#here's how to fix canon naruto's ending

Read the first 7 chapters of KYH, and the amount of times Kakashi called Sakura "unique" and whatnot is outstanding. Slow burn BAMF! Sakura is a lie, the author gives her a few "difficult" moments and a scar not to make her disproportionally OP in the first chapter, but she's not better than the Naruto OP fics many complain about.

Also, Kakashi's praises (which she says are very few in comparison to the praise she received in the Academy, having dwelled to an outstanding number of at least one praise for each chapter), will likely be replaced by Itachi's praises, as that's the endgame couple (I've also read the latest update, and you wouldn't believe what Itachi does...).

Also also, There's no plot, just a story following Sakura's greatness.

Also also also, author says Kishimoto's rules don't make sense, because well... fuck the author for giving his own logic to his own fucking story that happens not to abide by the logic KYH's author has.

Also⁴, like, for real, stop writing down fights exactly as they happened in canon (same beginning, same ending), just to add a few tweaks here and there to give Sakura some semblance of relevance, it's cheap, and jeez, if I wanted to read ten paragraphs pitifully describing a story I could easily see drawn, I would read the fucking manga.

Ah, I forgot to add, the very first chapter starts with how badly poor people smell and how Sakura endures such a thing regardless. Way to go queen.

I've been told the story develops in a way that has Sasuke under Sakura's command, who becomes Uchiha's clan Head when marrying Itachi. She also fixes Itachi's blindness and gives Kakashi EMS through the power of her amazing medical jutsu (fuck Kishi's logic but not the author's!).

It's often mentioned how hard Sakura has it for not being "noble" or whatever, yet she's often praised as being a "rare" type of ninja (genjutsu type, I kid you not), so the "working hard dogma" that the author pushes forward against the "being predisposed to greatness" gets nullified right off the bat... like, pick one?

9. worst part of canon: we all know about this... taka(+orochimaru)s characterization thrown away in the war for jokes or to act as plot devices... i fear i may never forgive kishimoto. the atmosphere wasnt so tense that we needed karin to be crazy about sasuke again + that overt about wanting sasuke to bite her (?!). why is suigetsu acting like he wasnt captured and experimented on by orochimaru but worked for him like karin. why is juugo acting like sasuke is kimimaro when he clearly made the difference before. orochimarus weirdass change of heart because we needed the hokages to show up. or even suigetsu randomly stumbling upon a convenient scroll detailing how to undo shiki fuujin and his first thought (before he meets sasuke again) is to pocket it because it would be useful for sasuke?? like why was it in suigetsus hideout of all places. why does suigetsu even know what it means. im sorry i just dont think orochimaru discussed the matter of his arms & the first 4 hokages souls over the vivisection table and i dont believe sasuke ever brought it up during hebitaka because WHY WOULD HEEE. etc etc etc like am i making sense? they really are just there to move the plot along and play out a joke once in a while. nothing about what happened when taka separated matters at all in the war theyre barely even characters

10. worst part of fanon: 100% the tendency to make everyone friends i think its so boring!!! like in what world are taka invited to karuis wedding? in what world is karin a guest star on the real housewives of konoha (=joining them for brunch). what exactly do temari and karin have in common other than both having the Kishimoto Woman Personality Type #1.

its so much more fun to have characters who just cant stand each other. naruto dislikes taka for literally no reason and its hilarious we should keep it that way. no way im ever believing karui genuinely befriends sakura i think they should HATE having to see each other all the time because their girls are besties. it will always feel more natural &balanced to me + im more inclined to believe 2 characters whove never talked to each other could be great friends if youve also considered who they DONT mesh with at all.

I like how Sakura slowly gets sucked in deeper in Orochimaru's machinations and loses any moral qualms she would otherwise have about the research they are doing, going so far as to compromise her own health for it. Just the sort of Mad Scientist story I like.

A civilian enters one of Orochimaru's abandoned bases and inspects what has been left behind. I love stories that show the horror we are often familiar with in a story from the perspective from an outsider, especially if it involves the discovery of medical malpractice. There's a creeping sort of terror as we discover with this person what happened and piece together what horrible acts have been committed here. It actually really influenced my writing and was what I always aspired to write as well.

AU where Kars lands on Earth again after being shot into space, but it's present day and Esidisi has been incarnated as a regular human, which gives Kars quite the culture shock. Very sweet, a bit angsty, but all ends well.

I don't know how I ended up drawing so many edgy or goofy Obito pics because initially I was attracted back into the fandom by everything white-haired Obito encompasses (a repentant criminal who reclaims his true self: regret, the power of personal CHOICES, ruthlessness directed at yourself, fiery determination and sternness, single-minded & dogged self-sacrificial tendencies, a kind of enlightened clarity, violent self-restoration, crawling out of hell, accepting reality and taking accountability for everything you possibly can, courageously FACING things, crushing the yoke of darkness, seeing some meaning again, never giving up on it again, never letting yourself lose the light in the heart again no matter what it takes--and in exaltation all of it is still a bit psychopathic and wild, but it's like a poison that cures, cures death itself - the death inside you, the sopor of your spirit). I can't call them headcanons, they are actually canon (and do I love canon!), but they are the dearest things to me, and some of them are reflected/explored in my doujins (long comics); somehow I consider only my doujins my "serious works" loaded with deep ideas/imagery. The rest is for pure entertainment and fandom fun. But I still express the listed things in the frequent >:-[ face expressions I draw on him xD thousand-yard stares, knitted eyebrows... *** As for some additional Obito headcanons that I have, there are few since canon has given me everything I've ever needed.

I like the idea of Joubito wearing red sometimes :3 I like the idea of Obito sealing some of his chakra into Kakashi when the latter was fighting Kaguya (like Minato sealed his and Kushina's into Naruto), and then, when Kakashi is Hokage, it activates in some situation and they meet again in Kakashi's headspace. They have a lot to talk about. No art about that. [nsfw] Sometimes I also kinda like to entertain the idea of canon Obito's Zetsu flesh not only ridding him of all human bodily processes like the need to drink, sleep or eat, but also of his libido (nothing human about him anymore), and it's fun to think about how in a post-canon AU, after the destruction of the Gedo Mazou, Zetsus and all other possible 'evil' things he can't have extra chakra anymore, and his normal human physicality gradually returns. And suddenly! He experiences something he last experienced when he was 13, and it's strange, embarrassing, long-forgotten. E.g. he has a stupid wet dream, and it's not an experience he welcomes now, but his body is so... alive now. As is his heart. He can't ignore his body as easily anymore. No art. I like the idea of the Sage teaching Obito in the next world more things about the chakra and then secretly sending him back to the world of the living to work on his karma a bit and do a few important things here and there (e.g. fix something in Ame), and no one knows, but he has to reveal himself to Hokage Kakashi at one point. I love the idea of them working together on something. No art. Just a doodle xD

So I recently I got back into my teen obsession: Naruto. I took the chance to read the manga again with new eyes, and started doodling many fix it ideas until one day Naruto came out with fox ears and all this AU came to life.

Right now (as I post the end of the chunin exams) I have all the way to the Pein Arc planned. I also know how I want to end the AU already. Drawing it all is what will take time. (June edit: I've finished planning it and I'm about to start post shippuden soon!)

If you've read what I have out, by now you realize I change a lot of things and as the story goes forward there'll be more and more changes. A big one is: There won't be the war arc in NaruFox. If you want to know how I'll include something from this part in the AU, I probably won't.

I plan to have NO ships in the NaruFox. Not even my personal favorites. Yes, because I’m too old for ship wars, but mostly because that’s just not my focus for the AU. I am totally fine with you tagging the posts you find cute as the ships you like and see, but officially there won't be any romance.

Naruto ships that felt canon to me: SasuNaru, InoSaku, KakaGai, ShikaTema.

ohh fun question! i have a bunch of WIPs lying around ngl, though since I've become busy with work, a lot of them I've put on the "back burner" save for like... two. Anyways!

Since ik you follow me mostly for my KKSS fic, we can focus on that!!

When it comes to writing, although I do make "skeletons" of my fics, so a very summarized bullet point list of what I want to happen, I actually plan out chapters as they happen? The minutiae is all very up in the air as far as planning goes, all I know, really, is the ending and the major shakeup's I wanna incorporate.

In the case of To Oblivion, my current (and very definitely LONGEST) WIP in the docket, I kinda have a very specific but ultimately small... anxiousness... towards a scene i've planned for the next chapter, and a much, much broader, definitely more potent dread towards the fic as a whole.

In terms of specifics? I have this scene planned where I'm going to introduce two "new" characters, one of whom will be important to the plot, from a perspective of a canon character I don't actually know (as is, and how to write) that well. I'm not sure that I can pull it off exactly correctly, and my refusal (and really, lack of time) to go cavern crawling through canon to figure things out isn't doing me any favors. Considering I could very much say the same for Sai, and that worked out okay-ish last time? Well, it's an AU anyways so!! I'll figure it out!!!

As for the broader dread... I cannot overstate this: to oblivion is NOT kind. HF is like the best most squeaky clean fixer upper version of this "AU" that i coulda come up with and to oblivion is far and away from that.

I'm gonna be blunt, I have a very certain view of the world and my views reflect very much in the way I write whether I intend it to or not,,,, so I'm kinda leaning into that for this fic, really allowing my thought process to shine through. I'm not interested on making the characters sympathetic so much as believable in how they act and react to the story as it unfolds.

Part of this dread, I'll admit, is simply because I'm not really good at plots? Actually I'm awful at them lmaooo, I don't do the /overarching and makes sense/ sorta narratives, I've just never found the inspiration to go at those so long when all I really wanna do is throw characters at each other so they can cry dramatically about their lives or whatever.

The other part is just that Naruto is a very old IP with a very old fandom and it's because of this that many of us here have a very fixed view of how characters are like, whether that's canon or simply our interpretation of them. I don't think I'm gonna be making a lot of people happy with how I plan to let the story play out - in fact, I restricted the comments from chapter one FOR A REASON! I just... I do not see a world where we finally get to the crux of why I even wrote this fic, and everybody reading will just be fine and dandy with how I make things play out.

If you think that one Shisui-POV fic /Like Stars/ is challenging and frustrating,,,, to oblivion will set your eyes on fire :\

I say this not to scare of readership but I really don't want ppl coming into the fic thinking I'm deadset on a warm, hopeful ending like I was with HF. While we're not heading towards an unhappy or even Bad ending, I just feel like it's important to set the expectation that I wrote this fic not just to challenge myself and the characters but also those who decide to read it to see my perspective of where canon went wrong with the framework of the Uchiha massacre and Konoha's handling of it. It's gonna be very hard on not just Sasuke and Shisui but Kakashi as Hokage, Naruto, Sakura, Shikamaru, Sai and basically everyone who'll end up showing their faces in the fic.

It’s funny since I’m actually an SNS shipper, but “Something Left to Save” is legitimately one of my fave Naruto fics. The way you write Sakura is how I wish she was written in canon. I was cognizant of how much hate there is for Sakura's character and tried to be self-aware of how my own internalized misogyny showed up in understanding and respecting her, but I don't think I was arrogant enough to think I could successfully write her in a way that could address any of that... Like I didn't really make a plan, just let it unfold on its own as I wrote and hoped for the best, so it doesn't feel like I wrote the character you're talking about, but that she ended up that way 'cause I gave her enough room and space in the narrative to exist. If that makes sense lol? And so, it makes me so stupid happy to hear this and any of the positive feedback I've gotten about her, 'cause it feels like it's more a testament to what happens when female characters get the space they deserve than about my own writing. Which is so important to me. I know I wanted needed something of a canon fix-it for Sakura, so I'm really grateful to hear I could be contributing to that for someone else too.

🍐 Is there anything in canon that you absolutely hate and love to fix in fics? A wrong choice made, a fuck-up in characterization, a misunderstanding never cleared up, a conversation never shown onscreen, etc…

I don't like complaining about the cannon *because* I can fix it in fanfiction, but here we go...

I never really liked how Naruto and Hinata got together. It felt like they kind of fell together or like Hinata was 'reward' at the end of his journey to complete his life and have his family, but the show isn't focused on romance, so I can forgive them for not putting that much emphasis on it and I am SURE there are plenty of wonderful NaruHina writers that fix that relationship, but I just like to consistently pair Hinata with someone else because I think the childhood crush from afar and waiting for the day is a little boring.

I try not to make Naruto the antagonist of those relationships often, but sometimes an antagonist isn't a bad guy. It's just circumstance.

I also never liked how Hyuga's control over Hinata and their meddling in the village was kinda dropped at some point (and Hiashi was turned into a loving granddad????). I like to use them as an overarching villain consistently.

Hinata's character, in general, had a lot of potential that I feel needed to be explored that just wasn't, especially if she was going to end up with the main character of the show. I think my *entire* roster of stories is me fixing that because that is why I enjoy writing her so much.

Sasuke, in general. I have said this before, but I would have rather him do something like die saving Naruto in the end if he really felt like he was not worth redemption rather than becoming a deadbeat dad. I know his whole quest in life was based on a lie, and that should have affected him, but I just wanted him to grow from it, not wallow. And I love fixing that. Either having him find some sort of acceptance on his own or having someone work it out with him.

Here is the thing with the Aizawa vs Kakashi comparison:

Kakashi is also a rather bad teacher and often portrayed/dragged/fixed as such in the Naruto fandom.

Yes, the circumstances around his expulsion scare are a lot less severe (Ninja work is way more deadly, they get back to the academy, he directly points out how many ninja die and that that's the reason for this rule, etc...), but that is only one aspect of Kakashi.

For example: As the protags sensei, he is supposed to take care of them & train them.

Take care? Well, Naruto and Sasuke are both heavily traumatized ostracized 12 year old Children that live completely alone at the beginning of canon. It's implied that they get some sort of allowance from the village but that's it. Nothing about this changes when Kakashi becomes their sensei. Yes, he protects them during dangerous missions, but that's very similar to how Aizawa protects the students at the USJ. Good ninja, bad teacher.

Case in Point: The first time we see Kakashi actively, intentionally train his students is several months(!) in, while they are on their first mission outside the village. This WAS supposed to be a simple mission with little to no risks, but of course this goes the way of the USJ and they end up faced with an opponent that could literally chop apart the kids in less than a second. After he is defeated, they learn that he probably survived and Kakashi FINALLY trains them in:

drum roll please...

Walking up trees by using Chakra, aka the most basic form of traversal that literally EVERY ninja can do.

Here is the thing, just like with Aizawa, all of this makes perfect sense from a writers perspective: Changing the order of arcs or interjecting training or exposition about what ninja kids can and can't do would kill the pacing really quick, especially this early in the series. This way readers slowly learn about the universe and it's rules alongside the protagonists but also get drama and action.

But from an in universe perspective it creates the weird appearance that Kakashi is lazy/doesn't care about his team, after all, despite trying to fail them to save their lives, he only does the absolute bare minimum to teach them how to actually stay alive.

It does not help either, that the only other two times he teaches his kids anything, he specifically singles out one of the two boys each. Also, one of those two cases, once again, mostly focuses on teaching something that sounds like basic shit that they should have learned in school, or immediately after. (Though this was apparently retconned into the series at that point.)

And that's without even starting to go into the personal connections he (supposedly) has to two of the three protags, but barely ever acts upon.

It is definitely an interesting comparison, and I can totally see that Aizawa is inspired by Kakashi, but I do think we should keep in mind that they both have their own sets of issues that can't be easily compared due to the differing circumstances.

I've seen some discussions of Kakashi failing as a teacher thanks to the time I spend on TV Tropes, but I have very little context for it. Gotta admit, feel like teaching people the movement ability before the mission would make the mission itself go smoother, but I will grant it was supposed to be a safe mission but still

well, to start, you can always age everyone up as well! i don't think we ever got a confirmation as to how old the founders were in canon when Konoha was formed, so it's safe to say that being a few years older than them (or even being roughly the same age) is fine.

there's a pretty considerable age gap between me and some others in my naruto DR. now, first of all; i know this is going to cause some controversy considering how iffy people get about scripting specific ages—but i just want to make it clear that i shifted for the plot, not to simply get together with people or so and so. and i wanted to experience it as it was, with scripting only for my end (my DR self) and for main events in the story. i barely scripted any specifics regarding the canon characters themselves.

so, to get on with it, here's a layout of our ages:

[P.S. the formation of Konoha is three (3) years away from where i am currently. the section, Age [Konoha, Year 1], is for how old everyone'll be once the village is made.]

the name in red (Kyō) is me. the ones crossed out are the deceased. boxes marked with an X means: (1) i don't know the date/birthday, and (2) the age/s are an estimate based on their appearance. names with commas (or double names in single cells) are twins.

lastly, the canon characters are highlighted in yellow. the eldest out of all of them is Tajima, and the youngest is Itama.

everyone else is non-canon and specifically: the ones that I've been acquainted with, the ones whose names I've heard of in passing, and the ones i bothered to know. there's an incredible amount of people in both clans, and this isn't even a portion of the Uchiha and Senju. to add to that, i haven't even included the Kaguya yet HAHAHA

“Serenity Prayer” by katarinahime - Rated M for depictions of domestic violence, substance abuse, and smut, Modern AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. When their fairytale endings smash to ugly pieces, Hinata and Naruto help put each other back together.

Let’s start from the top with this work of art.

She dove on the ground for her phone, pushing it further under her seat so it would take longer to grab. It was a silly move. She couldn't stay down there forever. - Chapter 1, when Hinata sees Naruto walking toward her at the airport.

☝🏼 katarina has an amazing way with throwing in bits of self-deprecating humor into primarily ANGST stories that lightens the load just enough.

"I still have that scarf." He admits, smiling at her like he can't see her wanting to shrivel up and die.

I felt this.  The embarrassment, the simply relatable wording of wanting to shrivel up and die, like it came straight from any mortified consciousness.  And again, another sprinkle of humor here.  AND on top of that, the canon reference in a Modern aged-up AU!

A cracked iPhone 5c that her little sister let her use, matching the outdated MacBook that was thicker than a college text book. At the moment, they are her most prized possessions.

The first chapter is one of the BEST establishing introductions I’ve ever read, and yet there isn’t a single true flashback.  Hinata’s medication, abusive marriage, regrets, shames, they litter her thought process throughout that in no way interferes with the “now” narrative of meeting Naruto in an airport and waiting for a flight on standby.  We get a clear picture of everything she’s been through since high school, as well as worrisome insight into her mental health.

And all through Hinata’s pov, we get a shocking and intriguing glimpse into Naruto’s life.  Quite a few major players in the story are mentioned in the first chapter without any of them having a “spoken” line.  Various complex plot points are laid out that hold across the story - her financial instability, Ino’s business proposal, the unresolved divorce, her unanswered confession,... It’s crazy how well-thought out it is.

katarina develops the romance, character growth, friendships, family relationships, everything beautifully.  All sensitive topics are treated with care, rather than written to entertain a trope.  The fic goes beyond “what if?”, diving into difficult topics like domestic abuse, PTSD, substance abuse, anxiety, etc. without any romanticism.

She bites her lip and nods, leaving that evening without agreeing to anything. - Chapter 2, at the end of Naruto’s and Hinata’s “business meeting” at Ichiraku.

I’ll never get over the skill of this story.  Down to its structure, the layout is masterful.  It has the smoothest scene transitions I’ve ever read.  Ever.  In any fanfic or published book.  In one sentence, Hinata has left Naruto’s date invitation hanging and is working at Ino’s house the next morning.  In Chapter 5, within a few lines, Hinata is at a bar one night and then at Hanabi’s dress fitting the next day.  There are practically no scene breaks in the entire story except for, of course, at the end of a chapter.

"Oh, you forgot your name at the top." Hinata spotted.

"Oops." Shinachiku reached back for his pencil to fix his oversight. - Chapter 7, the first time Hinata babysits Shinachiku.

The CHILDREN.  Feel like real, actual children.  I’ve read so many fics where the children don’t act like children, or are not behaving at a maturity level appropriate to their age.  Shinachiku’s intelligence is off-the-charts, as expected of the son of Sakura, and his personality is spot-on for an only child.  His social awkwardness at a playground, his comfort level around adults, his attachment to routines, his inability at times to interpret admonishments correctly, there are a plethora of details put into this kid.

The details are vivid in every character, from Kurenai and her plant-based diet to Shikamaru and his AA coin, from Moegi with her opinions on pearl succulents to Mirai’s preteen snarky attitude.  There’s a huge cast and each one feels in-character like in canon.

I opened the door to “Serenity Prayer.”  I loved her so much I never left, I traced the veins of her words and ordered my own in her image.

You know I'm thinking about how in a series, after the main series is done the sequel series (not a spinoff set in an alternate universe but main timeline) have a tendency to degrade og main characters make them worse off in comparsion to the hip young new cast.

This can be bad writing but more of an a layered issue that the writers have to deal with when beholden to an ongoing canon. What the writers are trying to do is use those older characters as jumping points for conflict or other interesting hooks to keep in them in the new story in some form.

One of the bigget issues is that because the audience has most likely followed these character for a long time. Its more than a bit jarring when they come back with new character traits or new actions that contradict who those characters are or just don't make sense with established canon. Its hard to attach to new characters when it feels like the old characters are getting the dirt powder treatment.

There is one way to fix this issue is play off character traits that make sense for that character to still have after their series is over. By the end of a story a character can over come their major flaws but still have other flaws that can be used later. Hell using their positive traits can bea lanching point for conflicts that can evolve. But it needs to fit with the character. Even some relapses into the old flaws are fine but they have to make sense.

I hate beating a dead horse here. But I'm gonna use Naruto and Boruto as an example of this issue and something that could have fixed it. I want to preface to say I'm fine with Boruto just a part of the excution really needed to be reworked much like the og series. Okay the writer needed a reason for why Naruto's son has tension with his father. They decide to go with Naruto is a neglectful workaholic father who never has time to spend with his family so Boruto resents him for that. Does his best to get his father attention using pranks and what not.

And still to this day, this was the sillest way to go about father son conflict. Like no, given Naruto's personality by the end of his series the neglectful dad trope does not fit him in the least, people have tried to use well its cause of he is the hokage and cares about the village. Its too jarring of a shift in his character for that. Instead what they could of gone with, Naruto was a overly protective and clingy dad. Always wanting to put himself in this son bussiness while Boruto is at an age where that sort of hovering is not appreciated.

This could have played into Naruto's very real flaw of his unhealthy attachments from the first series that are never address properly. And uses a spring board for conflict between him and his son. This in turn could show case Boruto strengths in comparsion.

Again I didn't want dig into this since its been years but every so often I'm reminded of hey if you wanted to do this there were better ways to excute that intention.

3 Ships I have so many ships that I can mention, so I'll just do one each for three arbitrary categories.

1) Ship I'm reading: IceMav from the Top Gun movies. I mentioned this before, but I needed both movies to fall in love with this pairing so hard. Like if I watched the movies individually I would be interested but not this much - but throw in the fact that they canonically have 30+ years of history and TGM made it very clear that their bond has gotten even stronger over the years *chef's kiss*. Rivals to wingmen! Ice as Mav's guardian angel! Mav was the only one Ice trusted to teach the kids so they could all come back home alive! Mav pounding his wings onto Ice's coffin!!! The angst from Ice's canonical death adds a sort of realistic bittersweetness that makes the ship somehow more appealing to me. But also, because real life is depressing enough as it is, I'm happily rolling in OG!TG wingmen era fics and found family MavDad/IcePops and Dagger kids AUs forever.

2) Ship I've written: Halfdain from Genshin Impact. I like a lot of Genshin characters and relationships (both romantic and familial), but Halfdain was the one that broke my two-year pandemic lockdown writer's block. Halfdan literally appears onscreen for like three minutes, but his loyalty to Dainsleif! He followed Dainsleif's final command for 500 years! He remembered and recognized Dain even when his memories should have completely eroded away! He believed in Dain so much. And Dain! How he recognized Halfdan even in his shadowy husk state! The way his eyes flickered and he smiled the gentlest smile for Halfdan! The hand clasp in the flashback, and the Black Serpent salute! Halfdan's fate is also what inspired me so much - I was so distraught at the fact that Halfdan dies and they couldn't be together despite everything they've been through, I broke my own writer's block to fix things. Tragic endings what? I WILL FIX THEM WITH FIC. This is probably the rarest pairing I ship (<50 works on AO3), but I love them so much.

3) Free choice: 00Q from the Daniel Craig James Bond films. So, I've kind of stopped writing for them. However, I see a pattern with my current ships and like.. I haven't actually watched No Time To Die, but I know what happens to Bond. And going by my track record, I'll either write my own fix-it fic or I'll look for all the fix-it fics. And that's why I still haven't watched NTTD: 1) i'm not quite ready for things to end, and 2) I don't want to risk switching hyperfixations, so I'm procrastinating on it. But 00Q will always have a special place in my heart, both for how long I was actively in the fandom for, and for how much I grew as a writer writing for them.

First Ship I'm probably aging myself right here, but considering the timing of when I got into fandom it's either Yuki Sohma/Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket or KakaIru from Naruto.

Last movie Enola Holmes 2. I enjoyed it!

Last song Hoyoverse just dropped The Stellar Moments Vol 3 album and I've been listening to it while writing this. My favourites are Chapter of a New Era (Yunjin's theme), Storm Chaser (Heizou's theme), Evening Luxury (Diluc and Fischl's outfit teaser) and Surasthana Fantasia (Nahida's theme).

Currently reading Uhhhh.. I have far too many fic tabs opened, but two IceMav fics that I'm actively following are As Lions by @qin-ling (Time travel fic! The angst of Mav's now unreturnable original timeline and his Ice's death, but also hope in the form of getting to save Goose and befriending '86 Ice again!) and ICE - In Case of Emergencies by @derpinathebrave (post-breakup IceMav where Ice gets called as Mav's emergency contact after an accident. The title is already excellent but also the writing is impeccable).

Also I have a ton of Sandman fics opened before my brain took a sharp dive into TG fandom, so here's a fic I was halfway through: We have all the time in the world (a great exploration of Dreamling throughout their once-a-century-meet ups, where Dream is slightly more in-tuned to his feelings for Hob).

Currently watching I just finished watching Season 3 of Mob Psycho 100. I (surprisingly) did not cry at the ending but the moment 99 (the season 1 OP) played in the final episode? Oo, good chills, it was so excellently done.

Currently consuming All the Chinese New Year snacks. Actually, I can't eat most snacks yet because we're saving them for 初一 . But you know what you can't save for too long? Mandarin oranges. So many mandarin oranges. This is the best season for mandarin orange lovers :D

The OC is the child of one of Saradas kids (So Sasuke-> Sarada-> her kid -> oc) and now with ur clarification I can ignore my impulse to make her one of Orochimarus kids kids and add that extra generation in there that I wanted.

She's eccentric and loud and doesn't have much of a filter so she's 1) not great Shinobi material so she never received any (OFFICIAL) training and 2) doesn't have a lot of friends so she does cling to her mentor figures a lot. Unfortunately for those around her her mentor figure is Orochimaru and she's very happy to be a test subject as long as she also gets unbarred access to all the information coming out of that. He's mostly stopped the vivisection and human experimentation by now and is winding down wrt "wah wah I wanna be immortal to learn everything" because he's coming to realize there is no way he COULD know everything because of the inherent ability of humans to be creative and inventive.

Orochimaru lives pretty much the same way he did circa Naruto Era so she does as well not really important just a note.

SO.

one day she gets sick of something coming up from the "outside world" and just bemoans that she can't go back in time and fix some shit so that the world here was different. Orochimaru chastises her because if she went back in time she would never be able to see how she had affected the future because she has no desires for immortality and he's nearing the end of his tolerance for it.

So she's thinking thay night as she's sorting through stuff to do the next day and she goes. Well I am a seal master in training... I do have all this knowledge and abilities... I could ask for a research access pass to the Nidaime and Yondaime time space seals... hmmm

Long story short she goes back in time after convincing Orochimaru no no this is TOTALLY a good idea imagine the studies we could write.

She overshoots by a couple dozen years.

The Warring States period. Which neither of them have any knowledge of actually living in. This w9uld be fine they could adapt and figure it out. IF. SHE HAD ANY IMPULSE CONTROL WHAT-SO-EVER. AND OROCHIMARU WASNT NOW INTERESTED IN WATCHING HER TRAIN WRECK THE TIMELINE.

She seals away Zetsu. Fucks around and finds out. Ykno. The usual. She's having a grand old time. Minor issue.

To seal away Zetsu she had to pretty much get into the Uchiha compound bcus that's where he was lurking when she go a feel on him.

Major issue.

She and Orochimaru got caught.

Even more major issue. Instead if letting Orochimaru fight or talk their way out of it she blurts out "WE'RE FROM THE FUTURE I HAVE PROOF."

Chaos ensues. She whispers secrets on he knows to Madara and secrets only he knows to Izuna. They are forced to beleive that she is either an exceptional spy willing to work for them or that she's telling the truth.

Orochimaru is pretty much just like. watching that all unfold. waiting for the split second time frame he'll have to yank them out of there should things go south.

However apparently Izuna is far too fascinated by this and insists on not harming them and picking their brains for info. Orochimaru has to cope with this. He's stuck there. He has invested way too much time and effort and (eugh) affection into helping raise and inevitably taking in (vague mumbles a name).

IT’S ANOTHER TIME TRAVEL FIX IT, this time starring Itachi, the saga of a genius working with half the canon information and a boat load of trauma is so deliciously interesting. Things don’t always turn out for the better but in other ways they’re much improved. I really dig this fic.

I normally can’t abide self inserts but this one is well written.

Follow the story of reincarnated doctor, Tsunade, as she grows up in Konohagakure when it still disdained medic nin as not fit for combat, and the connections she forges with the people of that time. Also watch her try to dismantle the human bomb that is her friend Orochimaru and his possible evil future.

Solid worldbuilding nice development, ongoing but one to keep an eye on.

Also, great title, Imma be real like I said I don’t usually like self insert so 99% of the reason for giving it a chance was the title.

Minato Namikaze wakes up six years after the devastating Kyuubi attack, alone in an overgrown clearing with not a scratch on him. Disoriented and confused, he does exactly what any father would do in this situation. He fights through the pain, gets up, and goes to find his son. He trudges through the pounding in his head and forces himself to move-- to go and find him, because that masked man was still out there, and Minato is willing to do anything to protect his little ball of sunshine. Needless to say, the blonde kage wasn't expecting so much time to have passed. Nor is he very impressed with the way the village has been treating his son all these years.

This fic contains so much sweetness and light. Also vindication, sweet, sweet vindication. I went looking for a Minato lives au and boy did I get to receive.

She would do what she could to lessen the shock of their son’s alliance with Harry Potter when the time came to inform Lucius. In the meanwhile, Narcissa held back on the temptation to smack him over the head with a newspaper.

Harry continues to be cringe-dense but simultaneously badass mage in the making, great plot, fun seeing the triwiz go down in the midst of all the changes already made to the timeline and how Harry’s reactions and the reactions of others differ. Holding out for more Sirius content someday but honestly his bond with the weasley twins is really satisfying me right now. Ongoing and extremely carefully crafted fic, a privilege to read something someone’s put so much effort into creating. Every time it updates I’m like, damn, again? What a legend.
