I love comic books so much but sometimes interacting with the fan base as a whole is like medieval torture, like I can’t go on Instagram and see a post about a DC project without getting a stomach ulcer from reading the comments

I like for things to make sense so whatever there’s like a vague timeline for something that is loose and unclear, I like to try and make it make sense and the timeline for the bat family is deeply confusing to me so I broke it down for myself, and I thought I would share my work

For the sake of simplicity, let’s say that when Bruce first became Batman, or at least hit the street for the first time as Batman he was 20 years old.

Fast-forward three years of him being Batman when he adopts nine year-old Dick Grayson. Bruce: 23 Dick 9

Then about nine years later, Dick leaves behind the mantle of Robin and becomes Nightwing, shortly after Jason becomes Robin. Bruce: 32 Dick: 18 Jason: 14

For a rough estimation, let’s say that Jason is killed when he’s 16 years old and is dead or mia for about five years. Then about a year after Jason’s death, Tim becomes the new Robin. Bruce: 34-41 Dick: 20-27 Jason: 16-21 Tim: 12-16

And then like a year later, Damian turns up and becomes the new Robin. Bruce: 42 Dick: 28 Jason: 22 Tim: 17 Damien: 10

And in the more current run of Batman and Robin Damian is about 15 now which would set everyone at roughly:

Bruce: 44 Dick: 30 Jason: 24 Tim: 22 Damian: 15

(The reason I didn’t mention Barbara, Stephanie, Duke, Kate, and all the others is because this is mostly just me mapping out the timeline for who was Robin when. Stephanie would’ve been between Tim’s time as Robin, but she was Robin for less than half a year so I didn’t add her into the timeline because her age is approximately the same as Tim’s give or take a year or two and I also didn’t want to break the timeline down into months because math is not my strong suit)

All in all, this is just a silly little timeline for me to make sense of my thoughts so I highly doubt that I’m right as I’ve not read every single comic book that there is, but I wanted a little way of knowing the age gap between characters for my own reference

I see it like Dean’s one of those guys who blames his newborn baby for his spouse dying but he works through it a bit- not perfect but there was more effort than what John put in, Cas is just a standard good dad who’s a little out of touch but means well, and Sam is like Joey or Jessie from Fullhouse- like he’s not a traditional dad but fills the role anyway and in many ways is probably doing better at raising the kid

i feel like some of yall forgot that dean literally HATED jack when he was first introduced in the show. like that's not deans son, he's sam's. jacks dad's are sam and cas and dean is his bitchy uncle

I desperately want more interactions between Selina and Damian, because from their existing interactions they have such a sweet dynamic

I can imagine them bonding over a love of cats and both of their experience with crime/moral ambiguity

Interacting with a fan base on a site other than Tumblr is so strange. I’ll see the most surface level conversations about the plot and characters and I’m like damn nobody’s really doing it like Tumblr or are they? You guys can just watch a show and you don’t have to delve neck deep into the meta, you just watched the show enjoy it and go on with your life? Crazy.

Idk if I'm the only one, but the fact that Damian and the rest of the Al Ghul's heritage is so underdeveloped makes me feel like that image of the guy with the red string board from it's always sunny.

Because like, Damian is 1/2 white, we know this, this is the most fleshed out part of his ethnic background. And many people say that Damian is 1/2 Arab, and 1. from what country? and 2. he's not even 1/2 Arab, he's part Chinese as well.

Ra's Al Ghul himself is from a mixed background, hailing from a Chinese nomadic tribe that traversed across Eurasia for hundreds of years, meaning he likely is largely ethnically Chinese, as well as a combination of a lot of other ethnicities across the continent.

Talia's mother, Melisande, is a very underdeveloped character, as she died when Talia was a little girl. Mixed sources claim her heritage was largely similar to Ra's, being mostly comprised of Chinese and ambiguous Arab descent.

So, from this, that would mean Talia herself is also probably a (un)even split of Arab and Chinese with some other middle eastern and East Asian background, which would put Damian at 1/2 white, 1/4 Arab, and 1/4 Chinese roughly. And despite ethnicity, Damian spent his prime developmental years living with his mother and grandfather, so despite his 1/2 white heritage he would largely lean into Middle eastern and East Asian culture (outside of religion, as Ra's is a staunch atheist).

I think Middle Eastern and East Asian culture are so interesting so i just wish DC actually did something with it instead of making Damian look and act soley white, and I'm not referring to skin color, as both ethnicities have varying looking complections, but rather i mean his facial structure. (A great example of Damian having both Arab and East Asian features is Bernard Chang's artwork in Monkey Prince #2, as well as the 2021 run of Robin, specifically issues 1-11 drawn by Gleb Melnikov (not every frame but some are pretty good).)
