so you wanna make a spiderpunk backpack, huh? what's the profile on this guy? @/_oddlycute_ on TikTok, 25k followers, top post with 1.5M views. alright, let's get started.
Here's what you're gonna do.
First, go to the thrift store and the craft store. Pick up a small leather jacket, small backpack, red fabric, blue fabric, white fabric paint, spikes, safety pins, whatever else you need, alright? Get as close to the original as ya want, it's punk so we're not gonna be pickey.
Now start cutting. Cut the jacket down to size, cut the red fabric for the base, cut the blue fabric for the shirt. You're gonna wanna cut up the blue fabric a bit more, give it some wear and tear, just like the photo. Got it?
then get artsy. You want it to look like spiderman, you're gonna wanna make some webs. I suggest drawing them out first so you don't look stupid, but I'm not gonna stop ya kid, it's up to you. This is where the white fabric paint comes into play.
Now you're gonna have to put it all together. You can sew them, best to use a hook needle like they did, or you can glue it, like I would.
Now finish the job. You got spikes? Safety pins? Patches? Whatever you're gonna do, do it now.
So we just watched Across the Spider-Verse last night and well... it was really good. Maybe not as awesome as the first one (I am not a fan of Spiderman and even I thought it was friggin fantastic), but this was a pretty decent sequel.
My only problem that it was a little bit over-everything. "Overdid, oversaid, overrepeated... you got the picture. The eclectic, fast editing during the flying / jumping sequences is really cool at the first three times. But after the fifth similar scene it gets... I don't know... boring (?) Can I even say that about an epileptic style? Of course the whole HQ storyline is a huge exception, if you want fast paced action that's the perfect place to use it.
Also they repeated the spider stuff waaaaay to much. Introducing new characters? Cool, use it! Miles telling the same thing during the third time just in this movie? Not as good. Also maybe I'm geting older but two hours of angsty teenage feeling starts to feel too much.
Otherwise?
This was awesome and I enjoyed it incredibly. Not just because I wasn't really in cinema since the Oscar-season and we were mostly watching art films in small cinemas, not this kind of big budget blockbusters..... but because it was honest to God so funny, the audience cracked up all the time. The new characters? All different variations of the Spiderman lore? Hilarious. I can't decide if Hobbie or Pav is my new favourite Spiderman. Also, I didn't know previously that Karan Soni is in this but the moment I heard his voice my Miracle Workers / Bridgewater loving heart jumped and I shrieked and gasped at the same time. He deserves all the love.
Gwen had such an amazing art style and I really loved how the story started with her. (Plus point for giving her different hair styles... wow an animated character can wear hair ties, especially when doing all sorts of stunts? Shocking :D ) She sadly got less screen time in the second part of the movie.
And there were again some beauuuuuutiful, wallpaper-worthy shots. Even echoing sometimes the famous 'leap of faith" scene.
Oh and thanks to the creators for all the easter eggs. I'm sure I only got half of it for this first watch but I loved them all.
And the ending?
Well my friend became, what's the best word? Infuriated? Maybe that's the best phrasing. Most people was shocked in the cinema, but I was only thinking fondly: "Nice move, bastards." :D
I've had major writers block for a while but I've been busy making Macrame Christmas decorations to help unclog my brain. I'm quite impressed so far...
I used to suffer quite badly with my mental health, it's a lot better these days but sometimes I still find myself getting into a bad downward spiral, but I find doing something creative whether it's macrame, painting, writing or something completely new and different, helps me. When I get writers block bad, I tend to worry and put myself down, telling myself I've failed but I find doing something like this reminds me that that's not true at all.
