I've seen a lot of people headcanon that Echo would have his iconic handprint tattooed on his chest after joining the Bad Batch, but I personally think if he got a tattoo that's not gonna be visible, it wouldn't be his one link to the 501st. If anything he'd want to display the handprint proudly like he had in the past.
After thinking hard about it, I finally decided on a tattoo that felt in line with Echo's personality specifically. Something personal that mostly stays hidden away but that he knows is there and is comforting to him.
Fives's Rishi Eel design is thusly tattooed on his back, and painted over his spinal cybernetic implants.
That way he can, in a way, always have his closest brother watching his back. Even from beyond the grave.

Saudade: A deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for something or someone that one cares for and/or loves. Moreover, it often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might never be had again.
As much as the Coruscant Guard may have become Dogma's found family, a part of him will always long for his 501st brothers.
Especially a certain clone with a teardrop tattoo...
Tulpa may not be Tup, but he sure reminds Dogma a lot of his lost twin... The renegade rookie will make sure his ad'ika grows up to be happy and free.

The other day I was looking at some screenshots from the Umbara Arc because I was trying to get a lay of the land, so to speak, as I wanted to write about Lich's experiences prior to finding his way back to a now fallen Republic and rising Empire... And three specific frames caught my attention due to very small details.
The first one is when Krell threatens Fives with his lightsaber.
Lightsabers are plasma conduits.
They can slice and cauterise at the same time.
Using them to threaten someone into compliance like this is a promise to use them rather than a bluff.
Even with his armour on, Fives can likely feel the heat of the blade against his neck and shoulder.
This is more than enough reason to go from mild apprehension around Krell to full on distrusting him, because the clones know the Jedi only use their lightsabers when they need to. And only against what they perceive as hostiles that are unwilling to negotiate surrender.
Krell using his lightsaber to threaten someone was an immediate red flag, and Fives knew it.
The second screenshot that caught my attention was when Rex was holding Krell at gunpoint to execute him.

Commander Fox on his way to get some caf!
A discussion on discord ended with this lovely image that I had to materialise into the digital plane. Sometimes you just gotta shred it on a board while wearing an animal onesie and severely sleep deprived.

My #1 post of 2022
Sometimes I think about how Kix had a near mental breakdown in Umbara due to the stress of trying to keep his brothers alive, only to realise he can't do anything to save them.
I also think about how we saw Rex collapse in near tears after he realises Krell tricked the clones into killing each other, just because he could. How, after Umbara, his next destination was Kadavo...
I think about how Dogma went against his own beliefs due to betrayal, and subsequently went into a state of shock because of the weight of the situation he suddenly found himself in. How Rex nodding at him in approval and respect was likely the last kindness anyone ever extended to him.
I think of Slick acting out violently against both Jedi and clones alike, working into the hands of the Separatists because he didn't feel like there was any other escape against the chains he suddenly saw around his neck and wrists.
I think about how Fives struggled uselessly against circumstances well outside his control when it came to protecting his brothers from certain doom, knowing fully well that he had very likely never gotten over the loss of Echo, and that he'd taken it upon himself to be a protector at the expense of his own relatively short life.
I think of Jesse in the aftermath of Maul's invasive mind probing, of how weak and vulnerable he sounded when talking to Rex because he felt like a failure in that very moment. How he was struggling against the chip when Rex was practically begging him to spare Ahsoka and that maybe, just maybe, had he not been captured by Maul his mental shields would have been strong enough to resist like his captain had...
I think of how Echo who was blown up, tortured, abused, left to look like a shell of his former self that he barely recognises, and who's struggling but pushing forward despite having lost almost everything and everyone he once knew and loved. How it's very likely that he'll eventually die never coming to terms with what happened to himself, and that he'll always feel like less than a man because it's how others treat him.
I think of Wolffe, years after Order 66, struggling with intense fear, guilt, and paranoia, trying to keep his only remaining family safe and accidentally hurting them and others in the process, because he's stuck living in a past that's yet to be explored but that we can assume is crushing him. Wolffe who is, without a doubt, a shadow of the former commander that had served proudly besides his Jedi. Who had always been and always will be a survivor of terrible things.
I think of Gregor who's suffered head injuries at least thrice, got blown up and been left with mental health issues, and who was still very willing to extend his aid and kindness to those around him because he took what he got and accepted it with a smile and a defiant spark to the very end...
I think about all these and more.
And it makes me wish the clones had had better than what they ended up with...

Arts 102: Blog Post, Weeks 5-6 + Reading Reflection
Week 5: Following my class critique from week 4, I spent the weekend of week 5 creating a drawing for the poster concept I chose- A zombified mouth with a graveyard for lips for the Martin Luther King Jr. quote “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” I drew the the concept traditionally- Using paper and materials such as colored pencils and graphite. However, this pushed me out of my artistic comfort zone as I am not very experienced with those materials (Pens and markers are my strength). I was also aiming to draw the concept in a realistic style, which is an art style I didn't have much prior experience in. Ultimately, this led to me be visually dissatisfied with my end result- I found it to be overtly edgy, unsubtle in conveying the message, and messy in terms of craftsmanship.
My professor agreed, and she suggested I tried to either look at my other concepts or perhaps create a new concept in general. She guided me to the Great Ideas of Western Man archive as a way to help me find inspiration. After overlooking the gallery and quotes, I settled on a new quote: "The future of this republic is in the hands of the American Voter."- Dwight D. Eisenhower. This led me to create two new concepts:
During class critique on 9/20/2022, I received postive feedback on my eagle with hands for wings concept- And that all I had to do is flip my drawing horizontally in order for the 'future' to be symbolized. I was very happy and excited to work on my new poster concept, and spent the weekend drawing again.
Week 6:
Drawing art in the traditional medium is my strength, so I decided to outline and color in my eagle on paper and only use digital rendering for the horizontal flipping of my image.
However, following the scanning, I found myself to be dissatisfied with the dullness of the color and overall 'messiness' of the image (Graphite marks, smudges, etc.). Perhaps some digital rendering beyond flipping the image would do the trick...
Much better! Digital art is something I haven't had much experience with, meaning that this was very new and experimental to me. During group critique, I received positive and helpful feedback- Such as stylizing the eagle and doing color touch-ups. This led me to the creation of the most current Eagle drawing I have now:
Though my drawing isn't entirely done, I am very happy with how it is going, and am proud of myself for being to able to create this digitally, as it is a medium I am not very comfortable and experienced with. I found it really cool to be able to intersect my traditional line art style with the digital medium. :)
Reading Reflection (120-184): Graphic design is everywhere, and book covers are one of the examples where the creative potential of design and type intersect. In the past, I wouldn't notice many elements of design when reading books, aside from the cover. However, this reading made me realize there is a lot of considerations that are made when publishing a book such as typography, font, genre relation, and more. I'm also surprised to know that book covers aren't made by graphic designers alone, but by also the occasional collaboration of artists and art directors. I'm also curious to know: An ever-progressing modern world, how will graphic design be influenced by and evolve with long-term digitization? What if physical books become uncommon in the future, leading to the cessation of such medium for graphic design? Will other mediums become less common in the future due to digitization, and if so, how will that impact graphic design? Like books, magazines and newspapers are also heavily influenced by graphic design- Visuals, font, legibility, story placements, and photography are key elements for editorial design. Also, like books, editorials are becoming digitized. I found myself surprised to know that there are designers who specifically specialize in digital design- Perhaps it can be a potential career consideration for me, due to the increased demand for such designers. The rest of this reading was filled with examples for social innovation, illustration design, and package design, and I found myself curious and inspired by the designs I saw (Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Soap Packaging and Craig Frazier's art were my favorites!)

Photographer's Eye
The theme I chose for this collection is sunsets. I decided to write about sunsets because they make me happy, and I'd like to share some of the photos I've taken over the years. Many individuals do not get to enjoy such a beautiful scenery every day, and I am fortunate to be able to enjoy one everyday. One of my most favorite things about sunset photography is that each sunset has its own set of colors and they each have a unique look that brings joy to ones eyes. That is also the main reason I chose this theme because any chance I get to enjoy a beautiful scene I take a moment in and enjoy what I have right in front of me. Out of the 5 pictures I have chosen for this collection the first one I am showing is named The Joy After the Storm. It is named that because the day after a horrible storm called Hurricane Ian appeared a beautiful sunset and the feeling I felt from the sunset was a feeling of knowing everything will be okay. With all the destruction around me I was able to relax and not worry about what had occurred the other day. The following photograph is titled The Island. The island received its name because I was able to visit family in the Dominican Republic in December of 2022. The sunsets in the Dominican Republic, in my opinion, are the best. It's an orange sunset, and the setting was in a paddy field. A paddy is field that rice is grown in. I was able to appreciate that moment with my cousins, and it will always be a memory that I will cherish. This third photograph does not have a deep meaning as to why it was taken. However, the picture is titled a random summer day. This day, I had been chilling outside my house with friends, and we had all enjoyed watching the sun set and seeing all the beautiful colors appear. After a long day at the beach, I always see beautiful sunsets, and this is my favorite. This photo is titled A beach day, and it is currently my phone's background image. I like how the sunset has a variety of colors and how it brightens up the sky. This last photo was taken in my backyard, and I noted that seeing the sunset in between the trees reminded me of a day in the fall. Fall is one of my favorite seasons, and there is nothing like the sensation of being in the fall. Every image has some type of meaning behind it but overall watching sunsets is something that brings me joy and it is my favorite time of the day I love being able to see the pretty colors in the sky.
