Choose You

When you love, I hope you never forget who you are. I hope you still allow yourself some time to do things that bring you joy; maybe it's reading as you are cuddled in your bed, maybe it's taking long walks in the park alone, maybe it's taking yourself out to dinner. It doesn't matter so long as you still do the things you did before you became a 'we'. So that when you are left with nothing— when that person chooses to walk away from you— you will still be able to stand again. You won't be lost, confused on who you are because the only 'you' you knew was the you that was with that person.

I'm not saying it won't hurt, because I know it will. They will still leave some gaps in your life despite holding onto yourself. But if it does happen, I hope you heal from the pain. I hope you fill that gap until someone comes along and does it for you. I hope that you will have the strength to move forward. Even if it means being alone. And lastly, I hope that at the end of the day, you can still find comfort in the ‘you’ you have chosen to be. The one that cares for you, loves you, and cherishes you even when the rest of the world has fucked you up.

Begin a loving practice of patience with yourself first, love who you are as you are and slowly you become more love to all. Explore love through thoughts, words, actions which make you feel lighter and brighter. Give love to you, self love and unconditional love from the heart that creative magic goes everywhere.

Ever been in a room full of people and yet feel terribly alone? Yeah. Same. I made a promise to myself at the start of this year is to never allow people to make me feel small, insignificant - including the voices in my head. I turned off the noise. So I distanced myself …and started practicing loving myself first and turning the negative self talk into affirming ones. It was hard and lonely at first. Many noticed my absence when I popped up in certain circles - out of sight of our mind I guess. 🤷🏾‍♀️ However, there were a few who saw my distance, stayed close to me, allowed me to move best for me and loved me unconditionally. Doing this definitely cleared the way for everything that’s come my way since then; so many good people, great opportunities and real life moments. My self love is me saying no to the thoughts in my head that I am not good enough, it was to focus on me, my journey, my healing, my love, my life. I love with all my being and I expect nothing less, I’d prefer to “leave quietly” (hold tight clubhouse on that one!) I wear my heart on my sleeve with boundaries now because I’m at a point in my life where I love myself more than ever before. I wrote all of this to say, go easy on yourself, love yourself because you’re the only person you are around 24/7.
