It's so curious that on the lost humanity path Lane loses her ability to feel and yet is fascinated by other's feelings. She becomes a Watcher, cold and detached, watching other's pain with the excitement of an explorer studying something inexplicable, something unreachable. Cain is a detached Watcher too. Bored, burdened by immortality and necessity to compel to humans, waiting patiently for Lane to come to the revelation.

And yet, and yet.

Ironically enough, Lane seems more human with Cain than with any other character. She's confused, wary, distrustful. His touches make her burn. He evokes awe in her.

It's as if like losing her humanity makes her closer to divinity, to the numbing peace, and she feels more human next to a divine being exactly because this divine calmness is resonating within her

But the ultimate question is — without her humanity, will Lane be found?
