when you're tagged you need to list 5 things that make you happy. here are mine

my cat Poppy sleeping on my bed right now. she's been sleeping a lot in my room recently and it makes me feel good. i love her and my other cats Chico and Kitty very much

being able to do work i enjoy - very fulfilling. rare opportunity i feel like i had to grab. first experience too but i'm learning

my current situation! still feels unreal after almost 6 months of being back. i feel like i have so many opportunities for the future and i can finally do things with my friends and meet new people see new places etc :-)

sort of related but honestly it's important to me : getting 99% of my stuff (books, vinyls/CDs, trinkets, DVDs, clothes, whatever) back. I was away for a year and a half and thought I had lost everything but god it felt good having all of that back lol.

I would say good weather because it was amazing last week, summer temperatures, but there has been a rainstorm for the past 2 days or so. So I guess i'll say the good weather to come and all that comes with it - summer time...

I would call this one more accessible than #GravitysRainbow with the character work of #EmpireFalls and a touch of Phillip Roth's #AmericanPastoral...

Spending a few weeks of the biter winter in the southern hemisphere was the best vacation Rian could think of. It just so happened that he had a contract in Fiji, and so he asked Dominic to come along with him, reassuring the other man that his target would take no longer than an hour or two to take care of, and that he would meet Dom at the restaurant at the beach that had been recommended to them by the local who was renting them their beautiful beach home.

He woke early to take care of business -- pulling himself out of bed, all tangled up with Dom’s limbs. It had been difficult, but he reminded himself that all of his attention could be focused on his lover once his work was done. This time, Rian was posing as a local -- a massage therapist whose parents had been expatriates who moved to Fiji before his birth. He fell into his role easily, walking into his target’s room, seeing the fleshy male sprawled out, face down on the table. He had the quick, fluttering thought that this was going to be easy.

Rian went to work, rubbing the man’s back and shoulders. He slowly moved up to the neck, enduring the mans roaming hands and rushing fingers, playing along with his small talk. He was just about to make the break when the man’s large, hairy, ringed fingers wrapped around Rian’s delicate wrists and twisted them into an awkward position. Rian gasped slightly and struggled to free himself, but this man had come prepared. He knew why Rian was there, and thie shift of power had been too quick for the blond to counter. Before he knew it, the man had one of his huge mitts around Rian’s throat, his body thrown against the wall, a knife in the other hand. Rian caught sight of the clock and saw he was horribly late to meet Dominic. As little black spots began to filter into his vision, he hoped Dom would come looking for him -- that he’d find Rian and his target before the man had a chance to do what he wanted. But those seemed like the last, hopeful thoughts of a dying assassin as he struggled to get even one iota of oxygen into his weakening body.

Jesse wasn’t certain yet how he felt bout this Wyatt character -- some man the kid supposedly knew. Another mouth to feed, that’s how Jesse looked at it; another reason to sleep with one eye open.

The good days were followed swiftly and unforgivingly by the bad. Not only did Jesse have to force himself off his bed of old blankets every morning, but he had to deal with his own worst enemy -- himself. He was swallowed up by a cloud of dark thoughts and the incessant sound of his own voice, filling his head with a thousand thoughts he didn’t have the strength to combat on his own.

He was afraid they’d become comfortable and complacent; that they were sitting ducks. Of course, there’d been no concrete evidence that anything tumultuous would happen, Jesse simply expected it. He was quieter, more anxious, and fidgety. It was moods like this, back in the old days, that would have him looking for a tinfoil remedy to his problems. But those days were long gone, and he had to wait for the good moods to come back to him -- whenever they saw fit.

He’d kicked up such a stink about looking further that Wyatt had agreed to accompany him in the only direction left they had not searched -- Northwest. Jesse was almost positive the other man was only coming to get Jesse to shut up, but that suited him just fine. And he was up before the sun preparing for their journey.

He’d filled up some canteens for them and packed his backpack with water bottles, a first aid kit, and food. Then he waited patiently for the others to wake, what was left of the hog heated up on makeshift plates. Jesse sat with his back to the cellar door, picking at his food and readjusting the things in his pack until he heard the door swing open and turned to see Wyatt.

“Your breakfast is right there.” He said, jerking his head to a small metal tray with meat heaped on it. “I suggest you eat fast. I don’t want to burn any more daylight than I have to.”
