HtP Theory: Blue Man in a Pound Land 2 of 2

This is the second half of a theory, first half here Spoilers for Hunter the Parenting

Now there is a moment from the encounter I have neglected thus far: the final freaky “chief executive officer” moment. I think this supports my theory that both D and the Blue Man are members of the Fallen. D says that the face of the CEO which appears is slender and graceful, before he looks on in horror and says that the CEO is dead, fervently calling this out before big five night freddy jumpscare. I initially thought the CEO the Blue Man called forth was, ya know, the CEO of hell, the big man below, Lucifer. However, having done some WoD lore reading, Lucifer in the World of Darkness is… well he’s one of those mighty strange WoD characters, but I think in brief he is NOT stuck in hell and probably wouldn’t approve much of the nefarious deeds of the fallen. So I think instead the CEO was some demon lord, or other higher up evil figure which D would know from his own days in hell. A slender and graceful face could imply it is another fallen angel, they are known for being rather beautiful, and grace is a specifically divine quality. D says that the CEO should be dead, maybe because either he saw it die/get banished, or he knew it was supposed to still be in hell. Either way I think D recognizing the CEO was also not insignificant in figuring out what’s going on. There are a few other lines the Blue Man says which I think hint towards he and D being fallen, and the Blue Man recognizing D. There is the “do you have a membership?” interaction, which I think was the Blue Man implying early that he knew what D is, hence “Don’t be so sure” regarding D not having an account. Though it could have also been an attempt to get D to sign a pact, sneaky style (again, also a thing done by real world companies). And there is the more explicit “I. AM. YOU. OR MAYBE. SOMEONE ELSE.” Line, perhaps implying their connections as demons, or saying that D and the Blue Man are not so different. Maybe the Blue Man is the biblical Legion, not just one demon but many. This would fit with the idea of a soulless megacorp, would explain their desire to GROW (ie grow their numbers), and would give a reason for the CEO just showing up on the Blue Man’s face like that. Also, if D has been around for a long time, as a fallen seeking redemption maybe he hung around a certain carpenter and would have seen Legion cast out, thus giving a reason for “You’re dead”. However, I am not as sold on the Blue Man being Legion specifically, as much as I am him being some generic demon, because Legion did kinda ASK to be cast out from their host, and was cast out by the big JC, so I feel like they might not be around anymore.

So let’s talk about what is happening. Why is there a pit into potentially hell in the backroom of a 99p store. Well, I think the Blue Man’s mercantile nature helps to explain this. In WoD there are people who decide to summon up demons and make deals, these are infernalists. Infernalists need to have a knowledge of magic, which can be from many sources, to make the proper rituals to call up the forces of hell and talk to em. Basically every culture of creature in the world knows this is a bad idea and tries to prevent or weed out infernalists in their own ranks. Even the “survival of the fittest, ends justify the means, we should be on top” Sabbat heavily disapprove of summonin up some fiendish friends. But, the Clan Tremere has a real knack for ignoring social moors like that in favour of gaining power. The Tremere were not an original vampire clan, in fact they started as a bunch of wizards who sought immortality. I guess they decided alchemy was too hard so they chose to join the ranks of a group who explicitly call themselves cursed quite often. Great job guys. The way they did this involved eating an ancient vampire to gain his powers and forge a new magic-infused bloodline, this would be the diablerie of Salut that Big D calls out when talking to Kevin. Diablerie is ALSO a big nono in a lot of vampire societies. In brief, the Tremere will absolutely break rules if it means they can gain power. As a result a LOT of vampire infernalists are Tremere, and I think that’s what we’re seeing now. The regent is attempting to grow her power and influence by calling up the Blue Man and making deals, probably for better magic, or greater ability to influence other vamps. The Blue Man, and his CEO in turn, are using the Regent and her cronies to pull them out into our world, so they can wreak havoc and GROW. I believe the Tremere of Norfolk and Great Yarmouth are up to some real shady business, business which they do NOT know the full implications of, AND I think this points us to the next juicy morsel.

Ya see, the Tremere probably aren’t just using their own blood magic to talk with demons, they probably want some help. Perhaps some ghoulish help even. And a lil quirk about some vampire clans is that they have particular habits for who they will turn/ghoul. And with all these pieces together, I think I can tell you who the ghoul in the chapterhouse is.
