Five years….five long years since you’ve seen your favorite red headed Jedi.

You missed Cal, missed his jokes, his smile. The poncho you managed to swipe before you two went your separate ways was started to lose his scent though you couldn’t help but cringed at that thought.

“God I feel like a creep.”

Shaking your head you tugged at the poncho, your head snapping to Mirrian. You weren’t quite sure you should trust the woman’s smile. “Is something wrong?”

Shrugging her shoulders she then turned her back to you. “Cere wants to see you.”

Dropping your shoulders, you bit back a groan. “I was hoping to take a nap.”

“Trust me, you’ll want to be awake for this.”

Shaking your head you tried to wonder what the hell that meant then again you could never tell with Mirrian.

Rolling your shoulders you glanced around the room spotting Cere talking to some guy you didn’t know but your heart nearly stopped seeing who was talking to Greez.

“Cal?”

Hearing his name, Cal’s eyes went wide for a moment before he started to rush towards you and soon you were being lifted off the ground, his arms wrapped tightly around you in for a crushing embrace. “I can’t believe you’re here.” He whispered in your ear.

He was trembling as he held you, he thought he would never see you again. He did his best to look you up but you just vanished and he was to scared to ask the others.

Cal honestly thought you would hate him, maybe you did hate him. Should he even be hugging you?Wincing he then let you down as he stepped back rubbing his neck. “Sorry…..I uh got excited.”

BD-1’s beeps seeming to agree as the little robot jumped at your feet. Shaking your head you laughed for a moment stepping close. “I see you haven’t changed Cal” titling your head you then placed your hand on his cheek, him leaning into your palm.

“Well not all of you are the same, I like the beard and the hair is a nice touch.” You teased.

Letting out the breath he was holding in Cal returned your smile though it turned to confusion once it finally hit him. You were wearing his poncho, one he thought he lost. “Is that…Is that my poncho?”

Feeling warmth creep up your neck you adverted your eyes. “Maybe…it’s been helping me….I can give it-”

Shaking his head, Cal quickly grabbed hold of your hands. “You don’t…You don’t need to give it back, I want you to keep it…it looks good on you.”

It was cute, seeing the red envelope the man’s cheeks though you did see his eyes darken. You’re all to familiar with that look.

Biting your lip you took a step closer, your chest needy touching his. “Can I show you the Archives?”

“I’d like that.”

Grabbing Cal’s hand, you tugged the man towards one of the rooms ignoring Greez shouting at you both.

“Where the hell are they going?! Don’t we-.”

Mirrian hummed Placing her hand on the pilots shoulder, she gave him a smile only glancing to where you two walked off, happy to see her two close friends finally reunited again. “Let them be, they’ll be fine and they’ll be much happier when they return.”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean.”

Cere sighed as het shoulder’s slumped. “I just pray they stay far away from our work.”

“Is anyone gonna clue me in on what you two are talkin-.” Seeing the look on Cere and Mirrian’s face Greez’s eyes went wide before he let out a laugh, BD-1 jumping on Mirrian’s shoulder. “Well as long as it’s ain’t the Mantis then I’m happy.”

Though it was Mirrian’s turn to let out a bark of laughter.

“Why are you laughing, why is she laughing Cere.”

Cere shrugged turning away. “I am not getting in on this, let me know when they’ve returned.”

“I just find it funny that you think they haven’t fucked on the ship.”

Isn't a writer question but was curious; How does wenclair different from other ships you've enjoyed?

Is it solely due to having been a lifelong Wednesday Addams fan, or is it specifically the Netflix's Addams world that you find intriguing?

I ask mainly because I recall you once saying that your wenclair comics--specifically the Next Gen Au I believe--are written and made with a lot of intention in regards to dialog and the discussions had between characters.

Is this due to a greater insight into the characters or simply a mark of growth in writing comprehension?

I like to think I put as much thought in all ships I've been hyperfixated on tbh. Wenclair isn't even the one I've been obsessed with the longest. So far it's actually Trimberly, for which and I was hyperfixated with for like 3 years.

But yeah ok I get ur point lol The intensity this time feels different, I suppose.

I think it's a mix of both being a long time Wednesday Addams fan and how cute of a ship Wenclair is both in concept and the canon execution of their dynamics.

As some of you are aware, I've been a fan of The Addams for a while now. All incarnations of them are great in their own way, but one of the many reasons why the animated 2019 movie is my favorite is because it didn't give Wednesday a bland ass male love interest. I don't think the B/W series did it(because Wed was like six in that) but the 90's movies, musical, and netflix series for some reason found it necessary to give Wednesday male love interests so painfully boring and i hate it. This isn't even about making Wednesday attracted to boys. I personally headcanon her bi, as the ol' stereotype that all grumpy/angsty female characters must be lesbian isn't my cup of tea, and also because I like to think all Addamses just don't give a shit about gender when it comes to romance. I woulda been fine with her getting a boyfriend so long as they're not boring af and goddddd canon incarnations still haven't delivered. Joel was sweet but he was too much of a wimp, not even Gomez is that pathetic. Lucas' thing with Wednesday was just portrayed in such an icky way in the musical that I couldn't finish watching by the time their sexually charged duet came on, and don't even get me started on the boys Netflix gave her. I expected better of Gough and Millar...(unless the blandness was on purpose like it was with Lana Lang--)

Anyways, because of all said canon love interests, I've been desperate for Wednesday to have a love interest that is both not painfully het or boring for once. Crossover shipping with Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice the Musical was fun but was ultimately a very niche fandom. I could only draw and write for an audience of twenty or so people for so long. Parker from the animated movie would've been great, but the cop out with her mom dating Fester just made it too weird for me to be fully on board with the ship.

So when Enid Sinclair was introduced as a character I was absolutely ecstatic. On paper alone she already seemed great. She has a very distinct appearance (even if her "design" was inspired by Harlequin and it shows) that goes so well when she stands next to Wednesday, whether it's in the actual show, fan arts, or even in official merch. Her being Wednesday's complete opposite in so many ways makes her being paired with Wednesday so dang interesting too.

And I don't just mean aesthetic or personality wise. I'm talking about how one of Wednesday's struggle stems from having too much smothering love from her family as someone who gets overwhelmed too easily, and Enid's loneliness and insecurity coming from her own family's lack of love and attention where it matters most. Or how Wednesday's just girl who, deep inside worries about being an actual cruel monster like the very bigots she hates, while Enid is a supposed beast who resents herself for only being a scared little girl. Even the fact that Wednesday is an older sister to a soft-hearted younger brother while Enid is the youngest daughter to a bunch of rough-housing older brothers feels very on purpose.

Everything about Enid feels deliberate. Like she IS supposed to be paired with Wednesday, platonically or romantically. She's the best person to stand beside Wednesday as a character because they have enough differences and similarities to have interesting conflicts but also significant character growths sparked by each other. She's not bland or boring like the canon love interests because even without her attachment to Wednesday, Enid is still such a compelling character. The mere fact that she's as popular as she is despite an eight-episode series being her debut in a franchise that's been iconic to generations is already pretty amazing, and only a character as impressive deserves to smooch somebody as iconic as Wednesday Addams.

And their on screen chemistry is just *chef's kiss*

I'm confused at all the ask talking about certain enemies to lovers ships they've seen. Isn't enemies to lovers about two people who are on different sides of a fight (whether or not it's violent as long as they're antagonistic towards the other) and them ending up falling for each other? Did the definition of it change or what? Why are there people saying it's about ships where the characters don't get along at first and dislike each other but crush on each other secretly? That sounds like a different trope. I'm not sure what the trope's name is but that reminded me of a lot of het romance stories where the guy and the girl hate each other at first but think the other person is hot or something.

Are people hating on enemies to lovers because others are labeling ships that aren't that into the trope and people think it's what the trope is like and not what it was made for in the first place?

Admin's note: Finally, it is the turn of Tsundere boy. Of course, we all know that Subaru and Yui's ship is one of the most famous ships in the fandom. I used to think that maybe one of the reasons is Subaru's shyness and how he shows his tsundere side in front of Yui. But Subaru's feelings are much bigger than these words. This guy is willing to give his heart to the girl he loves more than anyone else and he doesn't care what happens to him even if it means he won't breathe again in this world, he still doesn't care because His heart will beat in the body of Yui, who is more precious to him than anyone else.

The flashback left me with a lot of questions. For example, are the legends of demons real or not? Maybe this is something we can investigate outside of the daylight series, but in my opinion, the fact that Subaru could not find that fruit does not mean that it is not real.

Let's go back to the story. Surely someone must be so important to Subaru that he would put all his hope in a legend. I understand Subaru's dark and sinister side well and I can say that this boy has really improved, especially since he is looking for a small glimmer of light in his black pit of despair to save Yui.

Maybe we can say that this is not something important because all the boys did it. But if we have a brief overview of their behavior in the first seasons, we will realize that this progress is really admirable. Especially about Subaru. who is ready to believe a fairy tale even if it seems ridiculous to him to save Yui.

After the flashback, as usual, a normal routine begins, which is very annoying in Subaru's opinion. Why? Because, as usual, Yui puts the wishes of others before het own, and this is what torments Subaru the most. It's not like Yui can reject others' requests very easily like Subaru, but this is what Subaru expects from her.

For Yui, it doesn't matter what time of day or what day it is. In any case, she accepts others' requests and this can have two reasons. Fear of punishment or kindness and naivety. I myself prefer to say the second case. Of course, I don't deny that Yui is afraid of punishment because she has gone through a great journey with the boys and endured severe torture from them. But if we take a look at Yui's life, we will realize that she has always been like this. Not just about boys but about all people. For example, if someone makes a request to her, she nods her head with kindness and a sweet smile, rather than rejecting the request. And this is what Yui is and makes it stand out from the rest and be special. She does not expect anything from anyone and does work for them without regret.

But apparently Subaru is not happy about this and blames Yui for paying so much attention to the wishes of others. I will put my thoughts at the feet of Subaru's jealousy. Subaru, as someone who has never seen the love of his mother and suffered a lot because of his mother's bipolarity, does not want to lose someone who really loves him from the bottom of her heart. Maybe Subaru is afraid that Yui will turn away from Subaru's love like his mother and stop loving him. It can be said that this is normal from a boy who wants nothing from life but love.

When Subaru decided to punish Yui, Yui's trembling and weakness scared him a lot. This means that even if Subaru is rough with Yui or angry at her, the first and last thing he thinks of is Yui and he never wants to lose her. At that moment, Yui's illness was not very serious, and only a simple tremor in Yui's body made Subaru panic. Because Subaru sees his own life in Yui's life.

Realizing that Yui only listens to others' requests because of her loyalty to Subaru so that they don't drink Yui's blood makes Subaru regret and you can understand this regret in his words. Subaru doesn't express his apology in words and tries to show with his behavior that he is sorry and this is because he is a little shy.

After Subaru notices Yui's absence at school, he decides to skip classes and return home. Well, I never thought of Subaru as a responsible person, so it's quite normal that he worries about Yui more than school, even if he thinks Yui's illness isn't too serious.

But in any case, Subaru is upset with Yui for not telling him about her bad health. When it comes to Yui, Subaru never likes to fall behind his brothers, that's why the fact that he found out about this later than Ayato bothered him a lot. It can be said that Subaru is somehow jealous that he is not as close to Yui as Ayato because only Ayato is in the same class with Yui and he found out about Yui's situation earlier.

Maybe we find it very funny that Subaru is angry with Yui for such a small matter. But don't underestimate the Tsundere boy. When it's Yui, he gets jealous very easily.

In any case, the fact that Yui hid her illness from Subaru upsets Subaru more. You can understand that Subaru wants Yui to feel comfortable with him and not to hide anything from him. Because Yui is the only person that Subaru trusts and Subaru wants Yui to feel the same way about him.

But it was very interesting to me that Subaru called Yui unlucky because she has Cordelia's heart and is chosen as the legendary Eve. Because many people consider Yui lucky to have Cordelia's heart and it is because of Cordelia's heart that she is still alive. Well, with Subaru's words, we realize that this thinking is completely wrong. Cordelia's heart did not save Yui, but her kindness and wonderful personality and her golden heart made her survive until now. Otherwise, the boys would have killed her a long time ago. Apart from that, Yui is not lucky to have Cordelia's heart. On the contrary, she is very unlucky. Because Cordelia's heart has only taken away her freedom and happiness, and also her life. I can say that just like Reiji, Subaru believes that not only himself, but this world needs a person like Yui, and this thought gives him the motivation to try to save her life.

I cried after Yui donated her blood to Subaru despite her illness. Yui is not in good health and is worried about Subaru's bad mood. She blames herself for not being able to offer her blood to Subaru.

After drinking Yui's blood, Subaru talks about its strange taste and it is here that Yui becomes disappointed. Not because she is sick, but because her blood is no longer special. I can understand why Yui was upset about this.

Yui has suffered the most severe torture and punishment from these boys and if we remember the first CDs and games, almost all the boys have told Yui several times that the only thing that makes Yui special is her blood and Or all her value is because of her blood and she has no value and blah blah blah.... Honestly, if I didn't know Yui well, I would say to myself that she was just disappointed by all this and decided to deal with her fate. But now that I know het well, I realize that she accepts this issue not for herself but for the person she loves.

She thinks that if all her worth is in her blood, then she will give her last drop to someone she loves, and it doesn't matter what happens to her, and it doesn't matter if she enters a hellish life. She thinks that the boy she loves has suffered enough, and if her blood makes him even a little bit happier, she will give it to him, even if she has to endure a terrible life.

This was exactly what made Subaru angry. He hates Yui's behavior. That Yui doesn't care about herself at all and she doesn't care what will happen to her. Don't do this, Subaru wants to scream at the top of his lungs. "You are worth more than me and my brothers. You deserve a better life. You should worry about your health and life, not that your blood is no longer special. Think about yourself, not worthless creatures like us."

It's hard for Subaru to express these feelings in words, that's why he just yells.

In any case, Subaru tries his best to save Yui. He apologizes to her and tells her that "I don't care about your blood at all. Your existence is precious to me. You were the one who saved me from the monster inside me and that's why you are dear to me."

Subaru sees his own life in Yui's. Because Yui was the only girl who did not look at him with the eyes of a monster and understood the goodness and beauty inside him and called him beautiful. Subaru does everything to save her. And when he sees that Reiji is useless, he gives his hope to the legends, even if this legend is not true, but it gives him a small hope that Subaru will try his luck. Because Yui is the only person he never wants to lose.

How does Subaru describe Yui's fake coma to keep herself alive?

"Your heart is not beating. Your skin was white as if you were really dead. At that moment, my heart stopped. I would give anything for you to breathe again. my foot, my hand, my arm....everything."

This sentence simply describes that if Yui disappears from this world, Subaru will also disappear. If Yui doesn't live in this world, Subaru has no reason to stay in this world. This simply shows that Subaru loves Yui more than his own life, that he is willing to give his whole being to Yui so that she can live and breathe.

Yui considers Subaru to be kind, but why does Subaru not approve of Yui's thinking. Because Subaru simply knows that he will never be as kind as Yui. Yui is willing to sacrifice her life to make the person she loves happy, but Subaru wants to sacrifice his life to be satisfied and happy, so Subaru considers himself selfish, not kind.

Subaru doesn't like churches, but he's willing to take her to church to make Yui happy. The church where they first met, and according to Subaru, both of them have changed a lot since then.

In any case, Subaru is not willing to watch Yui die and even if he can't find a magical fruit to replace Yui's heart, he is willing to give his heart to Yui. And he does it for himself, not Yui. He can't live in a world without Yui and that's why he wants to keep her alive at any cost.

Honestly, I find this very kind of Subaru. In any case, even if he is not alive, he knows that his heart will beat in the body of the girl he loves. Yui might cry, but as Subaru said, if you don't want to lose me, you need to know how I feel. Subaru doesn't want to lose Yui either.

Yui is precious to Subaru. More than anyone and anything else. Yui is the rose that shines in the dark for Subaru and makes him smile. Yui is a treasure that Subaru never wants to lose. Even if he gives his life to Yui.

How Subaru survived the loss of his heart left a lot of questions, but I think the ending was more symbolic. A symbol of a bridegroom who surrendered to the pure love of a girl.

What do you like about Marie and Jordan individually and what do you like about them as a pair?

For Marie, I just love her so much. First of all, I am always happy to see a black girl lead in any kind of diverse, non-stereotypical, non-sassy-side character role like this.

But I also appreciated how realistic she was. Like, I understood almost every choice she made. I saw people get mad at her at the start for not always doing the altruistic, "right thing", but for most people, self-preservation comes first. She didn't owe those other characters anything (especially after how they treated her) and I loved that she had a back bone and would actually talk back to people. But at her core, she is still a good person despite everything that has happened to her and still chooses not to be corrupted by Vought's influence once she understands the true material cost.

For Jordan, they're just such a nuanced character. One, I always have a soft-spot for the Lancer character archetype. The highly capable, second best, who can never quite out-do the main character (e.i. bakugo, reki (from sk8), Ron from HP (fuck jkr, but no other examples are coming to me atm)), and Jordan is just that. Like, yeah, they were kind of a bitch at the start, but it's so clear that they are secretly a softie and the world and their experiences have forced them to have a tough shell. Also, their powers as an allegory for gender identity, yes, it's on the nose (although, as someone who grew up reading 90s/2000s manga like Ranma 1/2, not that unheard of), but I think the show handled questions of their identity really well.

And finally for Limoreau...

idk where to start. tbh, as someone who has been hyper fixating on characters and ships since high school, I never really have a clear explanation of why I ship the characters I do. I either like it or I don't. But Limoreau is such a pleasant surprise because the chemistry was there from the start, but it felt like one of those queer dynamics that the writers would be too scared to pursue (think Arthur/merlin or Gojo/Geto). I think the fact that our MAIN PAIRING is a queer, interracial couple with no white people, shouldn't be as revolutionary as it is in 2023, but it is! I hope this is a positive direction for on-screen storytelling.

But also everyone loves a classic "enemies to lovers" (yes, I know they're not EtL in the true sense, but I consider Rivals-to-lovers as a subset of EtL, so I'm using it as an umbrella term). I think the reason people like EtL dynamics (Especially in het pairings) is that there is always an underlying respect beneath the "hatred". Like, to see someone as a threat, you have to see them as at least an equal.

It was clear from the start that Marie and Jordan were more alike than different and it was Vought and the corrupt nature of Godolkin pushing them to compete. They're both lonely in different ways, and I love the idea of them finding acceptance and a home with each other (Also all three actors are extremely attractive and have great chemistry, so that never hurts).

Do I wish their relationship had been paced out a bit more? Yes. But that was my issue with all of Gen V. I think the whole show would have benefitted from 12 eps, instead of 8, because development was needed in most areas.

I also just want to note, for all the people saying their relationship "came out of nowhere", I truly feel that if Marie looked like Erin Moriarty and Jordan looked like Chace Crawford, most people would have clocked the romance from the beginning, jus saying...

I don’t do angsty endings, my fics all end happily ;-)

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Hm. Well. All my fics end on a happy note, but for me, it’s probably Spare Parts because that happy ending was the one I felt was the hardest won. But I do have a soft spot for the last chapter of Bakers with Benefits, because that was also a long road, both for Sherlock and for me.

Hasn’t happened so far. Granted, I only posted one of my many, many Wincest stories, so maybe if I had more of them on AO3, but as it stands, I never got hate on one of my fics, and I hope it stays this way. The odd rude comment, but no hate.

Do you write smut?

Yup. But not a lot of it. I find the older I get the less smut I write, probably because it’s starting to feel repetitive. Which is funny, because I’ve written hundreds of love confessions and I never get tired of those. 

Do you write crossovers?

Not yet. If the inspiration strikes, I might yet write one, but so far I haven’t.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I’m aware of. I’m not on Wattpad and the likes, so there might be some stolen copies of my works out there, but who knows. Someone once told me about this person who plagiarized one of my J2 fics and re-wrote it as a Degrassi het fic, but the person had already deleted their account, so I couldn’t verify it. That was… bizarre. 

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, several. Speak Now was translated into Spanish, Bakers with Benefits into French and Without Complexities or Pride into Russian.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

My darling wife @nuttersinc and I co-wrote thousands of words of fic. We hosted fests and LJ communities, ran an online RPG together and co-wrote a huge fic series that we abandoned when we both fell out of that fandom at the same time. We haven’t been in the same fandom since back in our Supernatural days, but we did just about everything fandom spouses can do together except host a podcast ;-)

14 .  What’s your all time favourite ship?

I mean… Johnlock just has The Dynamic down to a science. You can do so much with them. You can do anything. They’re so wonderfully perfect for each other in all their fucked-up, flawed, deeply human glory. But having said that, I have a weak spot deep in my heart for Mulder and Scully, because they were so important to me as a teenager, and they led me to fandom and fanfic. They’re the first ship that truly owned my soul. So a part of my heart will always belong to them.

(They also led me to my second favourite het ship of all time, Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane, because Mulder compared himself and Scully to Peter and Harriet in one of my favourite fics, so of course I had to go read the books, and man, that’s a Dynamic, right there. Two whip-smart, emotionally extremely vulnerable people both desperately wanting and being deadly scared of true intimacy. I eat that up with a spoon. Also love the ‘man totally besotted with the smart, independent woman cutting his ego down to size’ dynamic.)

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Oh, so MANY. I never post WIPS because I want to feel free to abandon stories whenever, so I’m the only one haunted by my WIP folder, but there’s a few in there I would really like to come back to one of these days. But never say never, the first three pages of Nothing Gold Can Stay sat in there for MONTHS, gestating. You never know.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I can only say what I enjoy writing, I hope that joy translates itself to the page. I love writing dialogue and I think I’m pretty good at it. I think I’m good at pacing, and I think I’m good at making people Feel Things.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I sometimes lose patience with plot. Because I mostly use plot as a means for character development, I sometimes lose patience with my own plots. That mostly happens in the fics I don’t finish, and it’s mostly the reason I don’t finish the fic. I’m also not especially good at handling large casts of characters, many of my fics have very few characters.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic? 

Honestly, it hasn’t come up yet. I would only do it in German, because that’s my native language, otherwise I’d be too worried to get it wrong. I don’t generally like it when conversations aren’t translated. Othewise I have no strong feelings about it.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Wrote? X-Files. Posted? Roswell.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

Oh, that’s hard. The ones I loved writing the most are probably Take Two and my J2 highschool AU. I wrote both very quickly in a sort of fugue state, and it just feels amazing when that happens. The one I enjoy re-visiting the most? Bakers with Benefits.

"het sasuke" and this blog

honestly the thing that was most hurtful about that situation is not them threatening to kill me for betraying their favourite ship (i didnt), them admitting to harassing me and others for entertainment/because they were jealous i was talking to people other than them, or them thinking they can give me ultimatums on what to do

it was one throw away line that turned out to be a much bigger piece of the puzzle: "i asked someone else and they also are uncomfortable by you."

this person knew extensively of my anxiety how it affected me. i had discussed it with them privately and publicly. in an attempt to manipulate me, they went around not only to our group of friends but to others to lie about the situation, misrepresent me, and gain ammo to "convince me" to do what they want exclusively. mind you, this is a straight man whose blog is full of porn of anime girls and thinks gay people cant have children.

so now, coincidentally all of a sudden im seeing posts about "hating sasuke being mischaracterized as heterosexual" from blogs and freaking out because this person planted the idea in my head that people secretly hate my blog. i have been on the internet for a long time and have experienced a lot of things, one of them being how a small lie can turn into a harassment campaign. i also personally have experience with someone cyberstalking me to abuse me based on their interpretation of the content.

for my own peace of mind i'm just going to clarify a couple things:

the first instance of "heterosexuality" was a friend saying they got more notifs from me than someone they were romantically pursuing and they were nervous, i tried to make them feel better by saying logically that means we are dating instead. this person has 0 romantic interest in me, so i made the joke knowing theyd react in ire and it would be a fun back and forth to take their mind off the situation.

the second instance of "heterosexuality" is another friend who is not romantically interested in me (in fact theyre interested in itachi, so part of this started as me wanting to beat itachi) that had offered to be a surrogate and godmother to sasunaru children. thats it. thats the context behind jokes between us.

the third instance of "heterosexuality" was me making fun of people's (of all genders) interest in me. it wasnt a serious appeal.

now at the end of the day i justify these choices with these three ideas: "sasuke regularly uses teasing and banter to throw friends off kilter for amusement" "sasuke's only longterm interactions with women are women who disrespect and objectify him" "sasuke's priority is the people he cares about, and is more comfortable around such people". i dont think these ideas are mischaracterizations.

more than anything though, i recognize that as an autistic person with anxiety, this situation has successfully stressed me out to the point where im scared to interact with my blog at all. i cannot tell how serious these posts about hating/being angry about a "heterosexual sasuke" or a "sasuke who doesnt hate women" are. i dont know whether these are people who interact with me/that i interact with but secretly hate me. i cannot tell if people are genuinely angry with me, but i also cannot ask because it would draw attention to me that i dont want. but because this person intentionally put me into a triggered state over it, im starting to care about things i normally wouldnt. i recognize that on its face, being "accused of being too straight" is ridiculous. in order to not be a hypocrite, i personally block people before i criticize something theyve said or done.

so im going to take an indefinite break from posting/interacting until i can calm down from that state. thanks and sorry to those who supported me the past few days.

I have talked about this a little bit before. And someone in a comment once mentioned that Ohm (bad buddy and many other BLs) also said something to this effect :

It’s one of the biggest issues I have around IRL shipping within the global Kpop stan communities. Because a lot of westerners are so uncomfortable and unused to (and internally homophobic around) men showing physical affection to each other, they assume 2 boys in a group who are physically demonstrative are automatically gay. When, in fact, it’s just men are more affectionate with each other in general at that age and in that culture. 

(This is different from Thai BL couple branding and skinship baiting, which is a can of worms because it’s: intentional, commercial, mercenary, and possibly contractually abusive to some pairs.) 

Back to Kpop ranting...

All those YT channels making videos about Kpop “gay” relationships are actually just displaying the “creators” own rampant internalized homophobia and complete misunderstanding of another culture. 

And do I think some of these idols are gay? Well yes, of course, statistically speaking, some of them must be. Just like some BL actors must be. Yes, even the ones in China. But that’s so entirely not the point. Frankly, the gay ones are more likely to be reserved about showing affection, BECAUSE THEY’RE SCARED OF THIER FANS. 

Let’s call a spade a spade shall we? (rather than a not-gay a gay). 

This is touch shaming men, which is frankly disgusting, given how many problems we have (in the western world particularly) with men being touched starved. Should I make the correlation between this and toxic masculinity, incel behavior, and higher rates of suicide (and violence) amongst men? Well I COULD, but I’m not gonna, because it’s an incredibly complicated issue. And I’m exhausted by the whole conversation. 

Frankly, being queer means we gotta deal with higher rates of abuse, violence, and suicide ourselves... I don’t got a lot left over to worry about the straight boys, except on an anthropological level. 

In conclusion: IRL 

don’t assume sexual identity from the physical contact or physical comfort levels you observe, especially within a different culture 

ask permission for whatever you wanna do to someone else

don’t touch shame, celebrity or otherwise

and don’t let or teach your kids to do any of this, either, no matter how young they are

earlier i was so sure that offgun are never gonna split. but now, i have this gut feeling that gun has packed his bags. because the level of mistreatment both offgun are facing rn is insane. streets are saying the trainee is gonna start airing from march? kinda feels like gmmtv wants to rush through and milk them as much as they can without giving them the exposure, like not allowing them to promote their work in their own shows like ogfn, not giving them opportunity to promote their work in other gmmtv shows etc. off is single-handedly doing all the fanservice and helping the show trend on X, so i am guessing he'll stay and switch to het shows. gun doesn't post anything about cooking crush, and doesn't care about the show's promo and the ship anymore so i feel like he's the one who's leaving.

obsessed with this (and many others) story being so dead-set on two main guys and their just absurdly close relationship and then having the balls so say NO HOMO and being so scared of having an open end so it just had to follow the heteronormativity norms. im so sick and tired of it. it just cheapens the whole things. it cheapens whatever respect there was for female characters involved, which was already not a lot because well. lets be honest yeah. i just wish these stories were self-aware enough to leave the characters alone. no relationship is better than what usually happens in these stories :( that's why im so hesitant to read the novel because im not always able to ignore such stupid literary device. im ranting to your inbox because i think you'll get it and my god i was so bitter when i was spoiled about the story's ending and the violent need to have everyone married it's hhghgghhhnng

and yeah i agree, at this point i'm not even really asking for a ship to be canon, i truly do believe sometimes the better option is to just have an open ending and leaving things to the imagination, but the amount of times authors feel the need to shove a last minute het romance just so they can beat the queer allegations,,, is too many to count

i think what gets me with tged is that,,, you can really take away the canon romance and nothing changes. it adds nothing to the plot, it really was something bk moon added in the last chapters purely to make it canon at the end. you could erase those bits and the general plot and characterization remains the same. it is... bad writing to be honest. like. from a purely technical standpoint that's a bad relationship, that's not how you add a romance to your plot!

but! on the other hand! the fact that it can be erased that easily does make it very easy to ignore it and focus on the good parts of the plot which are truly worth everything else aksdhskaj

it's like,, the gay equivalent of that thing marvel does where it includes their 'diversity' moments in such a way that you can cut them off and the film is still perfectly watchable. here you can cut the straight bits and you still get an awesome novel with great characters and deeply moving relationships lmao

Yeah. i did my fair bit of ranting when the webcomic decided to make silurian javier's love interest, retroactively fridging her for his manpain and also straight up ignoring and erasing her arc in the novel about her not needing to marry to be made heir for the city. like. they just didn't mention it. at all. what the fuck.

and then there's alicia who. the more i think about her and the way her relationship with lloyd is handled the more upset i get. she was such a cool character, with her own thing going on, her own motivations, her own worries, her own deal. and then she becomes lloyd's love interest because. well, she's literally the only important enough female character who isn't related to lloyd or already married who can do it. like. that's it.

silurian gets an entire arc about why she doesn't need to marry lloyd, sherazade marries lloyd's brother, marbella is his mom, moira basically disappears after her introduction... and that's... it, i think?? who else?? emily? the mermaid queen? i for the longest time thought raphael was a girl and was sorely disappointed to find out he was not so. yeah.

then there's the "magentano carry" title effect thing going on and,,, that's a whole mess on its own. i hate it. there's literally an otherwordly power making alicia trust lloyd. let me rephrase that. they had to force the canon love interest into giving her full trust to the main character. the very foundation of their relationship is built on her being literally unable to mistrust him because there's an external force forcing down her suspicions and doubts about him.

and we have canon confirmation that if lloyd pushes hard enough when she's already paranoid because of other factors, that effect can break and all her mistrust and wariness about the potential danger he is to the crown come back with full force and she'll declare him a traitor and go to war against him. like. that's the state of their trust and relationship when the novel is 89% done. i'm not even slightly exaggerating i literally did the math.

it's. it's just bad. it's so bad. i'm. i don't know what else to say. she didn't deserve that. lloyd didn't deserve that. we certainly didn't deserve that either.

so like. after all of this it'll sound really hypocrite of me to tell you to read the novel but. i do think it's still worth it. everything i'm talking about is. such a small part of the entire novel. which is kind of the problem but also the very reason i still think it's worth reading it.

thoughts on bumbleby?

I…genuinely can't see a version of RWBY where those two are NOT the endgame. As characters they are closely tied since the very first trailer, the beauty and the beast metaphors just literally write themselves and beyond Cinder's plot, its the single most well built up thing in Volume 1 through 3 and their trauma is intrinsically linked. Their relationship is genuinely THERE - be it in terms of each allowing themselves to be vulnerable when around each other or just how much blake subconsciously tied herself emotionally to Yang (considering how much Mercury stuff hits her in V3). Its likely the single most tangible idea in the show.

The fact that I have SEVERE doubts it would have gone ANYWHERE had RWBY not been put into a situation where it's very survival as a show is in danger…speaks miles about how RWBY is handling various aspects of itself, be it characterization or social issues…

The show is…not great with inclusivity…at all. Be it tackling it as in-story issue (be it WF storyline or how the show handles trauma) or actually being inclusive. Inclusivity is something that comes up as patchwork against critique, rather than something that's intervowen into the show. The amount of queerbait, heternormativity, ableism or just outright insensitivity is just…yeah. Till certain point show is completely oblivious just how heteronormative it is, like it takes legit YEARS before the criticism reaches the writers and they throw at the viewer "here LGBT people exist" kind of moment.

It kind of made me feel like this relationship is this "break in case of emergency" thing, where the show is absolutely afraid to commit to any sort of buildup and instead dangles it as POSSIBILITY, while also throwing in a good share of random het stuff around. You take any moment in time of RWBY existing, Monty or no Monty and you will have SOMETHING - be it the way Sun's team is used in S2 that feels like writers being scared of WLW ships that came to be or the infamous bumbleby song incident where RT released an absolutely romantic ship song during pride month and then backpedalled hard on how it means nothing for canon and how all songs totally mean nothing for canon. Or how after the absolutely charged build up in V3, you get an…entire season of trying to counter-balance it with Blake and Sun where the show tries to execute a similar plotpoint between them. Its a repeated pattern of plausible deniability.

Even if you take a moment without a controversy brewing, it always felt like the writers are AFRAID of Blake and Yang actually interacting or progressing as characters or as a relationship. Volume 4 through 8 are filled with the kinds of situations where Blake and Yang "share a scene together", but in terms of writing it feels like there's intentional artificial wall placed in between them. The characters are not allowed to deal with their separation at the end of V3 because it could be viewed as romantic, the characters are not allowed to vocalize their trauma because their traumas are intertwined and it could be viewed as romantic bonding, the characters are not allowed to to react to each other's actions because reacting to each other can be seen as romantic. So in a way you get a lot of scenes where Blake and Yang can stand together in a same scene but not really progress.

Like not even just as a pairing, you don't need a pairing to deal with character sexuality. You can still do entirety of will they won't they after having confirmed that yes Blake and Yang can be interested in women romantically. But the show avoids it till the last possible moment.

Given to be fair, that applies to more than LGBT topics - Ruby has spent her ENTIRE SCREENTIME from start of V4 till end of V8 being juuuuust on the brink of having a proper character moment where she can reflect on her trauma, for example, just scene upon scene where any kind of breakthrough is suddenly interrupted or goes nowhere. That's because the show is afraid of committing to ANYTHING overall, not just LGBT pairings. Any sort of character development, any sort of growth or change, any sort of progress. Any bigger revelation is toothless (just think back onto Salem flashback and just how it changes absolutely NOTHING in the show)

So you have basically a show where you have a bunch of characters and relationships with a lot of potential and possible build up and the show kind of does nothing with it for entire seasons. Because the show is afraid of change or progress of any sort.

Countries can fall, people can die and nothing changes.

Characters Don't. Status Quo Doesn't. Setting Doesn't.

It feels like the show is stuck. Stuck just after V3 ended. Stuck and just throwing multiple kind of redundant plotlines at the viewer to distract.

I love Blake and Yang as a pairing and I think its one thing that makes the most sense in the show. Its one of the main draws to the show for me when I still watched it.

I wish this show was THE show that lived up to the boundless storytelling potential that that relationship is...alas.

So yeah, its complicated.
