Thinking about Edward Elric and his hair, specifically his braid.

Did he decide to learn how to braid it himself, post-arm loss? When he's missing that arm functionally, does he ask someone else to do it? The times that it's merely tied and not braided, is that something he knows how to do one-handed, or does he need help for even that much?

How much practice and effort has gone into maintaining his hair so it's not only braided/tied but Looks good while doing so, good enough that no one would ever think to ask? If Alphonse helps, the same question extends to him, with how big and clunky the armor's hands are compared to Ed's hair.

Idk if I have any particular direction with this but as someone who has to practice braiding hair with two abled arms I have a lot of thoughts and feelings on this concept exploration.

(Tbh I suspect I'm blanking on scenes/panels where he's seen tying it up which answers some of these thoughts but also I want to know More about it you know?)

we only see it once or twice from what I remember, the one definite time being here ^ when the puppet attack first begins & he's dealing with the emotional agony of seeing so many of his family turn into puppets.

so it's clearly something that comes out only when he's in severe emotional distress.

the interesting thing is that Wolfwood is fucking TERRIFIED of him bc of it.

whatever this moment is, Vash is giving off the same sort of oppressive energy that Wolfwood's experienced with Knives. it's the first time during their travels that he's really been forced to recognize What Vash Is. he knew it of course, saw him in Jeneora, but he's such a goofy guy it's easy to forget.

but whatever Vash is doing here, it makes Wolfwood Incredibly aware of what he is.

so the real question i think is What exactly is going on here? is it unintentional? is it simply a response to the emotional agony?

Vash isn't the type to indiscriminately terrify everyone in the vicinity on purpose. he wouldn't be doing this purposefully out of anger while Wolfwood's there. no, in this moment, he's not even angry at all. he's Distraught.

yeah. that's some fucking emotional agony. i dont think Vash is doing this entirely on purpose.

but THEN...

as both Leonof and Wolfwood stare at him in fear, Both feeling his oppressive energy, Vash then lets out some sort of blast that blows against everything between him and Leonof. it doesn't destroy anything, doesn't even injure him, but it's a physically tangible effect that scares the Shit out of Leonof & spurs him into motion.

there may be some anger involved in this moment, but it's not the hair-trigger rage you would expect from seeing his family turned into puppets. it's something Quiet, something almost cold. he's distraught, Resigned, & retaliating just because he has to.

Vash hates all of this. he doesn't want to fight him. he fucking Knows this guy too, knew him as a kid, & none of this makes sense. but he knows that he needs to fight him, & doesn't have any kind of choice.

but he's not happy about it. not in the slightest.

I call it The au that I made up but have no creativity to make anything with it: subjecting soundwave to the horrors of the Lost Light; a coswave au

So basically I’m insane right? So what if I put Soundwave (and co) along with cosmos on the lost light (against their will) and force them to endure the tortures of captain rodimus prime and co-captain megatron absolutely fucking shit up in the universe (also ravage is still alive bc fuck you IDW give her back).

Soundwave and Cosmos get stuck on the Lost Light during a stop at the Sanctuary Station and now Rodimus and crew have to figure out how to get them back home (weird-science-dimension-hopping-probably-brainstorms-fault-shit idk just go with it). Soundwave hates this very much bc 1) he didn’t ask to be on this torture bus to hell, 2) now his station is left sorta unattended (hold down fort sky-byte!), and most importantly, 3) that bitch megatron >:((.

It’s not all THAT bad tho bc cosmos is here and he gets to be reunited with Ravage again (he misses ravage. So much). But still. Let me out let me OOUTTT

ANYWAYS. So thus the adventure begins—Cosmos is handling this like a champ bc he’s been on the LL before so he knows the drill. Cosmos and Soundwave get to share a hab, Cosmos actually get to meet Ravage in person (gets called an idiot multiple times), and Soundwave gets to learn how to socialize with other mechs properly (it goes just as well as you’d expect). Cosmos and Tailgate bond very fast bc they’re very similar and minibots gotta stick together ykno? while Soundwave is struggling bc everyone here is weird and loud and so… friendly (it’s actually Cyclonus who manages to break down Soundwave’s very carefully put up barriers first. Antisocial losers stick together 4ever).

Megatron is also struggling bc he feels guilty for how he left things with Soundwave, but Soundwave is very adamant on hating his stupid guts.

Gradually, our favorite fellas learn about Cosmos and Soundwave yearning for eachother but being stupidly oblivious to the other’s feelings, and are now determined to get them together (led by yours truly, the minibot gang).

Shenanigans ensue, Soundwave figures out how to express himself and his feelings, Cosmos learns to dance, Megatron gets engex thrown at his face, and Ravage is so exasperated she might start scruffing these idiots like newsparks since they wanna act immature.

I’m actually super insane about this patchwork au I came up with I think about it near constantly. THANK YOU FOR THE ASK HEHEEHEEE I LOVE RAMBLING ABOUT MY HALF BAKED THOUGHTS EEHEEHEH❤️❤️🛸🛸🛸🛸

ithink iwas watching through his cutscenes when i started getting Big Invested in lobcorp, and man. MANNN. i cant ramble abt him as well as other characters but his entire everything is SO fucking fascinating to me. the pre-suppression cutscene fucking HITS man. hes a character that i LOVE seeing th change in between lc and ruina, Especially seeing how his earlier interactions (re: the scenes with roland) see him kinda... mulling things over still. i like seeing that he's still changing a bit even After the coresuppression+librarification ordeal.

i cant say i understand the substance of his character like i can other characters, but he's so distinct in the way he's written that its impossible to Not just. like him so much. its one of those Pointing Wordlessly At The Corkboard In Tears kinda things.

the interactions between him and angela in ruina are probably among if not my Favorite scenes in the entire game. it will Still bring me to tears despite the fact that i have watched them Multiple Multiple Times. it's his manner of speaking, honestly. it carries a weight to it that i find hard to describe.

i guess, as a whole, its the complexity of his character. while maybe not so dramatic in the grand scheme of things, the amount that he shifts and changes holds an amount of comfort, to me. its especially striking with him; hes just such a strong character and i respect him so so much.

I 100% headcanon that only James knew the details about why Sirius ran away. Remus and Peter probably knew that Sirius' home situation wasn't good, but IMO only James was told exactly what was going on and what led Sirius running away. James is also the only marauder to have seen vulnerable Sirius, and vice versa.

So all these wolfstar fics where James' role is diminished to a point you wonder if he and Sirius are actually best friends, and instead show how ✨amazing, smart, list all possible virtues✨ Remus is really weird me out. Because canonically, what did Remus do for Sirius ? Not much. But somehow in the fics he is Sirius' lifeline while James is as useful as a potted plant.

Another thing wolfstar fics have is usually Sirius being an asshole to Remus, but almost never the other way around? I must have read one fic where remus is the asshole in their relationship and it felt kinda refreshing (as bad as it sounds).
