October is here! Time to pull out your sweaters, scented candles and spiced coffee, as we settle in for maximum Fall coziness!… Right after we’re done addressing the big corporate elephant who’s wandered into the room ^^0

Last month, Unity made a startling decision that had us scrambling for a few days.

Unity is the game engine we use for Arcadia Fallen. It’s a popular tool that’s used by many indie developers, and it used to run on a monthly subscription model. But this month they suddenly announced they would change their monetization to instead charge a set fee every time a game runs their installer; more specifically, they wanted 20 cents every time someone installed a game. This sparked quite the stir online, from developers, gamers, and influencers. It was actually quite refreshing to see the industry unified for once, though the circumstances were very…urg.  Eventually, Unity reconsidered these changes and came up with something more reasonable, but we still felt uneasy. Daniel’s been reading through the fine print, and we’re not comfortable with the terms Unity proposes going forward. The difference is, they used to only charge a subscription fee for developing Unity games, but now they have added an implicit fee for distributing Unity games, which they can change at a whim and the change would also affect previously released games under the new terms. When they decide to crank up the fee, there’s no telling how it might affect a small studio like us, which is scary.

So what does this mean for us?

We’re going to continue developing Arcadia Fallen II in Unity, because we’re still on the old terms for the project, but any future projects will likely be moved to another engine. It sucks, because we’ve been developing a lot of really cool tools for our dialogue system that will now have to be remade, but we can’t risk our livelihood and the future of the studio on the whim of unpredictable tech giants. Speaking of which!

We’re on Bluesky now as well!^^ If there’s one thing we’ve learned this month, it's that you should never become dependent on one mega corporation, so we’re trying to spread out a little. We’ll still be posting on Twitter, since Bluesky isn’t very accessible yet with their invite-only system, but hopefully it will be a good alternative to those who have left the old bird app.

Writing is progressing smoothly. Lots of editing of the early chapters is being done at the moment to polish that section. Meanwhile, Hannah’s new sprite is looking super cute. The Illusionist prefect is ready to take on her exams with determination, coffee, and sleepless nights… Wait what?

The sheer amount of effort my girl roro has put into her Steve is nothing short of magnificent. 💻 ― excellent writing: @sinfyre Ozzy, my beloved. Everything they write is worthy of being in a bestseller. It's poetic yet still easy to understand. Ozzy strikes a very good balance with it and I could easily fool myself that I'm reading a Madeline Miller book.

🌼 ― creative headcanons: @spynorth reading Lucas headcanons often shows how much effort my m8 puts into their research. Idk this muse but I feel like I do just from reading Lucas headcanons etc and it is one of the magic things about Lucas. They're just so dedicated to exploring their characters and I too feel that on a personal level. Our blorbos are our kids we didn't ask for.

🎙️ ― great to talk to: @clutchofmuses if I need to scream about tyrell siblings, Emily is the person to do it with. She's just so enthusiastic about them that it brings out mine too...not that I ever needed a nudge lol. But she always compliments and screams at me over the things I write for her and I'm just living for her friendship tbh. I knew I wanted to keep her right away.

📚 ― nice threads to read: I'm going to say two people and you can't stop me. @desiredprince just writes a really good lestat okay. everything they write is pretty much pure gold and I am here to devour it all. the duality of soft man and absolute lunatic is stunning. secondly, @n1atruc because it's heretic and I don't want a dash without them on it. the nuance in their crowley is an utter joy to read and how he's just so unapologetically him no matter the setting is chefs kiss levels of excellence.

🎀 ― all-around kind person: @outlawiism / @darehearts there is literally no one nicer in the Tumblr rpc than Lucy. We've been mutuals for a few years now and she always has positive things to say, and is such a good friend to those in need of one. She will always build you up when you're feeling down too. We truly aren't worthy of her. I remember a while back that she actually got burnt out from literally being too nice (I think this is correct? Plz tell me if otherwise), and I hope she has a better balance of it now. She deserves to chill.

📌 ― a staple on the dash: @musenssang whom I have known for years is pretty much on all of my dashes, and I can't imagine a dash without Lise on it. And like Lise knows so much about history so her asoiaf headcanons are far more interesting than grrms. I said what I said.

🏆 ― 10/10 blog, would recommend: @shadowcovcn for being one of the few people who will always offer to make a verse or find a way to interact with my muses even if they are from polar opposites universes and fandoms. Ace always finds a way and I admire them greatly for that, and it makes you realise that they really care tbh. I love ace. 😭

Match Review: Manchester United Women 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur Women

In what was dubbed a dress rehearsal for the Women's FA Cup Final on May 12th, United and Spurs managed to share the spoils - for now - but there were positive signs for United if they can sharpen up on goal.

Stats are a lovely tool to have, adding flavour to any match report and game analysis, and the stats - as shown below - point out two things: United were the side in control, and United should have won the game.

United's backline were instantly put under pressure in the first 30 seconds but United woke up and got a good footing in the game. Ella Toone came accidentally close in the 9th minute, trying to find Leah Galton at back post, but it was Melvine Malard who opened the scoring with a beautiful header off a millimetre perfect free kick from deep by Gemma Evans; lofted with the utmost precision for Malard to nod over the approaching Spurs keeper Becky Spencer.

Tottenham countered quickly with Naz and Vinberg - a sign of things to come - but were held off, and as quickly as they hit United, United hit back. Pressure onto Neville saw Naalsund pick up a loose ball outside the box, quick pass to Malard, pivot, shot, and then in the scramble between Spencer, Parris and Nilden, a free kick was given against United.

Poor positioning cost United for the equaliser, with a deep Spurs cross cleared out only as far as Spence. A scuffed volley bobbled the ball through to Beth England for an easy tap home past an aghast Mary Earps, but it was Maya Le Tissier - fresh from her contract signing - that stood out of sync with the rest of the defence and failed to play the offside trap. Frustrating.

United's second goal conceded was in similarly silly circumstances; Mary Earps screaming at Aoife Mannion to chase the loose ball, Mannion presuming Mearps has it, and Tottenham's Vinberg strolling in to play the ball into the box. Le Tissier covered well, with Mannion filling her void in CB momentarily, but wizardry from striker Jess Naz spun captain Katie Zelem and fizzed in a shot straight above Mary Earps' head. Poor from the keeper, poor from Zel, and poor from nearby Tooney who could have easily pressured Naz from that close range with a sprint to jostle. Maybe she was worried about giving away a penalty, but someone should have closed Naz down and forced her to choose the wider path towards a waiting Gemma Evans or to back off outside the box. A communication issue no doubt, given no Jayde Riviere or Hannah Blundell starting.

Blundell on for Mannion at half time made sense, and the second half saw more intensity and aggression from United; with far more crossing to pressure the Spurs defence in the air now that Blundell was on. 55th minute subs introduced both Lucia Garcia for Nikita Parris and Rach Williams for Melvine Malard, but the United couldn't quite find the net. Further subs in the 76th saw Miyazawa on for Toone and Geyse on for Galton, but it took a Gemma Evans corner in the 91st minute to find Rach Williams, the bar, bounce back out, and be crashed into by Maya Le Tissier to even the game up and give United a very much deserved point at Leigh Sports Village.

There will be frustration at United's failure to convert the oh-so-many chances in the second half, but the turnaround in United's style was a good sight to see, and on another day (say, the FA Cup final?) maybe several goals went in and this was a comfortable win rather than a consolation point. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- The disappointment doesn't end there though. Fans will also be concerned at the potential departure of United's tenacious Spaniard Lucia Garcia, whose contract is close to expiring and - based on Instagram - might not be renewed/extended.

And how we will miss her humour, as well as that unquestionable hard work on the field, if she does leave us. Another huge mistake from Manchester United Football Club if so.

Only three games remain in the WSL; Leicester away, Liverpool away, and Chelsea at Old Trafford - before which comes the FA Cup Final at Wembley. It's going to be a difficult few weeks, but the hottest fires produce the strongest steel...

Aston Villa vs Man United

just a few notes on Villa's performance vs United, mostly about Jordan :)

-Jordan was more physical than normal during this match; going in for challenges, blocking the ball ect, it takes her play up a notch imo. I really enjoyed watching her make tackles .

-Jordan RAN today, it was obviously gonna be a tough challenge to go up against Ona Battle, it's a shame she didn't manage to get the ball off of her leading up to United first goal, but I think she did a fantastic job, I'm STILL thinking about the sliding block. Jordan was heavily in tune with the game and was reading it really well, proud !

-Rachel Daly is DANGEROUS. I don't get why more people dont mark her on set pieces, she gets so many goals with set pieces/headers. Her run on the first goal was spectacular, she's a real aerial threat ! Breaking United's record of being the only WSL side this season to not have conceded from a set piece !

-Blindkilde Brown is a player with a lot of potential, she has good pace, I liked a lot of the runs she was doing today, her movement on the ball is really good. I think her and Jordan can have a good link up in the future potentially.

-Wish Jordan could've took her chances more, there were a few times were she was in a really good position to shoot, and then just passed it. I'm starting see that this is a reocurring thing, wondering if it could be a tactic ? Either way, she should shoot more :)

Hi, it's me again. Apart from having a rich older brother/father figure who's paying for my triple header tickets, I am also a young mum. And would you know I just got permission to take my 3 year and 7 year to Zandvoort. So my plans to punish Binotto and Ferrari for his/their hate crimes against the nation of Lestappen and Ferrari boys are as followed–

While I take another picture with my old man but this time with my 3 year old baby (why didn't I bring them last time, Fernando and babies...), I will set my 7 year old lose on Binotto (Who hates that Italian disgrace just as much as we all do, I am a good mother, teaching my kids to dislike the right people from young age). Hopefully my feral cat of a son will do enough damage to that man and his brain that he either becomes sane and starts making good decisions or just replaces the entire strategy team with clones of Hannah Schmitz. If not I'll just have to make another plan for Monza.

And I'm pretty sure JEV is Jean-Éric Vergne, former Toro Rosso driver.

Reading: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

I woke up feeling super bloated and gross today, so I'm pleasantly surprised that my weight hasn't gone up by much.  Not sure whether I ate something that offended the GI gods or am about to receive a certain monthly visitor. 

I think it may be the latter, as a quick glance at my Clue app says I'm due for my period in three days. That would also explain the weight fluctuation and the foul mood I'm in. *shrug* (Yes, gentlemen, avert your tender eyes; there will occasionally be mild period talk on this blog.) 

At least I've got therapy today. Pray I don't cuss anyone out in the intermediate 3.5 hours. 

I realize that yesterday I forgot to talk about my goals. The truth is, I don't have a specific number in mind as a UGW. I was 135 on my eighteenth birthday and 150 when I graduated from high school. Once I start seeing numbers that start with a 1, I'll probably fine-tune goals based on what feels the best and what seems realistic. 

There are also non-scale victories that are meaningful to me, like wearing certain clothing sizes, not needing shorts under dresses for chub rub, not needing a seatbelt extender to fly, and things like that. Also, just more movement and mobility in general. 

Some other benchmarks I care about: 

286 — no longer morbidly obese 

214 — no longer obese 

177 — no longer overweight

(I'm 5'11". Did I mention that? I feel like that's relevant here.)

However, I haven't found it to be helpful or productive in the past to set my sights on some lofty goal that feels (and probably is) years away. Instead, I want to focus really intensely on ten-pound increments. So right now, the only goal weight I care about is 329, since I'm in the 330s. Then it'll be 319, and so forth. Always something realistic and attainable to keep me moving forward. 

I have found that, when I focus on getting back to my high school weight or something, and I'm faced with a decision about food or movement, my thought process is "well, I'll never get there anyway; might as well make the bad choice." However, being 336 and aiming for 329, every decision feels like it matters because I'm super close to my goal. So, I think that, for me, this is probably the better way of going about it. 

Oh, and I ordered a new Fitbit (one of the new Charge 6 models) so, soon, I'll be able to share my daily steps with you. I guess I'll just add "yesterday's steps" or something to the header. 

Maybe eventually, once I'm more in the swing of daily blogging, I'll share food logs as well? Just an idea. What do you think? 

Anyway, that's probably enough for now. I'll talk to you guys tomorrow.
