Does the novel make such a big deal out of Lloyd and Javier's looks in the mermaid arc as the webcomic currently is? Sometimes I can't tell if it's taking itself seriously
i gotta admit. that in this one arc yes their looks are very much a part of the plot. mostly javier's. like. this man has so much pretty privilege it actually moves the plot along. it's infuriating. i love him.
the difference between the webnovel and webcomic is that the latter wants you to believe that lloyd is the ugliest guy in the world and javier just happens to be very handsome. while the webnovel really fucking wants you to understand that javier is extremely pretty. like. unbelievable so. he's the most beautiful guy in the whole wide world. and lloyd just has the unfortunate luck of standing beside him while having a plain face.
there's a difference there and i hate that the webcomic went that route but i guess i can see why they wouldn't want their protagonist to constantly be thinking about how fucking gorgeous his best friend is at any moment possible including while he's about to be squashed to death. like. i guess i can understand how that could alienate some of their target audience lol
so yeah, in the novel, particularly in this arc, we hear a lot about how pretty javier is. and not really that much about lloyd's looks. because there's really not that much to say. he's Just a Guy™.

#poetry#my work#lane archives#chronic pain#chronic migraines#chronic illness#this poem is still pretty ouch#the us medical system can really suck in its cyclical lack of progress regarding finding out what's “wrong” with a person#due to crazy long wait times for appointments & processing referrals as well as 4 profit health insurance#my chronic migraines had to escalate into epilepsy for me to be seen by an actual neurologist and be taken seriously & even now I still fee#neglected by the system#not because my drs are bad but because they're overloaded with patients#it's really exhausting & difficult to have to fight at every turn to receive the care we need & deserve when we're bent over in pain#in my experience this repetitive cycle really broke down my ability to advocate for myself for a while because I was just too depressed#but hey if you're reading this and you relate: I love you. You deserve to feel better and to be supported by your physicians#I'm getting better care now but healing isn't linear#and if you have insurance & you're feeling absolutely fucking crushed by the system pls look up if they have a nurse advice line & call the#to see if they're able to set up a complex care coordination plan & if the nurses themselves can set up appointments for you#it really helps to have an insurance lady or 3 you can call to set up appts & referrals or check on them to see where they're stuck#I could write a poem dedicated to all the wonderful women in social services who are literally saving my life every time they call

epic win at old lady group today: the group leader was struggling with a tangled up loose skein of yarn, so i scampered over to the other end of the table where was sitting and offered to untangle it and wind it into a centre-pull yarn bal for her since I remembered how to do it from just the other day fjdkdl and she was very confused why i would WANT to do that but she let me :3
so i got to untangle yarn AND wind a yarn ball AND help someone i appreciate, three things i love doing - YIPPEE !!!
#also one of the ladies had never seen the way i do it before and she was so fascinated and impressed fjdkdl#every couple mins she'd be like ''wow! would ya look that!'' HEY!#so I'm looking around at the sound a bit confused but figured maybe there was a parking or give way type issue with the cars#i then see this bloke walk up to a qml car (pathology organisation with the cars usually doing the in home samples)#taps on their window and is all OH so you like to be in a rush huh?? with that I'm smiling but seething and ready to attack you kind of tone#he's this sorta wiry 30s bloke with the cropped beard and dickhead hair#you know the type that there's a million of here and a good amount are total pricks. he looked short too. #I was supposed to go on break at 7:30 and it turned 7:30 while I was halfway through one customer with on more in line with just a few thing#So I figured okay I’ll flip off my light and get through these two then go on break. Well naturally a third lady joins the line#The night is pretty dead so I just go “oh ma’am if you would mind popping down to lane three they can get you all taken care of :D”#And she with peak exasperation she goes “NO there’s a long line at three. There’s a long lane everywhere actually”#I just shrug and go about finishing the person Im ringing up intending to just dip the moment im done and let her go wait in the line#Then I notice one of the lanes down there is open and literally empty so I go “Hey ma’-am lane four is just opening up now if you want to-“#And she interrupts me to go “Yeah I see. I think it’s been open the whole time I think” and walks off#And I…. I’m not sure what to say to that#Did she know the whole time?
