Day 5 - 15 days of Productivity
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Goals for tonight:
Finish researching for toxoplasma essay (1250 words)
Finish weeks 2, 3 ABD study notes
Reply to texts from friends/study groups.
Email parasitology prof for honors year
Wash dishes
Put out dark washing.
It's 5pm rn, and I've already done a pretty good job for today. Accomplished:
Packed everything in my room into boxes.
Sorted out thing to go to op shop.
Wrapped fragile things in bathroom.
Went to shops to buy bags for moving.
Put out light washing.
I feel like I'm the type of person to fully exert myself one day and then get exhausted the next day! When I get a bout of inspiration I just can't stop tbh, and then once I'm tired, I can't get up. Wish I was the type of person who could have routine - I rlly thrive in stressful situations. When everything is calm, I just can't function lmao.
Day 4 was one of those days - I was able to spend most of the night packing for my room though and got quite a bit done.
Tomorrow, I think I need to assess the time I have realistically to study for my animal disease biotechnology exam, to figure out how the best to spend my time.

there is literally no wrong way of annotating. you underline with a pen/pencil? great, it's your book. you highlight? great, it's your book. you like putting tabs on the pages? great, it's your book. you put tabs on the page but they don't match the colour with which you highlighted/underlined? you do you, babe, it's your book. the lines are wonky? nobody can say anything, it's your book. you highlight any part you like? nobody can say anything, it's your book. you highlight any quote you even remotely relate to? nobody can say anything, it's your book. you wanna write little notes to go along with want you highlighted? nobody can say anything, it's your book. you wanna doodle around all the things you highlighted? show your artistic side babe, it's your book. you wanna doodle just on the page but it has nothing to do with what you highlighted? it's your book, you can draw whatever you want. the doodles are messy and kinda ugly? we still love to see it, nobody can say anything, it's your book. it's your book.

Read with a highlighter!!
I recently read Black Cake with a friend, and since we were going to discuss it, I wanted to make sure I was paying attention to the story and its details. I decided to mark each reference to black cake since it's the title of the book. I also started highlighting quotes I liked.
I really think it enhanced the read for me. Each time I saw black cake mentioned I got excited, and it stood out to me because I was marking those specifically. And any time I felt moved by a quote I would highlight it. It made me more invested in the story and more aware. I just finished Weyward and highlighted quotes I liked too, and it really was nice paying attention to what resonated with me.

How do you highlight, especially in a book, not like- super fucking crooked. I think my highlighters are out to get me because apparently a straight line is impossible.

Paintbrush, PlasGlue, and Holy Clippers: Day 6 & 7: Metallics
I didn't have time to do any painting yesterday but I managed to finish it up today, so all good ^v^
Before starting the metallic highlights I decided to return to the flesh and leather highlights, so I got out the Jokaero orange, did some edge highlighting, then got out the mournfang and started touching up the highlights I'd already done, trying to blend them into the base color a bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now time for the metals! I decided I'd use gehenna for the brass and stormhost silver for the steel. Then, in the middle of doing that, I remembered I needed to highlight the gold accents, too, and got out some auric armor gold :p :p
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While highlighting the metals, I decided I wanted to see how it'd look if I used them to put some highlights in the Elves' hair. I did the silver in HB's first, and decided I'd try some brass in Archer's too
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I liked it! Here's some more pics after the paint had some time to dry
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After looking them over I decided they were a BIT too bright, and put another layer of shade, Fuegan orange for Archer and Nuln oil for HB, on their hair, thinning it down on the wet-palette first
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yus! Now, I was satisfied uwu uwu uwu
So! After waiting 45mins for the shade to dry and then taking those pics, I got out my Stormshield matte varnish and applied the first coat, thinning it on the palette as it was a bit goopy. Im thinking I'll use gloss for the second coat on the hair, at least, just to see how a gloss finish looks; if I REALLY dont like it I can always go over the hair with a THIRD varnish of matte again.
And that's it! Tomorrow I'll do a post on the basing, which I'll be doing separately, and two-ish days after that I'll post some Finished pics and then it's on to my next project!

Woops this is a bit of a long post but I got a lot done these last two days. Lots of reading getting done in between tasks. I also spent most of yesterday reorganising my Notion set up. I'll keep tweaking it as I go but I plan to use Notion instead of Google Docs for my notes next year (since I'll get Notion Student and I'm losing my Doc's premium). Any Notion tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thought I would include the Pupster as he's taking up most of my time recently. He's just gone 6 months old (aka doggy teenage years) so training is getting harder. It's a priority for us that he is really well trained - which is tiring and rewarding. Took him to the fields today for recall training before going to puppy class. I am very proud of my boy.

Okay so this is the work today. I got some essential oils burning because it really helps with my hay fever (I don't know why but it does). So far the way I've been making notes is writing down a question in the margin, either one I made up or from the textbook itself, and then answering it. I hate just copying stuff from a textbook it's not helpful to me so this sort of thinking is usually quite helpful. But it also takes up a lot of time. So I don't know.
