“Anton Ivanov and Sasha. Though you probably know Anton as Yuri. He was fucking lying all these years, Boss. Actually, he killed Yuri five years ago, faked that accident and took his place, then—”
“Wait. Go back.” My throat grows dry with every word. “Did you just say Sasha?”
“Yeah. She said, and I quote, ‘I’m alive. Though you probably know by now that the body was a ploy. Next time I see you, I’m going to kill you.’”
“She…is alive?” The words strangle me on their way out.
“Yeah. She managed to escape the bombing, but that’s not the point right now. She helped me leave Russia because her family wants to kill everyone in this house, including your family. She said she wants to set up a meeting for just the two of you so no one else gets killed in this war. She’s doing this behind their backs, so they can’t find out…”
Maksim trails off when I drop the bottle of vodka. It crashes against the ground as I throw my head back and bark out a long, deep laugh.
Life rushes through my limbs all at once, washing away all emptiness and the hell that came with it.
I’m breathing. No.
I’m alive.
Fuck.
Fucking fuck.
She actually got me. She nearly drove me insane, but all this time, she was in Russia doing fuck knows what.
She wants to kill me the next time she sees me?
By all means.
Anything for my beautiful wife."
OH MY FUCKING GOD?? IM LITERALLY ON MY KNEES.

3. Heart of My Monster: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Started: March 12
Finished: March 14
This series is not half as bad as I thought!! I never thought I say this tbh... But then again I chose RK's less chaotic series because the things I've heard and occasionally read bits of her other books? Yeah I had every right to not want to pick her books up haha I loved the first two books atmosphere better than the last, maybe it was because of bodyguard romance trope... but I loved the last one nonetheless. Honestly RK is a decent writer I didn't expect that.
4. The Favor by Suzanne Wright -> ⭐⭐⭐.5/5
Started: March 18
Finished: March 21
The writing in this one was... something? I normally don't care about the writing but this one was... bad!! It felt like I'm reading a fanfiction (specially the last 15%) So many unnecessary details were shared that this book could've been so much shorter without them, it really felt like I'm reading wattpad story and it pains me because I actually loved the characters and the plot.
5. Camera Chemistry by Chelsea Curto -> ⭐⭐⭐/5
Started: 23 March
Finished: 24 March
70% introvert side of me had so much difficulty reading this lmao. One of my pet peeves in books is public love confession. It took me 30 minutes to read the last chapter and it was the shortest chapter ever... spoiler (not really): and the whole photo shoot scene was also difficult to go through because again... PEOPLE WERE WATCHING. It was mostly smut and well it's a novella so I didn't expected much. I love it all the same tho :)
DNF: The Devil's Vice by Mindy Paige (at 10%)
No❤️ I am yet to find a good staking, dark romance...

Synopses:
Blood of My Monster: 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I’m out for revenge. He’s out to rule the world.
Kirill and I are as different as day and night.
We shouldn’t have been in the same frame or universe.
But we meet under the strangest circumstances.
He’s my superior in the military and the man who’ll introduce me to carnage.
His charm and exterior perfection shouldn’t have tempted me.
Behind the smokescreen lurks a manipulative emotionless monster.
And that monster might find out all my secrets, including the reason why I’m pretending to be a man.
He might also lure me to the point of no return.
Lies of My Monster: 3.5/5 🌟🌟🌟💫
In our brutal world, there’s no such thing as the truth.
Lies overflow until they become a reality.
But I’m determined to uncover what happened to my family.
One problem, though.
My monster, Kirill.
We are not the same anymore.
It’s become hard to trust one another.
But it’s downright impossible to stay away from each other.
It’s mad, chaotic, and wrong, but it’s us.
And we might have to pay for it with blood.
Heart of My Monster: 3.5/5 🌟🌟🌟💫
I’m a man with no morals or feelings.
The only reason I made it this far is to reign.
Nothing and no one will stop me.
Or that should’ve been the plan.
Now, my only goal is to get back the woman who belongs to me.
Sasha thinks it’s all over, but we’re only getting started.
She’s my woman. My partner. My wife.
Mine.
Review:
TW//: murder, attempted rape, harassment, and other dark themes.
Well, well, well! Look at that! There are still some Rina books that I’ll actually enjoy!
I’m of the opinion that Rina should abandon the RES world (after eliava), and stick to writing dark mafia romances. As they are far better and more believable than the contemporary(ish) others. By this, I mean it’s far more believable why mafia men are overly possessive and close-minded than rich spoiled assholes.
I really enjoyed this trilogy. The first book is my favorite, it was a good start for the series, and set a good tone and pace to follow.
For a dark romance that didn’t advertise itself as a grand love story, nor did its characters express some bizarre romantic feelings after a single encounter. In actuality, both main characters at numerous points in the first book admit that they are attracted to one another; however, they are definitely not “in love” and I quite liked this, as many dark romance these days advertise being grand romances when there’s literally nothing romantic about them. Despite this, both Sasha and Kirill were very affectionate--in their own twisted ways--towards each other.
As I read these books while they were being released, I really hated the cliffhanger at the end of the first book. It rather felt very jarring and disconnected than a suspenseful ending to a complete mini-arc.
The second book was much shorter than the first. It didn’t digress nor linger on side plots. It was very quick and to the point. I quite loved that as well. The ending left me seething and wishing a grewsome, lonesome death upon Kirill. As I considered him the devil incarnate for “the evil plan” he pulled against poor Sasha.
The finale was much like the second book; being very concise and precise. It managed to answer all the questions book one and two posed and tied the series with a pretty blood-red ribbon bow.
I would venture to say that this is probably Rina’s most consistent trilogy. There were no major highs followed by abysmal lows, just a good steady flow of plot!
Definitely recommend it for readers looking for a darker Mulan-esque romance.

Book Blurb: I’m a man with no morals or feelings.

This book is the final part of a trilogy and can't be read on its own.
Review:
The finale of the series, after faking her death and assuming that Kirill tried to kill her, Sasha has run away with her brother and back to her family. Sasha assumes that Kirill tried to kill her after she told him she loved him to get to her family and that it was all a ploy, marrying her, as she knows he went to a wedding the very next day. She is furious, devastated, and wants him dead.... Meanwhile Kirill has gone completely mad without Sasha, thinking she died after finding a body in the wreckage of the cottage he left her at. He’s massacred his way trying to find any clues as to who could have done this to her... and when he finds out that she’s alive and wants him dead? He couldn’t be happier to give his wife anything she wants.... anything except a divorce because the only way he’s ever leaving her is if its in a bodybag. Kirill knows he isn’t the one to try to kill her so he has to convince Sasha about the true events and figure out who is trying to harm her all the while trying to get her to trust him again, even if it means holding her brother hostage and pretending to agree to get a divorce in 3 months because lets be honest, when it comes to her divorce is not even a word in his dictionary. Can Kirill and Sasha repair all the damage that’s been done as well as figure out who is trying to destroy them or is it too late for them? What an absolutely fabulous way to end the series! I had so much fun reading this and getting to know Kirill and Sasha’s twisted but very sexy and dark romance. I love that they are perfect for each other, both feeding each other’s monsters and being the perfect love for the other. Seriously you’ve outdone yourself Rina Kent, I can’t wait to read more of your books!!!

The world has always been monotone to me—either black or gray. The only person who introduced me to a fucking rainbow of colors has now turned black.
She’s now being ripped out of my heart and leaving a bottomless pit in her wake.
Everything has turned to ashes. All I can do is glare at the sky, feel moisture filling my eyes, and let out a raw scream.
