header will be displayed, so no text please!
Be considerate of the amount of space you are taking up on the banner with your addition.
ADD don't DETRACT: does what you are doing add to the artists work, or are you just defacing/graffiti-ing for a joke?
Finish your drawing once you have started.
Only one character/sona per account.
Please refer to the Trigger warning list in Announcement and avoid doing those!
And lastly, have some fun with everyone!
Event duration: June 20th- June 30th 2023
☆ Stay tuned for more upcoming events! ☆

Kind of funny im collaborating with hellz during Ramadan, he’s actually a very nice positive guy; anyways my names kevyn as you may know which rhymes with my favorite things ‘7’ and ‘heaven’ so out of that ‘heaven n hellz’ is born. Our love for art and NYCS art culture that built us lead us on this road here along with all the ascendance of our interpersonal journey from hell to heaven as a spiritual state of being, learning to balance your yin with your yang to become your best self in the sight of your highest self, the higher power and/or Allah Subhana Wata’Ala.
