Finally, after actually reading the Watership Down book, I feel that I can post this drawing, whose sketch I started roughly around the same time I joined the fandom 4 years or so ago-

Hazel reassuringly grooming a wounded and mistreated Blackavar back at Watership Down. I really like their designs from the 1999 TV series (outside of their anatomy), so I drew them in a similar style. I know Blackavar in that series isn't physically tortured in Efrafa, but I stayed close to the book canon. (Also it's horribly unfair how Blackavar got killed in the movie...)

remakes of designs of watership down characters c: bigwig, hazel and fiver. i may do more of these in the future, feel free to drop some characters you'd like to see! the original version (aug 2022) below the cut!

overall i'm definitely more happy with the new designs. i mostly fiddled around with hues/saturation, moved and added some markings to make them more distinct, and of course my anatomy and artstyle have developed a lot more these past months.

also it's fun to look at how i use my brush now compared to before. the lines are thinner, characters more detailed, and i'm pretty sure i even fiddled around with the settings so that the flow direction changed. it's ironic since i was originally using this brush as a "loose sketch" liner but now render everything completely - definitely time consuming with this particular tool but i wanted to keep things consistent enough so that i could compare these two pictures.

tune in next week for another epi rambles about medibang paint brushes! well, hopefully the next time i post won't be next week.

I finished this Hazel painting I started a few years ago. There was a sale on wooden stuff on Vograce, so I had to finish this in a frenzy, and it did end up kinda rushed in the end. I might fine-tune and clean this up later before I restock charms. That is. If they sell out `:D

But yeah Hazel-rah is gonna be in a bucnch of wooden charms in the future ^^ ✧˖°

Changes - what signals the changing of the seasons to you? -- oh, this is kind of tricky because seasons in Ohio are a bit of a shitshow. For spring, I'd say that first day I find myself outside and pleasantly warmed by the sun. For summer? The lightning bugs. My large dumb glowy friends. And the smell of fireworks. For Autumn? There's a smell. Cold air and fallen leaves. It's sweet and sharp and I can't really describe it. Winter? The inevitable baked dust smell of the heat kicking on, and the visceral urge to make a huge batch of chili.

Ocean - what’s your favorite sea creature? -- Whales. Hands down. I have had to good fortune to see humpback whales, orcas and belugas. I saw humpbacks on a whale watching trip to Provincetown. I went on a halibut fishing charter trip in Alaska and the halibut were not biting so it turned into an impromptu whale watching trip and we followed a pod of orcas and it was incredible. The belugas might be the strangest thing. My folks lived in Alaska for a time. They picked me and my (soon to be) hubby up at the airport and we saw a bunch of cars pulled over. We were in the Turnagain Arm and there was a huge pod of Belugas rolling and breaching and I remember feeling so blessed, like i am in this place where you can pull over to the side of the road and see WHALES wtf?

Rain - what’s your favorite type of spring weather? -- Thunderstorms. Hands down. I love a good storm. I love that feeling in the air before everything let's go.

Vernacular - what language do you wish you could speak or want to learn? -- I would like to learn gaeilge. I have some Irish and Scotish ancestry and i wish i was more connected to that part of my self.
