[VIDEO] Musical JAMIE: The Musical "JAMIE" is Now Available to Watch Online

With the double cast of Morisaki Win and Takahashi Fuu as Jamie New, both versions of the Musical "JAMIE" have been made available to watch online.

Both versions feature Sato Ryuji as Dean Paxton.

NOTE: On the broadcast day, Yabe Masaki (the W-cast for Dean) had been a close contact of someone who had tested COVID-19 positive. During this time, Ryuji took on the role as an emergency replacement. Because of this, Ryuji performed for five consecutive performances on three consecutive days without a break.

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT

Dean Paxton is a classmate of Jamie who bullies Jamie for being gay and for wanting to be a drag queen. However, Ryuji puts his own spin on the role, bringing to life a Dean whose confidence and popularity hides a boy who is as conflicted and insecure as the Jamie he bullies. 

Even as he watches Jamie grow into his own, Dean finds himself being pushed to the fringes, and we watch as Dean’s shields crumble, leading to the final explosive but also incredibly sweet confrontation between him and Jamie. 

Ryuji’s Dean has a subtly different relationship with Win’s Jamie and Fuu’s Jamie, and an incredible chemistry with both of them.

Sweat drops. Oh boy, we do NOT have all day (hopefully Tumblr doesn't have a word limit). I guess to give the basic run down, I'll start off with the basic summary of the fanfic they're apart of and which kid is from what canon-bsd character (as well as what ship said kids are a product of). okay so!!! this is a really good film!! i enjoyed it a lot, and it really got the assignment stylistically and thematically. but i do feel this is more on higuchi over anno. i really like the cast, but this movie feels oddly clinical on the human parts? like i really like the cast, they are GREAT, asami's a pretty good protag and i adore lipiah a lot, but i wish we got more of them like, developing dynamics and relationships, bc it doesn't really focus on the emotional part there. it kinda left me wanting more there

the aliens are really well done too! lipiah is such a good and pure ultra that i wish we got more of him bc i really loved him, zoffy's a good spin on how vague M78 was at the start, and mephilas and zarab are absolutely fun and compelling villains to watch on the screen

the aesthetics, sounds and feel are a good combination of retro and modern, i kinda wish higuchi got more credit from fans for this film bc i feel he sold the emotional and stylistic stuff really well, esp since the script is utilitarian at times. he was what made this film really work. i think anno's script mostly nails the themes, i like the criticism of the world governments and militarism in it, but it does get kinda muddy at the end bc he changes the way they beat zetton. i remember he hated tiga having normal people help tiga beat the bad guy so like lol. i do think he had to add that theme at the end bc it's a fundamental part of ultra, that humans can grow by themselves, but it def felt like he had to have the ultra more involved with clenched teeth lol. but that's just the end. i feel most of the film Got The Assignment

i adored asami and lipiah and i wish we actually got to see their bond actually develop on screen. they are just really good characters. also wow asami is very prominent in this film. trigger got lapped by ANNO with girl rep even with the pervy scenes added that's so fucking sad. i do think the visual of lipiah constantly looking at shinji's dead body to remind himself what he's fighting for and what he's protecting is so haunting and good. i really love him...i need more of him. also them dividing ide into a funny girl and an otaku was fun. i liked that

i think act 2 is way stronger than act 1. i feel that them introducing so much stuff at the start didn't leave space for the human core, which did kinda hurt the ending. but if the sequel is more focused and straightforward and gets to show more of the cast, it could improve this

but yeah, the lack of a strong human heart and a lil lack of polish is kind of my only big thing with this movie. everything else is really good!!! i really enjoyed my time with it, and it left me wanting more. lipiah pls marry me. looking forward to this and rising's sequels!!!

also wow this and rising being leagues better than UGF is so good. who could think having actual writing and a budget could make a movie good???

and mhm! bsd follows a pattern where if a character is named after a real life author, chances are they're an ability user or will gain an ability somewhere in the series! bsd characters r divided mostly into two categories: authors (ability users) and works (bsd characters who are based off the works off the authors). the best example here are the akutagawa siblings! akutagawa is the author, meanwhile gin is based off the main character in one of his works, O-Gin.

higuchi is named after...well, higuchi ichiyou, who was one of the most famous female writers in the meiji era of japan, she's also the country's first professional female writer of modern literature! aside from higuchi, aya koda (bsd OVA) is also another character named after an author, with a high high possibility of gaining an ability anywhere within the series!

and lastly, idk if you're using the japanese dub of genshin but iirc, kujou sara is one of your f/os too, and she and higuchi share a voice actor, asami seto! (if u want more voice actor facts pls knock— /lh /gen) KFHKDHD
