After a week of steady painting, I’ve finished the lovely Realmscape Objectives set for AoS.

These are awesome little pieces, full of details and character. I painted them up to match the rest of my AoS terrain, so they should fit in nicely.

I’m particularly happy with how the large banner turned out, I painted it to match the colours of my Anvils of the Heldenhammer army.

I was at the discount book store today and I found a pack of Mantic Games terrain for the Walking Dead wargame for $20. I've been looking for a miniature pickup truck for a project I'm working on, so I grabbed it. I actually really like what I got so here's a mini review.

The box comes with 2 trucks, 2 cars, 6 barricades, and 8 piles of junk/objectives (2 of each sculpt). The cars and trucks are completely hollow with no underside, so they're light models, easy to store, and easy to modify if you need to convert and repurpose them for any reason like I plan to do.

The scale of the terrain looks good for any 28mm/Heroic Scale Wargame. It should be perfect for any Modern, Post-Apocalyptic, or Sci-fi wargame. I tested the scale with a pair of old Space Marines but they also look really good next to this Brotherhood of Steel from Fallout Wasteland Warfare.

Anyway, it looks like this box runs for $30-60. If you're looking for scatter terrain and can find it at a lower price point, I think this is a great set to grab.

i don't know if some mad god whispered to me, or if I'm just losing my mind, but I decided to spontaneously start not 1 but 2 new projects. started making some mushroom forest/grotto/cave scenery that I've wanted to do for a while to break up the mostly industrial theme that the rest of my terrain currently is. and then I also got some gobbos to go with the terrain because 1) goblins have been on the mind since I started those d&d minis a few weeks ago, and 2) I just started learning the gloomspite's lore and they might just be the funniest faction in all of Warhammer. recipes under the read more.

the craft store I went to today had a sale on all their summer floral stuff, so I grabbed a random bunch of things to make this with (not pictured are the other floral/fake aquarium plants I got to add some color at the end). those big hedge looking things were formerly foam letters covered in grass and flock. after breaking them up, rearranging them as platforms, and gluing them together I figure they look like overgrowth/shrubbery of some sort. i sculpted the giant mushrooms from air dry clay, I will attach some to their own bases, and others I'll use to accent the other parts, like the shrub things. the bases are just chipboard covered in white glue and sand. when they're dry, I'll prime them black and drybrush them to look like dirt and rock. once that dries, I'll start gluing the shrubs and mushrooms and stuff to them. I also have a twig wreath that I'm going to cut up and make look like fallen logs and such, in addition to the actual half log that's also shown. finally, I made some small mushrooms by letting dollops of hot glue dry, then super gluing toothpicks to them. like I said, this was all very spur of the moment and not super planned out, but I'm super happy with how much I got done in one day though.

Been a good night for hobbying, though I had to take a break in the middle of it to do forgotten chemistry homework.

Starting to work on the KT moroch terrain, primed in Mechanicus Standard Grey and right now just laying down base coats of Leadbelcher, Balthazar Gold, and a bit of Ulthuan Grey on the little skull consoles. It's really nice to play on and gonna be really nice once I get a Spec Ops campaign going.

Got the Big Fella's lascannon done, fairly simple to do, just did some touchups before using Nuln Oil (on the metal and blue panel) and Agrax Earthshade (on the red bits) and edge highlighting with stormhost silver, calgar blue, and evil sunz scarlet. I wasn't sure how the red guns were gonna look when I started on this one but I think they look really nice! After this I just have to do the legs, base, and unarmored torso bits.

The haemotrope reactor is a one of those things (along with servitors) that reminds you just how baked in the cruelty of the Imperium is. The admech mixes the blood of martyrs into the fuel supply. I don't know if this is necessary for the function or just the admech deciding the machines needed a sacrifice to run well.

Either way, I had a ton of fun painting this chunky boy up. A heavy drybrush of gunmetal and brass, some choice colors, a heavy schlepping with some dip wash and then a few weathering effects go a long way quick

After several years, I finically got the last three Primal Lair hazards painted for my Warhammer Underworlds collection.

Happy to get them finished. I’m still undecided on what to paint next, planning to have a root around the hobby room later tonight to see what piques my interest.

Thrift Store Hobby Haul

I went thrifting over the weekend looking for stuff I could use for wargaming terrain. Found a bunch of very promising stuff in the ceramics sections!

This run down Christmas Village house is perfect for some fantasy games and especially modern/WW2 games. I'll need to fix up the paintjob a bit but should be good for the table relatively quickly.

A small Fishing Shack and a pair of Salt and Pepper Shaker Outhouses (???) The fishing shack I'll use for my Mordheim Board and the outhouses I'll probably use for Turnip28.

Speaking of Turnip, check out these Thanksgiving candle holders I found.

These just need smoke or fire coming from the top and they'd be perfect for the Tall Man, or just neat terrain pieces on their own. I think some people have problems with using non root vegetables for Turnip28 but hear me out... there is so much cheap Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations out there! It's really easy to turn into terrain so I'm gonna keep doing it!

Last in my terrain haul, here are a few more Gnome Homes and one Easter Rabbit Home that again will be for playing Turnip28. Though these could probably work for any Fantasy game.

I love this giant carrot house and the weird dog rabbits. I'm going to do my best to remove the rabbits but keep them in one piece because they're weird and cute.

So yeah, expect some more weird terrain projects in the future and if you're looking for cheap terrain options for your fantasy wargames, check out the ceramics/holiday sections. Most of that stuff is close to Heroic Scale for some reason and only a few dollars at your local thrift stores.
