back on my bullshit and i promise i only talk about The Situation a little bit

☆ his third arm is more sensitive than the other two (i'm thinking that either the USHD doctors fucked something up during the operation OR it grew in wrong, nerve endings closer to the epidermis and whatnot, something like that)

☆ just hates being touched in general, he’d rather initiate that contact (need an update where he gently —> not very gently shakes expendables off (depending on whether and how much they’ve annoyed/flashbanged him) when they climb him) ☆☆ part of this is due to trauma, he cant trust anyone to touch him without hurting him ☆☆ the other part is that he’s got that fucking dawg in him (i’ll get to this in a second)

☆ unlike what his new voice lines are starting to suggest about his character (i’m not gonna talk about zerum again because i think everyone knows what's happening at this point and ive already thrown in my two cents) he does NOT hate the expendables. literally his first line upon meeting him in his shop has him calling himself your friend (as strained of a connection as it may be, he could very easily not offer items, not share documentation/info, and just take the expendables data and hoard anything he picks up to make it harder for them to get to the crystal) (like yes, it's a mutually beneficial relationship but if sebastian didn't care about or sympathize with the expendables to some extent, it wouldn't be). i really do think he just has a short fuse (i'm not going to bring up trauma again, however-) and says things he doesn't mean (e.g. “they deserved it. and frankly so do the rest of you.” (im coping with the mischaracterization of these new lines leave me alone)) as a means of protecting himself and pushing the expendables further away (both physically and emotionally)

☆ he’ll act like a brat once they’re done, but he lets younger expendables sleep in his shop (he cares about them but would never in a million years let them know that) ☆☆ if a younger one comes in with a bunch of adult expendables, he’ll treat them all the same but will secretly slip the younger one some extra batteries, gauze, something unnoticeable (he feels especially responsible for the younger male expendables cause they remind him of his little brother)

☆ sometimes he thinks he can hear his family's voices on the radio, just under all the static, calling out for him like a search party would. he used to cry over this but he almost got caught once by an expendable coming into the shop so he does his best to tune it out. it’s hard. guilt pulls at his stomach every time he hears a clip of his family, begging for him to come home, to respond, something, anything, and he ignores it.

☆ autism (cause i said so) - i'm including this one for the sole reason that he does the dinosaur thing with his third arm and generally keeps his hands clasped together in the secret dinosaur position (he just like me fr) ☆☆ hates bright lights (the only light he uses/allows in his shop is the one he emits) (its a very soft/warm hue as opposed to the bright fluorescents throughout the rest of the facility) (not to bring up the flash beacon, obviously nobody likes getting flashbanged and he's got angler eyes but sTILL)

☆ he used to hate eating fish (pre-op) and now he’s pissed cause it’s all he has available and the DNA changes made it so fish is the yummiest tastiest thing in the world (i like imagining him actively fighting the urge to eat whatever fish he’s cooked in one bite cause he refuses to acknowledge that he's changed on a level that isn't physical/appearance-based)

☆ calls grown adults “kiddo” (even the ones that are older than him) ☆☆ he gets a certain kind of joy from seeing the 40/50/60 year old expendables try to figure out just how old he is after they get called “kiddo”. it’s extra fun for him when they’ve clearly already heard the rumors and/or gotten a glimpse of his file

☆ the ring is just an accessory, a bracelet on the floor or in a locker he found and liked. assumed nobody was gonna claim it and kept it (shoutout to @/lotus.eaterr on tik tok for this one!!!!)

It’s just so funny to be in a fandom like Gilmore Girls analyzing Rory’s love interests in every which angle, going over how healthy and unhealthy each dynamic is and character arcs and flaws and strengths and who is best for each other at what point and for how long.

'man its crazy how people think laios is the most evil man alive just for really intensely engaging his special interest' in the latter half of the 2010s there was ongoing Discourse about newt geiszler pacificrim's interest in kaiju being a disgusting and insensitive thing that, since kaiju are ~basically~ weapons of mass destruction, makes him A Creepy War Fandom Guy who loves human suffering (this was before pac rim2, which is bad, but is not relevant here for other reasons beside it being the Worst. also, there were no statements on whether the guys in the military hierarchy of nuclear-powered punch robots were also Creepy War Fan Guys.) never mind that he is actively yk working against the kaiju, and his pursuit of knowledge of them does in fact majorly directly contribute to saving the world. obviously newt and laios are different characters in different contexts, but presumably .1% or less of the people involved in newt discourse personally knew or were someone victimized by a kaiju so yeah it's actually really easy for me to imagine a bunch of in-world dm people thinking laios is gross and horrifying and dangerous for being interested in monsters. if he wasn't the fandom's Precious Autistic Mascot people here would be saying that about him already. give it a few years and they'll forget the autism and start talking about how shipping labru is bad because laios as a disturbingly socially inept White Man who won't shut up about monsters would be traumatizing for kabru to exist near

The reality about a DNI is that its more of a warning that you won't interact with someone who fits it more than it is some kind of magical boundary line that prevents anyone from interacting with you in any capacity.

A DNI is not about the other person. Its about you.

Its you saying that if they engage with you, you're not going to reciprocate. You're going to prevent further engagement.

Furthermore; stop having unrealistic expectations and demands of how people respect DNIs and become aware of them. The other reality is that very few people will waste time clicking through multiple blogs and whole pages of requirements to make sure that them reblogging from someone who reblogged from someone else who reblogged your post isn't them violating your DNI. They're just going to see a post on their dashboard from someone they follow and they're going to reblog it.

And that's fine.

If you don't want it to happen again, you can block them. That's actually the entire purpose of that tool; to curate your own space.

A DNI is basically a no entry sign. Its all well and good, but its still up to you to lock the door.

probably? but i doubt it. catra isn't beloved by the viewers just because she's a lesbian (although that's a big part of the reason), it's also because 1. she's hot and 2. the show always frames catra as the victim. let me explain:

1. shadow weaver falls into the trope of "horribly disfigured villain" and while i personally think she still looks cool, i know that a lot of people are knowingly or unknowingly repelled by anything outside the established beauty standards. there's a reason why heroes usually don't tend to have serious disfigurements or visible disabilities. if they are allowed to have scars, it's usually the cool kind, one slash across the cheek or forehead.

2. the show goes out of its way several times to convince the audience that catra was not in the wrong, even though she was. s5 was framed in such a way that all of adora's trauma and her entire character arc, in fact, was dismissed for catra. s5 literally paints adora as the toxic one, despite telling us why she did what she did in s1. if the show frames something as "the right thing", then the audience are gonna take it at face value. and since 90% of the spop fandom seem to be gullible, they believe it easily.

so yeah, the only way the show could make shadow weaver more likeable to the audience would be to give her a complete makeover, a tragic backstory, her abuse deliberately framed as "girlboss moments" and a possible love interest.

sorry to sound like a snob but at this point i observe fandom twitter like an experiment. people start discourse over things that didn't happen. tv journalism is a race to who publishes misquoted Interviews faster. your mutual from the gc was cancelled while you slept for writing a canon typical violence fic.

really funny that twitter spent all week arguing about whether or not the critical role cast was picking campaign favorites (and accusing m9 of being forgotten and having “middle child syndrome” as if they didn’t just announce the animated series and drop teasers for it) and then at the end of last weeks episode, matt indicated they’d be doing both vox machina and mighty nein one shots while returning to their original characters, and the entire cast got so excited at the thought of playing everyone again.

critical role fandom, look within yourself. is the cast picking favorites, or are YOU picking favorites, and this opinion you want to die in the hill for says far more about YOU than THEM?
