I struggled for years with my weight. The number on the scale owned me, it controlled me. I decided in January 2017 to take charge of my life. I have three amazing children that I want walk through life with and not just merely existing!! They deserve more than that and so do I!! I lost a total of 165lbs. I have recently regained a fraction of that back but THATS OKAY!!! The old me would have self sabotaged and continued to let the scale climb! Meet: @cuttingcarbscarmen 🇦🇺 I’m 23 and have lost 121 lbs. I’ve have been overweight for most of my life, I became morbidly obese and my highest weight was 144kg (318 Lbs). I had VSG surgery on the 5th of July this year because I had tried almost every other method to lose weight with minimal success and always gaining the weight back + more! So far I am 5 months post-op and all up I have lost just over 55kg For the longest time I didn’t have much hope, I just couldn’t see it, I was so petrified because I could see myself heading towards a life full of weight related illnesses but then I discovered WLS and did lots of research and just knew it was for me. I’m taking this new lifestyle and tool with both hands and finally putting all my dreams, hopes and goals into action in hopes for a healthy and happy longer life. To me body positivity means appreciating everybody and every body’s beauty, in all forms whether it be shape, size, colour etc, working towards loving yourself through every stage of the journey. I have been documenting my journey online to keep myself accountable but also I am loving this community to bits! Starting Tip: Being in the mindset of really wanting this healthier lifestyle and be willing to do whatever it takes and never look back! 👉 I am currently researching the best farms in my area for purchasing fresh produce while it’s in season while we are in the midst of plotting out our own gardens. So, when I go shopping I always think, “Are the choices I am making supporting sustainable practices?”⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁.⁣ ⁣ ✔️ Shop the perimeter of the store because generally all the fresh stuff is on the outside perimeter and all of the processed stuff is in the inside aisles.⁣ ✔️ Not wrapped in plastic⁣ ✔️ Not packed with preservatives and a list of ingredients I don’t understand⁣ ✔️ The food is in its natural state or has undergone minor processing. Veggies,fruits, beans, whole grains, nuts, granola etc.⁣ ✔️ Is my plant milk from a more sustainable crop like oat milk?⁣ ✔️ If it is packaged, can I reuse the package? Or is compostable? (Recycling not so much! I try to avoid that wherever I can since most of our items don’t get recycled anyways!)⁣ ✔️ Less is more.
