So basically from then on they were just a pair of rich kids who hated their capitalist parents and treated every forced date as a hangout between friends to just chat shit and have some fun for once, and Adrien introduced Kagami to his school friends and she and Mari still get close - the three are inseperable

Luka is obviously there from day 1, unlike how he was in the show, and very quickly into the school year his and Juleka’s houseboat became the designated hangout spot for the class

Marinette is often at the boat, Adrien is constantly at the boat after he meets Luka (like 2 weeks into the year) - the difference is tho, Marinette is there for her friend Juleka and Adrien is there for his crush friend Luka

Adrien and Marinette constantly also visit the boat late at night as superheroes because Adrien wants to get away from his house and Marinette finds Luka's guitar playing soothing to her busy whirring mind - they also just want an excuse to chat to Luka

For once an adaptationless book I'm Unhealthy about actually has a decent sized following and I can talk about it without screaming into the void of obscurity, so I'm gonna take mad advantage of that and spew out all the Thoughts I had into one post. Yay!

One of the first things he learns to do is cook properly (re: stuff that isn't seaweed and fish) and throws himself into it 100%

Was never much of a cook before but since he was kind of forced to learn in order to survive he's eager to branch out

Remembers his mother making Ghanaian food for he and his sisters when they were kids so he tries to learn some of those dishes

And the first time he makes one for his mom she cries

Actually it's hard for her to look at him at all without crying

He sort of understands why on an intellectual level, but still feels so disconnected from everything that it confuses and alarms him

His dad isn't quite sure what to do with him

Tries to bond in a dad kind of way and he latches on pretty quick to any kind of intellectual discussion but always feels like he makes his dad a little sad

In general he wants to connect with his family but can't help noticing the sad/concerned/disturbed energy they feel when they're around him

And again he understands why, but just can't bring himself to feel the same. They're new people! A whole family he forgot he had! Isn't that exciting and good and why do they look at him funny???

On the other hand, when he first sees them again. He does in fact cry, quite a bit, and tries to reason with himself that it's Matthew crying and not him, but then again maybe it is him because he simply doesn't know what else to do

There's just a lot of tears from all five of them in the first little while

His older sister is soooo protective over him. That's her little baby brother and now he's back after she'd been certain he was dead and she really takes him under her wing

(It's probably her who shows him how to make her favourite recipes)

Younger sister was fresh out of high school when he first disappeared and feels like he's missed out on a good chunk of her life so she throws herself into trying to fill in the gaps for him

Overall I think she'd handle everything the best, it's still confusing and hard but she manages to keep up her spirits by showing him all the cool stuff he's forgotten about in the world, they go on a lot of little adventures together

He struggles with not being able to talk about The House though. He knows it's important that he keep up the pretense that he'd been kidnapped and has amnesia etc. etc., but he wants to tell his family about The House. He wants them to see what he saw and loved for so long even if it turned out to be terrible, and it's so hard

Tries out a few different names. His family just calls him Matthew and he's okay with that, he's not really sure what else to call himself for now but would kind of like something different

Raphael is the highest recipient of this. Almost every time he sees her he's got a new name that he shyly asks if she can call him just to see how it sounds

She is very patient with this, but also sometimes forgets which name he's decided on for the week

Generally he latches onto her very hard and politely but firmly insists they stay friends

Obviously she's quite a busy person, but she makes time to see him and check on how he's doing whenever she can

They also go on adventures (as he calls them)

She takes him to the coasts, and he spends hours wandering the most desolate seeming beaches, taking detailed notes on how they differ from each other, and trying to feed the birds

god i love the katacule f/f side ships soooo much. my personal fave is MariSofi mostly for the Aesthetic but also because they're my two favorite characters in the show and I think they should kiss

so ok here are some thoughts about the f/f combos

MarySofi is very sweet because these two have grown up together and have teamed up all the time on pretty much everything when it comes to Katarina so they've had so much time to get to know each other. Sophia gives Mary a chance to mellow out a bit since usually Mary is very headstrong and determined and constantly working hard, while Sophia is more of a quiet type who can help Mary slow down. Mary also helps Sophia be more assertive and confident in herself just by being around her and Sophia adores her for that boost. They're very soft and Sophia likes to share f/f romance novels with Mary; that's actually how their mutual feelings started to grow because Sophia was the first person to essentially reassure Mary that there was nothing wrong or weird about her for loving a woman by sharing stories where that love was normal and okay, so Mary is really grateful to Sophia for helping her feel more solid in her identity during times when she felt like maybe she was kidding herself and she'd never be taken seriously

MariSofi is super super soft. They are very snuggly and touchy feely and especially love playing with each other's hair. Maria taught Sophia how to bake and Sophia likes to make treats based on the things the characters in her favorite books eat and share them with Maria; she'll also perch in the corner of the kitchen and read out loud to Maria while Maria bakes, like ye olde audiobooks lol. I think aside from Katarina, Sophia is probably one of the more down-to-earth nobles of the group and while none of them really wield their position over anyone, there's still that pressure of knowing they're some of the most powerful people in the kingdom, but Sophia is just so gentle that Maria doesn't feel that pressure with her at all and Sophia has never really Felt like a noble so being with Maria makes her feel a lot more relaxed. I think they both really connect with each other on the topic of feeling as though they were born a curse on their loved ones and how they were able to work through that feeling and love the parts of themselves that they thought made them cursed.

MariMary (which is such a funny ship portmanteau) i think was a much slower relationship, because Mary initially was the most jealous of Maria for managing to get so far ahead with Katarina so quickly and easily while Mary had been trying literally for years to get Katarina to recognize her feelings for her and it took Maria like two seconds of existing for Katarina to start thinking shit like "wow if I were a man i'd marry her" so I can imagine that's a point of tension on Mary's side. Despite this it is impossible to hate Maria and Mary melts pretty quickly especially as she realizes that Maria is working SO hard, which definitely reminds Mary of how hard she's worked to be the perfect noblewoman who can stand at Katarina's side. They also both have histories with being bullied and struggling to work through the scars that left so I think they could find some comfort and relaxation in each other as they realize the similarities in each other and that they don't have to put on a front. Maria gives Mary the chance to let her hair loose, so to speak, taking a break from putting on airs as a noblewoman, while Mary's forceful personality gives Maria the boost she needs to not shy away from conflict and to feel confident in standing up for herself and believing that she has the right to belong in the space she's in without regard to her background.

it makes perfect sense for harrow to pray that the tomb stays shut forever, because if the tomb never opens she can continue to ignore her desires and be good in the way her faith has taught her

despite the fact that she wants the tomb open, she is disgusted by this desire!! she wants it to go away!! and ofc, it’s the fundamental gay christian experience to try and “pray the gay away”

and when we think about the circumstances of harrow’s birth and how much she already hates herself for that, it’s no stretch to imagine that harrow views her entire existence as a sin, and these desires as an extension of her inherent sinfulness that she must desperately try to atone for and get rid of

and even when you’ve reached a point of realizing that maybe you don’t agree with the faith you were taught, it’s still so easy to revert to those old prayers and habits, especially when you feel out of control (which is. most of the series for harrow)

Favorite movies and shows i’ve watched in 2021

I've only watched a few because of my weak attention span that year. In no particular order.

Soul (2020)

I rarely watch animated films, but the premise is very interesting. I don’t think i have seen a before-life concept. Plus, music? Especially jazz. Light and heartwarming at the same time. Will make you reflect about your life, self, identity and purpose. 

Rafiki (2018)

SAPPHICS! You all need to watch this. Tired of white lesbians dominating film when this gem is right here. It is also banned in Kenya soooo let’s all support it! One of the best chemistries i’ve seen, vibrant cinematography, simple and well-executed, the best soundtack (made me cry) and the acting is natural, but deep. Just a content warning for blatant homophobia and violence near the end. And when i recommend a wlw media, there’s an assurance that it’s a happy ending so don’t worry my loves. 

Three Identical strangers (2018)

Oh this one was a big Mind F! I thought it was just a usual netflix documentary, but i was wrong. With my short attention span, i was focused from the start to end. And it started fun and chill, but has amazing lessons. Not a waste of time. 

Dickinson (2019 - 2021)

I have to admit that i haven’t finish this, but it’s not the show’s fault. Despite that, i still put it in my recommendation list because it is unique and entertaining. Modern dialogues that other shows can’t pull off. Also, it’s vert funny. 

Jiva (2021 -)

This show is fire! Female-centered and i think this is the only street dance show/movie where all leads are women?? Not sure, but please recommend if you know some. No white-washing too. It always boggles me everything white people are the center of dance media because uhm hello? It’s black people’s culture and creation. Also it’s time for people outside Africa to see the beauty of their dance (South Africa in particular).

Mine (2021)

You know it’s a good drama when Kim Seo Hyung is in it coz she is very picky on which project to choose. Not a typical infidelity story, it’s very feminist. I also think this is one of the best lesbian representations i’ve seen in media. Her character is very smart, calm, strong and didn’t make her sexuality or romantic life her whole personality. And i love the female-friendship and solidarity in this show. 

How to become a tyrant (2021 -)

The plot is on the title itself. If you think your leader is a tyrant, this is how you confirm it. Recommend it to everyone. Also, it’s not boring and dragging so you know, it’s digestible to people who are new or really not into politics. 

The sex lives of college girls (2021 -)

Ok this is one of the best teen shows i’ve watched and it’s college! We rarely get that. First of all, the leads are women! And there’s no unnecessary cat fights. I hate teen shows where women ang being pitted against each other and mostly because of a man. This is so fresh and authentic. It broke a lot of stereotypes too.

Another WLW! This one is so cute and i also find it campy and dramatic (in a good way). And i’m a sucker for period pieces (except when they are white because i’m tired). I think there should be more chinese WLWs.

this is soooo cray to me, because i feel like this whole moment captures the four of them so well. in every other universe that's not this one, it really is big and bee, and steve and nancy soulmatism hours. it's just this one where nancy and johnathan choose each other and steve and bug choose each other. love love the dynamic between feeling the string of fate connect you to a person yet choosing someone else because it's what you both want......in a way it's more powerful than any string of fate can be.

also the part where she kisses johnathan's cheek to savour it knowing its one of the last times..........hmmm........this is what heartbreak feels like.......but then holding steve in the kitchen immediately after........m you really built the parallels there......

i am so fascinated by the fact that bug is caught up in the survivor's guilt trip of the century about will while at the same time nancy is drinking her own fun cocktail of guilt for cheating and the burden of knowing she possibly came between bug and johnathan in a strange way, and feels that resentment against bug for seemingly not having to carry that burden?? like obvs bug has her faults but it's so interesting watching bug overemphasize her guilt and role in will's predicament in an honestly unpredictable situation while nancy feels anger and resentment at bug for being not-as-at-fault in their relationship troubles of the lover's quadrilateral (good indie band name btw)......like......bug and nancy you two are more alike than either of you would like to admit!!! especially with what bug revealed last episode about striving to be kind because she felt like she was cruel after their dad left and thus is always trying to make up for it because she's so scared to be like their dad, while nancy saw the loveless marriage of their parents and turned it into a streak of emotional caution and restraint and independence, is all just so.....like the iverts of each other??? so it just makes sense why steve and johnathan would be caught up in both of them so much....bug feels jealousy over johnathan choosing nancy and admiring that emotional independence while nancy in turn resenting the guilt she feels for not being a "good" gf to steve and craving the emotional vulnerability that makes people gravitate towards bug as she struggles with her own complications, complexities and the fact that she isn't as outwardly....idk i guess perfect-seeming when she compares herself to bug.....which is funny given that that's how bug felt about nancy when comparing nancy's badassery and intelligence in s1........like.......girls........i hate to tell ya, you guys are very good mirrors of each other! and are really reflecting a lot of the same fears back at each other and projecting the same light over and over again!! honest to god i see another universe where nancy and bug are together, the same way there's a universe where steve and nancy/bug and johnathan are together...........like.........they've got that lesbian parallels and have that toxic feelings-that-in-hs-you-could-only-describe-as-jealousy-that-tears-you-both-apart-later-you-realise-was-desire that breaks your heart in high school and you don't understand why until years later you wake up and go "oh! that was my first love! that's why i felt that glow emanating from their very being and felt they were perfect and above all reproach and better than me and had what i can only describe as a gaping hole in my chest anytime they were in a romantic or sexual relationship with anyone who wasn't me!"

also, i just wanted to add about the ending tent scene where bug is trying to bring will back......i will admit that with recent stuff, i don't really care for will all that much, but genuinely, seeing the deep connections between bug and the rest of the byers family.....will being her little bee.....so cute they really are her family!!! in another life she would have been joyce's daughter in law!!! obvs family is so much more than like certificates and paper documents but idk you can just tell how much they are meant to be in each other's lives. and omg el is back!! yay!!!

I'm so sorry. This is so funny. I agree with the post itself but it's hilarious that she can't see she's doing literally the EXACT same thing about bisexuals. When lesbians call us dick worshipers, compare bi women to TIMs, or talk shit about our rape statistics to make us sound like liars and harpies, her response is the exact thing she's criticizing! The easiest explanation I can see is that these people DO think that biphobia of any severity SHOULD be dismissed for more important things (literally anything is more important), and they DO think in some way that bi rape victims deserve to be demeaned and degraded as punishment for other bi people being homophobic (or at least they have no right to complain if they are).

If it's not that... then, what? I guess maybe they're just so secure in their assumption that bisexuals are always in the wrong and whining about nothing that they become incapable of seeing how spreading rape apologia with only passing criticisms about general misogyny (and absolutely not addressing the homophobia of it; more on this later) and then immediately dismissing it to focus on "the real problem" is actually kind of insane? Like just a complete lack of empathy there? I guess this just loops around to being the first thing to me.

But yeah, it just seems IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone to just stand up to say "no you're just being homophobic and/or misogynistic" and accept that as enough of an answer when someone starts belittling the homophobic abuse of bi people. There's always a million conditionals that get spit out - "oh they're angry because they've been hurt by homophobic bisexuals" - "oh these people are wrong but they need compassion uwu" - "oh well bisexuals are sooo privileged this doesn't affect them who cares". would you happen to know if nate stevenson ever confirmed glimmer & bow to be bi specifically (like she did with catra & adora being lesbians), or just not straight? don’t get me wrong, i know they’re bi4bi and i’m not dismissing that, but i’m just curious because i feel like if it wasn’t explicitly stated and they weren’t in a wlm/mlw relationship, everyone would be headcanoning glimmer as a lesbian and some would probably want bow to just be a butch lesbian too 😭😭😭 i’m not even saying it happens in this fandom cause idk tbh but i’ve seen it happen so many other times with bi sapphic characters (i.e. poision ivy ofc)

also like… this is probably gonna make #somepeople without proper reading comprehension mad just by misinterpretation of what i’m actually trying to say here but i often presume writers mean “lesbian” as in “sapphic” since the latter isn’t as well known — like, they use it as an umbrella term regardless of whether that’s (historically) correct or not. my prime example would be caitlyn and vi from arcane; i’m absolutely okay with them being lesbians and i’m not erasing that fact at all but i think it’s worth keeping in mind that they weren’t confirmed by riot to be exclusively homosexual/wlw/“nmlnm”/etc. even though they may or may not very well be (i personally agree that they are). it’s another case of the google dictionary being unreliable because it relies on uneducated cishet ideas of queerness + terms so it simply defines “lesbian” as “wlw” (not even inclusive of nonbinary people) and “sapphic” as “relating to lesbians” or something like that.

anyway! sorry for making this too long, i had some thoughts but ended up ranting lol

Nate said “definitely not straight” specifically! I know that’s not the same as saying word for word “they’re bisexual”, but within the context, of both the show, and how neither of them are gay/lesbian, neither of them are aroace, saying “not straight” confirms them to be bisexual!

IMO, since bisexuality is more common and is the blanket statement under pan, omni, poly, etc. when a character is shown to be attracted to 2+ genders, they’re canon bi- now it’s up to the writers or the context of the show to specifically state whether the character is pan or anything else under the bi umbrella :) and it’s the same way in real life! If you want to discuss being attracted to 2+ genders, you will sound bisexual, unless you specify you’re pan etc underneath the bi umbrella
