takin' a look at this request, i thought this was gonna be a real hard one. trackin' down the danny devito version is a piece of cake. but the original version with the vampires? anythin' but. or so i thought...

first thing i did was took a stroll down the Madame Curator's museum of eccentric antiquities, the Hellsite Hall of Fame itself. i went in and found the post rather quickly as it was a new edition to her gallery. but that's when i realized it wasn't an image that had been edited, it was the original post. i sent a correspondence along to the mysterious museum cryptid askin' if it were possible to track down the unedited version. while i waited for her response, i decided to take a look through the post's notes. my thought was that maybe, if i scrolled far enough, i could find reblogs from the time when this post was still about vampires. but what i found instead was incredible.

a screenshot showin' the original version of the post, with a second username included. i quickly searched that name on tumblr and found the post almost immediately. the original version about vampires had been found.

this one was one i thought was gonna be real hard, but ended up bein' quite an enjoyable ride. thanks for takin' me on this journey! have a great day!

For those curious, I don't got dirt or shit on VivziePop. As I've made clear before I followed her back in 2009 and I talked to her like on devintart and tumblr 1 or 2 times. No, I don't remember what was said between us really or exactly. The tumblr blog I remember hearing back from her is long dead so I have no receipts.

I kinda lost interest in her because her fanbase was way too intense and mean in 2014 (no idea about any of the Dollcreep drama), and because I was also in a soft antisjw phase myself then and reading BadWebcomicsWiki - I saw her being talked about all throughout the forums on that hellsite up and until 2017. I also saw the completely different forum posts made there about Hazbin at the time- which os of course how I learned about the Dollcreep fiasco, frootrollup1, and Angel Dust r@pe art someone did of Viv.

If you interested and/or curious about any personal anecdotes I can remember from the best of memory -these are NOT facts, though I'm happy if anyone else can back them up if u also have memories of this- I can list those out:

-I found Viv through her fanart first and specifically her fanart of Shane Acker's 9. I loved Viv's fanart- it was always so distinct in her own style but still recognizable. Anyone else in the 9 fandom remember that "design a beast" contest deviantart had? Yeah she took place in that. She also did artwork of the stitchpunks inspired by Kinkei's chibi-pinup style. They were not as sexy as that would have you believe. She did fanart for Rango, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Rio, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Also remember her begrudgingly liking Tangled after the fact because it wasn't 2D like Princess and the Frog was.

-The first time I saw Viv's characters in comic form it was in a comic where it was Halloween and the ZP gang (Zill, Kayla, Jack, Spam, and Vanex) were trick or treating and got stuck in some dark twisted version of their home. Isn't this the plot to the Invader Zim Halloween episode?

-Ickle!Viv was pretty skilled at drawing animals. Personally I think she still is but this was specifically the thing which stood out about her to me. I really love when she drew/draws animals. I also actually think her creatures look genuinely good, especially the dragon looking ones.

-Viv was ALWAYS so clamoring and adoring of her fandoms, especially animated stuff. Even on deviantart, animation fans are cynical and snarky so it was nice to see someone with their own established style be into movies that other people would mock you for as a teenager or god forbid an adult. Didn't make you feel so alone.

-I saw Viv's ZP gang develop in style from 2009-2013 and I gotta say I liked her og cast so much more when they were teenytiny and children. Zill just looked better then.

-Speaking of Zill, before I saw one of her posts getting mad at people who called Zill a "neopet"...I said her style reminded me of neopets. I was 12! I didn't know and also I hadn't gotten to that one doodle in her gallery at the time where Zill and 2009!Viv were cursing out this blob for calling him that.

-I also personally saw Alastor develop from out of those days, or at least the character who would become Alastor. It was the red black, buck-looking deer from 2006-2008ish who's disc Viv said was "the evilest character in all of zoophobia!!" I know she liked the directtovideo disney sequels and really liked Bambi II. I'm not convinced Alastor and Autumn don't exist souley because of Bambi II.

-I have no proof of it happening on my end because I ended up deleting a shit ton of crap on my old deviantart out of embarrassment and I think Viv deleted her posts about it. But a distinctly remember an artist in around 2011/2012 w I was really into art trades did a trade with me where they drew my 9 oc, in spite of us really not connecting in any particular way or being 'close'. They worked in traditional medium and had he/him pronouns and their art was so obviously inspired from Viv's. It wasn't traced, though- just very Viv-inspired.

I remember watching Viv and also that guy when suddenly Viv and Faustisee made a huge callout graph showing the artstyle and characters that had been stolen from her and she showed that guy's work. I also distinctly remember saying in Viv's journal abt the callout something along the lines of "this is bad, but, this guy is a friend of mine [rlly barely mutuals], he didn't mean it". To which Viv replied with something like: "then tell ur friend that what he's doing is bad >:c". So I did and that's when he told me he'd been told enough by her base how to feel and that he was leaving dA. And he left. and nuked his entire gallery, including his part of art trade, which made finding the proof of this encounter even harder to track down. Because he was no longer there, I deleted the piece I did for him as part of my mass embarrassment deletion.

-There was one other encounter I had personally' with Viv that I do remember and it's only because she was actually friendly to me and I liked that coming from my what was, at the time, a fav artist: I like the 2012 Frankenweenie remake and was really incensed back in the day that people weren't liking it because it is a ymmv-case. One of those people happened to be Viv and I def remember messaging her about how "I disagree with you, hmf" and then having INSTANT REGRET and suddenly spamming her with this way too personal "I'm sorry please don't hate me"-ventrant thing and, for all I know the Viv stans can be overly apologetic, I really do think it was my indiagnosed OCD/ADHD talking there. Anyway, what was sweet of her to do even in a passing way was she was all "it's okay. you didn't upset me but lol yeah ur not changing my take on frankenweenie either".

Viv describes herself as "being everyone's friend" and really- where there are a lot of points now that I don't think she cares if she is, most of the time I think the problem is she doesn't know how mean or backhanded she is. She really does strike me as the kind of person who never grew out of 2000s-2010s highschool and that petty thing were you get angry and lash out at others behind their backs but then sweet up after that, and where you think lovebombing = being genuinely appreciative. And yeah, that's still abusive and volatile. Because, and this is all from a decade ago and an antidote I only recall because it was Viv, but I truly didn't get the feeling that Viv thought I was beneath her or that she was trying to own me buy telling me she didn't like the movie I did. The vibe I got from her was "I don't really care about this but also I don't want you freaking out, calm down".

I rb a bunch of critical stuff (still don't like antiHazbin shit) because, and I still mean this, I do still genuinely like her style and wish I could be in her fandom w/o her stans basically gatekeeping me from being my own fan. I really am disappointed as the fan I am that Viv doesn't take better care of herself, her shows or the people working for her.

!! CALLOUT + REMOVING ALL DOWNLOADS !!

I've officially had it with the modeling community at this point. Once again, models of mine have been stolen and reuploaded without credit, with my original rules taken out, and without permission. I'm sick of this, because it has happened more than once now.

The above user is compiling multiple "new" downloads for various mmd models, my Montecore edits being among them, in a similar fashion to how LyraLaney would. Is this Lyra? Not sure, don't really give a shit if it is.

Everyone, please go through their gallery. If you find any of your works re-uploaded, report immediately. Do not comment, either, as the wonderful Winx model creator called them out and was given absolute disrespect as a result.

Due to this mass rule breaking, I'm done. I'm removing my model downloads permanently. I will not give people like this the opportunity to re-upload my work as if they have a right to distribute it against my will. Not only are the deviations themselves being deleted, I will be deleting the downloads at the source. NO ONE will get the models I worked hard on ever again. People like this have ruined that chance.

Now, I admit. I rule break. But at least when I DO rule break, I keep it for a personal model that is never given out to anyone. I may break the editing rule here and there, but never would I cross the line into re-uploading or even distributing such content. As such, don't expect to see mmd content on my dA ever again. That will be solely for my tumblr. I will not associate with the bullshit MMDC drama and content theft that's taken over this hellsite.

A DMCA has been filed regarding my models with proof that I had created the models and uploaded them first. This marks the second time someone had reuploaded my Montecore Miku without my consent, and the first time someone reuploaded my Montecore Rin. Prior to this new event, my 90s Aesthetic Gumi and Gumi Redesign models were reuploaded to Aplaybox. I'm not going through having to report over and over and over again.

Also a bit of a sidenote, the Montecore Rin pack I specifically did NOT include a nude model becuase she's a minor. MEGACollector not only reuploaded my model pack of both Miku and Rin, but they also edited Rin's swimsuit model into a nude model that WAS NEVER PART OF THE ORIGINAL MODEL PACK AND WAS NOT SOMETHING I WAS ALLOWING TO BE DONE.

With (credible) rumors about tumblr soon selling its data to midjourney for AI training, it truly is a peculiar situation for everyone on this website.

Personally, it's a choice between yeeting all my art off the platform à la twitter or keep it, but with some asterisks attached for the future.

For one deleting it all won't actually delete the post (and thus art) itself, due to how tumblr works. Even now glazing everything in post is useless, because edits don't carry over in existing reblogs.

So deleting the blog is mostly off the table.

But what now?

It's a bit hard to say for me. As I do have some attachment to this hellsite. That's why even when I was mostly on twitter, I kept being somewhat active here

But as time goes one, the good will I had keeps getting stretched and now this is the final straw for me.

Obviously, going forward, every picture on this blog will be glazed, nightshaded when the webversion is out. Sadly, I think this also means the update frequency will decrease a lot, as glazing will add a not insignificant amount of time to the posting process.

I'll also start using tumblr less, either migrating to other websites like bluesky etc. or just become less active on social media as a whole. I'll still be in the qijiu week discord though, so you can find me and my scattered art there too.

Otherwise, when I remember, I post occasional stuff on ko-fi as well.(even have a sorted gallery of sorts, so it's a nice place to have things sorted)

The thing that got me the most about this charming video was the mimicry! I kind of knew ravens did this, but I loved Fable saying "Hi" in what is clearly the same tone her handler uses. So that's where I started with this silly little fic. Enjoy!

Matthew took a deep breath and attempted to draw himself up regally. “I Am The Shaper of Form, Prince of Stories.” 

Mervyn’s orange face scrunched up. “Nah, needs work, kid.” 

“Wait wait, I can do better!” Matthew cawwed, fluttering his wings. He took another breath, closed his eyes this time. “Guardian of Sleepers, Lord of the Dream Domain.” 

Mervyn waggled his head from side to side. “Eh, better, but still not there.” 

“Anthropomorphic Personification of the Collective Unconscious.”

“Whoa there!” Mervyn put up his hands. “Too far, kid! Pull it back!”   

“Sorry, sorry,” Matthew said in his own voice. “How’s this?” he cleared his throat. “King of Dreams, Ruler of the Nightmare Realms.” 

Mervyn’s eyes went wide. “Oh yeah! You got it, kid!” 

“I am the Sandman,” Matthew continued. 

“Very amusing.”

Every feather on Matthew’s body stood on end as he watched Merv’s cigar fall from his gaping mouth into the dirt. Slowly, inch by inch, Matthew forced himself to turn his head and look behind him. 

Lord Morpheus was there, clad in a gray t-shirt and black jeans, arms crossed over his chest and frown on his face. Just behind him stood Lucienne, face contorted with the effort of containing her laughter. 

Matthew’s heart hammered in his chest. “Uh, hi. Boss.”

“You might have considered practicing with something other than my names.”

“I’m sorry, Boss, I j-“

Lord Morpheus held out his hand, his face stern. “Come, Matthew.”

Matthew flexed his feet against the branch and tried to look small and inoffensive. “Uh… where are we going?” 

“To my gallery. I am going to block the visual connection.”

If Matthew had eyebrows they would be scrunched up as he flew to Lord Morpheus’s outstretched hand. 

“Wait…” Matthew landed as gently as he could and was immediately transferred to Lord Morpheus’s shoulder, “you want me to talk to your siblings? As you?” 

Now he could see the little smirk on Lord Morpheus’s face. 

“I do.”

“Oh this is gonna be fun!”

I've been meaning to finally make the migration from Twitter for some time, and there are days where trying to find, much less stay on the rhythm, is more difficult than it's supposed to be, but that's the nature of all hobbies and hobbiests

You never really stop making, whatever you do for a hobby, you just find it easier to make when you're on the rhythm

but even when off the rhythm, making never really goes away, the beats just slower now, and that's okay

I'll take things at a pace I'm comfortable with, and let this little gallery on this affectionate hellsite act as a means of gentle therapy, so that hopefully I can make my hobby, and make my way, back onto the rhythm

a rather simple request for a pretty iconic post...

i would've gone down to the Search Bar, but no. i knew exactly who had this post. instead i went uptown to the museum of post-based oddities, the Hellsite Hall of Fame. i entered that labyrinthine art gallery, its hallways constantly shifting and changing as the non-Euclidean structure morphed around me. this was a place that seemed to be designed to get you trapped in it's never-ending halls, but i had no problem moving through it. i knew the Void's tricks, and i knew how to outsmart it. i was quickly able to find that iconic food order laid out before me, framed like the Mona Lisa itself. i snapped a picture of it, not wanting to steal the actual art, and left the museum...

here you are! now, i'm not sure if this really was a request, but it gave me an excuse to visit my dear Madame Curator's establishment, so i'm not complainin'! have a great day!

I love how you're just unabashedly yourself in the face of whatever life throws your way, your writing is always amazing and hooks me even if it's not a subject I'm personally interested in, and you honestly have the best main rogues gallery characterisations out of just about everyone else I know on this hellsite [I just don't always reblog because a lot of minors follow me]. We are our own worst critics and I do wish you'd be less harsh on yourself, though.

Consider this your permission to rant about comics as modern myths, from a classics major who would love to hear it :)

HI OKAY so this ask might've been months ago but it's fine we're here to answer it now

SO BASICALLY one of the main features of myths is that they're archetypal, right? So long as you follow the archetypes and the general flow of the story it's the same myth. There is no definitive version, only the teller's version. Think about this with comic reboots and different versions and timelines. So long as Spider-Man is funny, slings webs, and lives in a city with a rogues gallery, that's Spider-Man. Actually, Across The Spider-Verse has somewhat demonstrated even that list is hewing too close to the bone, Spider-Man is more flexible even than that.

Consider Batman. Grim backstory, detective, uses fear as a weapon for good, has a dual identity with one consuming the other. Who to make, then, of Godkiller Batman? Of Chaos Nexus Batman? We still recognize them as Batman, but they're not detectives, they don't have dual identities, they're arguably not even fighting on the good side. Still the same character. But Owl-man? No, that's somebody else. That's a narrative foil.

We have good indications that what we assume about Dionysus isn't who Dionysus was to the people that worshipped him. Similarly, Red Hood is not, to me, who Red Hood is to somebody obsessed with the resurrected wrong trope.

If you're looking for modern myths, comics characters are your best bet. You don't have to have read, watched, or listened to Spider-Man content to know who that is. Living in the US or our sphere of cultural hegemony is enough. Similarly, a random Greek might not be able to list the 12 labors, but they know who Heracles was supposed to be.

Franchises don't usually work. There's a canon, definitive version of Obi-wan Kenobi. You can't really have a re-imagining of Old Ben. A re-imagining of Iron Man though? There's 3 of them being printed right now, with no relation to the MCU besides the idea of a guy and a suit. There's one where it's a knight in an unconventionally advanced suit of armor set during the middle ages, but a reader can look at that and go "yeah, that's Iron Man alright." I'm not sure how besides "archetypes just work like that," it's probably helped by the stamping of the name on the cover (similarly to how there's a couple dozen myths about different things Prometheus did, and some of them don't even seem like the same guy but short of a persistent translation error we're to understand it is; the storyteller often begins with "let me tell you a story of the titan Prometheus," or some variation to that effect).

All of this comes from a class I took on Ancient Mythology and a couple classes on genre, archetypal thinking, and characterization. I'm not an expert, but I'm fascinated by the ways humanity hasn't really changed, even over several millennia. We still just have our blorbos, and believe me there's people on this hellsite that would go in the woods and hold a Bacchanal if society was still structured in a way that allowed it.

Honestly you can't really dispute the reputation toon has for being a football loving drunk city because that's.. very true. but there's soooo much to it that isn't boozing

we have sooooo much history to begin with. I always recommend people go to see the Castle and Cathedral if they're interested in roman history (a lot of links to Hadrian naturally) and Norman history, and especially if you're an architecture nerd like me (Grey Street is also a great place for architecture). Plus we were the second city for a looong time

There's also a lot of museums and science centres people don't seem to think about much. The life centre and the great North museum are both great days out as well as Shipley art gallery (technically gateshead). Also the discovery museum!!! It has the whole British Film Institute archive and tons of maritime history

Mostly though, people don't realise how many wonderful green spaces there are near toon. Tyne Riverside and Derwenthaugh are both stunning !!! Also, I have spent sooooo much time at Jesmond Dene just sitting and watching the waterfall. Also the coastline in the summer is glorious and heading up to whitley bay when the weather is nice is just *chefs kiss*👌👌👌

Not to forget the amazing surrounding areas, you're so close to Durham which is a gorgeous city and of course Alnwick in the other direction (if anyone is ever there, try going through the Poison garden without passing out)
