How can we imagine an wingle from Isla de Oof or a Temperocene hameleon?

Isla de Oof's most distinctive species is the greater oof: the largest species of the lemunkies and also the most aberrant, being a slow-moving, small-brained herbivore rather than its more intelligent and agile kin. But it is far from the only animal native to the isolated landmass: several other, smaller creatures have made their way to the island, and have settled there as well, scurrying about the greater oof's feet in the undergrowth.

Among these are wingles: tiny rattiles that have developed the capacity for flight with the aid of their modified scales that, over time, became gliding surfaces that eventually progressed to true flight. But like the pterodents and the ratbats before them, the wingles found themselves settling on islands with few or no dangers on the ground and empty niches to exploit: and thus, would abandon their greatest asset, their flight--but in a rather unusual way.

The fallen nephtile (Dystopteryx maximus) is the largest of the extant wingles, reaching lengths of about six feet including its tail. It far outclasses all other flying wingles, constrained in size by their more insect-like flight: having lost its flight, and with the adult bearing only vestigal stubs where its wings once were, it is freed to increase fiftyfold in size: taking on a role of omnivore feeding on a wide choice of diet, including fruit, leaves insects, small slow-moving prey and washed-up carrion on the coasts of the island.

But remarkably, they are not born this way: in their youth, the nephtiles are small and indeed flighted--resembling a far more typical wingle as a juvenile. One main constraint of the wingles' small size was being able to bear one young at a time, but as adult nephtiles are far larger, they can breed in bigger numbers--up to forty in a litter-- which stick close to the parent for some time until their wings grow in, at which point they disperse. This ability is kept only while they are small, as it allows them to evade predators such as pterodents and ratbats that might make an easy meal of them. However, as none of those predators are big enough to pose much threat to an adult nephtile, the juvenile eventually prioritizes size and bulk over flight. Eventually at about six months of age the youngster has grown too large to fly, and it is at this point that the wings, just modified hair, are finally shed, and here they live in the trees akin to most arboreal rattiles until they are large enough to be relatively safe to forage on the ground. Thus the nephtile fills three niches in the course of its life: aerial flier as a juvenile, arboreal climber as an adolescent, and ground-dwelling scavenger as an adult: allowing multiple generations of the same species to coexist with minimal competition.

Известный разработчик ПО для работы с мультимедиа Adobe объединился с британским дизайнером Кристианом Коуэном и создал носимую вещь на стыке моды и технологий. Модель прошлась в ней по подиуму на Неделе моды в Нью-Йорке. Ролик опубликован на YouYube-канале бренда, вы можете увидеть его ниже:

Речь идет о платье, которое меняет цвет. Его создали в рамках проекта Primrose. Adobe представила этот проект вместе с анонсом первого техноплатья в октябре 2023 года в рамках презентации MAX 2023: Sneaks. Старый вариант имел менее сложную конструкцию и выглядел не так стильно, как новинка, созданная в партнерстве с Коуэном.

В процессе создания платья важную роль сыграли собственные инструменты Adobe. Например, в Adobe Illustrator заложили основу, нарисовав гибкие печатные платы и эскизы узоров. С помощью Adobe After Effects вдохнули жизнь в платье, оживив его с помощью захватывающей анимированной графики.

Эффект «хамелеона» достигается за счет вырезанных лазером «лепестков» из диспергированных полимеров и жидких кристаллов. Они могут электронным образом менять узор несколько раз в секунду. Под каждым лепестком находится подложка с гибкой печатной платой, позволяющая лепесткам чередоваться и переключаться между оттенками серебра и слоновой кости.

I see where this is going now. Guess I'll try to think of whatever other hamster lineages in the Middle Temperocene that either aren't as common as they once were back in the Therocene/Glaciocene, reduced to one (or few) species, some small and insignificant ones that live on the mainlands but become bigger and more specialized on isolated islands, and/or haven't been brought up yet, etc. What about that Pangolin like Hameleon from Gestaltia that you mentioned plenty of times?

The hameleons are a group of early, basal rattiles that adapted to an insectivorous diet in a life up in the treetops. Equipped with grasping feet, long tongues, and hook-like scales on their tails, the hameleons were fairly successful in the Glaciocene but would dwindle in the end-Glaciocene mass extinction. The clade would be survived by bigger, hardier forms in Gestaltia's tropics, however, and in the Middle Temperocene the hameleons are not very diverse, but thriving in the few species they do have.

Knob-backed hooktails (Longiglossosauromys caudonyx), growing to over six feet in length, are the largest and most abundant and widespread of the extant species, being found across forests, grasslands, scrubland, hills, coasts and savannahs across Gestaltia's tropics. Anywhere warm and wet enough for insects to thrive is an ideal home for the hooktail, with digging claws, a long snout, a long sticky tongue and a complete lack of dentition characteristic of various myrmecophages. Lacking teeth entirely, the hooktail grinds its insect prey using minute spines on its tongue and palate.

Hooktails live primarily on the ground, but, still possessing the gripping toes and hooked tail of their arboreal ancestors, are fairly skilled climbers as well, scaling dead, dried-out trees to access termite nests breeding within. Slow-moving and never in a hurry, hooktails use their armor plates to good use to defend themselves from predators such as badgebears and pterodents, curling their head inwards to their chest and exposing their tough, hard backs to the claws and teeth of their would-be attackers.

Hooktails, perhaps surprisingly, are one of the few rattiles to have re-evolved parental care: long after their ancestors birthed numerous independent young able to fend for themselves and thus did away with the mammals' primary innovation: mammary glands that secrete milk. Yet this has opened up unusual new styles of care in the rattile lineages that re-evolved it, specifically ones centered on the male: hooktails pair up for the breeding season, with the male regurgitating food for the female during the duration of her gestation. Once she gives birth, to a litter of about a dozen young, she departs soon after: and the parental care now falls upon duty for the male.

The youngsters ride on the male's back for several weeks, being carried around and fed regurgitated food until they are too large for their father to carry around. Even after, they continue to follow him around as he leads them, mostly passively, toward food and away from danger, and at about two years of age they are nearly their adult size and thus gradually, and one-by-one, disperse from their parent's territory to seek out their own independent lives.
