Mae Sinema Pontio, mewn partneriaeth ag Off y Grid a phrosiect Gwnaed yng Nghymru Hwb Ffilm Cymru yn uno i gyflwyno rhaglen o ffilmiau arbennig ar gyfer Calan Gaeaf, sef Sabbath y Gwarchod o 28 – 31 Hydref.

Mae ffilmiau arswyd wedi hen brofi eu hunain fel un o’r genres ffilm mwyaf adnabyddus y byd sinema. Ymunwch â ni wrth inni ddathlu ac ymchwilio dyfeisgarwch a’r dychymyg sydd i’w weld mewn ffilmiau arswyd diweddar gyda rhaglen eang o ffilmiau, sydd â phwyslais arbennig ar deitlau sy’n archwilio arswyd a’r wrach Gymreig, gan gynnwys teitlau #GwnaedYngNghymru – Gwledd ac I Am Not a Witch. Yn ogystal, bydd y rhaglen yn archwilio datblygiad a hanes cymeriad y wrach mewn ffilm, llenyddiaeth a hanes Cymru.

Cewch gyfle i fwynhau ffurfiau traddodiadol byd y ffilm arswyd, sef y Double Bill a manteisio ar naws Calan Gaeaf y rhaglen. Mae cyfres Double Bill y byd arswyd yn cynnig profiad gwylio erchyll, amrywiol, brawychus a diddorol fydd yn diddanu ac yn ysgogi dadl a thrafodaeth. Byddwn yn dathlu talent Cymreig y gorffennol a’r presennol mewn double bill - The Medusa Touch, gyda Richard Burton a Saint Maud gyda Morfydd Clark, cyn archwilio’r cysylltiadau cudd a serebal sy’n bodoli rhwng gwaith David Lynch, Gwenno a gwaith arbrofol yr arloeswraig ffilm Maya Deren. Bydd GWLEDD yn dychwelyd i’n sinema yn dilyn ei ryddhad fis Awst, yn ogystal â dangosiadau o’r gwefreiddiol Suspiria (1977) a The Love Witch (2016).

Uchafbwynt ein rhaglen Sabbath y Gwrachod fydd dau bodlediad byw, am ddim yn ein sinema. I ddechrau bydd Mari Elen Jones, podledydd arobryn yn croesawu’r gwneuthurwr ffilmiau Ffion Pritchard mewn pennod byd o Gwrachod Heddiw, ble byddant yn trafod y wrach Gymreig fodern. I ddilyn bydd dangosiad o’r ffilm fer Annwyn. 

Off y Grid sy’n gwesteio’r ail bodlediad gyda Dr Nia Edwards-Behi (Gŵyl Ffilmiau Arswyd Ryngwladol Abertoir) yn cyflwyno gyda Mahara Sterling (awdur Welsh Witchcraft, a chyflwynydd podlediad The Welsh Witch) yn edrych ar hanes ehangach Gwrachod ar Ffilm, gan archwilio natur a rôl portreadau o’r fath o ferched fel ‘gwrachod’ mewn hanes sinematig. I ddilyn byddwn yn dangos y ffilm ddiweddar Lux Aeterna gyda Charlotte Gainsbourg a Beatrice Dalle.

So our exciting news is that we have now got a studio in Wales! 🥰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🥰We’ve been looking for somewhere for a long time and fell in love with this house. A beautiful evening sunset bubbling. The longer hours of light seem to give us more freedom, warmer temperatures, no coats, and that gorgeous feeling of being outdoors with a lush weekend stretching ahead. This is a picture of Ziggy, aged 4, that popped up out of the blue in my  memories on facebook. Whilst I know it's an algorithm that has churned away in the background,  these memories can be oh so beautiful.  And all the more precious for  being unexpected and forgotten. This image just brought flooding back waves of memories, of that cold  day, the sudden snow flurries, digging out my spare hat to pop on his  little rebellious head.  The clothes, the way he loved that jacket, and  the crinkly feel and sound of it when I used to pick him up for a carry  or a cuddle.  How we both loved those boots he was wearing, so  practical, fleece lined and proper waterproof, and easy to get onto  wiggling escaping feet, making them all cosy and warm. The plastic toy  from a magazine that he insisted on wearing on his arm, shooting  invisible arrows at innocent passer by's, and arrows that had the power  to make the bubbles even bigger. I can reach into this picture and remember the smell, the snuggley  cuddles, the joy of his favorite clothes and the endless muddy fun of  being outdoors. Take your little ones outside what ever the weather, take bubbles, take  smiles, take pictures.  You never know when those pictures will come  back with the most beautiful feel-good gift. Happy St David’s day! Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant Hapus!   And here is our image to celebrate! Diwrnod Santes Dwynwen hapus i pawb! Today is St Dwynwen’s day, the day of lovers, of love, of cariad and cwtch, and of something beautifully Welsh. The tale of Santes Dwynwen is a magical one, dating back through poems to the 14th and 16th century. Dwynwen was a Welsh princess, the most beautiful daughter of Brychan, a powerful king. She fell in love against her father’s wishes, and her love was tragically thwarted in a tale involving God and angels, magic potions and a block of ice. Eventually Dwynwen was granted wishes, and she wished to remain unmarried, but for God to look after all true lovers. To celebrate this, she built a convent on Ynys Llandwyn – one of the most beautiful places in the world, one which you’ll see in many of our Bubble pictures – and a site of pilgrimage for all Welsh lovers. Today, to celebrate we’re re-launching our ‘Love-a-Bubble’ Kit. And as a special extra we’ve got our lush vintage label too. The bubble mix is pink of course, and the bubbles, well, they may or may not contain a magic love potion. Or it may just be the bubbles. Our kit will be on sale from now through to St Valentine’s day on the 14th of February. Every day, every batch of our bubble mix gets tested. We test indoors, with various parameters, and then outdoors, so we can triple make sure the bubbles are tip-top and good to go. We are so lucky that this is where we work, and our outdoor space includes this beautiful area with the chapel. The daffodils and wood anemones are just finishing, in a few weeks we'll have the white wild garlic followed by carpets of bluebells.
