3. ITMF: I'm very, very picky about modern aus but figured I'd give it a try. I want a modern au where they're already adults, it's angsty, and they're in character. My fave is when the angst kind of mirrors canonverse (ie WWX being "disowned," framed for something or disappearing, miscommunication, whatever so long as it isn't kind of just random melodrama) but I'll also just accept if the angst is in a breaking up -> getting back together/exes to lovers arc. Some random headcanons I have for a Silm modern AU:

Feanor is the son of Finwe's ex-wife Miriel (they split more or less amicably due to the more kids/no more kids thing). There are more resources to help deal with this than in canon Valinor, so while Feanor isn't happy about the Indis and half-siblings situation, he's able to get to a place of mostly getting along with them.

Finwe made his money in investments--Aule Industries, Elentari Electric Co., Sulimo Aerospace...you get the picture.

Feanor could have gone to work for Aule Industries, but instead he struck out on his own as an inventor, and holds patents for several now-common items.

He's married to the famous sculptor Nerdanel. They've had their disagreements, but they're in couples therapy and working on sticking together.

Fingolfin is a state-level politician. He and Feanor mostly sort of get along provided everyone avoids certain topics.

Maedhros works for Fingolfin as a political fixer, which he is very very good at. Feanor has mostly made his peace with this.

Maglor went through a classical musical education, but eventually his hobby band Noldolante took off to the point that he went full-time with it. He's the lead vocalist and songwriter. Currently thinking their sound would be something like heavy metal but with the instruments and volume of acoustic folk.

Their musical rivals are the folk duo Nightingale Shadow, the brother-sister pair Daeron and Luthien Gray.

Celegorm got a job through his grandfather's friend Orome Aldaron at Aldaron LLC, an outdoor gear company resembling Cabela's, as a spokesperson/sponsored rep type of thing. He has a huge dog and tells a different story every time someone asks where he got him, and keeps trying to ask out Luthien from Nightingale Shadow (which drives Maglor nuts).

Caranthir is a stocks trader and financial advisor, which has made him wealthy enough on his own to rival Finwe. At some point, he announces his engagement (despite no one in the family knowing he was dating) to a small business owner named Haleth who takes none of his guff.

Curufin works with his father as a fellow inventor. He married an epidemiologist several years back, and they have a small son, Tyelpe, who is already being brought to an unbelievable number of "take your child to work" days. Everyone's bracing for the mad science to reach critical mass once Tyelpe's old enough to wield a screwdriver.

Amrod and Amras are still in high school and haven't confirmed a path in life yet, although they do quite a bit of Celegorm's social media stuff with him.

Fingon used to work with his father and Maedhros, but eventually decided that politics wasn't for him, and now runs a nonprofit to aid disaster victims. He and Maedhros frequently tease each other about how exhausted their respective careers are making them.

Turgon works in some capacity for the city government, which he claims is the level of politics where things actually get done.

Aredhel also works for Aldaron LLC as a spokesperson; sometimes she and Celegorm will collaborate on posts.

At some point, she starts a relationship with a guy named Eol, but leaves him when he turns out to be a controlling jerk. Post-breakup, she finds out she's pregnant, and ends up keeping the baby because Eol doesn't want her to do so and make him pay child support. She turns out a better mom than anyone expects.

Finarfin is some kind of lawyer working in conflict resolution and mediation. He is very good at it; he ought to be, given all the practice he's had.

Finrod owns an ethically sourced jewelry company. His brother Orodreth works for him.

Aegnor and Angrod are college students; Angrod is undeclared, but Aegnor is studying anthropology.

Artanis is in high school and the most politically minded teenager ever. She's in student government and on the debate team and Model UN, you name it. The family used to joke that someday she was going to rule a small country. They still say it, but it's become less and less of a joke over the years.

Wondering on the thought of jack and Joseph being twin brothers? Both being very close and protective of each other and there partners

That's really cute to imagine Jack and Joseph having a good wholesome sibling relationship. It's a strong contrast to a lot of images where Jack and Joseph are at odds, including this awesome non-canon animatic by Sauce.

Now it makes me think of everyone who has a reincarnated lovers plotline with their MC to have them be twins in this sort of AU as well to pair up with Jack and Joseph. For me, that means Alice and Mary would be twin sisters.

Of course this would have a lot of implications about the timeline. Is this an AU that takes place in the past, or the present? I lean towards the latter for simplicity's sake. I also lean towards keeping Mary and Joseph as childhood friends-to-lovers like in her backstory that might or might not become canon for Sunshine in Hell. (I'm still on the fence about the reincarnated lovers storyline. I'm weak to it, but also to Jack never finding love until he meets Alice.)

Well, I've never been one to shy away from self-indulgence. In this modern twin AU, Jack and Joseph get to be childhood friends with Mary and Alice.

Of course... Ian will be a childhood friend too, but Jack and Joseph, always having each other's backs, aren't going to let Ian or anyone else get together with Alice or Mary before they do.

Then again, with how Mary confessed first to Joseph early on, even before high school, Ian would've probably never had a chance to even crush on her, or at least have the guts to act on it.

That would be an interesting bit of drama - Mary and Alice having crushes on Joseph and Jack respectively, as well as vice-versa. Mary makes a move... and Alice feels it'd be too weird for her to do anything with Jack now. Doesn't say anything about it to even her twin, not wanting to wreck things when Mary is so happy with Joseph.

It's a funny reversal really for Joseph to find love before Jack. I mean, thematically it would be more appropriate if it was the reverse, with Jack and Alice getting together first, but this is a funny AU so let's just have fun with it!

This leads to a fun bit of a love triangle, since why not? Ian is crushing on Alice, and so is Jack. They're her friends and Joseph tries to help Jack get together with Alice as well as run interference with Ian. Wacky hijinx ensue!

Speaking of childhood friend AUs, I remember one where Shaun was a childhood friend of MC, which Sauce drew on their old twitter. That would be hilarious if he was also in the mix, adding to the chaos. Nick would have to be added too in order not to leave him out.

Hmm... maybe that's something to consider another time. I'm already making this ramble too complicated as it is.

Anyway, Jack is more sly and sneaky, though very earnest in his feelings towards Alice and wanting her to be happy. He keeps trying to set up romantic moods, wanting to nudge her into seeing him romantically since he knows from being her friend that she's not comfortable with someone just hitting on her. Subtle flirting, plus arranging them to find themselves alone... only for stuff to happen to interrupt them comedically.

It'd be hilarious that Jack is having so much trouble getting together with his sunshine, things going wrong in a wacky sitcom fashion... and meanwhile Joseph and Mary are off in their own little lovey dovey world being all cute and quietly romantic.

Jack, naturally, would both be happy for his bro, but also madly jealous until he finally gets together with Alice.

Of course, this could lead to friendly ribbing from Joseph towards Jack for his struggles, but also plenty of wholesome moments of comforting and helping him out. After all, if their parents are as awful as it's implied Joseph's are in the consultant transcript...

Oh, other twin details! Jack and Joseph could be identical twins - brown hair and all - but Jack just starts dying his hair blue. Alice and Mary would be fraternal twins, with Alice having albinism and Mary not, along with a few other smaller differences between the two girls, similar to how their different incarnations have slight physical differences. For one thing, Mary is taller than Alice, though not by much. They're both still much smaller than Jack and Joseph.

Hmm... bullying seems to be a pretty big part of the backstory of Joseph, and it's also a big part of Alice and Mary's backstories. With Jack and Joseph being a team, they probably get into trouble together, defending each other, and of course their friends.

Huh. Ian would probably be counted in that if they were all childhood friends, when I think about it. I mean, before romance factors into thing, I think Ian and Jack/Joseph could've been friends. That would make Ian crushing on Alice later more complicated if Joseph and Jack both see Ian as a friend. This would especially be difficult on them if they have very few people who care about them like Joseph did in his childhood.

This does add a bit of added spice to the mix. Jack and Joseph might have some yandere tendencies, but they're possessive and protective of those they care for. If Ian is one they care for too, even just platonically, yet he's a threat... that adds in more difficulty for Jack getting together with Alice.

Though, really, I think Jack is going to wind up getting together with Alice in the end. This is both because Jack and Alice just fit together a bit better than Alice does with Ian... and I am shamelessly biased towards my OTP. Sorry Ian, them's the breaks.

Positive side though is that Ian and Alice won't go through a toxic relationship and a messy breakup first. They can just stay good friends and not have things get so twisted between them.

Of course... that does still mean there would be moments of Jack feeling jealous since Alice is still good friends with Ian. A bit more comedic drama even after the romance begins for Alice and Jack... until it gets spicy when Jack has to mark his territory and leave kiss marks very visible on Alice so Ian and everyone else know she's with him.

Really, there's so many directions I could take this twin idea, and a lot I could build onto this sort of backstory. It's definitely a much lighter AU than most of my other ones too, but I tend to skew towards sweet and fluffy whenever possible, hahaha.

An AU where Hikage, Banjo, and En are idols or in a band. I just think it would be funny. Thank you!

I went a little off prompt, but they're all still in the music industry (which I know nothing about).

Banjo is a country singer. A good one who goes by the stage name of Lariat. Unfortunately, he's not very successful and had to pick up a second job to be able to eat, but he still enjoyed performing. But he's having some writer's block while trying to come up with a new song. He decides to take a break and visit his rural home town where he runs into the quiet kid from high school, Hikage Shinomori. After a bit of catching up (Hikage works on a farm now) he asks if he wants to help him write a song. No mystical feeling or anything, he was just desperate. Hikage is surprised, but agrees on the condition that Banjo doesn't tell anyone he helped write it, not wanting the spotlight. Banjo agrees.

A little later, he hears about some talent scouts for a big music company and decides to audition. There, he performs one of the songs he and Hikage wrote and they love it! He's finally gotten his big break!! He calls and tells Hikage the news who's very happy for his friend. But Banjo feels guilty that Hikage isn't getting anything and asks if he's sure he doesn't want anything. Hikage hesitates, but eventually tells him that he would like to partner up with him as his official songwriter but doesn't want his real name and face out there. Blah, blah, blah, legal stuff, and Hikage gets to help him write songs, but he does so under a fake name and never shows his face to the public.

Banjo becomes one of the most popular country singers in the country. Meanwhile, En is also trying his hardest to get noticed, going by the stage name of Gaen, but he's more on the techno side of things. Banjo heard his demo and, while that's not his forte, he sent it to some people and En became a hit. He later realized it was Banjo who helped him and tracked him down at a party to thank him and they became friends despite their difference in genre.

En still wants to do something to thank him and asks about making a song together. Banjo and Hikage don't have a problem, but unfortunately, their employers do. You see, AFO and Yoichi each own a different company. Yoichi owns the one Banjo and Hikage work for, while AFO owns the one En works for. They each started their companies to spite the other and have one very important rule stated in every contract: No working with the other company. In fact, the two brothers haven't spoken to each other in years after a falling out years ago.

They decide to try and get Yoichi to break the silence first since he's not as scary and get the story of what happened. It all started in high school. AFO was student council president who was rumored to have done some shady stuff for the position while Yoichi was president of the anime/manga club. Kudou and his friend Bruce had a band, and they were actually good, but no one took them seriously because they also had a bit of a delinquent reputation. Well, Yoichi fell in love with Kudou and his brother was not happy about it. AFO went all "You'll never last." "You're too good for him." "He'll probably get arrested for posession of drugs. And maybe even take you with him" "Look at that tattoo!" (He said all this when Yoichi brought him over for dinner). Sometime after they turned 18 and were looking at colleges, Yoichi mentioned trying to get into the same college Kudou was, which is what got them into a huge argument where things got out of hand. Yoichi ended up moving in with Kudou's family and AFO didn't do anything to bring him back, certain that they wouldn't last a year and Yoichi would come back on his own. They got married six months later, and AFO made a huge scene at the wedding where they got into another argument, which is what led to them not speaking to each other. Yoichi actually does want to see his brother again, but pride and fear have gotten in the way.

Of course, when AFO is asked, he'll go on about the delinquent who stole his brother away, which they all know isn't true since they met Kudou and he's actually a really nice guy. They're stumped and about to give up, when a chance opportunity comes in the form of AFOs son. Izuku is a huge fan of All Might, who works for Yoichi's company and says he'll convince his dad to talk to his uncle if they can get him All Might's autograph. And they all have to give him an autograph too. Yes Hikage, you too.

You'd think it would be an epic journey that takes 30 minutes of the movie, but All Might's a nice guy who just happens to be really busy. So, all Lariat has to do is call him and explain the situation and he comes right over. Turns out, he always really wanted to do a song with the famous Seven (aka Nana Shimura) who works for AFO, so not only does he give an autograph, but actually does what's basically a mini-interview with how many questions Izuku is asking.

Within a week AFO and Yoichi have made up. More stuff happens between them, but the important thing is that Lariat and Gaen can finally collab and Izuku gets VIP tickets to the next All Might concert.

Bonus: Bruce was the one who dragged AFO out of the wedding by socking him in the stomach so hard he flew back and banged his head on a table. He felt a weird sense of satisfaction for that. Almost like he had gotten back at him for something...

edit: i realized this said plot arc and astrid's character arc doesn't rlly count but for plot arc: hiccup & snotlout's arc of learning to respect each other more in riders/defenders of berk. basically the screaming death arc!!

astrid's in the first movie... it's near perfect and her role in the story is so vital bc her mind being changed makes stoick's mind being changed so much more believable. astrid's arc is such an interesting throughline to see the movie through. astrid being the most viking like of the teens and taking everything so seriously only to decide to give hiccup a chance (yes she was hanging off a tree rlly high off the ground and then only apologized bc toothless was whipping her around as payback for her attitude lol) but once toothless calms down that's when astrid rlly sits back and gives toothless & hiccup a chance & you just. see her relaxed for the first time in the movie and smiling so wide and it's SOOOOOOO. i love her so much.

Okay...this one is short but so sweet 🥺 not quite what you asked but close enough!

"Oh my god." Jimin groans, before flopping onto the bed beside you. Giggling at the tiredness in his voice, you reach over and pat him in a consoling manner.

"They finally out?"

The two of you had a five-year-old girl and three-year-old twin boys, which made for an interesting bedtime every night. No-eul was usually easy to get to sleep, but Seung-min and Seung-jae were twin tornadoes and they made bedtime a battle. Especially if one of them was in a mood.

"Remember when we were younger, and like...could just go to sleep whenever we felt like it?" Jimin asks, his voice slightly muffled but still audible. Just from that, you know the answer to your question was definitely 'yes'.

"Yeah, those were the days. And being able to eat dinner without it ending up on the floor...leaving the house within two minutes instead of twenty minutes..."

"Being able to walk through a room without almost killing yourself tripping over LEGO, go food shopping without having a heart attack when you lose a child." Jimin finishes, turning his head until he's looking at you. There's dark bags under his eyes, and you just know that there's similar bags under your own eyes.

Putting your bookmark into the book you were reading, you carefully place it onto your bedside table before rolling to your side to face him. Pushing your hands between your pillows, you take a moment to look him over.

You'd first met Park Jimin in your freshman year of high school, when the two of you had been only fourteen-years-old. He'd been short and a little pudgy back then, though you hadn't been much better. The two of you had started dating when you were fifteen, making you bona-fide high-school sweethearts. You'd watched him grow up over the years, from getting taller to getting in-shape when he discovered the gym, the way he grew into his face and developed a sharp jaw line that was softened by his round cheeks and plush lips.

Sixteen years. That was how long you'd been together, with four of those years spent happily married. You'd both defied the expectations of everyone around in staying together, and you were both still as in love as when you were teenagers. But where you'd both been driven by lust and passion (and hormones) as teenagers, that fire had mellowed out to mutual trust, love and affection.

You trusted him with your life and the lives of the three precious children you'd brought into the world, and he trusted you just as much.

The signs of youth had disappeared with time, and the Jimin before you was older both mentally and physically. Instead of puppy fat, he had laugh lines at the corners of his eyes from years of joy and happiness alongside the very first grey hairs that were starting to appear in his thick head of hair (as much as he liked to claim otherwise). And you loved this Jimin just as much as the one you'd started dating.

"Worth it, though." You whisper into the comfortable quietness of the bedroom.

Jimin smiles slightly, the apples of his cheeks rising and causing his eyes to narrow slightly in that ever so familiar movement.

"Every minute of it."

Here are more thoughts from the Siblings Au stuff

It's about time I. Talked about the Thieves all meeting up. Most of this au is just happy family times but, they do all get ot be friends

Starting with Haru, Makoto, and Goro, in their first year at Shujin.

Makoto and Goro head in together, both unwilling to admit they're happy to be in the same class, and wind up sitting halfway back, near a rather shy looking student. It takes a week for them to really start talking, but, Haru considers the two friends. Well, one more than the other

There would be a funny ongoing bit that their classmates are convinced Goro and Makoto are twins. Yeah they have different family names but maybe it was a separated at birth thing? There's a mini conspiracy about them

If you've been around my blog for a while you probably can guess where this will end up. Spoiler alert, by the end of their first year, Goro will be third wheeling for study sessions.

Haru falls first, Makoto falls harder. Makoto is over at the Sakura residence more because it's less chaotic, and gradually earns the trust of a very protective younger brother. Akira pulls her aside one night and tells her Haru likes picnics, and tells her what flowers to get. And, he smiles knowingly when his sister comes home from her date smiling all wide, and rambles to him on his bed

Across the city, Makoto climbs up to her top bunk and grins and kicks her legs all full with joy, and her three younger siblings make barfing noises and shout "Gross!" as she calls her big sister to tell her all about it, Sae's wife Tae calling her gay in the background of the call

Then, the friend group expands. Second year for the older three means first year for their siblings. And, a chance encounter with two blonds, one natural, one dyed, which leads to More Gay

Ann and Shiho my beloved I am not budging from that BUT. Akira is hella gay, and now has his own crushes to ramble about when spending time with his big sister Haru. The athletic, kind-hearted, sometimes stupid, Ryuji Sakamoto. And, the angelic, odd, quite autistic Yusuke Kitagawa. It'll take him a year to get Ryuji on board for Operation: Blue Twink Seduction, but they'll get there

And by that time, Futaba is in her first year, and befriends three siblings in her class; Kasumi, Sumire, and Sophia

And. High school happens. Shit happens, but they're there for each other. Is this a cop out to finish this post now? Yes. But y'all are also free to ask about this or suggest shit

“You keep staring at him like that, you may as well just ask him out.”

Kim Dokja sighs. The few times Joonghyuk isn’t looking over and squinting at him, someone else (in this case, Jung Heewon) has to come over and disturb him. He really can’t eat his visual fill in peace no matter the circumstances, it seems.

“Yoo Joonghyuk,” he calls out.

He gives a little wave when the other student looks over with furrowed brows. Again, Dokja is hit with the temptation to smooth those wrinkles over with his fingers.

So young, yet so grumpy.

“Go out with me,” he mouths quietly. He grins when Joonghyuk blinks narrowed eyes in disbelief at him, and laughs when the other dares to flip a finger in response to his words.

He flips a finger back, just because he can.

“What was that?” Heewon asks. Her face, when it enters his view, is twisted in confusion at the odd and random exchange that just occurred before her. “What’d you tell him?”

“To go out with me.”

She laughs. “That’s why he flipped a finger at you?”

He nods. “That’s why he flipped a finger at me, yes.”

“I meant to ask him out seriously. Not as a joke, Dokja-yah. It’s no wonder he’d be so mad…”

He hums, resting his cheek on his chin. Again, he returns his gaze to Joonghyuk’s profile—sharp jaw despite his youth, a cat-like gaze, thick brows that highlight his eyes well, and a sharp nose with a line that naturally led one’s gaze to his kissable lips. His is a face that was awkward in his earlier years with his ears and brows and nose too large on his small face, but now, it was just unfair how attractive he’s grown up to be.

Who could blame him for staring, anyway? Anyone else would, he’s sure.

“Oh, he’d be mad regardless,” he says, smiling in amusement as he finds Joonghyuk’s gaze softening as it flickers over to him.

“But he’s cute like that.”

“You may as well make it official and stake your claim, you know.”

Yoo Joonghyuk struggles very hard not to throttle Han Sooyoung in full view of the student populace. He’d only been in the middle of unwrapping the food he’d prepared for himself and Kim Dokja on a desk in the courtyard; he doesn’t see why that’s worthy of her accosting him. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Making his lunch? You are either his mother or his lover, and yet, you are neither of those things.”

He huffs out a breath. “You can meddle elsewhere. Or are you dissatisfied with him eating a proper lunch?”

“We’re literally provided meals at school every day.”

“Not enough protein for him. You also know how picky he is.”

“You’re really—” Sooyoung scoffs. “I’m not saying you should stop anyway, you punk. I’m saying that you should make things clear so he doesn’t get the wrong idea.”

“What wrong ideas can anyone get from being provided with food?”

“That you’re just doing this for your entertainment until you get bored of him. That you’re thinking of him as a charity case.”

“Kim Dokja has never been a charity case. And if he were, how would I be any different?”

Sooyoung makes a face—not at him, but at herself. It’s as if she’d forgotten just who it is that she’s talking to, which wouldn’t be a surprise to him. Of course she’d forget the fact that he’s an orphan in favor of Kim Dokja, who has to live with only his mother after his old man passed away in the way that he did.

He likes it better this way, even if the miserable look on her face seems to have her believing otherwise.

“Don’t look like that,” he says, frowning at the wary look she sends his way. “I prefer it, that you forget what I am. And Dokja is not enough of a fool to think of himself in that way around me.”

“But—”

“Ah, Joonghyuk-ah! Did you make my favorite today?”

Dokja’s voice cuts through whatever Sooyoung’s complaints might be, making the both of them look back at him. He’s got his phone in hand, as is the usual, and the way he jogs over to them reminds Joonghyuk that he really should get Dokja to exercise more. He’s heaving for breath when he finds his way to their table in such a short distance…his stamina really is abysmal.

“No,” he says. He ignores the pout that Dokja gives him in response. “You can’t eat omurice every day, you fool.”

“But your omurice is so good?”

“I don’t care. Mia wanted white meat today.”

“Ah, so is it fish or chicken?”

“Fish.”

“...you two may as well get married,” Sooyoung grumbles.

Dokja blinks at her as he takes a seat beside Joonghyuk. “What was that?”

“Nothing, idiot.”

When Heewon sighs for the umpteenth time, Hyunsung can’t help it.

He finally voices the question he’s been wanting to ask ever since the start of group outing, the question that’s rested on the tip of his tongue ever since he saw the determined expressions on Sooyoung and Heewon’s faces.

To everyone at their table, he asks, “Is there something wrong..?”

Yoo Sangah quietly sips from her glass of juice, then smiles at him. Lee Seolhwa, in a similar way, shares a placid smile that has Hyunsung fidgeting in confusion. Those looks explain absolutely nothing, and only make him sweat nervously at what it is he must be missing.

Sooyoung, on the other hand, nods her head over to the distant counter where Joonghyuk and Dokja are still lined up to get their own orders. She says, “It’s them.”

He blinks. “Joonghyuk and Dokja? What about them?”

“We’re staging an intervention,” Heewon says. Again, that answers nothing. “They need our help, pronto. I can’t deal with this anymore.”

He smiles awkwardly. Somehow, he feels like he’s back in class when he nervously raises a hand to get their attention. “Um, what’s “this”?”

“This—”

“I’ve succeeded in corrupting our Joonghyukie!”

Hyunsung looks up at the sound of Dokja’s voice, and finds his pale classmate grinning while pulling a scowling Joonghyuk down to sit beside him. “Corrupt?” he asks.

“You know how he doesn’t like to eat food that he didn’t cook? I got him to get a burger today,” Dokja explains. Joonghyuk quietly slides the tray he’d brought over to Dokja’s side of the table, which Dokja takes as a sign to grab his own burger. “So, what were you talking about before we came back? It looked serious.”

“Oh,” Seolhwa begins to say, picking up some fries with one hand, “we were just talking about our plans for the future. What about you two, Dokja-yah, Joonghyuk-ah?”

“The future? Hm, I haven’t thought that far,” Dokja hums. It’s easy, the way he leans into Joonghyuk’s side as he thinks, that Hyunsung can’t help from wondering just what the others believe they need an intervention on. They seem to be happy enough as is, right? Or was there something he just didn’t know? If so, what was it?

“Liar,” Joonghyuk huffs. He unwraps his own burger, makes a face down at it, before taking a hesitant bite.

The grimace on his face deepens as he chews. Dokja laughs and laughs, and Hyunsung can’t help from laughing a little too—though, he does end up stopping when Joonghyuk squints at him.

Joonghyuk, for all his visual dismay at his food, still keeps eating. Hyunsung wonders why; it’s not like he’s the type to keep doing anything he doesn’t like. Maybe Dokja dared him into it? He’s usually only terrible at rejecting dares when Dokja is involved, from what he remembers.

Dokja asks, “Why am I a liar, Joonghyuk-ah?”

“We already have plans.”

“Living together isn’t much of a plan,” Dokja says. “They were probably talking about the jobs we’ll do. You’re going to keep going as a pro-gamer, right? As for me, I’m not really sure yet.”

“Wait.”

Dokja looks over, as does Hyunsung. Sooyoung’s tone is unnaturally urgent, so of course they’d end up looking at her. She says, “What do you mean, live together?”

“Exactly what it means? We’ll be living together. Sharing an apartment, or something along those lines. Maybe if Joonghyukie gets rich enough we can buy a house…”

Hyunsung finds himself growing more and more confused, the more that Dokja’s innocent smile grows deeper and deeper in its slyness. Like he knows something they don’t, somehow.

Sooyoung cries out, “You..!”

“If you have something to say,” Joonghyuk says bluntly, “just spit it out instead of mumbling nonsense.”

Heewon smacks both of her hands to the table with enough force that it shakes. Hyunsung has to set his own hands on the other end of the table to make sure it doesn’t fall over. She says, “Are you two dating?!”

“Yes.”

“That’s right.”

A chorus of screams resound from their table, catching the attention of servers and customers alike. Hyunsung finds himself shrinking in his seat, though Sangah and Seolhwa are remarkably calm as they continue to drink and eat their fill.

“You bastard!?” Sooyoung grabs Dokja by the collar and shakes him from across the table, gaze wild with fury while Dokja laughs in her face. “How dare you! We’ve been trying to set you both up, and you couldn’t even say that you were already together?!”

“It was funny watching you struggle, though,” Dokja says. He’s wheezing with laughter even as Joonghyuk pries Sooyoung’s hands off of him. As he curls into Joonghyuk’s side, one hand resting on the other student’s shoulder for support, he says, “And it’s not like we’re that subtle. Sangah and Seolhwa knew without either of us saying anything.”

“Sangah!”

“Seolhwa-yah, are you serious?”

The two of them, in response to the accusatory words, give a shrug and a smile. Sangah says, “It was their secret to tell, so…sorry?”

Seolhwa adds, “You’d have noticed it if you looked at them while they’re alone together. They usually only put on a show when they think someone’s looking.”

“I can’t believe you two!”

“You guys are terrible…”

“What about Hyunsung? Why aren’t you saying anything?”

“Ah. Ah,” he sputters, holding both hands up in surrender as he smiles at the accusatory glares being thrown his way. “I didn’t know either? I didn’t think there was even an issue in the first place, I just thought that Dokja and Joonghyuk are fine as they are…”

“Of course they’re fine as they are, when they’ve already been dating under our noses,” Sooyoung scoffs. “How long has it even been?”

“One year, three months?” Dokja says, looking over to Joonghyuk.

Joonghyuk nods.

“ONE YEAR?”

“You bastards?!”

Hyunsung is the one who ends up sighing this time. Quietly, shoulders curled in on themselves, he eats his burger—all while the others argue on the secrets that have been hidden from them after all this time.

He’d lied, just a bit. It wasn’t like he had confirmed knowledge on Joonghyuk and Dokja’s relationship, but…

It wasn’t like it was that difficult to see, just from how they smiled at each other whenever they were together. In those moments when they thought no one was around and they were alone, it was far too easy to see just how gentle Dokja could get, and how warm Joonghyuk could look.

I have never written an angsty ending in fic, because fic is my happy place. I have written some bittersweet ones, though.

Happiest? Damn. I mean, I haven't actually ended a Hellcheer longfic yet but Soul is absolutely a HEA.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

People have been surprisingly kind throughout my fic history. There have been some trolls and dickheads, but for the most part everyone has been super generous.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes! Usually kinky stuff, which is where I have the most interest. I find vanilla stuff kind of boring, so there's usually some power dynamic or another in there to pique my interest and keep me inventing weird stuff for them to do.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I wrote an X-Files/LoTR crossover in high school but that's not that weird.

Not that I've been made aware of.

I have, with my best friend. We wrote together in high school, and in some early fandoms. I really enjoyed it and would love to do it again, but it's a funny alchemy to find someone who fits your vibe and who you bounce off correctly and who wants to tell the same story you're telling.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Radu/Elmira. There's a deep cut.

15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

There's one in another fandom that is legitimately my only unfinished work in that fandom and it makes me sad. I do have a lot of half-started WIPs in draft that I haven't posted, so I guess those count. Maybe the western AU?

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I am decent at dialogue and description, and that I am better than some writers but worse than others. This is as close as I am legally allowed to come to complimenting my own work, thank you for understanding.

Literally everything else.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I would absolutely either have someone else help me, or I would write it in English and italicize it to indicate it's in another language.

Alma/Jowd/Cabanela are the OT3 of my heart but I’m perfectly happy with gen fic for them too with bestest friend Cabanela to Alma/Jowd. I’m also happy to see something focused on only one or two of them–I only ask that if there’s a ship situation between 2/3 it’s simply because that’s where the focus lies. No infidelity.

I’m a big fan of hurt/comfort and the more tenderness on the comfort end the better. However you can’t go wrong with pure fluff either.

I’d be interested in any mix here with Pigeon Man. I’m always a sucker for Pigeon Man and Cabanela during their year working together or any other time like meeting again for the first time in the new timeline! But, Jowd and PM have a history and Alma and PM are a very rare combo I'd love to see more of, or any other combo or subset of these four characters.

I played KQ VI for the first time early this year and was completely charmed by it. While I'd like the focus to be on KQVI things I'm good with pulling in details from the other games in the original series too. Just nothing specific to the 2015 reboot please as I've never played or seen it.

I found Alexander quite endearing. I was really interested in Cassima and while she's stuck in the damsel in distress role she felt less like one--she was ready to take action and just needed that opportunity, and was so protective and dedicated to her home.

Saladin could be interesting from a conflicted loyalty to the crown perspective. It's tough being a guard dog!

Rotten Tomato... sometimes you just gotta have fun. He was an entertaining grump nyehh.

Some general ideas:

Even with the genie's help, I'm sure there are still things to take care of after the mess Alhazred left. Or go with the worse ending and Alexander and Cassima having to deal with the fall-out of that.

Exploration of Cassima before Alexander arrives? She's pretty trapped but bound to be something there... Does she managed to communicate anything with Saladin? Does Alhazred just keep wrecking things?

Alexander and Cassima having an adventure after the end possibly tying into that first point but with the land of the green isles anything could go! Maybe they come across Rotten Tomato again and need his help with something.

Hi! 👋

I’m so glad you asked me this! There’s loads of stuff about this AU I want to share, I absolutely adore it. Here are some bullet points for now, I’m in the process of writing backgrounds for all the characters I want to feature, as well as some scenes and other stuff.

Ava got dropped on stage during the climax of a ballet that was being streamed into cinemas around the world (something the Royal Ballet actually does!). Her partner for the night was her ex. Read into that what you will.

Connor is the artist director and was not best pleased when she joined the company. He’d been overworked for years, but that meant he had complete creative control and he wasn’t keen on giving that up.

Ava was not impressed at how all over the place the dancers were when she arrived, so she completely overhauled their rehearsal schedule within a week and took them back to basics. Nobody was happy about that, least of all Connor.

It works though. Her approach to training makes the dancers much more cohesive as she’s making sure their base skill was roughly equal rather than relying purely on natural talent and they're able to work from there.

Ava and Connor grow to have a Thing. Nobody is entirely sure if they’re dating or just really close friends, and they aren’t about to clarify either way.

Stevie, Jay and Will are best friends and have been best friends since they were kids and all danced together at the dance school Mama Halstead owned.

Most of the dancers teach on the side, a few of them having their own dance schools they work at after rehearsal/on the weekends

The theatre also has a dance school based out of it, but isn’t really tied to the company. The younger dancers will often teach the odd masterclass though.

Most of the dancers joined through a dance school with some link to the company. Several of the younger dancers were taught by older dancers who convinced Connor to audition them

After Ava’s been at the company for a couple of months a film crew come to do a documentary on her because her injury was so high profile and she’s barely been heard from since.

They end up doing a feature on the company as a whole and the change they're making.

The documentary comes out right as the final production for the season starts. Because of it the production ends up being profitable enough that the company gets to stay open.

before they got to meet each other;; nvm. i made it way long so putting readmore.

there's a guild called "The Order of Stone" (yeah yeah) founders were obvs Ivor, Gabriel, Ellegaard, Magnus and Soren with a few veteran players. But was handed it over to Jack, Ivor and Soren wanted to focus on their real life stuff together but still check in online daily, Gabriel have to retire (he have family and a real job in real life) and Ellegaard couldn't make time anymore (she's a professor in uni), and Magnus is busy exploring the world around for a long while. (he still log in just to see how's the guild doing).

the first person to join that guild was petra- who is actually jack's daughter and it was him that introduce her to that silly mmo so why not? she became a increasing popular player, and is a multi-class player. Switch between Warrior and Rogue whenever she wants. She and her dad still plays to this day, even up to her high school years.

enter jessie, olivia and axel who are irl friends, who just learnt about this mmo recently (from axel) and they all try it out just to see for fun.

shit happened, a little confusion where to go and that was how jessie met petra. through they never met each other irl, they met first online.

being a long-time player, petra help them how to get through this game and points them to directions they want to see. she didn't exactly ask them about joining the guild-- it's usually her dad who does that to show how cool the guild was. but jessie was the one who asked first, and well, she off-mentioned it. next time they meet, they joined her guild.

flash forward to college years, no one actually knew each other other than their online selves for these years. it wasn't until the three came to the internet cafe where they had met lukas, aiden, maya and gill there. the four of them works there as part-timers, but they also stay because of the mmo. they're in a different guild ofc (called the Blazing Ocelots). that internet cafe is surprisingly owned by ivor and soren, along with their wife- harper.

it's also where jack used to come by then his daughter petra later on.

petra doesn't tell everyone who her character is other than ivor, soren, and harper. (they all knew jack so they knew her).

it only took petra and jessie to really, really meet in person until this time, its petra who try so cool casually asking if they could meet up. after learning they were both live in the same area, and jessie suggested the internet cafe. lets just say.

the dumbasses were so happy that they just log off the computers, and about to get off when they look at each other. suddenly realizing they're the only ones here. and how do they knew its each other? jessie was so fucking excitied she just said "I can't wait to meet Miss Butter!" SDGMDSMGSDMGMSDMG

now where do stella comes in.

no one knew where she is from or whatever -- actually harper does. harper may be married to her husband and hangs out with his husband... but she do knew her from hadrian. while in this au, these two are actually okay, it's just the recent years had put them a bit of strained relationship and stella need to get away.

so what did harper suggested? join that mmo! stella thinks that's silly but she did. this was during her high school, and she was a quiet loner despite so popular at school that joined. and realized she can be herself there than at school and so she did.

she is one of the people who don't join guilds and are considered solo. Stella's a Summoner so she focused on that and just work diligently through the main quests, and sometimes just... wandering. She feel herself here than in the real world.

That is. not until she (Llunastellar) meet Jessie (NetherWarrior) and Petra (Miss_Butter) <3

holly is kind of working as a campaign manager for squilf. she's not at the meeting table (leaning harder and harder towards "she's vamp married to willowshine, high ranking member of riverclan's court"), so she's behind the scenes, and that's what she's been doing the whole time.

rn i'm thinking we'll have fic one (meet cute) & fic two (politics), so for fic one and prior, she's mostly chilling in rome and doing her job as like. a day to day member of vamp functioning.

rn i think lion is living in a houseboat. like he's just vibing. sometimes he sleeps for a whole ass week.

that and going on dates with cinderheart LOL. they're not courting (yet), but they do like to have fun together.

lion is EASILY closest to squirrelflight. while jay doesn't call her mom like holly and lion, lion is like. "yes. mom. mama. mother. i love her." he's the guy where you know he's a good guy because of how much he loves his mother*

*this is a joke please don't assume someone's character based on one trait you don't know what their life is like all feelings towards mothers are valid

holly is definitely in the middle. she's not super close with leafpool like jayfeather is (i'm also presently leaning towards jayfeather lives closest towards leaf, also he went to medical school), but she's not lionblaze either. her relationship with squirrelflight can be very clinical at times.

as siblings...holly and lion are way closer to each other than they are jay, altho that's a product of proximity more than anything else. the three of them are all pretty close, but in the distant way immortality tends to have on relationships. like they're permanently siblings in their twenties. (they're also pretty young for vampires.)

holly also thinks lion is a bit of a freeloader.

holly loves briar! she definitely is a bit more removed from human society than both lion and jay, so she's kind of...a little weird about it? it's a subtle quality of "oh it would be so much fun to buy you some dresses so you look nice! you're so cute!"

lion doesn't have a strong opinion, but in a positive way? like she's nice. she's fine. she makes jay happy. he is kind of jealous jay gets to have company during extended negotiations. he would like cinderheart to be sitting on his lap thank you very much.

(aside: there's definitely a smoke break quality to this all. briar has human needs after all. jay is absolutely leaving the room to take care of her and not at all to update holly on what's going on and get any feedback from her. he would NEVER do that.)

brambleclaw and holly are close, but he was distant with them as children and lion and jay haven't gotten over that. (he was way less distant w holly as well.)

5. What's a tag you never want to use for your works even when it applies?

Angst, like just the straight up angst tag for some reason I'm worried is going to deter people from reading so I end up softening it with something else instead. So it's always fluff and angst or angst with a happy ending.

10. Top three favourite fic tropes.

Enemies to lovers, Soulmates, Fake Dating - this was the hardest one to answer. It's like getting asked what your favorite book is and you don't remember how to read or what books look like.

15. What's your favourite plotless fic you have written?

This describes half of my catalog, plot I do not know her it is only vibes.

I'm gonna go with the bells, the joy (together in darkness) my Stobin hivemind fic which is plotless in the sense that it's more of an exploration of new Stobin unity and what a hivemind with humans would even look like. And any time I get to write Steve and Robin I have a good time

20. Do you work on a single project or many at the same time? How does that work for you?

Many at the same time, it does not work for me but it is what I do all the same. My writing tracker (where everything goes once more than 10 words have been written on a project) has 33 entries currently from the last year or so that are unfinished and in varying stages of progress. But if I start something and don't finish it immediately esp one shots they tend to get abandoned on the pile.

At least until they're lucky enough to grab my attention on a procrastination re-read and I finish them in one sitting (looking at you have your cake)

25. Is writing the whole thing beforehand better or worse than writing it as you go?

For me personally, I have unfortunately realized I have to have the whole thing or almost the whole thing completely written beforehand. I think I may be used to be able to publish as I wrote (like back in high school when I was writing The Mentalist stuff on ff.net under a pseud none of you will ever find). But with my chronic pick it up and abandon it once i'm bored disease I'm just to bad about actually finishing stuff. (RIP mi media naranja some day I will at least post the other chapters I have written that I've felt too bad about posting since it's been so long. but also i still want to finish you)

30. Describe a fic that almost happened, but then it didn't.

I hate saying it didn't happen, because if it's a Wip in my folder there's always a chance I'll finish it one of these days. And I'm so one track minded that I rarely make massive changes to fics once I start them that drastically alter the plot from what they could have been.

That said it's been so long since I've written anything for Vandal that I feel pretty safe describing this Wip that will possibly never see the light of day.

It was one of those fics where the title comes to you first, y'know. So it was going to be called intricate rituals and it was a soulmate and magic au, convoluted already I know, where soulmates amplify your natural abilities through proximity and touch. Gabi has found hers in Jenna and Sam is a little upset about it. So he performs an ~intricate ritual~ that's supposed to bring his soulmate to him. This is of course where Peter comes in and they bond interpersonally but never touch because of character anxieties and social taboos so they don't realize they're soulmates for ages. There was probably also going to be a miscommunication element where they've touched but not touched like a hand through a shirt not counting it has to be skin on skin contact.

35. Thoughts on writing challenges/contests.

I enjoy them! I always end up trying (and usually failing) nanowrimo every year. I've participated in both a big bang and reverse bang now, and am currently white knuckling my way through this year's steddie bang. I like a challenge to get more creative and a deadline and accountability to actually finish something with some plot.

- i have a LOT of LGBT+ headcanons!! first of all, dimitri is bi ofc u.u byleth is bi and in the ace spectrum, like demisexual (just like me fr.......). ashe is a trans guy and marianne a trans girl (t4t power couple), and i like the headcanon about ignatz being a trans girl too! bernadetta is aroace imo. oh, and all the blue lions are bisexual bc i say so :] also due to some funny stuff at first i thought arval was supposed to be a girl, then i realized they/them pronouns are used for arval in the game, then the epimenides reveal happened... so i now headcanon arval to be a trans girl who uses they/she (... again, relevant to my modern au)!! oh, and sothis is bisexual too. bc she's the goddess and she WILL fuck anyone she wants u.U
