The little pieces are bringing me joy this week. It is the same glaze on these two pieces. The top one was applied thick and smooth; bottom one applied thinner with a stiff bristled brush. I absolutely love them both. I don’t have a huge studio. A multitasking glaze like this is a big deal. My friend @dr.debs.pots challenged me to a food shot. Hers are way better, but I totally nailed her recipe. So yum! I got turned down for a show. I’ve never had my tea bowls rejected before. After 12 years of making them, it is probably about time. Artists need rejection occasionally (preferably very occasionally.) Otherwise I get too many “Yes Men” in my head. A critical eye is important. That said, the juror was asleep at the wheel. #mugshotmonday baby! I have been trying to make handles work on these for years! The shape of the cup always made the handle point down, and feel wrong. Well, that was because I always tried this in the Spring. 🌸 Wait. Why would that matter? . In Spring my tea bowls are more open so the tea can cool. The top half is a V. Autumn tea bowls are more U or even O rims to keep the tea warmer longer. Upright walls of Autumn shapes let the handle sit right and this tea bowl becomes a latte cup. It is going to fit perfectly in the espresso maker too.
