Ekko had always been intrigued by you. From the first time he’d caught a glimpse of you in Zaun, he’d pegged you as the silent type, intense with that don’t-mess-with-me aura. You were usually found in the corner of any room you entered, often watching others with a gaze that could cut through glass. Most people didn’t get close enough to try talking to you, content with spreading rumors instead: some said you had a secret criminal past; others thought you might have alchemical powers that could hypnotize anyone with a glance.

But Ekko didn’t buy it. He knew better than most that appearances could be deceiving. So, he decided to talk to you himself, casually striking up a conversation at the Hideout one day after he’d noticed you tinkering with something in the corner.

“Hey, whatcha working on?” Ekko leaned over your shoulder, watching as your hands deftly tightened screws and adjusted wires.

Caught off guard, you jerked slightly, glancing up at him with wide eyes. But you quickly masked it, pulling up that familiar guarded expression, making Ekko smirk a bit. He wasn’t easily intimidated.

“Just… something I’m building,” you replied coolly, your voice steady but your eyes shifting nervously. “Helps me think.”

Intrigued, Ekko leaned against the wall, arms crossed. “Mind if I watch?”

You didn’t answer immediately, but after a brief pause, you nodded. As he watched, you slowly began explaining each piece of machinery, your voice growing a bit stronger and more assured with each word. After a while, he noticed the hardened look in your eyes beginning to soften. By the time you’d finished the explanation, your whole demeanor had relaxed just a bit.

A few days later, Ekko bumped into you again, and you couldn’t help but launch into an animated explanation about something random you’d been reading about—extinct animals. Before you knew it, you were on a full-blown tangent about the Moa bird, a giant flightless bird from New Zealand that had been hunted to extinction centuries ago.

“They were enormous, like ten feet tall, with these long necks! And did you know their legs were so powerful that one kick could shatter bones?” Your eyes lit up as you spoke, hands gesturing wildly. “It’s kinda sad… but also fascinating how ecosystems just change when one creature disappears.”

Ekko just grinned, genuinely enjoying the infodump. He’d never expected that someone as intense-looking as you could be so endearing in such a nerdy way. “That’s cool, I didn’t know that. What got you into extinct animals?”

You shrugged, a small smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. “I just… like learning about things. And sharing them, even though I know most people think it’s boring.”

“Boring? Nah, I think it’s cool. You got any other fun facts up your sleeve?”

You blinked in surprise, before diving into your latest fascination—criminology. He listened as you passionately detailed the science behind forensic psychology, your eyes lighting up as you explained how criminals are profiled. At one point, you started mimicking a detective’s voice, spinning a little story about a fictional thief in Zaun who’d slipped through the Enforcers’ hands multiple times.

Ekko laughed, “You’d make a great storyteller. Ever thought of putting all these ideas into a book or something?”

The suggestion took you aback. “I don’t know… I just think people wouldn’t really get it.”

“Bet they would,” Ekko said with a reassuring smile. “And hey, even if they don’t, I’m all ears.”

Over time, your quiet bond grew stronger. Ekko made a habit of stopping by to hear your latest “random obsession,” and you found yourself looking forward to sharing with him, little by little letting go of the intimidating front you put up for the world.

One night, he found you on a rooftop, writing notes in a worn-out notebook by the light of the moon. You looked up as he approached, giving him a slight nod in greeting, but he could see the glint of excitement in your eyes.

“What’s on your mind tonight?” he asked, settling down beside you.

*UPDATE: After more research into how other sapioromantics/sapiosexuals experience their own sexuality, and diving a bit deeper into my own romantic and sexual attraction patterns towards "geeks", turns out I am very much both sapioromantic and sapiosexual as well as demisexual.

i.e. My romantic attraction is exclusively intellectually driven. I don't need any prior emotional bond with a person to be romantically attracted to them, but I do need to be highly interested in the way their brain works and they actively intellectually express themselves when they start "geeking out" to experience a crush (sapio).

But I can only experience sexual attraction with: a) very close friends that I feel a strong emotional bond with (demi) and with whom I strongly intellectually connect and/or whose minds fascinate me (sapio); or b) sapioromantic love interests (sapio) that I've developed a very close emotional bond (demi) with as well.

I'm actually exclusively sexually attracted to people that gives off what I call a "geeky vibe". I'm a bisexual guy. Once I'm past my initial `terrified of everything' and 'extremely withdrawn' phase of anxiety, I'm very energetic (though not very loud) and flirty. l love all fields of science, especially mathematics and physics. Very nerdy/ geeky, and I also paint and practice

As a Viking and a sailor, Godbrand has a particular interest in science, mostly astronomy, and geography, but he enjoys listening to all the knowledge you’re willing to share about mathematics and physics. Despite what you may think, Godbrand is rather intelligent. He may be brash and lack tact, but he does pay attention to the emotions and behaviors of others. Every once in a while his arrogance gets in the way, but for a vampire, he’s rather attuned to the mental state of those around him. 

I think he’d pick up on your impulsive tendencies and ADHD-type humor fairly quickly, although that may not be a good thing, as he can be rather impulsive himself lol. The both of you are thrill seekers, so neither one of you is there to act as the stubborn voice of reason in all the escapades the two of you get up to. It drives all the others crazy, but neither you nor Godbrand pay them any mind. 

Godbrand loves to show off all his combat skills to you, and he is so glad you don’t run away screaming when he demonstrates how he takes down a five-man human army all by his lonesome. Saw the Bishagate video for the 1st time & I think he knew exactly what he was saying...

I am a late comer to Supernatural & all the behind the scene 'drama'. Having read about 'Bishagate' on Tumblr, I was curious to see the actual video where Misha makes his infamous 'I am all 3 statement'. I was expecting it to show him stumbling over his words & blurting out 'bisexual' by mistake (when in fact he meant to use a word such as 'ambivert'). But the video shows that this was no 'misspeaking'! he purposely uses the word 'bisexual' then pauses for effect to give the audience time to catch up with what he has just said, he looks a bit nervous and seems to be breathing heavily the smiles then says 'I am all 3''. He then uses the term bisexual AGAIN shortly after and says that it would have been weird of him to ask the audience about how many of them were bisexual from the start so he (bizarrely) chose to start with asking them about being introvert/extrovert... I mean WTF? how did so many people in the fandom/media actually believe & accept for a second his explanation that this was 'accidental' slip of the tongue, that things were 'out of context' and that he never meant to use the term 'bisexual'. He absolutely used bisexual on purpose and knew exactly what he was saying... So the only explanations I can think of for this mess is that he ever thought it was ''funny'' to pretend to be/joke about being bisexual to get some attention/publicity which is rather crappy (I am queer & I really don't appreciate that type of 'jokes') or he really meant what he said and for whatever reason decided to get back in the closet. Neither options are actually showing him in a great light & I find all this rather disappointing. I will continue to love the Castiel character but being asked to swallow this nonsense by the actor who plays him is not happening because it defies all logic when you watch the actual footage. The statement that Misha then put out on social media is also problematic because it starts with a claim that is simply not true: ''My clumsy intention was to wave off actually discussing my sexuality''. Again the video footage contradicts this. A fan asked a question about the Covid lockdowns and what Misha had learned about himself during that period which leads him to saying he discovered he was more of an extrovert than he thought. The fan's question made no reference to sexuality. Misha brings up bisexuality out of the blue, you can even hear someone in the audience say 'where did that come from?'. So if a statement starts with a lie, it is hard to then read anything else that it contains as truthful. Celebrities, like anyone else, don't owe others details about their sexuality but they do have a responsibility not to appropriate queerness as a marketing tool if they are not queer or to treat it as a joke. SPN has a long history of queer baiting and Misha should know better than to continue that sorry tradition. On the other hand if the reason for this mess was that he felt uncomfortable with the attention he received and decided to backtrack then that's incredibly sad. I also think that him claiming the network asked him to continue to pretend to be bi is misleading: instead it is very likely that their PR people pointed out that he had dug a rather large hole for himself and that the best way was to keep quiet, let the media interest die down & decline to comment further on his sexuality from then on. Because there was no way PR-wise that Misha could avoid a negative backlash if he had to admit that this was yet another queer-baiting stunt from him/he thought that joking about being bisexual was appropriate. This would also have brought the SPN existing queer baiting/homophobia issues under the spotlight and bring in more bad publicity for the network. To conclude I wish I had just continued to enjoy Supernatural, flawed, geeky but still funny & often moving, rather than look into the behind the scene (the conventions drama, the questionable behaviour/statements made by some of the actors) because it coloured the show negatively for me after that.

The Asian Aquaman

Not a dating story, hence the lack of numbering, but significant enough to have a post.

I was swiping on Hinge when I came across a very buff, long-haired Asian guy. He reminded me very much of Aquaman, except Asian.

I swiped right on him but saw he left his Instagram on his account. I went to check out his profile. I was thoroughly impressed by his physique and thought he was really cute from the photos he had online, despite the long locks. (I was on his gymming account, so it had lots of weight-lifting).

For the first time, I went ahead and liked a few of his Instagram images to see what happens. He immediately liked back and followed me within the next hour. Then we got chatting.

I quickly learned that he was NOT in Toronto, but from Montreal. He told me he came to Toronto every month because his company was in Toronto. He also told me straight off the bat that he preferred friendship first over dating.

Not how I would do things, but considering I approached him on Instagram and not the apps, fair enough. We kept chatting for days straight via Instagram, leading into the lates of night.

I was perturbed when I heard him speak in a video he sent me of himself. Despite the fact he looked like Aquaman, he sounded like the nasally-geeky kid that gets bullied in every high school movie. It was a bit of a turn-off but I decided to look past that. Not to mention he seemed so cynical about life. Like how the world was doomed and he was okay to see it go into rubble because the human race destroyed everything. I felt like I was talking to a high school emo kid throughout our chats.

After about two weeks of chatting, he revealed that he was coming into town (without actually asking to hang out). I hinted around meeting up until he agreed. Even though we were just "friends", I still wanted to at least meet a friend!

When I finally met him in person, the persona I had in my head died off completely.

His gym persona online was the complete opposite of him in real life. He had this toothy smile (that I actually don't like and now understands why he smiles with his mouth closed) and overall just this very meek and introverted personality.

Everyone that knows me knows that I am extroverted and have adopted many introverted friends. But if I feel it's a little tough to get you out of your shell in the beginning, it usually means we aren't compatible.

Regardless, I still wanted to continue chatting with him to see where things went. He went back to Montreal after and we chatted a bit more.

The convo came to a fade out after I found out that he didn't want children. Despite the fact that we were chatting "as friends", it was obviously not. I was still dissecting him to see if he would be a good partner.

About 2-3 months later, he ended up dating a girl he knows in real life (based on my internet sleuthing). She's probably a better fit for him anyway cause she seemed like the wholesome, no-frills type of girl. It suits that awkward, introverted personality of his. Again, if I closed my eyes and only listened to him talk, I just imagine that he is this really awkward-looking Asian guy that I would never consider dating.

So yup, this one went absolutely nowhere.

"Oh, she's cute. I love her earrings." You held the phone up long enough for Idia to nod at with a small smile, before it got passed around for everyone to coo over. "You interested in her, Cater?"

"Ah, some. We've been chatting." He looked a bit dreamy, thinking on it. "We're going to try and meet up next break and see how we like each other in person."

You smiled. "Good luck, dude. She's definitely your type."

He laughed. "I do like them very cute, don't I?"

"You do, yeah." You turned to Kalim. "What do you like in someone? You probably have a type."

Kalim leaned back and thought on it. "I really like... Shining dark eyes and silky flowing hair."

When you found the two boys standing with a third, holding perhaps the most wonderful creature you'd ever seen in your life, you went over to explain how it was going to go. Only it didn't turn out like that.

She - what a cliche, the new student at a one-gender school being the opposite - turned to look at you. Enormous puffy eye circles that rivaled your own, close-cropped dark hair, eyes of no particular colour, all in a soft, pimply face with a double chin. This was the one that caused all the trouble?

Her smile dropped away immediately, replaced by wide eyes and slack jaw. She didn't blink, only stared directly at you, though you, muttering an endless stream of something you could not hear as she refused to stop looking or even blink. You knew a bad time when you saw it, and fled the battle before it could begin. You only just heard a voice go "Who WAS that?" before you were out of earshot, running back to your room as fast as possible.

My Interpretation of Miles Edgeworth’s Edgelord Phase

I've been noticing some posts of Miles Edgeworth in a teenage goth phase. If I had to be honest, I see Miles going through a Nerd Phase than anything. As much as I love to tease how he's a Victorian Edgelord, he's not really that kind of edgelord. Perhaps, if he grew up in the 70's and 80's when that was considered edgey, then maybe. Though, Miles Edgeworth was born in 1992 and, by the time he was growing up, being punk and goth was no longer considered edgey and more mainstream by the early 2000's.

Now, Nerd and Geek Culture was considered very edgey during the 90's and bit of the early 2000's. It has only become mainstream recently by the 2010's. During those times, I can see Miles getting involved in his studies and geeking over the Samurai shows at the time. He'd likely participate in the Book Club, Math Club, Study Hall, Anime Club and so on. He'd also be the goody two-shoes that always was the Teacher's Pet, something that definitely would be edgey. He would have maybe have that one or two friends, if not Phoenix and Larry, or no friends at all, since he's very introverted and focused on his studies.

That's my theory anyways. I could be wrong, but this seems to fit Miles Edgewort's character as someone, who has always been a bookworm toward law books as a kid and a closeted Steel Samurai Nerd. Since we are talking about rebellious and edgey Miles Edgeworth, the Nerd/Geek Phase would fit him the best during his teen years. I can see Miles Edgeworth being more open about his geekdom without worrying about reputation that could risk losing his job. This also would also work with a No DL-6 AU, being under MVK or living with his rich Aunt.

Now, I do think that Gregory Edgeworth was the goth/punk edgelord during his teen years, but only because he would have grown up in the 70's and 80's when being goth and punk was considered rebellious. Though, Miles Edgeworth is unlikely to ever turn punk or be into that sort of thing. There's also understanding why goth/punk was considered edgey during those times, which would not fit well, if Miles was born in 1992.

I can tell you, as someone born in 1991 and grew up in the late 90's and early 2000's that Miles Edgeworth would have grown up at a time when goth and punk was as trendy as they come. Being geeky and nerdy was more rebellious by comparison and yes, that was my edgelord, rebellious phase. I was that kid you'd find playing Yugioh with my friends or studying while everyone else was being loud and obnoxious. I also always stayed on the teachers' good side, because I hated how everyone disrespected them almost all the dang time.

Of course, everyone has their edgelord phase, but I can't see Miles Edgeworth being the goth or punk type. Maybe Phoenix or Larry, but not Miles Edgeworth. Those are my thoughts anyways. Tell me what you think.

I’m so sorry it took me a long time, I completely forgot about this ask. 😭

Shinichi is much calmer than Heiji and Kaito. He’s not as action-oriented as Heiji and Kaito, and he’s more introverted than them. I mean he does like to be around people but he’s not as outgoing as Heiji and Kaito are. Shinichi is also calculating rather than impulsive, and tries to find a way to fix the issue or save someone the right way rather than just jump into the situation to help the person. Shinichi is also more in touch with his feelings, and he knew how he felt towards Ran when he was just a kid. I feel like Shinichi is more soft with his s/o and would gently kiss rather than kabedon like Heiji. He’s also much more comfortable kissing in public, unlike Heiji. He’s more on the cute side (he’s still hot tho 🥵) Another thing that’s different is that his lifestyle is more western (just like Kaito).

Heiji is not calm at allll, he’s loud. He’s very action-oriented and always has to be doing something. He’s very extroverted and blunt af lol. He’s also very very impulsive and usually jumps into the situation without thinking and relies on instincts, especially when someone is in danger. Unlike Shinichi, Heiji is not in touch with his emotions at alll, it’s very hard for him to understand why he feels the way he feels, and sometimes he doesn’t even know what he’s feeling (like when he didn’t know that he was jealous or the fact that he likes Kazuha). Heiji is more rough than Shinichi, and he’s the type to kabedon (just like he attempted to do with “Kazuha”) and he’s not comfortable with PDA like Shinran are (he attempted to kiss Kazuha in private and panicked when he almost got caught kissing “Kazuha” by Ran), Heiji is more on the hot side (but still has his cute geeky side) and his lifestyle is so much more different than Kaito’s and Shinchi’s because it’s more traditional.

Kaito is not calm but not loud either, it really depends on his mood. Kaito seems to be more action-oriented and just like Shinichi he’s calculating and not impulsive like Heiji. Kaito seems to be an extrovert on the outside but I feel like he’s an introvert on the inside. Just like Shinichi, Kaito is in touch with his feelings and knows how he feels towards Aoko, however he’s much better at hiding it. Kaito is like Heiji in ways that he likes teasing Aoko just like Heiji likes teasing Kazuha. His lifestyle is very similar to Shinichi’s (lives alone, and more western than traditional). Kaito is very cunning which is a quality that I don’t believe Shinichi and Heiji have.
