Oh, you know, just the usual internet browsing experience in the year of 2024
Tumblr media
Some links and explanations since I figured it might be useful to some people, and writing down stuff is nice.
First of all, get Firefox. Yes, it has apps for Android/iOS too. It allows more extensions and customization (except the iOS version), it tracks less, the company has a less shitty attitude about things. Currently all the other alternatives are variations of Chromium, which means no matter how degoogled they supposedly are, Google has almost a monopoly on web browsing and that's not great. Basically they can introduce extremely user unfriendly updates and there's nothing forcing them to not do it, and nowhere for people to escape to. Current examples of their suggested updates are disabling/severly limiting adblocks in June 2024, and this great suggestion to force sites to verify "web environment integrity" ("oh you don't run a version of chromium we approve, such as the one that runs working adblocks? no web for you.").
uBlockOrigin - barely needs any explanation but yes, it works. You can whitelist whatever you want to support through displaying ads. You can also easily "adblock" site elements that annoy you. "Please log in" notice that won't go away? Important news tm sidebar that gives you sensory overload? Bye.
Dark Reader - a site you use has no dark mode? Now it has. Fairly customizable, also has some basic options for visually impaired people.
SponsorBlock for YouTube - highlights/skips (you choose) sponsored bits in the videos based on user submissions, and a few other things people often skip ("pls like and subscribe!"). A bit more controversial than normal adblock since the creators get some decent money from this, but also a lot of the big sponsors are kinda scummy and offer inferior product for superior price (or try to sell you a star jpg land ownership in Scotland to become a lord), so hearing an ad for that for the 20th time is kinda annoying. But also some creators make their sponsored segments hilarious.
Privacy Badger (and Ghostery I suppose) - I'm not actually sure how needed these are with uBlock and Firefox set to block any tracking it can, but that's basically what it does. Find someone more educated on this topic than me for more info.
Https Everywhere - I... can't actually find the extension anymore, also Firefox has this as an option in its settings now, so this is probably obsolete, whoops.
Facebook Container - also comes with Firefox by default I think. Keeps FB from snooping around outside of FB. It does that a lot, even if you don't have an account.
WebP / Avif image converter - have you ever saved an image and then discovered you can't view it, because it's WebP/Avif? You can now save it as a jpg.
YouTube Search Fixer - have you noticed that youtube search has been even worse than usual lately, with inserting all those unrelated videos into your search results? This fixes that. Also has an option to force shorts to play in the normal video window.
Consent-O-Matic - automatically rejects cookies/gdpr consent forms. While automated, you might still get a second or two of flashing popups being yeeted.
XKit Rewritten - current most up to date "variation "fork" of XKit I think? Has settings in extension settings instead of an extra tumblr button. As long as you get over the new dash layout current tumblr is kinda fine tbh, so this isn't as important as in the past, but still nice. I mostly use it to hide some visual bloat and mark posts on the dash I've already seen.
YouTube NonStop - do you want to punch youtube every time it pauses a video to check if you're still there? This saves your fists.
uBlacklist - blacklists sites from your search results. Obviously has a lot of different uses, but I use it to hide ai generated stuff from image search results. Here's a site list for that.
Redirect AMP to HTML - redirects links from their amp version to the normal version. Amp link is a version of a site made faster and more accessible for phones by Bing/Google. Good in theory, but lets search engines prefer some pages to others (that don't have an amp version), and afaik takes traffic from the original page too. Here's some more reading about why it's an issue, I don't think I can make a good tl;dr on this.
Also since I used this in the tags, here's some reading about enshittification and why the current mainstream internet/services kinda suck.

Social Media Truths: Series 2: How To Protect Yourself Online
Concerns and important notes:
Being careful: one does not need to completely cut social media and the internet form their daily life; if one chooses to engage with social media it will be important to practice safe internet use.[1] This can be done by making informed decisions, which will be discussed below. [2]
False sense of  ‘nothing to hide’: this is a common misconception. It is a widely spread belief that ‘if you have nothing to hide, you do not need to worry about police or government surveillance.’[3] However this suggest that only those who are against mass data collection are ‘at fault.’[4] But this is not the case, because mass data collection will effect even the innocent ; it is a matter or privacy protection and rights for all. [5]
Everyday surveillance: online surveillance can be as invasive as physical surveillance. While online surveillance is less present, it is a part of every day life. [6]
So how does one protect themselves online?
Make informed decisions:
When you sign up for a website make sure it is done with as much information as you can gather. Take the time to study the privacy protection and rights you have provided from the website.[7]
Make informed decisions about the websites you choose to register with, and applications you download onto your phone.[8] Further still, it is important to make informed decisions on the information you choose to share, and who the audience you choose to share it with is.[9]
Making an informed decision:
Studying a website or platform:
Does the website allow you to join from a private network? [10]
Can you block access to certain private information and data collection?[11]
If the website has profile creation: can you make a private profile that is only viewable with your consent? [12]
Is the following information publicly listed without any means making it private: your contact information, home and work address, profile?[13]
Is your online activity logged and made public to other users?[14]
Thinking before posting:
Before creating a post and sharing consider:
Are the pictures or images on your profile appropriate?[15]
Are you comfortable with strangers seeing, or coming across, information on this profile that is publicly available? [16]
Safe media consumption:
Use popup and advertisement blockers.
Use cookie cleaners.
Clean application and internet cache
Install tracking and data collection blockers.
Reflect on what you consider private information: make sure you, and those around you, do not post information online that you do not want public. Reciprocate this respect to family and peers.
Post intentionally: use anonymous accounts, create professional use accounts.
While making sure to take you are using the internet safely, it is also important to monitor your mental health while using social media and the internet. The next post in the series will discuss steps on how you can take care of, and monitor, your mental health.

A while back I finally figured out how to use UBlock's element blocker and promptly went mad with power. Just now I turned off all my extensions to debug something and realized how much more useable it made everything. As soon as I see something annoying I open the Ublock popup, select the element picker, click the annoying thing, and (most of the time) the annoying thing is gone forever and I never have to think about it. So here's my shameless ad pitch for things you can do with it, other than the default "block ads":
Remove all of the UI buttons that are definitely useful for someone but that you're never going to use in your life
Remove UI buttons you use only once, like "register"
Hide the "Posts +" button in tumblr
Clear all of the information your credit card website tries to show you that you don't care about so that you can focus on the couple numbers that you do
Send those pop-up "do you want to chat!" notifications to hell, where they belong
Remove various website overlays
Remove specifically the calorie numbers on food delivery websites
Hide the comments and recommended videos sidebar on youtube
Hide promotions that an adblocker doesn't pick up on because they're native
Hide your facebook newsfeed (if you just use it for chat/events/groups)
Hide discord's sidebar when you just need one channel open and don't want to be distracted, and then unhide it when you want it back
Get rid of distracting moving elements on pages
Hide almost all of the elements on twitter except the actual tweet, if you only interact with twitter via other people's links and don't want to be sucked down the rabbit hole
Generally hide "Related!" or "See also" or "You might like!" type distractions on sites where you only want to see what you came there for, not browse
Remove all of the news from weather websites so that they can actually do their job and show you just the weather
Remove the footer text on websites no one ever reads

Survey #351
“the writing on the wall  /  a psalm of napalm  /  abandon all hope, but try to stay calm”
Do you have bad posture? Oh yeah. Are your eyes sensitive to sunlight? VERY. How many miles can you run without stopping? An astonishing zero miles. Who is the most attractive person you know personally? My high school friend Alon, probably. Have you ever dated someone who was very vastly different from your “type”? No. When was the first time you said "I love you" to a significant other? When I dated my first real boyfriend Jason at 16. I actually said it very early in because I thought I was "supposed" to, and I did REALLY like him. How old were you when you first lived alone? If you’ve never lived alone, how old do you think you’ll be? I haven't yet, and idk. What do you wish you had been better prepared for? Ha, adulthood. Is there anything about you (physically) that you think turns people off of you right off the bat? My weight. Do you know anyone with a semicolon tattoo? I have a semicolon butterfly tattoo on my wrist, and while it's very subtle, my Mark tat features a semicolon, too. It's outlined by a quote he's said ("you are important, never forget that"), and the "i" is a semicolon. Idk if I know anyone else with one. Have you ever overdosed on a drug? Once accidentally, once purposefully. Have you ever kissed a guy you didn’t want to kiss? Yes. Who was the last guy you cuddled with? Girt. What is something you’ve had a toxic reaction to? The breakup with Jason. In the last picture taken of you, how did you pose? I just tilted my head, smiled, and gave a peace sign, haha. Mom wanted to show my sister how I looked with a dozen wires and other shit attached to me for my sleep study. Have you ever made a fake Facebook account? If so, why? No. If you were an Eevee, what would you wanna evolve into? Probably Espeon? They're so, so majestic and beautiful. I'd love to feel like that, lol. What flavor was the last piece of gum you chewed? Raspberry lemonade. Did you ever used to watch the show Teen Titans? Nah. When you were in school/if you are in school, do you actually share your grades with your parents? If you got/get a bad grade, do you hide it from them? My mom always stayed up-to-date with my grades. I never really had anything to hide. Have you ever been the designated driver? Once or twice, yeah. Were you obsessed with Webkinz when they first came out? "Obsessed" is an understatement. I was that kid with dozens upon dozens. They were pretty much my favorite thing. Who do you subscribe to on YouTube, if anybody? Oh Jesus, looooots. Are you wearing nail polish right now? What color? No. Neon colors, or pastel? Pastel. Are you currently pregnant? Do you wish you were/weren’t? I'm not and have zero desire to be. Have you ever had a dog? A good number of them throughout my life. Is there any drama going on right now in your life? No. Does your hair fall out a lot? No. What’s your favourite type of bird? Barn owls. I also love ravens and crows. How many friends do you have on Facebook? 126. What was on the last sandwich you ate? Pb&j. What sort of music did you listen to when you were in high school? The same as I do now: metal and its various subgenres. Have you ever gotten back together with an ex? No. How far away is the closest store to your house and what is it? I'm actually unsure which is the closest. We live in a cul-de-sac with a bunch of houses, and the street opens into just outside the main city, so there's a lot of stores. What is your favourite Thai dish? I've actually never tried Thai food. How many contacts do you have in your phone? Very few, but I don't feel like counting. Are there any candles in your bedroom, and what scent are they? No. What pet names do you use with your significant other? I'm single. Do you have to wear a name badge where you work? I don’t have a job. Can you hear anything right now? Yeah, I'm watching Gab Smolders play Skyrim. It's a game I've always wanted to play myself. Is there anybody else in the room you’re currently in? No. What’s the name of the store you usually get your groceries? Walmart. Does your house have a porch/balcony? It has a very, very small porch. What is your mother’s first name? Donna. Did you have a tree house as a kid? No. Are you afraid of speaking to large audiences? I'm terrified of it. Have you ever cried from being so mad? Oh yeah, it's very common for me to cry when I'm mad. Have you ever taken a bath with someone? As a kid, yes. Do you have any brothers? One older one. Does your family use coasters? Is anyone in your family excessively tidy? No. Do you wear pajamas to places other than at your house? Ha, yeah, just depends on where. Do you take showers in the morning or at night more? Morning. I used to be ALL about night showers, but I just love how refreshing they are in the morning. It's a good start to the day. Do you snore? Steal the covers? Roll around in your sleep? I steal the covers SO bad and roll around a lot. God bless whoever marries me. You see the person you fell hardest for. What do you do? I can guarantee I'd be a total deer in headlights and probably tear up or just straight-up cry. Have you been/are you depressed? It's nowhere near as bad as it was once upon a time, but I honestly am depressed these days. Who is the one person you can completely be yourself around? I only feel entirely "safe" doing that around Sara. Are your popups blocked on your computer? Yeah. Are your parents night owls or morning birds? My mom's a total night owl. She absolutely hates sleeping because it's "such a waste of time" to her, but of course she does it anyway. I haven't lived with my father since I was like 16, so idk what he's really like with this stuff now, but I'd call him an early bird, particularly because his job has him up early anyway. Do you have high blood pressure? No; my blood pressure is actually extremely low, so much so it scares every doctor who hasn't treated me before. It's a medication side effect and seriously sucks, because I am absolutely always light-headed and dizzy. Have you ever pumped gas? No. Are you affectionate? Very. What would a perfect yard look like for you? Hmmm... I'm going to include things I know I won't realistically have for maintenance reasons, but what's ideal. I would loooove love love at least one really big tree with maybe a birdhouse and like a bat box (is that what they're called?), and I'd love tons and tons of flowers to feed bees and other wildlife. A koi pond would be amazing, but that's one of those things I know I won't actually have. A pool would be really nice, preferably inground, and having a spot in the shade would be perfect. Some berry bushes would be cool, and grape vines... Man, I'm really fantasizing now, haha. What is a topic that you have just recently become interested in? Nothing very recently, but I'd say the most recent would be uhhhh tarantulas, though that's been a thing for many months now. What is a feel-good song that you’ve been listening to lately? None lately, anyway. I can tell you "Jump" by Van Halen is the staple "feel-good" song for me, though. What are some things you enjoy seeing pictures of? Meerkats... Mark... more meerkats and Mark... oh also meerkats and Mark... Is there anything you are scared/awkward about talking about in life? Don't talk to me about sex. Has a pet ever stolen food from you as you were eating it? AS I was eating it, no. What is the weirdest compliment you have ever been given? I have no idea. What’s stronger - your upper or lower body? Jesus, I couldn't tell you. I'm just weak, period. Women tend to have more lower body strength, so I GUESS maybe that, but given the fact my legs are horribly weak, I don't know. My arms aren't strong, either. Are you very careful with your technology (phone, laptop, etc) or do you take risks that could damage them? I try to be mindful and careful, but you could say the way I pick up my laptop sometimes is risky. Have you ever been in the newspaper? What for? I think so, as part of my graduating class? But that would be a LOT of people... so I actually don't know. I have this faint memory of being in it with other people, but idr. Would you say that the area you live in is particularly picturesque? Ew, no. What is your favorite type of cat? One does not simply pick ONE favorite kind of cat. I love Persians, Ragdolls, Siamese, sphynxes, bengals, Abyssinians, and I could go on and on. If you had your way, what color(s) would you dye your hair? I have A LOT of colors I want to dye my hair, but the ones I'm currently most interested in are pastel pink, creamsicle orange, and lilac. Do you like seafood? If so, what is your favorite? If not, what is your favorite type of food? I only like shrimp. What religion/spiritual path intrigues you the most, if any? Paganism. It's the one I think is closest to what I believe in, and I just find it all very interesting. I love the nature focus. Would you ever consider getting dreadlocks? Nooooo. How many times is your cartilage pierced in your ears? None anymore. :( I miss all my piercings that closed while hospitalized. Have you ever had a pet bird? Nah. It'd be cool, but I don't want one enough to actually get one. Do you like dinosaurs? I looooove dinos. They were my obsession as a kid. My first dream career was even a paleontologist. Do you like going for long walks with friends? If my legs worked like a healthy fucking human's, I would love to do that again. I would literally collapse if I tried to go on a long walk now. Do you miss anyone from school? I miss a lot of people from school. I'm thankful for Facebook for that, but even that's not enough, really. What is your favorite flavor of Jolly Ranchers? Watermelon, I think? Was there a strawberry one? How are your parents right now? I'm assuming Dad's fine, and Mom's okay, just stressed as she always is. Can you take naps, or does it make you feel horrible? Man, I love naps. They're like, mandatory for my existence, lol. If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a real tree or an artificial tree? A fake one. Have you ever been told you were a good writer? Yeah. Do you watch music videos? No. Do you own an account on Club Penguin? Haha awww, remember the worldwide heartbreak when that site shut down? Anyway, I did as a kid. Do you like lemonade? Sure do. Was your first kiss perfect? To me it was. How do you feel about the first person you kissed? I feel a lot of things about him. As of right now, how do you feel about your future? Nervous. Who is the last person you ran into unexpectedly? *shrugs* Is sex something special, or just for fun? It has to be something special for me personally. Do you follow fashion? If so, why? Not at all. Have you ever played a real pinball machine? No. Do you like the smell of BBQs? I love the smell, but don't like the food. Do wasps scare you? Yes. Are you currently trying to get over someone? I mean, yes and no. I don't think I'll ever be fully over Jason, but I feel like I'm as "over him" as I'll ever be, maybe. I hope I can even further let him go, but we'll just have to see. Have you ever dated someone with longer hair than yours? Yes. Have you ever worn flip flops in the snow? HA, oh yeah. If it's only a dusting, I don't care at all. I pretty much always wear flip flops. How old were you when you met your first love? I was 15. If you could have one more pet, what? JUST one? Probably a Brazilian Black tarantula, ideally. I technically want a western hognose snake more, but given I already have a snake, in this hypothetical situation, I'd take the spider. Would you rather have an owl or a snake? Ha, speaking of snakes. A snake, even though I adore owls. What do you order at Chic-Fil-A? I don't give my business to Chick-fil-A. They're reigned by homophobic, transphobic pieces of shit that have given monetary contributions to anti-LGBT foundations, including most disgustingly those that support conversion therapy. I admittedly looooove their chicken sandwiches, but I just can't in good conscience go there. Have you ever been addicted to cigarettes? No, given I've never smoked and will never. Which do you use more? Facebook or Instagram? Facebook. Did you enjoy your past relationships? Yeah. Do you like '80s music? '80s metal is great. Something you would NEVER buy? Drugs. Have you ever questioned your sexuality? I first questioned if I was bisexual in middle school, 8th grade I think, but I went into denial about it given I was Christian at the time. Looking back, there were many clear signs of me liking girls too, I just didn't notice them until a few years ago when I came out as bi. Do you like Star Wars? No. What is the best thing about life? Experiencing love, both platonic and romantic. Are you superstitious? No. What show/concert have you gone to that you didn’t like much? I haven't experienced a bad concert before, but then again I've only been to one. Is sex a must in your life? Nah. Have you watched porn alone before? I've never watched porn period. I have absolutely no desire to watch two random people go at each other. What do you think about weed? It should be legal everywhere, but treated similarly to alcohol in that there are legal repercussions to doing certain things, like driving, under the influence. There are just too many benefits for many health conditions to ignore. Have you read the entire Bible before? No. I've started to before, but I didn't get far.

Noteworthy PHP Development Tools that a PHP Developer should know in 2021!
Tumblr media
Hypertext Preprocessor, commonly known as PHP, happens to be one of the most widely used server-side scripting languages for developing web applications and websites. Renowned names like Facebook and WordPress are powered by PHP. The reasons for its popularity can be attributed to the following goodies PHP offers:
Open-source and easy-to-use
Comprehensive documentation
Multiple ready-to-use scripts
Strong community support

New framework seems to have performance issues
This version of ABP for the new Safari framework unfortuantely seems to kill performance on my computers. Maybe it’s partially related to them being a bit older (one is a Mid 2011 Mini, the other is a 2012 iMac), but with ABP enabled I can’t even open a new tab/window and type a URL into the bar and expect Safari to accept the input without having to hold down the return key until it goes or wait a minute after opening a new tab or window. I also noticed that using Twitter was jumpy and lagged even with simple typing, it felt like all the dynamic content it relies on was just struggling to be processed through whatever framework Apple is forcing. Hopefully the devloper can figure out the performance issues because it’s really, really bad now.
By Ramblin'Rose
why isn’t this working?
I have ABP and it wasn’t perfect but worked fairly well for my needs. Recently, it simply disappeared. (I see someone else said that could be from the latest iOS update, but I don’t have that on my desktop yet). When I tried to reinstall, it showed me two boxes to check. The way I read it, if you checked the box that said you wanted the icon visible in the toolbar, it would be able to read sensitive information of all kinds on any page. What good is an app of any kind that allows for that?! As it was, with only the one box checked, it only blocked very few ads, and I was still getting requests from sites to be whitelisted without being able to fnd any way to do it. I’ve got all kinds of garage showing up on my Facebook page, and you guys have ruined what was a reasonable product. WHY?
By PeopleRsad
Still works for me
Almost didn’t download the new version based on the recent reviews, however after looking at the other apps here that claim to be ad blockers I didn’t’t see too many alternatives. I decided to go ahead and get the new version and so far its pretty much the same as the old version, lots of ads blocked. I’m happy, just make sure you go through the simple set-up.

Works well but
After much research, I understand the issue with Apple changing the rules on the devs so they had to build this app from scratch. Works well for me so far, except for one annoying problem. I use Yahoo mail and it's not hiding the ad that appears in the top line of the inbox even with unchecking the Acceptable Ads box, which is super annoying. I know the devs are watching these reviews, so if someone can point me to an extension or something that will fix that, I'd appreciate it. Was using AdGuard and it fixed that problem, but that app behaves like spyware and is constantly running in the background even after you close Safari.

[Announce] MultiTab for Reddit
We proudly announce our new app, MultiTab for Reddit. This app is our 6th of our MultiTab app series.
(Notice: from this version, we will rename our app series title from ‘FastFeed’ to 'MultiTab’. We think the new name is a better representation of the app’s features. All the other apps will be released with the new name soon.)
Tumblr media
Reddit was one of the most requested community services that this app series should support. But service structure of Reddit was very different from other SNS. So, we had to spend a lot of time in developing for Reddit. This has far exceeded the planned schedule by 3~4 month. Finally, we have completed the initial release. If you like Reddit and multitab feature, then you will be satisfied with this app.
MultiTab for Reddit has some differences with other series apps.
Card/Grid/Media mode: There is no 'Swipe across center’ to return to Grid in Detail view. Instead, you can select Card/Grid/Media view mode at the tab menu.
Post view popup: The post detail is displayed on popup in fullscreen size. This is intended to help concentrating on post content and comments.
Video player supports ’Auto Play’. This is because Reddit video is served via streaming.
Reddit’s ‘Custom Feeds’ feature will replace FeedSet.
You can download at App Store : https://apps.apple.com/app/id1445986988
We also create a subreddit for this app: https://www.reddit.com/r/MultiTabApp/ We’d appreciate it if you join there and upvote.
Following is an introduction to MultiTab for Reddit.

My Browser Extensions & Userscripts
The browsers I’ve used are Opera (& Opera GX), Firefox, Brave, Google Chrome, Ungoogled Chromium, Microsoft Edge, Vivaldi, and Waterfox. These are the extensions I use on them. For any extensions that have to do with downloading videos, see my Video Downloaders post that includes not just extensions, but also download managers, websites, and more.
Notes for Opera, Brave, Vivaldi, Waterfox, and Ungoogled Chromium:
Opera has it’s own add-on store along with the capability to download Chrome extensions. To download Chrome extensions all you have to do is download this extension.
Brave and Vivaldi don’t have their own add-on stores, but you can download any extensions in the Chrome store like you would in Chrome without having to do anything beforehand.
Waterfox is a fork of FIrefox that works with legacy add-ons and most current Firefox add-ons in the Firefox store. To get legacy add-ons, download the classic archive XPI from GitHub.The legacy add-ons that I use that aren’t usable in Firefox are Simple Add-On Manager (it lets you enable/disable extensions, themes, and plug-ins easily), Chrome Store Foxifed (converts Chrome CRX extensions into Firefox XPI extensions), and BarTab Plus (automatically unloads inactive tabs). For any current Firefox extensions that say they aren’t compatible, you can just got to see version history of the the add-ons in the Firefox store and download an latest older version that is compatible and if none are compatible, check the classic add-ons.
For ungoogled chromium, you have to change chrome://flags/#extension-mime-request-handling to Always Prompt for Install and get the .crx files from sites like crx4chrome or crxextractor.
AdBlocker (ESSENTIAL TO HAVE ONE... Also don’t use AdBlock or AdBlock Plus... Please choose EITHER AdGuard or uBlock Origin)
AdGuard (Available for Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi/Yandex, Opera, Firefox, Edge, & Safari on computer + they also have a free app for Android & iOS [Safari on iPhone & iPad])
AdGuard is my favorite adblocking browser extension. I used to use uBlock Origin + Nano Defender, which are also excellent, but then I discovered AdGuard, which I liked even better and uninstalled those since you shouldn’t use more than one adblocker in your browser. The reason I love AdGuard is because it works while still enabled on sites where you would have to disable uBlock Origin to get the site to work (ie. stream.nbcsports.com, youku.com).
The default settings of AdGuard are already great (just AdGuard base filter enabled), but you can enable even more filter lists and settings for the best browser experience. The ones I enable to block the most ads/annoyances/get the best privacy, while also not breaking sites I use are: AdGuard Base Filter, Peter Lowe’s List, AdGuard Tracking Protection Filter, Easy Privacy, AdGuard Social Media Filter, AdGuard Annoyances Filter, Adblock Warning Removal List, Malware Domains, Spam404, NoCoin Filter List, and Filter unblocking search ads and self-promotion. I also have Phishing & Malware Protection and Stealth Mode (Self Destructing 3rd party cookies with 2880 lifetime, Hide Referrer from third-parties, Hide your search queries, Send Do-Not-Track header, Remove Tracking Parameters) enabled.
Social Media/Enhancers
Good Twitter (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi), Firefox/Waterfox)
Light extensions that change your user agent to Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 9.0; WOW64; Trident/7.0; rv:11.0) on only twitter.com to give you the previous twitter desktop layout back.
Tumblr media
If you have Firefox or Waterfox, you can also change your twitter back without an extension by going to about:config, find the general.useragent.site_specific_overrides setting, right click, choose new string, enter general.useragent.override.twitter.com as the preference name, and Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 9.0; WOW64; Trident/7.0; rv:11.0) as the string value.
New XKit (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox, Safari)
Note: For Firefox there is a version in the Firefox add-ons store, but it is only version 7.8.2 instead of the latest 7.9.0, so I’m linking the github xpi instead. You can just click on the xpi and Firefox should display continue to extension from github, click continue, and then the normal add add-on pop that you get for any extensions should show up and just click add/confirm your installation. If that doesn’t work, you can save the xpi to your computer, go to your Firefox add-ons page, click “install add-on from file”, choose the xpi, and then the normal add-on pop up will appear and you can click add/confirm your installation.
An amazing extension that makes using Tumblr 1000x better and allows you to add Tumblr enhancement extensions to tumblr.com. XInbox, One-Click Postage, One-Click Reply, Tweaks, and XCloud are already installed by default. The other extensions I have installed are Go-To-Dash, Don’t Stretch Photosets, Timestamps, Soft Refresh, Search Likes, Mutual Checker, Find Inactives, Outbox, Post Archiver, Post Limit Checker, Show Picture Size, Activity+, Anti-Capitalism, Drafts+, Mass+, Read More Now, Quick Tags, Reply Viewer, TagViewer, and View on Dash.
Chrome IG Story (Opera/Ungoogled Chromium)
Note: This was originally an extension for Chrome, but got removed from the Chrome web store. I already had it installed from the web store on Chrome and it continued to work even after it was removed. However, you can’t install it for Chrome or Brave or Vivaldi anymore even with the CRX file because it will give you  a “CRX Header Invalid” error. From the site I linked, you can still install it for Opera though by simply clicking "Download from Google CDN” or “Download from Crx4Chrome.” You can also install it on Ungoogled Chromium, if you have chrome://flags/#extension-mime-request-handling set to Always Prompt for Install like I mentioned in the note at the beginning of my post.
An extension that lets you view, download, and get direct URLs for instagram stories and live videos on the web version.
Reddit Enhancement Suite (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox, Waterfox (use version 5.12.8), Edge)
Reddit Enhancement Suite is a suite of tools to enhance your Reddit browsing experience. It includes features such as: - Never Ending Reddit - never click "next page" again! - Inline Image Viewer - adds buttons to view images without leaving the page, including support for imgur albums and more - Keyboard Navigation - browse reddit more efficiently than ever before with keyboard shortcuts for most functionality - Uppers and Downers - see the hidden vote totals that Reddit provides behind the scenes - Account Switcher - switch accounts easily and quickly - User Tagger - keep track of users you run across frequently, complete with color coded tags, etc.
An extension that makes your reddit experience way better. It works best when you use the old reddit (you can opt out of new reddit design in your account or you can just go to old.reddit.com) aka the superior reddit.
Enhancer for YouTube (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox, Edge)
Tons of features to improve your user experience on YouTube™:
✔ Control volume level and playback speed with the mouse wheel   ✔ Remove ads from videos (automatically or on-demand)   ✔ Whitelist channels to not automatically remove their ads   ✔ Remove annotations (automatically or on-demand)   ✔ Automatically play videos in 4K, HD, or any other preferred format   ✔ Loop videos (in part or in whole)   ✔ Use custom themes   ✔ Use a larger video player   ✔ Pin the video player   ✔ Execute your own actions using JavaScript ✔ Disable next video autoplay
Social Fixer (Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox/Waterfox, Safari, Userscript)
Social Fixer for Facebook fixes annoyances, adds features, and enhances existing functionality to make FB more fun and efficient. Filter the news feed, hide sponsored posts and political posts, hide parts of the page you don't want to see, and more!
Thread Reader (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox)
This adds an “Unroll in Thread Reader” option under the arrow with the more options in a tweet, which directly takes you the unrolled thread, making it easier to read twitter threads without having to tweet at the thread reader bot or manually enter URLs on their website.
Userscripts
You can use userscripts by downloading the userscript manager extensions: Tampermonkey (Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox/Waterfox, Edge, Safari) or Violentmonkey (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox).
On Chromium browsers, Waterfox, and  Edge I use Tampermonkey because the AdGuard Popup Blocker only works with Tampermonkey for me and VK Media Downloader still works with it. On Firefox, I use Violentmonkey because VK Media Downloader stopped working for me with Tampermonkey on Firefox on both my Windows 10 and Linux computer. AdGuard Popup Blocker doesn’t work with Violentmonkey for me (or on my Windows 10 computer even with Tampermonkey, though AdGuard Popup Blocker does work with Firefox/Tampermonkey for me on Linux), so I also use Popup Blocker (strict) (Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox, Edge) on Firefox.
The userscripts I use are:
AntiAdware- Remove forced download accelerators, managers, and adware on supported websites
AdGuard Popup Blocker- Blocks popups on all websites
Resize Image On “Open Image In New Tab”- Super useful userscript that automatically opens images in their original/largest size (especially useful for tumblr images from text posts that get cut down to like 500 width, but with this they go back to their original size like 540 or 1280)
AdsByPasser- Skips countdown ads or continue pages or shortened links
Local YouTube Downloader- Shows all direct YouTube googlevideo URLs under each YouTube video
VK Media Downloader- Adds a download button to VK videos and allows you to view or download direct VK video URLs
KissAnime Anti-Adblock Blocker- Removes the cruft, obtrusive advertising and their Anti-Adblock nuisance screen
KissAnime Complete captcha removal- After installing this script you'll probably forget about captchas in Kissanime for good, because it jumps directly to the video without passing by the captcha's page. The only catch is that you'll be using Rapidvideo server as long as this script is activated. (In case you choose a different server you'll have to manually answer the captcha)
Productivity/Usefulness
Extensity (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi)
A LIFESAVER and MUST HAVE extension for anyone who uses a Chromium based browser. It allows you to quickly enable or disable any extensions (so you don’t have to go to your browser extension page and manually enable and disable there), turn on and off all your extensions at once, and create different profiles for which extensions will be enabled or disabled in them. If you’re someone who uses a lot of extensions like me, it’s absolutely essential, especially since some extensions may break some sites and this lets you easily turn them off if they do.
Google Translate (Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox) or Translator for Microsoft Edge
These give you the ability to translate entire pages in the same tab/page just like Google Chrome’s built in feature
PageZipper (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox)
A super useful extension that makes it so pages like photo galleries, articles/slide shows with “next”, forum posts, search page results, comment pages, basically anything with multiple pages, etc. loads all on the same page when you scroll. It’s so convenient to not have to constantly click next and spend time loading new pages. All you have to do to enable the extension is click on the icon in your toolbar (you can tell when it’s on when the icon turns green).
The Great Suspender (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi) or Auto Tab Discard (Firefox)
Extensions that automatically suspend tabs you aren’t using, so they don’t use CPU or memory while they’re open
AutoplayStopper (Chrome/Opera/Vivaldi, also works in Waterfox using Chrome Store Foxified)
Note: Not necessary in Firefox or Brave. In Firefox, you can change media.autoplay.allow-muted and media.autoplay.enabled.user-gestures-needed to false in about:config settings to stop autoplay. As of Firefox 69, Firefox automatically blocks autoplay of both audio and video by default without having to change anything in the about:config settings! :D Brave automatically stops autoplay by default. Both allow you to whitelist sites where blocking autoplay makes videos fail to play. In Waterfox, you can set media.autoplay.enabled to false, but there isn’t a whitelist option and this can break sites, so I prefer to use AutoplayStopper since you can choose to allow autoplay on sites with the extension.
An extension that stops autoplay of HTML 5 and flash videos (you can also allow autoplay if it breaks any sites like rabb.it for example)
Buster: Captcha Solver for Humans (Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox/Waterfox)
Buster is a browser extension which helps you to solve difficult captchas by completing reCAPTCHA audio challenges using speech recognition. Challenges are solved by clicking on the extension button at the bottom of the reCAPTCHA widget.
f*ck overlays (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi) or ffCk Overlays (Firefox)
Right click on any element or overlay in a page and choose “fuck it” to get rid of it
Peek (Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox/Waterfox)
An amazing extension that lets you view downloadable media without having to download it! It works for me to watch mediafire videos without downloading them for example.
Page Cache Archiver (Firefox, Waterfox [use version 1.7.0]) or Wayback Machine (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi)
Page Cache Archiver is the best of the page archiving extensions because it lets you save current pages and get previous archived pages using basically all the archiving sites. It does have a Chromium version, but it’s not nearly as good as the Firefox version, so I only recommend it for Firefox. On Firefox, you see all the options when you right click the extension icon on the toolbar. On Chromium browsers... you can’t see any of the options and when you try to change the action on click it automatically goes back to default settings, so all clicking does is save current pages to archive.is.
Wayback Machine is my preferred archiver extension for Chrome/Brave/Opera. It only uses Wayback Machine, but it allows you to save and get previous archived pages for any site. And if a site has a 404 not found error, it will automatically ask you if you want to find archived versions. You can also choose between the first archived version or the most recent one.
Volume Master (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi)
An extension that lets you adjust the volume for each tab and lets you increase the volume up to 600%. Super useful for any videos with really quiet audio.
User-Agent Switcher and Manager (Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox/Waterfox)
This extension allows you to reliably spoof your browser "User-Agent" string to a custom one. The extension provides a list of all well-known "User-Agent" strings for different browsers and operating systems as follows:
Supported operating systems: Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Chromium OS, Ubuntu, Debian, Android, iOS, AmigaOS, OpenBSD, BeOS, Haiku, Solaris, NetBSD, FreeBSD, Slackware, SUSE, gentoo, Fedora, Gentoo, Mageia, CentOS, Mint, DragonFly, Kubuntu, Mandriva, Zenwalk, Unix, GNU, OS/2, AIX, QNX, BEOS, RISC OS, Symbian, Nintendo, OpenSolaris, Kubuntu
Supported browsers: Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge, WebKit, Avant, Maxthon, Arora, Mozilla, Epiphany, Camino, Chimera, Chromium, Dragon, conkeror, Conkeror, Dillo, Links, Firebird, Swiftfox, Netscape, Flock, iCab, Iceape, icecat, IceCat, IceWeasel, Iron, Meleon, Konqueror, Lunascape, Lynx, MAXTHON, midori, Midori, KHTML, Mosaic, NetSurf, OmniWeb, Tablet, Mini, Phoenix, RockMelt, Safari, Browser, SeaMonkey, Slim, Webkit, w3m
Super useful, especially for Opera. For me, DisneyNow can’t be played on Opera because it will say my browser doesn’t support HLS Streaming, but I just change my user-agent to Chrome with this and then it works perfectly!
Picture-in-Picture (Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi)
Note: Not necessary for Opera or Firefox. Opera already has video pop out enabled by default and Firefox picture in picture can be enabled in about:config settings by changing media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.enabled, media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.video-toggle.enabled, and media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.video-toggle.flyout-enabled to true.
For some video sites in Chrome/Brave (the well known ones like YouTube for example), you can just right click and see picture in picture built in. However, the extension is much better for working on nearly every site. The extension works on rabb.it and DisneyNOW for example, while the built in right click doesn’t. For the extension you just have to click on the icon in your toolbar.
OpenVideo - ad-free streaming (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox)
You can... ...watch every video on the internet without ads or popups (even on sites which block adblockers) ...download every video ...watch every video in theatre mode (useful for annoyingly bright websites with too small video players) ...watch videos over a proxy for more anonymity and to surpass geo-blocking (eg. Indonesia) ...add subtitles easily from url or hard drive ...watch videos again over the library (starts video where you left) How it works: ► when OpenVideo detects a video on your current site, the number of detected videos will be shown on the OpenVideo extension icon ► click the icon to watch these videos without ads or popups The OpenVideo player is automatically used on the following streaming hosts: ► OpenLoad ► FrutStreams (Streamango / Streamcherry / ...) ► RapidVideo ► MyCloud ► Mp4Upload ► Vidoza ► StreamCloud ► Vivo ► VidTo ► SpeedVid ► FlashX ► TheVideo
The Camelizer (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox)
Shows price history while viewing items on Amazon
Absolute Enable Right Click & Copy (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox)
Gets right click and copy and paste to work on sites that disabled it. For any site that blocks right click and/or copy, just click on this extension and enable copy mode and absolute mode. Unnecessary on Chrome/Brave/Opera if you have the feature to block websites copy and right click protections in Browser Plugs Fingerprint Privacy Wall.
Privacy and Security
Privacy Badger (Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox/Waterfox)
Privacy Badger automatically learns to block invisible trackers. Instead of keeping lists of what to block, Privacy Badger learns by watching which domains appear to be tracking you as you browse the Web. Privacy Badger sends the Do Not Track signal with your browsing. If trackers ignore your wishes, your Badger will learn to block them. Privacy Badger starts blocking once it sees the same tracker on three different websites. Besides automatic tracker blocking, Privacy Badger removes outgoing link click tracking on Facebook, Google and Twitter, with more privacy protections on the way.
Privacy Badger is an awesome extension that blocks trackers. For the most part, it doesn’t break sites, but if it does, you can easily just disable it for the site, if you’re not tech savvy. My favorite thing for those that are tech savvy though is you can adjust each individual tracker, so you can enable the one needed to unbreak the site, while still blocking the rest of the trackers.
Decentraleyes (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox)
Protects you against tracking through "free", centralized, content delivery. It prevents a lot of requests from reaching networks like Google Hosted Libraries, and serves local files to keep sites from breaking. Complements regular content blockers.
Excellent privacy extension that has never broken any sites for me
HTTPS Everywhere (Chrome/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox, Waterfox [use version 2019.6.4])
Encrypt the Web! Automatically use HTTPS security on many sites. HTTPS Everywhere is an extension created by EFF and the Tor Project which automatically switches thousands of sites from insecure "http" to secure "https". It will protect you against many forms of surveillance and account hijacking, and some forms of censorship.
NOTE: Unnecessary if you use Brave, since HTTPS Everywhere is already built into Brave’s Shield. Also, for Opera most extensions download fine directly from the Chrome store, but for some reason this one is super buggy and doesn’t work for me a lot. But downloading from CRX4Chrome or CRX Extractor works fine for me.
Another privacy extension that has never broken any sites for me :)
Cookie AutoDelete (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox, Waterfox [use version 2.2.0])
Automatically deletes cookies from closed tabs or windows and lets you whitelist sites to keep cookies on, so you don’t have to constantly log back in and out
NoScript (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox, Waterfox [use version 5.1.8.4 through Classic Add-Ons Archive])
Note: You should only use this if you’re willing for a lot of websites to break because it disables javascript on all sites by default. You have to enable the scripts on a page to get the pages working yourself. I love this because it allows me to have only the scripts necessary for the website to work running, while all the other scripts get blocked.
I don’t care about cookies (Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox/Waterfox)
Allows only cookies necessary for the page to work and gets rid of annoying cookie notices on websites
CanvasBlocker (Firefox/Waterfox) or Canvas Fingerprint Defender (Chrome/Opera/Vivaldi)
Note: Unnecessary on Brave, since Brave Shield has the option to block 3rd party fingerprinting or all fingerprinting. In Brave, you can also change the settings per site in the shield to all device recognition allowed, if it breaks a specific site.
Fakes canvas fingerprint value to protect you from sites trying to fingerprint you
Browser Plugs Fingerprint Privacy Wall (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi)
Privacy extension that blocks font fingerprinting, webGL fingerprinting, can remove right click or copy restrictions, etc. There’s also a white list, if any sites get broken (for me I had to add youku, discord, and dailymotion to the white list to unbreak them).
minerBlock (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox)
Blocks cryptominers, which is very useful when visiting torrent sites
CSS Exfill Protection (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox)
Guard your browser against CSS Exfil attacks! CSS Exfil is a method attackers can use to steal data from web pages using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). This plugin sanitizes and blocks any CSS rules which may be designed to steal data.
ClearURLs (Chrome/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi, Firefox/Waterfox)
Removes tracking and other extra unnecessary parameters from URLs using around 130 rules
Don’t touch my tabs (rel=noopener) [Firefox/Waterfox]
Prevent tabs opened by a hyperlink from hijacking the previous tab by adding the rel=noopener attribute to all hyperlinks (excluding same-domain hyperlinks).
Privacy Oriented Origin Policy (Firefox, Waterfox [use version 0.3.0])
Prevent Firefox from sending Origin headers when they are least likely to be necessary, to protect your privacy.

Hey all,Just wanted to add a little preface to this post with some context. My colleague James just wrote a massive piece detailing everything we did to drive a ton of sales from a recent webinar.Unfortunately, James is a big-time lurker, and doesn't have the karma to share it with you. But I do!I've read through this a few times myself and I think he's done a really impressive job in giving you a look behind the scenes when it comes to our webinar strategy.I hope you find this useful! And please, feel free to reach out to me here or on social (not sure if I'm allowed to post it, so I'll hold off) if you have any questions about running your own webinars.P.S. There a quite a few (useful!) images in this article. If you don't already have RES, I'd recommend you go get it. :-)So this is the closest thing I've ever had to something worthwhile to put in this community.I'm head of inbound marketing for a tech startup in Vancouver, Canada, and 4 weeks ago our team met to discuss how we planned to meet our growth goals for Q4.One of the main things we talked about was webinars.I've always enjoyed the sound of my own voice, so I thought I'd give it a go.The webinar we ran, after a lot of trial and error, has driven more than 11k in sales, and I wanted to share how we did it. Not sure if /r/Entrepreneur will take the whole piece, so I may have to link at the bottom.Basically, this covers everything we did in the 4 weeks before going live with my webinar, "How to Increase Sales This Black Friday & Cyber Monday."4 weeks before the webinarWe started with a brainstorming session. Here's the questions we asked:1. What will our target market be interested in learning more about?- A webinar on Justin Bieber may get people to register, but those people wouldn't be particularly interested in buying your email software after the fact.2. What subject is related enough to your business that an offer related to it would be desirable?- Your target market may care about sales optimization, but if your business sells Wordpress themes, your post-webinar offer won't get a lot of interest.3. What do I know about? What am I a genuine expert in?- This one goes without saying. You are the primary reason people register. You need to have a demonstrable expertise in your webinar's subject matter to get them in the door.4. Can this topic be visually-represented? Does it have visual elements?- You talking without a slidedeck or screen capture gets boring fast. Choose a topic which engages your attendees visually.5. Will this topic stand out from the crowd in some way?- You're not the only business or marketer running webinars. Tie your topic into a current event, or put a spin on it (original research, perhaps) which helps you stand out from competitors. After throwing a bunch of ideas up on the board, we landed on one which we felt ticked all these boxes: Black Friday sales strategies: timely, interesting to our target market, and delivering strategies which attendees wouldn't have seen before. And, as important as any of those, this topic gives Wishpond the opportunity to show off the value of our software to prospective customers. The next step was planning:For project management, we use Asana. It allows us to see exactly who's responsible for each task, when that task is due, and (most importantly) to leave little notes for each other - some of which are even relevant to the task! Here's what the Black Friday webinar plan looked like:https://www.wishpond.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/10/Asana-plan.pngThis calendar dictated our responsibilities for the next few weeks. At this point the Wishpond marketing team separated to divide and conquer.Takeaway:Dividing and conquering is the only way to create a complete webinar campaign. There's so much to do. Get your team together and assign responsibilities, and use Asana (or a similar project management tool) to organize it all.3 Weeks Before Going LiveHere's what we needed to accomplish three weeks out:Step 1: Complete the webinar landing page (needs to be done before we can start sending traffic)Step 2: Send a mailout to existing contactsStep 3: Research and decide on a webinar platformStep 4: Complete the website additions to direct visitors to the webinar landing pageStep 5: Complete and launch Facebook AdsStep 1: Create the webinar landing pageWishpond makes the creation of landing pages easy, and we're lucky enough to work for Wishpond. So building a campaign page for our webinar was relatively straightforward. That said, it does help to have Carlo (a graphic designer before I stole him for the marketing team) on hand…Here's the page he designed:https://www.wishpond.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/10/webinar-landing-page.pngThere are a few essentials here, which we made sure to include:The form: You should collect exactly the information you need, and nothing more. More fields will reduce conversion rate. Fewer fields, and you won't be able to personalize your follow-up emails. The countdown timer: Countdown timers increase urgency, and have shown to increase webinar landing page registration rates significantly. Wishpond's editor enables you to drag-and-drop a countdown timer just like this one.The "About your Host" section: You need to prove that you, or whoever is hosting your webinar, is an expert on their subject. "Why should I listen to this person for 40 minutes?" is a pretty serious question you need to answer. The "What you'll learn" section: After all, people need to know exactly what they stand to benefit from your webinar. Don't hide this.Step 2: Send a mailout to existing contactsThis was pretty standard. It looked like this:https://www.wishpond.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/10/black-friday-newsletter.pngSince running this webinar, I've read more about incentivized referrals - basically, rewarding people when they share your brand or your promotion.Step 3: Research and decide on a webinar platformWe needed a webinar platform which worked well, looked great, and connected easily with our other tools.I'm part of a few marketing communities on Facebook, and a timely question from one of the other members was super helpful here:https://www.wishpond.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/10/webinar-software.pngDemio. It came up several timesSo we looked into it, and absolutely love the platform. It's clean, affordable and the UX is awesome. I won't wax on about it, but yeah, it's a really solid tool. Check them out.Takeaway:You're not alone. If you have a question about anything to do with setting up a webinar (or marketing in general) there are thousands of marketers willing to answer. Check out Quora and Facebook communities.Step 4: Create website additions to drive people to your landing pageThis, like the landing page, is Carlo's wheelhouse.Website additions, like popups and welcome mats, are an awesome way to drive your website traffic to register for your webinar. He created a popup for the Wishpond blog as well as a welcome mat. However, we didn't end up using the welcome mat, as we determined it could hurt our website conversion rates).TakeawayDon't be afraid to kill your darlings. Creating these website additions took Carlo about half an hour. Having a tool like Wishpond makes it super simple, which means it's okay when plans change. If he'd committed a full day to creating and coding a custom welcome mat, we would have had a harder time throwing it in the trash.Step 5: Create and launch Facebook AdsThis was a mistake. We created the ad designs and messaging, created tests and launched nine Facebook ads. Then we sat back and watched. And the cost per registrant just kept going up.We paused the campaign, created new designs and re-launched. But we couldn't make it work. When we couldn't get below $35/registrant, we had to stop. We'd driven 11 registrants for $400.At our customer value, this wasn't profitable. If we're paying $35/registrant, and only 10% of registrants book a demo after the webinar, and our demos have a 25% subscription rate, we'd need a customer value of $1,400 to make it break even. And we don't have that quite yet.TakeawayIt could be our target market (marketers are notoriously expensive), but my thoughts are that you'll get more bang for your buck if you ignore ads and, instead, get webinar registrants from your website traffic or past customers (i.e. popups and newsletter mailouts).Have you made Facebook ads work for webinars in the past? How?2 Weeks Before Going LiveTwo weeks before going live, we needed to wrap up a couple things:Step 1: Compete the slidedeckStep 2: Write the post-webinar email seriesStep 3: Write the reminder emailsStep 1: Complete the slidedeckI use Google Presentation for every presentation I do. The platform is super simple, and I love the ability to share, co-edit, and add seamless transitions.TakeawayThere are a few things to remember when building your webinar slidedeck:- Include less text than you think. Honestly, go back over your slidedeck a few times and remove text. If you need text prompts, write out notes. Don't ask your webinar attendees to read while you talk.- Add transitions. This is especially relevant between paragraphs and lists. Show only one idea at a time.- Make your images as large as possible. You never know what resolution or screen your attendees are going to be on. Don't bank on them being able to see what you're talking about. Err on the side of massive.Step 2: Write the post-webinar email seriesOnce your webinar is over, you'll need to have a strategy in place to turn registrants into customers. We've found (in other campaigns) that a 3 or 4-email series is the best way to do that.Sent automatically, a real person will get involved as soon as someone replies to the email. Other than that it's completely automatic. Here are templates similar to the three emails we wrote:Email 1: Post-webinar essential infoThank you so much for a successful webinar!Even if you didn't attend, I wanted to send you the recording/slidedeck.Exclusive to webinar registrants, I'd like to give you a [X%] discount to [Your Business] until the end of the month. If you have any questions about anything in the webinar, let me know!Email #2: Webinar follow-upWanted to make sure you received my last email? We're offering a [X%] discount exclusively to webinar attendees until the end of the month, and I didn't want you to miss out!Let me know if you have any questions! Email #3: Won't keep bothering you I won't keep bothering you, as I haven't received a response and I don't want to clutter up your inbox.I did want to send you one last thing. This [resource related to the webinar content], which can [concrete positive outcome].I'm always here if you have questions about [webinar content]!Step 3: Write the reminder emailsThe biggest barrier between a profitable webinar strategy and a failed one isn't the design of the page or the content of the webinar, it's attendance. On average, only 25-50% of your webinar registrants (those people you've worked so hard to get) will show up on the day.So I put serious time into writing 4 reminder emails:An auto-responderA "24-hours remaining" emailA "1 hour remaining" emailA "15-minutes remaining" email1. Auto-responder emailImportant webinar informationHi [First_Name]Thanks for registering for [Webinar Name]!Webinar Details:Name of WebinarDate:Time:I'm excited for the big day, and can't wait to share the strategies we've used to [achieve concrete, positive result].To make sure you don't miss it, use this link to add the webinar to your Google calendar:And be sure your friends don't miss it! Share with your network and get a free Starbucks coffee on me, to drink during the webinar! - [Link]Looking forward to it!To add "Add to Google Calendar" links to your emails, check out this url generator.2. A "24-hours remaining" email:Subject Line: Only 24 hours left!Hi [First_Name]Only 24 hours before we get rolling with [Webinar Name]!Can't wait to see you there at [time].If you haven't already, be sure to share the webinar your friends to get a free Starbucks coffee on me, to drink during the webinar! - [Link]Cheers! To send your registrants a free coffee from Starbucks (which is more than worth it, believe me), check out the Starbucks website.3. A "1 hour remaining" email:Subject Line: [Webinar Reminder]: 1 hour left to get your free coffeeHi [First_Name]We're going live with [Webinar Name] in about 55 minutes!Log in to the webinar waiting room using this link:And you still have time to earn that free Starbucks coffee by sharing this link with your friends: .Only by attending will you get my exclusive [secret strategy] which won't be in the recording! Can't wait to see you there! That's a bit of a gamble, that last sentence. Whether you do want to hold back something exclusively for attendees is entirely up to you. My recommendation would be to test it. Do you get more people to attend (and buy from you) if you do hold something back, or do you get more if you record the whole webinar and send it to all your registrants?4. A "15-minutes remaining" email:Subject Line: [Webinar Reminder]: 15 minutes leftHi thereStart settling in!We'll be going live in about 15 minutes.Grab your coffee and log in to the waiting room by clicking this link: .Can't wait to see you there!I will give you some strategies below for how you can still turn registrants into customers, even if they don't attend your webinar.Week of the WebinarThe week of the webinar was all about setup and rehearsal. We also sent another mailout to everyone who hadn't opened the previous one (didn't want to bother people who had already registered), but I've already covered that. This section will cover the essential steps you need to take the week of the webinar and on the day itself.Step 1: RehearsingI scheduled two full-length rehearsal webinars for the Monday and the Wednesday before going live on Thursday morning. I invited (of course) Carlo and Mateus, but also Ali (our CEO) and a few people from sales. I wanted insight from as many different people as possible.Rehearsal of your webinar does several essential things:Allows you to get a feeling for how long you should be talkingAllows you to record yourself, to see where you're weak and where you're strongAllows your colleagues to give notesGives you confidence in your subject matter and your webinar content Rehearsing is huge. Don't even attempt a professional webinar until you've done the entire thing (with recording) at least a couple times.Step 2: ModeratingNot only do moderators give you that extra little "this is professional" kick, they are also super helpful. My colleagues Carlo and Mateus both acted as moderators during my webinar.Moderators do a number of essential things:Moderate: As in, they kick out anyone who's spamming or trolling the comment sectionProvide relevant links: If you mention your Twitter handle, email address or a demo link, your moderators can put it in the comment section for attendees.Collate questions for the Q&A: Rather than you having to scroll through all the comments at the end of the webinar, have your moderators put all the questions in one place. Then you can answer them more smoothly.Top Tip:This is a bit cheeky, but everybody does it. If there's some information you'd really like to share with attendees but you don't want to appear too salesy, have your moderators "ask" some pointed questions as if they were attendees. For instance, in my last webinar I had a total stranger/my colleague ask "How do we book a demo, again?" as well as "What software do you recommend we use to create the website popups you showed us?"Step 3: Giving people time to arriveOnce I went live, I introduced myself and told everyone how excited I was to start the webinar. Then, and this is crucial, I gave attendees a couple minutes to arrive. My webinar started at 10am. I went live at 10:02 (intentionally) and told everyone I'd get rolling at 10:05. This gave latecomers time to enter the webinar.Have you ever turned channels to find a movie which started 10 minutes ago? You've missed the beginning, which is everything. You can spend the next 2 hours wondering "Wait, who's that guy? Is that the main character or the bad guy? What's he trying to do?" What's the chance you'll stick with that movie?Webinars are no different. A big part of keeping people to the end of your webinar is ensuring they're there when you start. Give them some time.Final thoughtsSo there you have it: the exact strategy we used for our most recent webinar."How to Get More Sales This Black Friday and Cyber Monday" drove 524 leads, 115 of them new to Wishpond. Those leads have turned into over $11,000 in sales, and the follow-up emails are still going out.I'm super happy with how this went. It was nerve-wracking and I was sweating the whole time, but it was exhilarating and fun, nonetheless.I really hope you give webinars a shot, and let me know if you do!If you want to see the original post in its fully-formatted glory, just click here: https://blog.wishpond.com/post/115675437738/guide-to-webinars

Ads and our internet
The internet is literally full of ads now. Youtube got ads, popups and permission to use the app or brower comes up on like EVERY page, hulu got them, even the ubers got em.  theres more ads on phones than on the TV and its annoying as fuck.
We even have to pay to get ads removed from apps that we actually like and i know that it’s so the developers can make money, but weren’t they making money like 10 years ago before all this shit got outta hand? The ads bombard all day, some install apps onto your phone that hide in your device so they’re even harder to delete. its just fucking annoying all the way around. Facebook and Insta make ads tailored to what you’re searching for online because they collect all your data. They then try and sell you the very shit that you just looked at in every ad space available on the page.
Its no surprise that app developers would start developing ads offering to pay us just to use their app and watch the crappy and mostly fake ads.
How many of these sites are legit though?
