Just in case you thought that putting a Democrat in charge would make ICE any less monstrous: Russian men seeking asylum in the United States to keep from getting conscripted into the Ukraine invasion are being sent back to Russia, because fear of dying while being forced to commit a war crime does not rise to ICE's standards for "credible fear." So ICE is literally sending conscripts back to Russia to fight against Ukraine.

Merging Border Protection with the Immigration Service was a dumb-ass idea at the time, and the people managing it have consistently been the most monstrous people from either agency. Abolish ICE.

So Weird. So Many Milestones.

It’s become a tradition to wrap the past year of So Weird happenings. This year was more quiet than others, but in a blur of convention appearances, new merchandise, and Easter eggs (intentional and not), a few things stood out.

And looking back to compile this post made a recurring theme obvious. It’s in the title, but let’s make it a little more clear.

The So Weird Podcast only uploaded one episode, but it was a memorable one when writer Jon Weisman (and his wife, and their daughter) joined Mackenzie Gray for a live script reading of Strange Geometry with scenes not in the aired episode.

The podcast itself reached over 28,000 downloads and co-host Cat met Mackenzie Phillips real life, in person.

Our Weirdo community as a whole reached milestones too! In 2022 we surpassed

1000 followers on Instagram

800 YouTube subscribers

300 forum members

100 TikTok followers

This pushed our total number across all our platforms to over 7,000 Weirdos!

Our So Weird crew gave us reasons to be proud too.

Jon Cooksey and Tom Astle recounted history with The Look Back Machine. And with a few days before 2022 was all over, Tom shared that he discovered a new species and co-authored a paper about it.

That’s not a bad way to end a year that was different than recent ones but wasn’t a return to normal either.

When Peri went to Boarding School, Timmy was his “Primary Guardian” since his new apartment was closer to Peri’s school than their parents were. This meant that, on some occasions, Peri’s first call would be for Timmy instead of their parents.

Once, Peri got caught joyriding and ditching school campus against curfew. Timmy had to fly out to bail him (and Irep) out of the detention center. They crashed at his apartment while he worked with Anti-Cosmo to remove that incident from their records.
