it also caught me so off guard in episode 1 in particular that the crew clearly knew how much izzy was doing to protect them from ed?? no one's saying it out loud because it won't help but the hug, and the whole scene surrounding it, says they've all quietly been paying attention and worrying about him behind his back and it was a culmination of weeks and months of living like they were while knowing that izzy was bending over backwards to absorb as much of ed's rage and heartbreak and anger as possible in order to shield the rest of them??? help??

sometimes i wonder about the people ted left behind in the us. i mean, the way he is, the little we do see of his coaching from then, i have no doubt he had a great impact on his players and staff there, too; that they loved him, too. but like, we never see ted still connected to any of them. i understand why like, on a doylist level--narratively it would just clutter things to have this whole other cast, and beard is already there showing his previous important connections, but like. i dunno. i just wonder.

Been thinking about the ways you could hug Centipede Eclipse
(Also, does he have legs?)
AAAAAA OKAY FIRST OF ALL THIS ASK HAS BEEN SITTING FER A MINUTE AND IT FILLS ME WITH SO MUCH JOY EVERYTIME I LOOK AT IT!!!! THAT BEAST IS GIVING HUGS...... WHAT A NICE GOD HE IS U GUYS <3 /silly
BUT ALSO SECONDLY THIS INSPIRED ME SM HELLO !!!! The first idea is the softest I think so personally ofc that's the one I like personally. but the second idea is SO FUNNY 2 ME bc it's something that Lord Eclipse would probably loathe to do but probably have to do a few times to boost morale LMAOOO 😭 THEY TURNED HIS ASS INTO A JUNGLE GYM!!!!!
Even still, as delightful as both options are, I'd imagine there's WAY less arms and hands involved and more... like. boa constrictor moves. and it'd go like that AHAJSBAKDNW
(Also yes he has legs, just not people legs! He has both the lil skittery legs and the long fake-out legs that actual centipedes have! The first several sections of his body are arms, but unfortunately I like my men to skitter, so he needed some actual buggy legs <3 worth noting tho this is only bc my beloved friend kat drew him like that and I liked it much more than the idea of "his long body with many arms Never Stops" LMAOAHSKWHD)

something really gets to me about eiffel and hera talking to themselves while addressing each other - in am i alone now? and the watchtower in particular. i can't say this to you, but you're still the person i want to tell it to. i know there's no way you can hear me, but if you can...
eiffel talks to himself a lot, and he is very used to being alone with no one paying much attention to the things he says, so i'm not sure he ever realized exactly how much until he was on the hephaestus. in the early days of the mission, i imagine hera responded to a lot of eiffel's asides and sort of embarrassed them both. and then that sort of... shifted. their relationship shifted, they got comfortable being around each other, and eiffel's conversations with himself started including hera, too. i like the idea of that as an establishing moment: that, at some point, there was a first time eiffel said something in an empty room, and hera was so used to him talking to himself that she didn't realize it was meant for her, and he asked her, "hera? are you there?"
i imagine hera still talked to eiffel, too, when they all thought he was dead. with each day increasingly longer and more difficult, that she would vent her frustrations to the empty comms room the same way he would've encouraged her to when he was there. she can't talk to anyone the way she can talk to him, and they just... keep talking to each other, even when they can't. they are so much a part of each other, the voice of encouragement and comfort in each other's heads. for so long, all they can really do for each other is talk, and they maintain that connection even in absence. they ask each other "are you there?" like reaching for each other's hands in the dark.

a friend of mine was talking about how she was surprised that jean doesn't seem to have any specific issue with cat/laila/jeremy touching him and it got me thinking that he doesn't really react in any way, negatively or positively. the narration doesn't comment on it besides stating that it is happening. jean doesn't think on it basically at all which is FASCINATING because given all we know about his background it seems pretty safe to assume no one will have ever wrapped their arm around his waist to comfort him, but he doesn't react to cat doing so (which is even more interesting because it happens right after he sees the pat/cody/ananya dynamic and gets worried about cody's space being invaded).
this feels like such an intentional choice, because all that negative space, the not-thinking about it, actually says so much. like he can't think about it - negatively or positively. thinking about it would probably mean a lot of the raven-conditioning popping its head back up, about how it's all sorts of detrimental to his exy game. but it would also mean realising he's never had this, never been allowed the kindness of touch, the comfort of it (except maybe with elodie, her little hand in his). and would probably mean feeling like he doesn't deserve it. thinking about it means maybe realising he wants it - that he shouldn't, but he craves it anyway

Emily wasn't the only one wishing the night would never end: As they all sat together, chatting away, his parents quickly warming up to this curious young woman their son had brought home, Randall found himself similarly wishing the night would go on, never to end. Even as he eyed the clock as it chimed from its place on the mantle, he wished he could stay up all night with the lovely woman by his side. He knew he'd be dragging his feet tomorrow (even if it was still his day off), but it'd be more than worth it in his opinion.
But all good things must come to an end, and so eventually the Pace parents were preparing to head off to bed-but not before thanking Emily for coming by, June commenting, "I'm very glad you stopped by, dear, I hope we'll see you again! If you'd like to join us for dinner sometime, we'd be more than happy to have you at our table."
Randall visibly brightened at the prospect of Emily coming over for dinner one of these nights (though he also made a note to himself to let his mother know about her garlic allergy, so that they could prepare accordingly); he'd have to give her a call one of these nights, see if she'd be open to it...
"W-Would you like me to walk you home, Emily?" Randall offered, tone sweet and chivalrous as he fiddled with his shirt cuff, hoping she would say yes-it wasn't that he didn't think she could get home by herself, he was just hoping to milk as much time with her as he could...
