I’m gonna be honest I don’t understand how people can be hazbin hotel fans and just know everything vivziepop has done and dont care or they choose to pretend they dont know so they dont have to feel guilty about it. Shocking news, you can be INCREDIBLY critical of media you enjoy parts of. I enjoy parts of this show but I’m not going to go buy shit to watch it and support some random lady using a closed religion to make her tumblr sexyman character look “scary”.

I saw someone say vivziepop misgendering someone (allegedly on accident) after getting mad, was a “nothing sandwich” which 1. No the fuck it aint. And also 2. Are you actually off your rocker nuts. I don’t give a fuck if it was an accident heat of the moment thing. Sure you can apologise for that, not me who you misgendered so I cant accept it, but misgendering anyone is never a “nothing sandwich”. Same guy also said that vivzie demonising and appropriating vodou was okay because “Alastor can do it” That… doesn’t fucking matter? VIVZIE can’t practice vodou and neither can her weird red suited deer man, sorry to burst your bubble.

I think everyone thats scrolled even a few inches on my blog (cause really thats all I have) can tell I like Angel Dust. Lots of people like Angel Dust. But apparently half of those people can’t comprehend you can dislike aspects of a character while liking other ones. I mean this directed toward fans by the way. Id sure as hell prefer if he wasn’t fucking fetishised for being a gay man but its vivziepop so literally what can I expect from the lady that makes merch glorifying his abuse. “Yes vivzie! Id love to purchase merch of a traumatic situation ive also been in! Thank you so much for making it look pretty!” I will literally eat glass and drink battery acid before any of this shit actually comes outta my mouth.

It’s so fucking weird how her spin-off show has better representation, humour, writing, and more than her actual main show. Im super glad Helluva Boss is good. Im glad there isn’t any stupid racist representations in there or overly fetishised gay men. Fizzaroli and Ozzie are a cute couple thats written very nicely but even they have elements of vivziepops unsavoury interests that you can see sometimes, but oh my god. Put some of that care into your MAIN show. I am holding out so much hope that vivzie continues the good writing of episodes 7 & 8 so much I am not going to stop noting that, but I am also fully ready to crash and burn from those hopes and that is so fucking disappointing.

Oh my god I just watched ep 7 and 8 of hazbin and I cannot believe it. I am experiencing an out of body experience. The action, the fucking twists at the end, the heartfelt moments. It’s not a perfect show, but it is beautiful and has true passion behind it

Hazbin Hotel songs review: Stayed Gone

This song doesn't have a French title, but if it had one it could've been "Regretter d'être rentré" (lit. Regret coming back).

Pros:

Vox sings "You're not welcome down here anymore" (Say hello to a new status quo), I don't know why they didn't keep "status quo", but I like the translation;

Vox sings "Say goodbye to radio / We prefer video / we want sounds and images in Hell" (While he hid in radio / We pivoted to video / Now his medium is getting bloody rare) there isn't the idea of him being a coward, but I like that he says that people prefer video;

Alastor sings "For a while, you've been demanding / a stylish media / that offers quality" (yes I know it's been a while / since someone with style / treated hell to a broadcast) I like that he says that people asked for him to come back and that he's qualitative unlike Vox;

Alastor sings "Vow gonna regret / Playing" (Your status quo / Will know it's race is run) and I like that he threatens him.

I love Alastor's French va, Maxime Hoareau , he's awesome. I didn't even realize it was him, I didn't even know he could sing! I can't say how happily surprised I was! I love his energy, he was perfect, so it's a pro.

Cons:

In French Vox doesn't call Alastor a coward;

In French Alastor is far more familiar, so it was surprising when I learned that apparently him saying "fuck you" to Lucifer was the 1st he'd swear in English. In this song, he sings (Instead of one of his mediocre whorish little TV shows) (instead of a clout-chasing mediocre video podcast), the word he used in French is dated so it suits him in a way, but hearing him say "whorish" was quite a shock tbh; he also calls Vox a French equivalent of "loser" but far more familiar, so this one was quite a shock too;

We lost the idea of Vox being insecure and thriving only thanks to Valentino and Velvette; but instead, they call each other useless so I guess it cancels out?;

Alastor's French va has a bad tendency to not do the rhymes in [e] and [ə] (ex: tolerate is pronounced / ˈtɒl.ə.ɹeɪ̯t/ [tbh idk if that really helps]). We can often switch the two pronunciations (usually it depends on the region) so you can make them rhyme as long as you pronounce it correctly, which he tends not to do. Not a huge problem but it ticked me;

We don't have the parallelism "I'm gonna make you wish that I'd stayed gone", instead we have "let me remind you who I am", which is good too but I love figures of style;

Alastor sings "Because my voice / Is your friend" (Tune on in / When I'm done) and I don't think he could really be called a friend lol.

It was really complicated to rate this song because the lyrics changed a lot. As a whole, the song is not great, but not terrible either. The translation is very different, but the ideas stayed more or less the same. I'd say the song is OK if you only speak French, but it's better in English. I give this song a 6/10.

Hazbin hotel episode 4 tiny rewrite

What if instead of them singing "Loser Baby" Husk gives Angel a hug, a nice simple hug to comfort Angel, the first physical act that wasn't sexual. And husk takes him to a restaurant to cheer him up and even gives him flowers. And at the end, Angel puts the flowers in a special little pot. Oh and Charlie beats the ever loving shit out of Valentino lol

ep 6, heaven haz no benefits

Charlie once again proved her silliness.

No surprise there, I'll get to that..

In heaven we meet a rather sensible bunch in the angels, some approachable, some friendly, some very wary, a good mixed bag. Dude bro Adam is there but clearly able to tone himself down in more professional settings and it's clear he isn't in charge, so at this point it why not attempt to tackle the subject matter of exterminations?

We didn't meet anyone who spoke of their fear of hell overpowering heaven, nor anybody with any particular authority other than Adam. We met Sera, someone who up kept professionalism whilst being empathetic, fair and making it clear that her hands are tied.

Adam is also revealed to be the first person in heaven. Why I wonder? Will the significant biblical figure Abel be addressed at some point?

Like Lucifer in the last episode, Adam was needed to take the story to the next level, however Adam in very few words and scenes has become a character who really outshines Lucifer and his downgraded to understudy daughter. He is the true powerful innovator, a creator since he's technically the parent of sinners and now he's revealed to be the one with the most say out if this little bunch of angels, even though Lucifer had difference with his kind back when Adam was man? He even outclasses fellow 'moved up in the world' Alastor, whose plotting and mystery amongst a load of subplots doesn't stand out.

Adam is more action and get up and go.

Why is it that the across both shows the villains writers try so hard to have the audience hate with their crass attitudes and supposed counterproduction, turn out to be are the characters who are crafted the best and able to move the plot somewhere else? Intentional or ironic.

So, silly Charlie.

As expected, she sung, that's fine.

In a little scene, a whole other scene to the song, one that lasted but a few seconds, Charlie presented her case that sinners can display decency, only her case was observing Angeldust stand up to Valentino in real time on screen.

What part of this was a 'heavenly' act?

Why did Charlie think it was a good idea to encourage the sinners to enjoy themselves whilst she goes out? She essentially let the teenagers throw the house party. Why not ask them to behave themselves because she's going to heaven to fight their corner?

Still, this was the most she did to sell her pitch, springboard off another characters progressive scene for a moment. This scene could have presented a good argument of how exactly she was going to help sinners with their PRESENT situations, let alone whatever bought them to help in the first place.

What did she have to do with Angeldust bickering with Valentino? Is she going to go back and be supportive of Angel now having it spelt out to her his situation and how he feels about it?

Is Charlie going to leave heaven tougher with a leveled up perception and new approaches?

Doubtful, because yet again her time got dominated and she now has more major things to worry about, like her hotel being under attack.

Good thing Charlie and the residents have Vaggie at their side, who dispite having a little spat with an angel and getting a backstory, I actually managed to forget she accompanied Charlie to heaven.

Vaggie actually got a big reveal that was hinted at in a previous episode..

She's an angel, a fallen one, and that's that really, we aren't allowed the time to tackle this information and it's almost safe to say it certainly won't matter to Charlie.

Emily the cutesy angel who's whole personality was she agrees with Charlie was so forgettable that I near forgot her too had it not been for the rewatch? She's just as idealistic, just as youthful, vibrant and out of grown folks business as Charlie, she also has well meaning wise elders to answer to, she can't do anything without them giving a go ahead. They're so alike yet that's easy to put forward in them just mirroring eachother, only they have next to no chemistry yet still just blend into one. Considering heaven can watch the antics of hell on 'TV', even down to the goings on in Charlie's hotel, Emily could have been a fan, she could have approached Charlie with a whole host of things she observed, what she agreed with, what she would have done had it been her, they could have made friends on the spot and atleast tried to cook up a way to keep in touch, which may be an underhanded way of getting around their restrictions, but no, they were just there in the room together.

This character served to let us know that Charlie has an ally on the other side, along with one from the other side, shame this angel had even less chemistry with Vaggie, all things considered.

Decent episode, like 5 it was definitely needed to pick this series up, no thanks to any leading character.

Hazbin Hotel: A rambled review

disclaimer: all of this is just a ramble or list of my opinions on the show! specifically the flaws and opportunities that are missed and such, this is not to say the show is good or bad. this is not for convincing anyone to change their mind on any of their personal opinions, but to air out my general thoughts on the show!

now lets dive in >:)

Pacing

- i'm sure this is said about a thousand times already, but its not exactly a bad point. the pacing of the show is evidently rushed just basing off of the finale itself, especially the lack of fleshing out the core concept of the show which is redemption. despite the show giving big emphasis on redemption, the lack of deeper conversations, in-depth look on the character's past life, and reflection of the bad things that they've done in general whether in hell or on earth shows how much time the character needs in order to truly earn respect for themselves and enough to be considered 'redeemed'. the pacing unfortunately loses a lot of its opportunity to give further focus on the characters due to the episodes being focused on OTHER characters outside the cast itself. take for instance, the vees. in my opinion, i think the vees were pointless to be in the show on its first season, the only reason why they were introduced is for sir pentious to be a spy, even though they didn't technically have to show up in order for that to happen. the vees could've been more mysterious, intimidating, or even just ominous despite their clear cover and control over other sinners. their presence while popular, couldve been hidden by the show to excite or tease them on the next season. the season overall couldve been cut, the finale being the entrance to heaven so that the other episodes are there to truly flesh out the characters and redemption that charlie wants to happen. to be honest in my view, the redemption that charlie seems to go on about is rather vague, especially with her tactics. we never truly know HOW else does she reinforce redemption, how exactly does she make sinners reflect upon their own actions? trust falls? little activities? not any that regards vulnerability or talk of the past or even just a reflection of themselves? ill talk further about this in its own section, but overall, i think the pacing and the jampacked amount of characters being pushed into one episode, and the unnecessary introductions really makes it hard to further appreciate the show. it lacks time, and feels like the characters are racing for redemption rather than taking the time to truly know how redemption works or is applied to them. while i understand the certain rush due to the introduction of adam and him pushing the date of the extermination, that doesn't mean that redemption itself should be rushed, in regards to sir pentious.

Charlie: Concept of Redemption

- while i continue to love charlie as a character, there are clear flaws with her logic of redemption that were never challenged. such as the small activities that shes doing that are evidently not working for all of them (angel dust), and the clear lack of control she has with how she reinforces redemption based on the lucifer episode. she has no clear direction to what is considered redeemed, but she forces her way through it despite it clearly not working in her favor (ie. going to heaven). no one questions her way of trying to redeem sinners despite its clear flaws, while the collective connection of others are one component to that, that doesn't necessarily change the way the characters look at themselves. they can have relationships and connections to people, but that isn't facing their flaws, facing the mistakes that they've made. the only part i saw seeing a character truly reflect on themselves are angel dust and husk, where in charlie only was slightly the cause of, and thats being generous. charlie as a character should have been more challenged in order for her to develop a deeper understanding of redemption, so that by the time shes proving it to heaven, it doesn't feel like a losing battle or reckless choice, but a clear conviction that we, as the viewer, know is possible. it makes us the viewer, know that charlie isnt simply saying it, that charlie is willing to change on her own and for others like the virtues and values she believes in. while her naivety is one of her character traits, her staying that way only makes her to be a flat character, one that never changes as the plot moves forward. as (one of) the main character, thats even more disappointing. i honestly expected for the lucifer episode to be the reality check that charlie needed, the evidence of heaven clearly being flawed themselves, and how directionless she is with her plan to redeem sinners. but sadly, that wasn't the case. all in all, redemption itself and charlie should've been more fleshed out, it was vague, lack any deeper meaning, and felt forced in the narrative despite it being the very concept of the show.

Sir Pentious: Redeemed or Not Redeemed? (that is the question)

- before i start i just wanna say, i love sir pentious, by far one of my favorite characters from the jump. BUT, the way they handled him was sadly, exciting yet not quite satisfying. his character was interesting and fun, quite different compared to the cruelness that we see frequently in hell. his redemption felt unearned despite his sacrifice for others, this makes the question of how redemption works in the first place. if he is redeemed, does that mean that only actions in hell is the basis of going to heaven? besides the point, the redemption of sir pentious while exciting, didnt feel satisfying due to the fact that we never truly got a clear understanding of HOW was he redeemed, or how exactly did he led himself to reflect on his own actions. it felt rushed to me, is more or less my take, his lack of screen time points to that even more.

Visuals

- these are purely off of my own opinions and preferences, take this mostly with a grain of salt.

- backgrounds: too much red and black, please put tiny bit more contrast to bring out the characters more, the lack of variety makes it harder for characters and the background to be unique and stand out to someone or a viewer. theres a reason why i can barely picture any of the backgrounds in any of the scenes in the show. (or maybe its just me, idk)

- characters: purely my own opinion, character designs could've been more pushed into the animals/elements that they are, like alastor, vaggie, and nifty. (tbh i didnt knew alastor was a deer until someone told me the first time i saw him). less red, experiment with contrast, complimentary colors despite them being in the pride part of hell.

Alastor: Unnecessary or Just Right?

- i see a few people think alastor overall is pointless in the season or isn't needed in the show, but, i somewhat disagree with that. a part of alastor's character is him being in control, he yearns for control over the situation and is mostly there to pick the right moment to manipulate it all in his favor. i personally like the subtle (yet not so subtle) of displaying alastor as threatening and cunning, his whole character is about subverting or sometimes satisfying the expectations and judgements of others to his favor. his role isnt to just be a mastermind, but to be a character that shows repression, lack of empathy, lack of trust in anyone, and controlling behavior be a contrast to the very concept and ideas that charlie wants to avoid and change. hes a direct opposite and challenge to what charlie calls 'redeemable'. by that point, alastor's role isnt simply to be smart and to control, but to be a challenger to charlie's whole idea despite being in her side. while heaven somewhat plays that role, alastor challenges it far more from his general demeanor and the actions that he's rumoured to have done. this pushes a question in the future that charlie has to face, would you protect and support a co-worker that directly opposes the very idea that the hotel faces? it makes the creation of the hotel far more interesting, and makes an intriguing question of morality that charlie has to face. hes a ticking time bomb, i do hope that they also look to alastor's clear weaknesses and vulnerabilities, ones he cant avoid and have to face.

anyways, these are only the few general opinions i have of the show, if ya want more positive things of the overall show, i might just do it if i have the time :)), its 2am now bye byeeeeee

Phenomenal soundtrack and character design, character writing and voice acting is great, animation is wonderful, the story is a little shaky sometimes but that’s just life

On "Daddy Issues"

Ok, I know I'm a bit late to the game here, but I was gathering my thoughts after experiencing episode 5 and 6

Let me preface this with the fact that I am a Hazbin Hotel fan; it's cringe and it's not the best writing in the world, but I love the characters and the concept and the art. I know a lot of people disagree and completely despise it and hey, you do you, but this is a silly little thing I enjoy and think is fun

but oof. episode 5 and 6 were rough, execution-wise. Also worth mentioning that episode 5 followed on the heels of episode 4, which was dealing with a lot of heavy topics and gave Angel a lot of character development very quickly and had a wonderful song and a budding relationship between Husk and Angel that was fantastic, so to get a confusing and overwhelming yet completely inefficient episode (ep 5) and then an episode with SO MUCH HAPPENING that it absolutely bowled you over with plot points and world building that weren't given a single second to breathe was really disappointing. I'll put the meat under a read more, but that's the thesis

this post is just gonna be on episode 5, and I'll make another one on episode 6 bc christ almighty both of them are gonna be long

Episode 5 was something I was really looking forward to-- Of the main cast, Charlie and Vaggie seemed the least intriguing to me (oh, did I say "seemed" past tense? haha! they still most definitely are the least interesting!), and I wanted to see how they would introduce something they've been building up to for a while: Charlie's famed "Daddy issues"!

Turns out, instead of actually keeping it as a point of intrigue for Charlie's character and using it as a point of tension to show that hey, Charlie isn't actually a perfect person, and she's also in pain with the rest of the sinners because her own family relationships are falling apart, they solve it in a single episode. That's right! The long-awaited, complicated, divorced parent and child relationship that twisted Charlie into a validation seeking, people pleasing princess that "wants to fix other people so she doesn't have to deal with her own daddy issues" (quote by Husk) is solved with a charming performance by Jeremy Jordan and a song!

Look, it's no secret I'm a huge fan of Loser, Baby-- I clearly have no qualms with storytelling through song. But you cannot song-plain this one away. We've established over 4 episodes that Charlie and her father have kept in minimal contact for seven years. That's a Long time (don't go trying to be like, oh time to charlie works differently, bc that shit's not established, and everyone in the show still treats seven years like a long time). We know that the last time they called each other was 5 months ago.

"More than Anything," solves basically everything by making the following points

Charlie was inspired by her Dad's dreaming

Lucifer was ashamed of his failures and hid away from her

Lucifer does, however, want so so deeply to know Charlie

Charlie wants to know Lucifer

They love each other <3

these are fine endgame points. Dare I say... good endgame points to arrive at?? But you can't stuff ALL these revelations into a single song and call it a finished relationship arc when they haven't spoken for real in 7 YEARS. Also, making Lucifer so goofy and silly and fun and charming is Not helping the establishment of his character as a self-hating former dreamer who doesn't want his daughter to make the same mistakes he did. It just turns him to tumblr sexyman cute quirky sympathetic never did anything wrong and loves his daughter, completely downplaying his absentee parenting.

You can't have him turn from "I do not care about your life. I do not care about your project. I will not ask about your passions and your dreams. I am already ashamed of my own." to "ur so right bestie!!! dreaming is so slay mama!!! I love you so much you're my little baby girl I love you so much, you're right and I will support you!!!" in the course of a single episode without like.... at least 3 real, in depth conversations happening. The song is beautiful, but you can't poetry your way out of an actual relationship arc.

BUT! But, but but! The fault does not lie completely with Lucifer, but also with Charlie. girl just forgave him??? For everything????? Despite having been so scared to call him at the beginning of the episode? It's very unrealistic for a kid to just accept that a parent loves them apparently so so deeply when they've never seen proof of it in the last idk just spitballing a number here SEVEN YEARS. If you want to make the crux of a failed parent-child relationship miscommunication, you're gonna have to get into the ugly--- the grieving of what you could've had earlier, the wondering why you didn't reach out earlier, the anger at why they've suddenly changed now--- and you're gonna have to explain why the miscommunication went on so long.

sometimes, if you have a pair of completely uncommunicative people, seven years may be reasonable. But Charlie is open about her passions! She's public! She constantly reads about "The Story of Hell" and paints Lucifer in a positive light! And Lucifer is quick to reciprocate any interest Charlie shows in him! He's quick to offer help, to spoil Charlie and show love! (Lucifer's points are two points that make SEVEN YEARS of MINIMAL CONTACT and MISCOMMUNICATION make ZERO SENSE).

additionally, Charlie's lowkey only point of intrigue that was set up (her relationship to Lucifer, the King of Hell) is now just... kapoot. solved. pish posh. now she's a done character.

THEN EXPLAIN WHY I STILL DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT HER???? I haven't seen her actually struggle in a way that's not played off as a bit, we don't get a real charlie breakdown monologue, there are no stakes for me as a hazbin hotel viewer to want everything to go well for charlie besides my acab rad leftist ass being like redemption and forgiveness is good and ultimately benefits society

she's fun, she's bubbly, she's kind! but those are all basic things we knew from minute 1 she was on screen. I need to see her struggle. For a main character, she sure as hell doesn't feel main. And I expected better female characters from female writers (feat. in my next post, Vaggie????? What the hell?).

Hazbin Hotel review without major spoilers.

Opening

Good opening backstory. I liked the backstory of Lucifer and Lilith.

Language

Unnecessary swearing. It wasn't overused but it wasn't needed in some parts.

Animation

Animation was pretty good. Didn't see anything wrong with it and it had some good scenes.

Characters I have something to say about

Angel is annoying at first but I liked him more as the episodes went on.

I want more Husk and Nifty dynamic. It'd be fun if they had an episode for them.

Adam is too much. We get it, he's a jerk. But at least it would be satisfying to see him get knocked down, if it happens.

Music

Skipped all the musical number except for Vox's and Alastor's. It just doesn't fit imo. But I usually do this for anything that has musical numbers.

Humour

I didn't really laugh and I thought some of the jokes were dumb but I didn't mind since I was more interested in the story rather than the comedy.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Especially the last couple of episodes. I thought certain subject matters could've been handled with more respect, though. I think the show gets too much unnecessary hate because I was expecting it to be worse, based on what I heard online

A couple thoughts on what ive seen of hazbin hotel (nothing too spoiler-y i don't THINK but i'm putting it under the cut to be nice and also because i don't want yall to come after me)

The first episode is just kinda meh to me. Like it by far is not the worst piece of media i've ever seen, but it isn't the best, either. Idk it just seems like it trys to do a lot of things in that amount of time, but doesn't really end up doing great at any of the things that it's trying to do. A lot of the jokes in it didn't land to well with me either, they kinda end up doing that thing that people have noticed with helluva too where they drag an ok or even a decent joke on for so long that it just becomes the most unfunny thing you've ever heard in your whole life. Honestly i also feel like it's really implied that eveyone who's watching has seen the OG pilot because the way things are introduced they wouldn't stick well if you hadn't seen it. It's like it's trying to be the pilot while also trying to NOT be the pilot. However it does make up for some of that with the songs

Radio killed the video star is a little bit better to me, we start see a little bit more of who these charcters actually ARE and what they are like. I really enjoy Alastor and Vox's dynamic, and i hope we get to see more of it in the future (the alastor and vox song is BY FAR my very favorite) It's still not top notch for me, but i enjoyed it a lot more than episode one.

One thing i do wanna say is that i do feel like the show can DEFINITLY pick up in the next episodes. It has a lot of potential, espically if you consider how many other shows have kinda gotten off to a rough start. Lots of the reviews i've seen have been WAY too critical. Like yeah, it's not the greatest piece of media ever at the moment, but it's not THAT bad. Jesus christ.

All in all i do still have a positive opinion of hazbin as whole, and i'm really exited to see where it goes

(also a lot of people have been saying that Alastor didn't get a redesign. Alastor DID however get a definite redesign. Show Alastor is VERY different than pilot Alastor and i didn't really even notice that until i actually watched it)

First-Impression thoughts on Hazbin Hotel's "official" first ep, now that I checked it out on YT-

*Spoiler warning below for those who didn't see it yet-*

-Great to see Charlie & Vaggie again, still a wholesome lil supportive pair whilst having their own quirks/things to do on the side. Esp with Vaggie spending the whole time back at the hotel reshooting a whole commercial for Charlie's sake, awww :3

-Pleasantly surprised by the twist of Charlie's mom being the figure she was most inspired by to make her dream come true, along with her love for singing. Curious to see where Lilith's whereabouts could be if she's been away for so long?

-The new voices were... a mixed bag, I suppose? Mainly in the line/tone-deliveries for certain characters (& I guess I'm still moreso used to the OG pilot's portrayals lol), but I can see the good attempts made from those like Charlie & Alastor.

-I... don't know how I feel about the way Lucifer's backstory was handled? Like, yeah its interesting hearing of him & Lilith genuinely connecting over their "rebellious" natures (& thus fleeing from Heaven's wrath/staying in Hell to be together). But then, the whole thing with Lucifer apparently being some "doofy, misunderstood dreamer who only wanted the best for Humanity, got bullied by those mean ol' angels, and didn't meaaaan to spread Sin all across Earth~ 🥺🥺" ...ehhhhh, felt kinda lame imho 🤷‍♀️. Not that I mind giving nuanced/sympathetic angles to a character's development now & then... but with someone like Lucifer (who mind you, is meant to represent the "Ring of Pride" on top of his Hell-ruling duties), I guess I kinda expected more... "bite" to his portrayal, I guess? .3. But idk, maybe that's just me... (*Tho admittedly, one could argue that perhaps he and/or Lilith were simply lying in that storybook to make them look less "bad"... idk, given HB's track record with Stolas' writing and since both shows are made by the same people... part of me can't help having my doubts ^^; *)

-Adam... ooooooh boi .x.;; Ever since I saw his leaked design I've always been rather... "mixed" about him, and now seeing him on-screen & talking I... don't really get the concept behind him? I mean, yeah I'm all for a fun, chaotic-jackass type when done right (hell I still consider Blitz among my faves to this day lol). But with Adam apparently being the big leader behind Heaven's army, AND was even the "original" Adam from biblical times... how tf did he get the chance to be allowed in Heaven if he not only helped curse humanity to sin (aka: sharing Forbidden Fruit with Eve), but on top of him currently being a horny, misogynistic loudmouth? 🤨Discounting that is also the fact that his whole design vibe just... doesn't really give me "holy army leader" vibes, but more-or-less just Blitz in some weird angel cosplay lol 🤷‍♀️. No shade to those who genuinely do like Adam though (and I'll admit his song was surprisingly catchy lol), I just... feel like his whole personality/design vibe could've probably fit better to a fallen angel-type character (or even a demon-angel hybrid if you wanna play more into the Heaven vs. Hell conflict), someone who only takes up the "Adam" title as an ego trip to enact his revenge against Hell... or, something like that idk; my brain's tired lol. (*His sidekick Lute seems pretty cool tho, she kinda reminds me of Tempest Shadow from MLP in a way .3.*)

-Nice to see more of the old Hotel gang again, esp those like Nifty she was a cute :3 (her whole reaction to the camera honestly being a whole mood lol)

-Did not expect to see Brandon Rogers pop up voicing Katie Killjoy of all people, buuuut I guess I can see the amusing comparison potential to that one CEO persona of his lol

....Aaaaaand yep, that's about the gist of my first-impression thoughts atm .3. Dunno if I'll be sitting down to watch the whole season of Amazon's Hazbin atm (*'cause like, I do have Amazon Prime, buuuuut I rarely ever use that to watch shows (save for some classic cartoons here & there lol) .w.; *), but I'd say it was still generally a decent watch for what it is imo👍(+any chance to see my girl Vaggie again, the better~ x3💜)

Hazbin Hotel songs review: Hell is forever

The French title of this song is a literal translation: "L'Enfer est éternel".

Pros:

Charlie sings "You come down to massacre us" (I know you guys fly down just to kill) which is quite violent, I love it; and I like the "us", she includes herself amongst her people.

Adam sings "There's more important / we need to have a good time " (And when all's said and done / there's the question of fun), meaning that he thinks that having fun is more important than helping people, which is exactly like him

Adam sings "We made a great decision" (That we made the determination), I like that he calls his decision "great"

Adam sings "Make an effort" (You're wasting your breath), like she should be the one trying to accommodate his needs for fun, it's really Adam-like

In French Adam calls "winners" "superior divine beings", which is the idea in English, but I like that he clearly calls Angels "superior", because it's more "those people are superior because they are" instead of "they won the life-game"

Most of the lyrics are literal translations or equivalents

Cons:

Adam sings "You're going round in circles" (Save us all precious time) which she isn't so it doesn't make a lot of sense

Adam sings "They can die forever / Until we come to kill them" (They're burnin' for their lives / Until we kill 'em again), which is stupid because WTF do you mean by "dying until we kill them"???

The idea of Black & White isn't said verbatim in French, instead it's "We won't make compromises"; TBH it's not really a con, the idea is the same, I just prefer "Black & White"

Despite Emmanuel Curtil being a great singer, high notes are his weak point

As a whole, the song is great! I love Emmanuel Curtil's singing, and I have this song in both French and English in my playlist. I give this song a 10/10.

ep 5 Hazbin the best so far

It moved the story along quick, which was needed.

We meet Lucifer and he is exactly what is to be expected of a character who is here to be powerful but liked. He's he's awkward, silly, cute, depressed, defeated, not responsible for a major issue because it's someone else's fault but come on, he is so. He also validates the 'Chalie follows in her parents footsteps bad turn' by being so much like Charlie only seasoned, competent and fed up.

Still, he's likeable non the less.

Charlie was outclassed, no surprise there but I actually forgot what it was she wanted until her dad chose to give her exactly what it was. Charlie's 'daddy issues' were weak and I'm grearful for that, there relationship going from not really existing to great all hinged on 'daddy gimme what I want, you love me don't cha?' which quite frankly fits at this point, she's rather silly.

Charlie referring to the sinners as 'her people' fits too, she comes across as a pampered rich kid, specifically a celebrity's child, who wants others with much less to know they're cool and down for everyone, their angst is generally their boredom, guilt and fear of being judged unfairly, they assimilate their frustration into the frustration of those they watch who tend to have a lot to worry about. This felt like a bit of progress for her character, looks like we just need to meet Lilith next for Charlie to truly blossom.

Mimzy was fun, she told us a little about herself and her life back when she lived, she let us know of her history with Alastor along with a bit of his backstory. She bought trouble for Alastor to flex on, still she held her own very well, pity she was just passing by and is no longer welcome.

Alastor showed that he isn't composed all the time and can be needlessly reactive and does enjoy getting his hands dirty. He also quickly inserted himself between Lucifer and Charlie to mark some territory and showcase just how ambitious, ruthless and competitive he is.

It is a shame that two women were used to contribute to mens stories, especially when the woman with the least charisma happens to be the leading character who barely has a story of her own, but even so, as much as Alastor 'missing 7 years like Lilith, Charlie's new daddy and Lucifer's have a go rival' shoehorned his way to spotlight, it was interfering troublemaker Mimzy who stole the show for me, and Lucifer who revealed that he still works with angels and told us a little about heaven, which he has access to.

There are some pacing issues, all that happens in ep 5 could have happend earlier imo (maybe prior to the board meeting featuring all those characters we didn't know), giving us some Charlie content and progress, an explanation for a lot of her absence because heaven has to be a big place? A number of the subplots could have took place in the same meantime.

Still, best of the series, things atleast picked up, went somewhere and remembered the source material. No thanks to any lead character.

so wanted to post a fast review of a series, I did not expect to like, people I followed pretty much called it a trashfire and there were jokes all over social media over the quality of it's story and it's lackluster animation, so I went in with the mindset not too expect too much and well...

wait no wat, it's pretty good, i myself am confused I enjoyed it alot, did I watched the same show as the people who hated it?

don't get me wrong the series has problems, the swearing gets a bit tirdesome and the pacing is all over the place. The show takes a lesson from spiderverse and lego movies by not giving its viewer any room to breath, Every scene is important to one of the major plot threads, episode 4 is a triggering episode that you should read upront on, that i can't comment on. The character desings are a hit and miss and not all the jokes land. But when the show wants to tell it's story, wants you to get to know the characters you can't help but get so invested and wanting to learn more. The different plot threads that it starts are all major good that you want to keep following the story. But what I like most about the show that it's not a cast of a ''nuclear'family or a group of high school teenagers or a group of super heroes. No it's a weird mixed of very troubling (sinners) adults in a found-family situation.

The story is about the Princess of Hell named Charlie who opened a Hotel in the hope she could redeem Sinners so they can go to heaven and avoid slaughter by the angels, that happens once a year, but due to angel Adam (yes that Adam) being a dick, the slaugher will happen again in just six MONTHS.

and that's all i need to tell you, a big theme about this series is Redemption and that it does it nicely well. The interaction between the characters is also majorly fun and let's just say there is a reason the Ost of Hazbin Hotel has been trending on Spotify it's freaking good.

The pacing doesn't bother me too much myself because Hazbin remindds me of a musical/stageplay and I love those.

(the Seramyu musicals are btw really good. give them a watch too)

regardless if you don't like HH that's all fine but I think one of the best things about it' being a hit, (it's one of the top shows on prime in over thirty countries) that in a time where big studios play it safe by having most adult cartoons follow the simpsons formula, try to copy the rick and morty style of storytelling, or in case of Disney and Marvel today, with Bob Iger saying they be focussing on big franchises and sequels for now, trying to shift the blame on original stories on why their movies aren't doing good. (despite them not even promoting said og movies and making the writers play it super SAFE) we have Hazbin Hotel, an animated show for adults that is so Unapologetic, Queer! Doesn't follow any save formula, is such an obvious passion project and is a huge hit! Last time I was this impressed was with Netflix Pluto and Nimona. HH is also a series I would love to see on stage! Hazbin Hotel is not for everyone but I would suggest give it a chance instaed of letting social media decide for you. (which i know you can disgard my post too, but I just wanted to say, I'm glad me and my friends watched this series and just ignored most of the hate, because we all enjoyed it and are playing the songs on repeat lolol)
