this is a private joke about french politician Jules de Polignac ignoring the literal french revolution in Paris's streets back in 1830, and saying to king Charles Xth "the virgin mary told me not to worry", which became a running gag. and don't worry to much about the ak47. with @justanothergaynerd <3

General Winfield Scott knew what to do with insurrectionists attempting to interfere with the lawful count of the electoral vote, and said so back in 1861.

Involves the muzzle of a twelve-pounder gun, the window of the Capitol building and the verb "to manure."

NB: Like all American historical figures, "Old Fuss and Feathers" did seriously shitty stuff— a career military officer going back to the early 1810s he slaughtered Native Americans in the so-called "Indian Wars," and oversaw the forced relocation of the Cherokee. At least he wanted to blow up Robert E. Lee with a cannon, so genocidal clock can be right once a day, right?

One of his good points, he came up with the "Anaconda Plan" to blockade the Confederacy which leads to a LOT of innuendo and Winfield Scott x Nicki Minaj mash-ups.

The American Civil War is my least favorite period of history to study, partly because I grew up in those Confederate-manured hills of Arlington, VA but mainly because we keep repeating these fights over and over. Issues never resolved.

When the soon-to-be-Confederate states were upset about the election of Abraham Lincoln, soon-to-be-Union-General Scott made this statement threatening to murder them with a huge ass gun.
